After Akai leaves, Ran confronts the serial killer! He decides to kill her. After the killer accidentally falls off of a stairwell, Ran grabs his hand, which astonishes the killer. Shinichi then comes to the rescue! After Shinichi explains his and Ran's noble reasons for ever saying someone, the killer silently vows to leave them alone, while Shinichi carries an exhausted Ran off.
