isn't Gin dead?

Gin's last appearance which was in his Porsche in chapter 704/episode 581 would suggest not. Maybe you are thinking of another character? If you are thinking of movie 13, it was mentioned at the very end no bodies were found in the helicopter wreckage, meaning everyone inside parachuted/whatevered to safety.
