Kogoro, Conan and Ran are at Poirot while Kogoro is reading the newspaper. Asuza then serves drinks to Kogoro, and asks advice on a matter that's bothering her: a 5-year old boy named Osabe Mitsuru has been sending messages to her about every trivial matter, but now she received 4 troubling messages: the first one, sent at 9:07 am, told her about him and his father going to a restaurant, the second one, sent at 10:16 am , told her about him taking off his shoes and wishing he could eat a hamburger, the third one, sent at 11:54 am, told about two people, a man wearing glasses and a lady in blue, looking at him, and the fourth text, sent at 3:02 pm said, "Like a fish, I wonder if I'm also gonna get caught in the net and die..."

Conan deduces that the father isn't near the kid, and that Mitsuru and his father went fishing. Kogoro questions why the other fishers didn't notice the kid sitting by himself, and Conan hints that "Mitsuru keeps looking up". Ran deduces that Mitsuru was probably in a car. Kogoro asks if there was a specific resort they went to, and Asuza brings over a magazine that the duo were marking off yesterday.

The three places marked off were Naka-arai, Kusarazu and Komaezaki. When Kogoro called the inns written under the places, he gets the weather of each place. Just then, Asuza gets another message from Mitsuru, saying "I thought there was only one fish, but now there's three. The fish are so lucky." She calls the cellphone, to no avail.  While the others are still puzzled, Conan seems to have solved the case...
