Season 1 - Episodes 1-28

Roller Coaster Murder Case (Episode 1)/The Heisei Holmes (Chapter 1)

• The first episode of the anime includes the Detective Boys who don't appear until many chapters later in the manga.
• Hiroshi Agasa and Kogoro Mouri also appear in this episode, whereas in the manga they make their debut in the Company President's Daughter Kidnapping Case.
• The mansion owner kills his wife in the manga. In the anime the owner kills his friend, Yamazaki.
• In the manga, when Ran is trying to kick Shinichi, he leaps out of the way rather than his face ending up under her skirt.
• The anime infamously censors Kishida's decapitation with a bright cone of light; in the manga, the blood is left entirely uncensored.
• In the manga, Shinichi's narration mentions that the police found a large amount of sleeping pills in Hitomi's purse, indicating that she planned to commit suicide after murdering Kishida. This line is dropped from the anime, though it is re-inserted in the English dub.
• In the manga, Reiko points out that Gin and Vodka could have committed the murder as they were behind the victim. Shinichi acknowledges that they look suspicious, but if they pulled off the murder, they would have anticipated the arrival of the police (which they don't as they are in a hurry to pull off their transaction).
• Shinichi uses a camera when spying on Vodka, whereas in the anime, he simply eavesdrops on the deal going on.

Company President's Daughter Kidnapping Case (Episode 2)/The Great Detective Turned Small, The Unwelcome Great Detective, The Sixth Smokestack & The Other Perpetrator (Chapters 2-5)

• The younger Shinichi is in a medical center at Tropical Land whereas in the anime he runs off after being awoken by the police.
• In the manga, Tani immediately puts the vacation plans with Akiko on hold (much to the latter's disappointment). The anime leaves this scene out.
• Rather than showing Conan being introduced to his new class (with Genta, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko as students), the manga version of the story end with Conan reflecting on how he is incapable of fighting the bad guys in his younger form.

An Idol's Locked Room Murder Case (Episode 3)/From Third-Rate to Great Detective, The Bloody Case of the Lovely Pop Idol, Resemblance & An Unfortunate Misunderstanding (Chapters 6-9)

• In the anime, Genta, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko introduce themselves to Conan and follow along on the case. The Detective Boys don't appear in the manga until Volume 2.
• In the manga, Ran suspects that Shinichi's absence might have to do with the two men in black that he pursued and planned to call the police. In the anime she merely plans to report his absence to the police without any mention of the men in black.

The Coded Map of the City Case (Episode 4) / Code Sheet Case (Chapter 36-39)

• An entire portion of the story is left out of the anime where Ran takes Conan, Genta, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko to Tohto Tower. During which she recalls a time when she and Shinichi visited the tower and when he bought her a cold drink, which he put up against her cheek. Conan does the same thing, which prompts her to ask him about his true identity (as the manga version takes place after the The Shinkansen's Bomb Case). Conan responds by stating that he is Kamen Yaiba. The cola scene was redone in Movie 4.
• In the manga, Genta envisions that the Italian gangsters will shoot him, and imagines himself lying in a pool of his own blood. The anime substitutes a less graphic and more stylized image, with a miniature Genta being riddled with colorful, cartoon-like gunshots.

The Shinkansen's Bomb Case (Episode 5)/Running Into The Two, The Four in the Green Car & Last 10 Seconds of Terror (Chapter 33-35)

• In the manga, the two men in black are in fact Gin and Vodka. It is here that Conan first learns of their codenames.
• Genta, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko didn't appear in the manga version of the story. Thus, it's Ran who deposits the gum that Conan uses.
• The manga version ends with Conan reflecting on the knowledge he learned about the two men in black. Ran's questioning of his true identity doesn't occur here, but in The Coded Map of the City Case (which follows the story in the manga rather than preceding it).

Once-A-Month Present Threat Case (Episode 7)/The Curious Presents, The Same Person, The Mystery of August 3rd & Safe Before Your Eyes (Chapter 26-29)

• In the manga, this story takes place after the Luxury Liner Serial Murder Case, as Ran gets a letter from Natsue who mentions that she and Takeshi are living a more quiet life on the ranch. Natsue tells Ran to give her regards to her "detective boyfriend", which sets up the story. The anime version starts with Mitsuhiko, Ayumi and Genta asking about Shinichi and whether he is Ran's boyfriend.
  • Additionally, Ran's recollection of the past cases included a flashback to "Luxury Liner Serial Murder Case" in the manga only.

