The young Kobayashi was trying to stop two older men from stealing in a bookstore, and the young Shiratori was watching the whole scene take place, and when the goons were about to hurt Kobayashi, he stepped in, rescuing her from any harm. As gratitude, Kobayashi gave him a soda  that had paper shaped in the symbol of Tokyo police: Sakura petals. It was then that Shiratori fell in love with her, and decided to join the Tokyo police force because of her influence.
