Toshiki Hirano (平野 俊貴 Hirano Toshiki?) is a Japanese animator born in Tokyo. He did not participate much in the Detective Conan main anime yet had pronounced contributions towards the 2010 version of Magic Kaito: Kid the Phantom Thief.

Biography

Toshiki Hirano's real name is actually Toshihiro Hirano (平野 俊弘 Hirano Toshihiro?), he used to use this name being active among the industry before.

When he was still studying at Chiyoda Designer Gakuin's Graphic Design Department (千代田デザイナー学院), he once visited the production site of Toei Animation (東映動画). This peculiar encounter instigated him to apply for a part-time job at Toei Animation. Unfortunately, back then they were not compatible with this particular type of job, thus the people from there had to rack their brains and think up another idea for Hirano - they introduced him to Studio No. 1. Thereafter, Hirano began to draw videos there. He is now a representative of the Toshiki Hirano Office Limited Company (有限会社平野俊貴事務所).

In 1984, Hirano was selected as the character designer for the 1984 TV movie Macross: Do You Remember Love? (超時空要塞マクロス 愛・おぼえていますか) and the OVA Megazone 23 (メガゾーン23) produced by Artland. Due to his past experience as an animation director for the anime Super Dimension Fortress Macross (超時空要塞マクロス), he did not let his fans down and did quite a bang-up job. Moreover, in the following year, he was also in charge of character design for the TV anime Ninja Senshi Tobikage (忍者戦士飛影), manifesting his "true colours" whilst becoming a relatively hit animator.

His directorial debut OVA Fight! Iczer One (戦え!!イクサー1), supposedly, was a project that a friend of his and he brought to Kubo Bookstore (久保書店). This was not only Hirano's first attempt at serving as director, but also another time for him to shine in the spotlight: he gained numerous loyal followers.

Incidentally, his wife is a mangaka, named Narumi Kakinouchi (垣野内 成美); Hirano simultaneously participated in the composition of her manga stories, for example, he was one of the original collaberators in the Vampire Princess Miyu (吸血姫美夕) series and the Fuun Three Sisters LIN (風雲三姉妹LIN) series.