Art Museum Owner Murder Case (Episode 8)/The Pen That Cannot Write (Chapter 32)

• At the end of the case in the manga version, Kogoro Mouri is shown reading a newspaper article about himself because he helped the Police solve the murder of the museum's owner. This marks the first claim to fame of Kogoro. In the anime version, this is replaced with a scene of the Detective Boys discussing about the aftermath of the museum, and their plan of investigating a case about a "moving skeleton" at night.

Pro Soccer Player Blackmail Case (Episode 10)/Pro Soccer Player Case 1 and Pro Soccer Player Case 2 (Chapter 68-71)

• In the manga, the Detective Boys' conversation about the soccer match occurs while they are walking home from school, while the anime has them discussing it while sitting down on a park bench. Additionally, the scene in the manga ends on Conan reflecting how he'd be playing soccer on his high school fields if not for the men in black poisoning him, with a brief background appearance by Gin and Vodka.
• In the manga, the story ends with a narrative exposition of Conan mentioning that it took three days before Ran accepted Ryoko's explanation of Shinichi's presence. The anime ended with the narration following the discussion in question back at the Detective Agency.

Ayumi-chan Kidnapping Case (Episode 12)/A Dangerous Game of Hide-And-Seek, Follow the Voice!! & What! Really!? (Chapter 81-83)

• The anime version includes a flashback with Agasa describing how the Detective Boys Badges work, which is absent from the manga version as they were introduced in the manga version of Missing Corpse Murder Case.
• While searching for Ayumi, the boys notice Inspector Megure in a patrol car. After they find Ayumi, they see Inspector Megure pass by in the patrol car again, this time with a criminal. Both of these moments are anime-only.

The Strange Person Hunt Murder Case (Episode 13)/The Missing Man, The Sad Girl, Follow the Giant! & A Devil-like Woman (Chapter 13-16)

• In the manga version of the story Gin and Vodka are the masterminds of the case (rather than Okita), and they end up killing Masami Hirota/Akemi Miyano who informs Conan of the organization's existence. This would lead to Ai Haibara's appearance in the series. Furthermore, Ai makes a silhouetted appearance when Akemi is demanding for herself and her sister to be free of the organization, which is also omitted. To repair the storyline, Episode 128 The Black Organization: One Billion Yen Robbery Case was written with a similar ending to the manga version.

Missing Corpse Murder Case (Episode 15)/Formation! The Detective Boys, Mysterious Brothers & Moving Corpse Mystery (Chapter 56-58)

• The manga version of the story takes place before "Ayumi-chan Kidnapping Case", and is the first story with the Detective Boys' Badges. The story begins with Conan giving them to Mitsuhiko, Genta and Ayumi at school. Afterwards, they go into the P.A. Room to announce themselves to the school as The Detective Boys, only to be kicked out by a teacher, which then ends with them (except for Conan) imagining the fame that will come with their cases. The entire scene is absent from the anime.
• In the anime, the boy who lost his cat is named Hiroki. He is not named in the manga.
• In the manga, it is Ayumi's idea to use the detective badges to make Tomofumi "confess" to Inspector Megure. The anime truncates this scene so the idea looks like Genta's.
• In the manga, Tomofumi states that his impending marriage was what drove him to murder Kazuyoshi. The anime changes and expands his motive, stating instead that Tomofumi (who looked up to Kazuyoshi as a child) had become increasingly disillusioned by his brother's parasitic ways. Tomofumi is also made more mentally unstable in the anime, even re-disguising himself as Kazuyoshi when he chases Conan around the house, yelling that he will become an ideal version of his older brother.
• In the manga, after Conan knocks out Tomofumi with a iron kettle with the Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes, the kick causes him considerable pain in the foot and he jumps up screaming. Conan's pain is not depicted in the anime episode.

