Nobuyuki Iwai (岩井 伸之 Iwai Nobuyuki?) is a Japanese anime director. He is best known for his work in Detective Conan. Along with Masatomo Sudo, he works as character designer for Detective Conan from episode 804 to 870.

Works in Detective Conan

Iwai's first participation in the Detective Conan anime was in 2007, the 2nd part of Whereabouts of the Dark Photograph. After four episodes working as a key animator, Iwai began to work as an animation director in the following year, starting with Clash of Red and Black (Disturbance). His drawing quality increased significantly after roughly eight years being an animation director, therefore, he got promoted as character design, working along with Masatomo Sudo from episodes 804 to 870. He also become the chief animation director in Memories from Sakura Class.

In 2019, Iwai served as animation director of the prominent series The Scarlet School Trip. At the end of 2019, he worked with Masatomo Sudo and Seiji Muta as animation supervisors, starting with The Radio Questions and Concerns Show. However, this was not the first time he did the role, as he supervised Chase the Miyama Stag Beetle in 2012, under the credit "Key Animator" (キーアニメーター Kīanimētā?).

Iwai also participated in the production of Detective Conan movies. He started as assistant animation director in 2011, and was promoted to animation director in 2016, until present.
