Yosuke Kabashima
Key animation
Yosuke Kabashima (椛島 洋介 Kabashima Yōsuke), born April 22, 1976 in Fukuoka Prefecture, is a Japanese animation director and key animator affiliated with Studio Kai. He takes part in the production of Detective Conan movies.

Biography
Born on April 22, 1976 in Fukuoka Prefecture[1], he was interested in animation from a very young age, observing how animators drew opening themes in elementary school[2]. In high school, he joined a technical school in Fukuoka, but did not attend most of his classes since he was afraid of the delinquents there. He however joined the animation club of his school at the recommendation of a teacher and cemented his desire to become an animator there[2]. Yosuke Kabashima first joined animation studio Studio Z5 (スタジオZ5), a freelance animation group founded by Hideyuki Motohashi, Hajime Kamegaki and Satoshi Hirayama after the disbandment of their previous studio Studio Z. Studio Z5 specialized in mecha animation. After Z5's reorganization into animation studio Xebec's subsidiary Xebec M2 in 2003[3], Kabashima became a freelance animator instead of joining Xebec M2[1]. As a freelancer, he collaborated with studios Studio G-1 Neo, AIC ASTA and Sunrise[1]. Between April 2017 and September 2019, he became affiliated with Satelight, before returning to freelance[1]. In April 2021, with many former staff of Satelight, he joined Studio Kai[1].
Kabashima is known as a versatile animator, able to animate mecha, but also action effects for female and male characters[1]. He was credited for the first time in 1999 as key animation in series DT Eightron. He has consistently worked since then. In 2001, he was credited as animation director for the first time, in OVA Angel Blade. He joined the production staff of Detective Conan for the first time around 2005, becoming a key animator for the 9th movie Strategy Above the Depths. He then disappeared from Detective Conan and became known meanwhile for his work in Symphogear as chief animator and character designer, and Uma Musume Pretty Derby, notably. He was back around 2017 as an action animation director for movie 21, The Crimson Love Letter. He has not been involved with the franchise since.