The Antique Collector Murder Case (Episode 16)/Antique Collector Case (Chapter 52-55)

• In the manga, Denjiro is shouting a couple times for someone to greet the visitor at the door before realizing he gave the staff time off and sent them out due to having a detective over. Kogoro asks if his wife was told to leave as well with Denjiro mentioning that she left at noon for a Koto lesson, though he's disbelieving due to the photo. Afterwards, he leaves to greet his visitor while mentally cursing Ineko. In the anime, Denjiro simply calls for someone to answer the door once before realizing that his staff is out and simply goes to greet the visitor.

A June Bride Murder Case (Episode 18)/The Bride's Tragedy, The Forbidden Lemon Tea!?, and A Reason To Kill (Chapter 78-80)

• In the manga, Conan rinses out Miss Matsumoto's mouth out with milk after he sees her collapsing, in an effort to neutralize the poison in her body. It is later stated that this bit of first aid may have saved Miss Matsumoto's life. These parts are cut from the anime entirely.

A Haunted Mansion Murder Case (Episode 20)/The Scary Building, The Disappearing Children, and The Underground Room's Nightmare (Chapter 17-19)

• In the manga, this story marks the debut of Genta, Mitsuhiko, and Ayumi, whereas they had already been featured since the very first episode in the anime.
• In the manga, Ayumi mentions seeing the hitodama in the mansion's window in a brief and vaguely-detailed flashback. This flashback is extended into a full prologue for the anime version, which features Ayumi walking home from grocery shopping in the middle of a thunderstorm.

Luxury Liner Serial Murder Case (Episode 22-23)/The Hatamoto Family, The Secret of the Impenetrable Room, The Location of the Inheritance, Family Obliteration, Trap-Springer In The Dark and The Dream That Will Not Come True (Chapter 20-25)

• In the manga, while waiting for Ichiro to return from the restroom, Joji Hatamoto theorizes that the one who released Takeshi from the storeroom was the murdered Tatsuo Hatamoto. His reasoning: Upon learning that the entire inheritance was to be passed on to Natsue only, and not wanting to be cut off, Tatsuo released Takeshi and offered to help prove his innocence in return for a considerable share of the inheritance, and Takeshi, on the pretense of wanting to negotiate with him further, lured Tatsuo to the boat deck where he attacked him there. This is not depicted in the anime.
• In the anime, there is an additional scene not depicted in the manga: After the case is solved, Natsue and Takeshi have a small talk on the boat deck in which Takeshi confessed that he did indeed initially joined the Hatamoto family for revenge, but abandoned his motive after realizing that he had developed genuine feelings for Natsue, and the two make up. Conan and Ran are shown overhearing the conversation.
• In the manga, this marks the first case in which Conan uses the Stun-Gun Wristwatch to knock out Kogoro, as well as showing a flashback to Agasa presenting it to him. In the anime, Conan already had it since "Valentine Murder Case".

Kogoro's Class Reunion Murder Case (Episode 27-28)/Kogoro's Class Reunion, An Unexpected Hint & The Two Benkei Standing Deaths (Chapter 84-86)

• The manga starts off at the reunion during the moment where Conan and Ran are bathing. The anime starts before the reunion is held with Conan and Ran trying to convince Kogoro to take them. During which a robbery takes place with Kogoro and Conan pursuing the robber. Kogoro is saved when Conan kicks the gun away from the robber. Afterwards, Kogoro, Conan and Ran meet with Yumi who hopes to see all of them at the reunion. Meanwhile Kazushi sneaks onto the scene to steal the gun used by the robber (though it's not revealed to be him until Part 2).

TV Station Murder Case (Episode 31)/A Death During a Live Broadcast, Illusionary Road & Flash News Deduction Show (Chapter 102-104)

• In the manga, Michihiko Suwa is characterized as being far more self-centered and concerned with his career than in the anime. When Matsuo calls the producer claiming that he'll commit suicide by jumping from the television studio roof, he tells Suwa that he will be "going down" with him. Stating that he has listed all of Suwa's misdeeds in his will, Matsuo frightens the producer by insinuating that everything will be written in tomorrow's newspaper. Fearful for his own future, Suwa rushes to the window to try and convince Matsuo not to jump. In the anime, Matsuo does not make such threats, and Suwa runs to the window out of concern for Matsuo's life as opposed to his career being ruined.
• In the manga, when Kogoro's deduction show is televised outside of the Nichiuri Television Studio for the public's viewing, more time is spent showing people's reactions to the broadcast than in the anime. One such scene that was entirely omitted involved Sonoko Suzuki. While watching a movie, her mother tells her to go to bed as it's getting late. Just as Sonoko asks if she can stay up a bit longer, her movie is interrupted by a news bulletin concerning the death of Michihiko Suwa. When the screen switches to Kogoro's deduction, Sonoko's facial expression of confusion turns to complete shock.

