MadelineLime Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 I'm wondering has anyone made a Venetian mask from scratch? I've done paper mache before, but either I'm just bad at it, or I've been doing it the wrong way with other projects in the past, because I've never found it to be a good enough quality to use for making nice masks. Maybe I wasn't using the right kind of paper? I imagine newsprint is the crappy way of going about it... Since we have people from all over the world here, I thought I would ask. This seems to be the most promising instructions I've found online so far. I'm actually not using it for making a typical Venetian mask (though I will down the line!), but more for a youkai cosplay mask that has a flat front. They seem to be a lot more lightweight than wooden noh masks, so I want to avoid that route. I can update this thread in the future if anyone is curious how it goes?
