Toya (戸矢 Toya?) is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan. In the anime version, she became Totani (戸谷 Totani?).

Background

Toya was Teitan Elementary class 1-B's previous homeroom teacher who introduced Conan Edogawa. She was liked by her students, but quit teaching after married and was replaced by Sumiko Kobayashi.

Toya is a really kind woman who likes children.

Mysterious Shadow Case (Manga: 10, Anime: 2)

Toya introduces Conan.

To keep Shinichi's cover as a child, Professor Agasa immediately enrolls Conan in first grade at Teitan Elementary School, where Toya introduces him and is laughed at by other children for his name. Bored by the simple curriculum, during physical education, Conan decides to test the new gadget Professor Agasa gave to him earlier, the Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes, using moderate power while he is playing soccer. To his, Toya and classmates shock, the soccer ball shoots through the goal net and knocks over a large tree.

School Mystery Case (Manga: 154, Anime: 112)

After she got married and gave up her jog, Toya was replaced by Sumiko Kobayashi. Unlike her, the new teacher is initially strict overly strict and is disliked by the students, until Conan and the Detective Boys caught her practicing for a parent teacher conference after hours. Just like Toya before, she is now well liked by her students.