Coffee Shop Murder Case (Episode 32)/An Important Person!?, The Weapon of The Crime & The Two Mysteries (Chapter 105-107)

• In the manga, Conan just woke up and is still in his pajamas when he catches Ran sneaking out. This also explains why he doesn't see through her lie about going to a date with Shinichi immediately. In the anime, Conan shows no signs of having been asleep and wears a normal outfit.
  • In the manga, when Shiro Wakaoji called and talked about the girl wearing a ski costume in Wealthy Daughter Murder Case, but the anime he mentioned a girl from TV Station Murder Case. The Wealthy Daughter Murder Case took place after many episodes.

Mountain Villa Bandaged Man Murder Case (Episode 34-35)/The Mysterious... Bandaged Man, The First Victim!, Ran in Trouble!, Attack in the Dark! & The Identity of the Murderer! (Chapter 40-44)

• The manga version of this story was the first appearance of Sonoko Suzuki (while in the anime she made her debut in Valentine Murder Case), as well as the first time that Conan solved a murder through her (which in the anime was first done in A June Bride Murder Case). The manga version established that she never met Conan until now.
• The anime version ends with Ran bringing up Sonoko's deduction of the case. Conan is worried as his cover might be blown, only for Sonoko to accept the credit for solving the murder. The manga placed this at the beginning of the Karaoke Box Murder Case.
  • Additionally in the manga, Kogoro and Shinichi briefly are shown in the background when Sonoko claims that they couldn't measure up to her deduction skills.

Akaoni Village Fire Festival Murder Case (Episode 38)/An Advantageous Shadow, A Perfect Alibi & The Picture Speaks (Chapter 10-12)

• The manga version of the story sets up Conan being in school, as well as introducing his newly created Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes (which he tries while playing soccer while at the grade school soccer field). While the anime presents the Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes in "The Shinkansen's Bomb Case", the scenes with Conan being set up in elementary school weren't used in the anime.

Karaoke Box Murder Case (Episode 42)/The Karaoke Killer!, Suicide or Homicide?, The Mystery Hidden In The Song & How Lives Cross... (Chapter 45-48)

• This episode takes place right after Mountain Villa Bandaged Man Murder Case, with Ran bringing up Sonoko's deduction of the case. Conan is worried as his cover might be blown, only for Sonoko to accept the credit for solving the murder and claiming that Kogoro and Shinichi don't measure up to her (with the manga showing both detectives in the background). The scene as a whole was used at the end of the Mountain Villa Bandaged Murder Case episode.
  • In the anime version, Sonoko brings up Tatsuya when Ran asks if she has a guy in her life, whereas the manga version has Ran asking about Masaru Ohta (from the Mountain Villa Case), only for Sonoko to express disinterest for him as she is interested in Tatsuya.
• In the manga, Tatsuya was depicted as somewhat drunk up until his death. Immediately before his death, he coughed up blood before collapsing on to the floor.
• The manga reveals that Tatsuya was rude to his band, because he didn't want them to miss him after he left.
• The anime ends with Ran receiving her present, whereas the manga ends with her trying to find Shinichi (while Conan is shown, nervously hiding).

Conan Edogawa Kidnapping Case (Episode 43)/Conan Kidnapping Case 1 & Conan Kidnapping Case 2 (Chapter 49-51)

• After Fumiko and Conan get into the car crash, another driver yells back, calling her an old hag with Fumiko taking offense to the insult. The anime omits and the couple following moments:
  • After stating that he won't allow Conan to live as he knows about the Organization, Night Baron states that he'll be dissected anyway and that he can claim that Conan tried to escape.
  • After fooling Masao, but before requesting the use of the room phone, Conan thinks to himself that he needs to hurry into the room of two Organization members to save the man they're meeting with and secure one of the pills for a possible cure.
• The anime adds a brief scene following Fumiko claiming that Conan has a crush on Ran. Ran questions Conan on whether it's true, while Conan glares at his mom with annoyance.

