Case

Situation

A man is shot to death by his subordinates, they call themselves the Organizer of Shadows. Twenty years later, Conan helps Ran and Kogoro solve a puzzle which wins them an all-expense-paid trip on a giant boat built for a small number of people. After 11, people have entered the boat, the boat leaves. Kogoro meets an inspector he use to work with on the boat and meet up with Heiji Hattori. After a man is murdered, they learn a man named Saizou Kanou who was the leader of the Organizer of Shadows is on the boat.

In the end, after a bombing, and discovering two dead bodies, Conan solves the case, realizing there were two separate culprits; one as the bomber, and one as the murderer. It was revealed that Nagisa Isogai is Kanou's daughter and that Minoru Ebina was romantically involved with Touji Samezaki's daughter,Yoshimi, who was shot and killed during the robbery 20 years ago. Since then he have been trying to find the robbers since and plan to uses bomb to kill all of them in revenge for Yoshimi. The bomb was discovered by Conan and it was detonated 100 yards from the ship.

The culprit was Sadao Kujirai. He entered the ship as an old man to create an illusion that Kanou, the leader of the Organizer of Shadows is in the ship. He then proceeded with his plans and invited Teruyoshi Kameda to the maintenance room where he was killed. He hid the body in a box at the rear of the ship. He then came back to the group and arrange a meeting with Korehisa Kanie which he drugged. He took Kanie's watch and clothes and placed it on Kameda to make it appear Kanie was the burned corpse.

Heiji saw Kanie's body that's why Kujirai tried to kill him but was thrown overboard instead.

During the commotion with the ship's flag burning and the box with the corpse exploding, Kujirai placed Kanie's body at the front of the ship. After watching everyone's movement and setting up the what appears to be a gunshot at the back, he proceeded to kill Kanie in the front. He then acted as if he was being targetted and told the detectives he'll tell them everything he knows. They were about to start interoggation when they were allegedly attacked by Kanie and Kujirai being shot at the arm, when it was also a set up by Kujirai who had shot his arm when he killed Kanie. Kujirai acted like Kanie was behind everything and being caught committed suicide.

It was noted that Kujirai was from Kansai that's why Heiji was called. Also noted is Kujirai's use of cigarette in order to accomplish the set-up such as the burning flag and much of the scenarios.

Trivia

• Ran Mouri imitates a scene from Titanic including by saying the famous line "I am king of the world".
