Part 1

Kogoro is asked to be a star in an educational television program. Once there with Ran and Conan, he is introduced to guest stars and studio members. Noburou Kimijima, the leading figure of Enka, has his priceless vase stolen during rehearsal. They deduce the culprit is still inside the studio room.

After failing to find the vase in possible hiding spots, Conan realizes the vase has been smashed and reveals it is hidden inside the fanny pack of Kimijima's disciple, Shinobu Oki. Conan deduces her motive and has the guest star appraiser reveal the vase was a counterfeit and that Oki most likely destroyed it to prevent Kimijima from being humiliated on television. Oki confesses and reveals Kimijima's wife's dying wish was to prevent Kimijima from learning about the vase's real value. Kimijima accepts Oki's good intentions and reveals he made a deal with a producer who will help start Oki's debut as a singer. He says that while he might not be a good judge at vases, he is very good at judging singing voices. There is a happy ending and just before Kogoro, Ran and Conan are about to go home, Yoko Okino tells Kogoro that he has something on his tie. He seemed happy that she notices his tie but then got disappointed when it was not for the reason he had hoped.

• The Most Useful School in the World is one of Nihon TV's programs. The basic gist is that invited guests on the program talk about their given fields of work in easy to understand lectures. The three main hosts are modeled after their real life counterparts and also voiced by them too.
• Noburou Kimijima's car is a Black Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse [W204].