The Mist Goblin Legend Murder Case (Episode 52)/The Fasting Room, The Sakura Blossoms and the Hole in the Wall and The Power Of Levitation (Chapter 108-110)

• The anime version starts off with Conan, Ran and Kogoro looking at the cherry blossom trees, as well as Conan recaps his first encounter with Gin & Vodka. The scene ends with Conan, Ran & Kogoro having their picture taken.

Season 3 - Episodes 55-82

Night Baron Murder Case (Episode 68-70)/Night Baron, The Terrible Virus, Underneath the Mask, Ran's Tears, A Trick of the Wind!? and Secret of the Fall Spot (Chapter 72-77)

• In the manga, when Ran goes to tell her drunk father about the death of Tokio Ebara, Kogoro jumps at her and flirts with her as he mistakenly takes her for Hideko Kamijo leading to Ran slapping him. In the anime, this scene was removed entirely, probably for fear of being too controversial with its incestuous undertone.

The Triplet's Country Home Murder Case (Episode 72)/The Witnesses Are...!?, The Triplet Suspects and Really Sad Brotherly Bonds (Chapter 122-124)

• In the manga, Conan's second attempt to fire a tranquilizer dart at Sonoko is foiled by Ran who catches him behind the door, prompting him to get Ran and Sonoko to solve the mystery together. When his question fails to guide them in the right direction, Conan tries and succeeds at firing his dart. In the anime, he is successful on his second attempt.

Distinguished Family's Consecutive Accidental Death Case (Episode 77-78)/The Blood-Stained Bandage, White Murder, Truth of the Telephone and Bonds of Flame (Chapter 150-153)

• In the manga, Conan replaced the gasoline that the killer intended to use by emptying the geyser. In the anime, he replaced the gasoline with water.

Season 4 - Episodes 83-106

Ski Lodge Murder Case (Episode 84-85)/An Unexpected Crew, The Last Guest, Gone, The Disappearing Rope and Truth From Tears (Chapter 139-143)

• The reason why Conan refrains from knocking out Ran is due to her nearly finding out his identity in The Cornered Famous Detective! Two Big Murder Cases. The anime omits this reason as it places the two stories in a different order.

The Bank Robber's Hospitalization Case (Episode 91)/What Should We Do!? (Chapter 166)

• The following scenes were made for the anime version:
  • Kogoro getting his leg broken & asking the paramedics to take him to Yoko's show, as well as the Detective Boys looking for his hospital room.
  • Mr. Sekiguchi tells the Detective Boys about the bank robbery with a flashback shown.
  • After Yoshio leaves the room, Kogoro and the Detective Boys talk about where the bank robbers could be hiding with Kogoro making a joke about them being in the suburbs. Genta responds hoping that his other leg gets broken with Mitsuhiko stating that they should let him be hospitalized forever. Kogoro asks Mr. Sekiguchi for his input only to find he fell asleep and thinks he's just tired. He then asks the Detective Boys to take him to the lobby so he can watch Yoko. A radio is shown taped under his bed.
  • A flashback detailing the car accident.
  • The Detective Boys moving Kogoro to the lobby with Conan accidentally getting kicked in the face by Kogoro's casted leg.
  • Ran coming to check up on Kogoro only to find him dancing in the lobby while watching Yoko. Kogoro twists his other ankle, with Ran ignoring him.

Season 5 - Episodes 107-134

The Mystery Writer Disappearance Case (Episode 116-117) / Mystery Writer Case (Chapter 182-184)

• While Ran and Kogoro are arguing over which shows to watch, Conan recalls Haibara reminding him that if he wants to get his body back, he needs to help Kogoro to become a real detective. Doing so will result in more leads to the Organization. In the anime, he reminds himself of the objective as Haibara doesn't show up until "The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case", whereas the manga version of Episode 116-117 follows it.

The Black Organization: One Billion Yen Robbery Case (Episode 128)

• This anime-only episode was designed to repair the major plot error that occurred because Akemi Miyano was left alive in the anime version of "The Strange Person Hunt Murder Case". Akemi's death was necessary to motivate Shiho Miyano to betray the Black Organization. To fix this error, The Black Organization: One Billion Yen Robbery Case has Gin and Vodka kill Akemi after a successful bank robbery. Though the ending portion is more faithful to the manga portion, a silhouette of Shiho (which was shown when Akemi demanded for herself and her sister to be freed) was left of.

