  (Shinichi thinks to himself) "What's happened to my clothes? And why do they keep calling me little boy?!"
• 
  Shinichi manages to escape from the Police Officers. He stops at a shop window and looks at his reflection - he's been shrunk by the poison given to him!
• 
  Shinichi can't get into his house luckily he finds Dr. Agasa but has slight trouble trying to prove to him that he is Shinichi and that he's shrunk.
• 
  "We need to be careful Shinichi, those men are bound to come looking for you if they find out you're still alive! You must tell no one your true identity or what happened! Not even Ran! Do you understand?!"
• 
  There's someone at the door and it's Ran! What unlucky timing! Dr. Agasa and Shinichi try not to panic and do their best to improvise!
• 
  Shinichi is under pressure to hide is identity from Ran, just before she sees him he finds a pair of glasses and pokes out the lenses.
• 
  He glances at the books on the shelf behind him for inspiration and lies to Ran saying his name is Conan Edogawa, Dr. Agasa's relative.
• 
  Dr. Agasa persuades Ran to look after Conan for a while and she accepts. On the way to her home Ran tells Conan that she loves Shinichi but tells Conan it's "our little secret".

  Ran and Conan arrive at her home.
• 
  All of a sudden Ran's father Kogoro Mouri comes rushing down the steps exclaiming he's got a case "some girl's been kidnapped by a man in black" Conan thinks this could be one of the men in black he's looking for, so jumps in the taxi with Ran following.

  Asao the Butler tells his story of how Akiko was kidnapped.
• The kidnapper also wants a ransom $3 million in cash. Asao says it must be a mistake.

  Kogoro, thanks to hints from Conan, figures out that Akiko's kidnapping is a fake (done by Asao) and that she should be in a nearby hotel.

  However the Tani residence gets another phone call by the kidnapper proving Conan's theory correct - Akiko was kidnapped for real after the fake kidnapping.
• 
  Akiko yelps on the phone that they're near a school and see can see a factory. Conan rides on Jumbo the guard dog to find her and Kogoro and Ran follow.
• 
  Conan finds the building. Akiko must have seen the side of a Skyscraper and mistaken it for a chimney.
• 
  Conan tries to save Akiko and untie her whilst Jumbo fights the kidnapper, all is going when until Jumbo is badly hit and runs off leaving the two children vulnerable.
• 
  Conan is hit and about to be finished off when Ran arrives and saves the day by using her karate skills on the kidnapper and knocking him out.
• 
  Akiko tells her father not to be mad at Asao. She wanted to spend more time with her father who is always at work and doesn't play with her very much anymore.
• 
  Akiko's father says that nonetheless, Asao shouldn't have agreed to be a part of it and as punishment Asao must make arrangements for a weeks vacation in Australia for Akiko and him.

  "I don't know what we would have done without you Detective Moore. Thank You."
• 
  Ran asks Kogoro if Conan can stay. "What are you kidding? As soon as he shows up I score a rich client and crack a top case. It's like he's a good luck charm or something! Damn right you can stay, welcome to the family!"
• "I'm Conan Edogawa, I just transfered! Nice to meet you!"
  "I'm Conan Edogawa, I just transfered! Nice to meet you!"
