For common factor, you need to factorise completely for the numbers. So lets say,
36 and 24.
24: 2X2X2X3
36: 2X2X3X3
you realise that both 24 and 36 have at least two 2s and one 3.
Gcf: 2,2,3 multiply all of them and you get 12