The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case (Episode 129) / Murdered Professor Case (179-181)

• In the manga, the story immediately cuts to Dr. Agasa's house after Haibara mockingly tells Conan that Dr. Agasa is "in another world". In the anime, Haibara's exchange with Conan goes on a bit longer; she mockingly notes that Dr. Agasa is the only reason that Shinichi can function as a child detective, prompting Conan to ask if this is why she killed Dr. Agasa.
  • In addition, the anime stretches out the tension of this scene much longer, by depicting Conan investigating Dr. Agasa's apparently-empty house before the professor appears alive and well.
• In the manga, the fashion magazine Haibara reads is Can Can, an obvious parody of Japan's Com Com magazine. The anime changes the magazine's name to a generic Fashion.
• The anime adds furigana and three extra people to the list of people poisoned by APTX 4869.

Season 7 - Episodes 163-193

The Secret of the Moon, the Star, and the Sun (Episodes 163-164) / Moon, Star, and Sun Case (Chapters 111-113)

The voice-changing pen

• In the manga version, the voice-changer is created in the form of a pen instead of the Kamen Yaiba Voice Changer.

Reunion with the Black Organization (Episodes 176-178) / Hotel Party Murder Case (Chapters 238-242)

• In the scene just before Conan gives Haibara his glasses, Shiho recalls her nightmare about Gin killing Conan, the Detective Boys, and the rest of her friends. In the manga, Gin's body and face are spattered with blood. The anime version removes the bloody spatter, presumably because of the implied violence.
• The anime version of this case features a unique scene where Gin and Vodka calmly walk through a busy street on the way back to Gin's Porsche, forcing all traffic to a halt. One driver attempts to yell at Gin, only to be silenced by an intimidating stare.
• The anime version omits a brief questioning scene where the seven suspects that had purple handkerchiefs are being called for individually by Megure for interrogation. Vermouth looks out the window, presumably for Gin and Vodka who are about to arrive.
• Conan's notebook diagram of the locations of the seven suspects at the time of the murder is different in the anime.
• The anime omits Vodka shooting the lock out of the storage room with a silenced handgun.
• In the newspaper picture that shows Pisco aiming at the chandelier, the figure is very difficult to see in the anime, which makes this clue nearly useless. The manga version shows the person's raised arm clearly.
• In the manga, Vodka accurately shoots at the door where Conan is hiding at adult height. In the anime, the animators mistook the muzzle flashes of the gun for wall impacts and thus depicted Vodka shooting wildly.

The Desperate Revival: The Wounded Great Detective (Episode 189) / One's Trust & An Infatuated Heart (Chapter 253-254)

• When thinking over whether to tell Ran his secret, in the manga version, Shinichi recalls his parents' parting words from The Cornered Famous Detective! Two Big Murder Cases. The anime omits this scene.

The Desperate Revival: The Third Choice (Episode 190) / The Intruder's Sudden Arrival & Concealed Truth (Chapter 255-256)

• In the anime, after it's revealed that Shinichi is really Heiji, Megure made a comment about how they don't need anyone else showing idiotic behavior like Kogoro (prompting an annoyed stare by Kogoro, with Megure passing his comment as a joke).

And Then There Were No Mermaids (Manga 279-283: Anime 222-224)

Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story 4 (Episodes 253-254) / Sato's Omiai Case 1 & Sato's Omiai Case 2 (Files 328-330)

• After being told by Mamehara that the culprit was wearing a coat over black clothes and height being 5'6, Takagi thinks of Kamieda who is of that height, but not wearing black clothing. Immediately after in the manga, he thinks of the other accounts given by the other two witnesses, with the anime cutting off after considering Kamieda.
• File 328 ends with Sato agreeing to Shiratori's deal. File 329 follows up immediately with her specifying that Takagi is given until sunset to pick her up, with Conan, Ran, Sonoko and Araide commenting on their discussion. Episode 253 switches that scene to follow Takagi and Chiba's reflection on the robbery clues given to them by the witnesses and deciding to question the suspects.
• Unlike the manga, Part 2 of the episode in the anime shows Takagi recapping the robbery, the suspects and the witnesses to Conan (who's calling as Shinichi).

