ocone 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 ok so im 36 years old, i have 6 kids and i got into detective conan a bunch of years back when i was shopping for xmas present for my kids. i was at gamestop back when gamestop sold used dvds and they had a special running, something like buy 3, get 5 free (hey, you take a deal where you can find it when you got 6 kids, lol). of course i should have known at that time to stock up on a lot of anime for the kids, but i digress. so i grabbed a detective conan 3 episode disc amongst a few other filler gifts, never having heard of it. my one daughter and one son loved it, previously having watched trigun, azumanga daioh, dragonball, GTO, inuyasha and a few other anime series (they were like 6 and 8 at the time). since then weve bought all the season sets, all the movies in english and now that theyre in their teens, are tech savvy enough to find subs here and there, wink wink. i think its a shame that were not getting more translated episodes, but what can you do. if the series ended, we wouldn't get more episodes anyhow, so i lok at the subs as a free gift even though id be willing to pay for them, again, i got 6 kids, you save where you can, lol my question is not really mind blowing, but do they show detective conan reruns in japan? on the dcw site, under the anime, they have the release dates and looking at the recent episodes it goes from may 18th to june 8. were the 25th and 1st reruns? also as im typing away here, another question popped into my im glad to hear anyone elses input: do they ever have 1 hour specials anymore? i though earlier on in the series, they were more frequent, or it could just be me.. tata got kids to feed ocone
Chekhov MacGuffin 1089 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Detective Conan is still not over as a series. It is coming up to its 700th episode. While official English projects have pretty much ended for the anime, the manga however, still has ongoing official English translations. You find the products here: www.vizmanga.comThere are ocassionally reruns, typically remasters of older cases. That is what was happening this month. The schedule isMay 4 Ep 696 「花壇あらしの陰謀」 The Conspiracy Of Flowerbed Destroyer (Anime Original)May 11 Ep 697 「女学園の窓」 The Windows Of Female School (Anime Original)May 18 Ep 698 「まさか!UFO墜落事件」 No Way! UFO Falling Case (Anime Original)May 25 Ep 340 「トイレに隠した秘密(前編)」 The Secret Hidden in the Bathroom (Part 1) (Remastered)Jun 1 Ep 341 「トイレに隠した秘密(後編)」 The Secret Hidden in the Bathroom (Part 2) (Remastered)Jun 8 Ep 699 「灰原の秘密に迫る影(前編)」 The Shadow Approaching Haibara's Secret (Part 1) (Manga-based on File 815-817)Jun 15 Ep 700 「灰原の秘密に迫る影(後編)」 The Shadow Approaching Haibara's Secret (Part 2) (Manga-based on File 815-817)Jun 22 Ep 307 「残された声なき証言(前編)」 The Dark Footprint (Part 1) (Remastered)Jun 29 Ep 308 「残された声なき証言(後編)」 The Dark Footprint (Part 2) (Remastered)Jul 6 BreakJul 13 Not Confirmed YetJul 20 Not Confirmed YetJul 27 Not Confirmed Yet I imagine the next episodes will be the Bell Tree Express Mystery Train ones. Detective Conan doesn't typically have 1 hour specials anymore because the popularity of the show, the shows it would replace that week, and the timeslot it is in doesn't justify it. ocone 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 oh, no i know its not over as a series, i just meant in relations to not having english episodes in a bunch of years, its as if "case closed" is no longer made. im happy to find the subtitled episodes where i can and if they ever release english episodes, or even subbed episodes on dvd, i would buy/ itunes download. and thank you for the break down of upcoming episodes and explaination on the reason for no more 1 hour episodes. it makes sense, i didnt know what shows came on before or after DC in japan and im sure that would impact whether they did an hour long special. thanks again!