The Man from Chicago (Episodes 259-260) / Kidnapped Tourist Case (Files 325-327)

• The animal show is a bit longer in the anime with it starting of with a clown, bear, elephants and horses. Also, the manga starts with showing the exterior of the building, while the anime doesn't.

• Mika's recollection of Saburo digging Chiyoko's husband out is accompanied by a still image of the event.
• After Yuzo and Hajime recommends that everyone returns to the lodge or stay outside freezing, Conan is contemplating the details found at the crime scene due to Episode 266 ending at that point.
• A flashback is shown when Mika mentioned Yoshitaka cutting himself while chopping chocolate.
• Conan's realization of who the murderer at the end of Episode 267 is accompanied with a picture of The Criminal.

The Secret Rushed Omission (Episodes 271-272) / Escalator Message Case 1 & Escalator Message Case 2 (Files 338-340)

• As Ran is distracted by trying to remember more about the man with a black cap and Shinichi's disappearance, the anime adds a scene where Sonoko is try to get Ran's attention before Jodie takes notice that the former isn't focusing on the assignment.
• Episode 271 ends with Conan questioning why the □ symbol is larger than the other with the screen zooming out on him while showing all symbols in the background.
• The anime shows Conan sneezing after Sonoko talks about how Shinichi lacks an understanding on certain subjects.

English Teacher vs. Great Western Detective (Episodes 277-278) / Flying Neighbor Case (Files 341-343)

Jodie's copies have uneven borders, highlighted in red.

The anime version of these pictures has many mistakes.

• Jodie Starling's copies of the pictures of Ran and Conan on Vermouth's dartboard have irregular borders indicating they were photographs of Vermouth's pictures. This important clue that Jodie was not Vermouth was overlooked by the anime which drew the edges evenly. The anime version also removed the word "Angel" from Ran's photo. The cursive "cool guy" on Conan's photo was accidentally written in the anime as "cool gay", probably because the animators were not used to English cursive. Another evidence showing that Jodie was investigating Doctor Araide was also altered in the anime adaptation. While the person standing in front of Sonoko was drawn with brown hair and glasses in the manga, the animators totally omitted the glasses and colored his hair black, which might give the watchers a wrong impression that the person was Shinichi, who also participated in the school drama with those students.

The Truth of the Haunted House (Episode 274-275) / Haunted Apartment Case (File 355-357)

• In the manga version, this case takes place right after Shinichi Kudo's New York Case, which actually aired later in the anime series. At the beginning, Conan is shown disguising his voice as Shinichi's and asking Ran about her sickness over the phone. He also tells her that the serial killer they encountered in New York was actually murdered, because it would be unusual for someone to erase his fingerprints and blood trails if he decided to commit suicide. In the anime version, this scene didn't happen until the end of Episode 288, and in this case it was replaced with Sonoko talking to Ran in her bedroom instead.

Chinatown Deja Vu in the Rain (Episode 284-285) / Chinatown Murder Case (File 347-349)

• The anime version of this case features an original character named Mike Hama, an actor who stars in a private detective TV drama. After the misunderstanding with the restaurant coupons is cleared up, Hama tells Ran that she would make a perfect movie star.

• Because of the rearrangement on the airing order, in the anime version, the ending part of this case is included with the scene of Conan (using Shinichi's voice) discussing with Ran about the events back in New York, which should have been the beginning of The Truth of the Haunted House in the original manga series where it takes place right after this case.

Mitsuhiko's Mystifying Forest (Episodes 289-290) / Disappearing Mitsuhiko Case (File 358-360)

• The anime shows the train arriving to Gunma, following with the Detective Boys asking the train station employee there about Mitsuhiko. The manga just transitions to the group just having arrived at Gunma after hearing about that he might have gone there.
• After learning that Ki'ichiro Numabuchi is loose in the forest, Conan has a flashback in the anime to his previous encounter with Numabuchi.
• Episode 289's ending adds a scene with Numabuchi continuing to evade the police after Mitsuhiko discovers Conan and company are trying to contact him.

Solitary Island of the Princess and the Dragon King's Palace (Episodes 291-293) / Mysterious Words Case 1 & Mysterious Words Case 2 (File 361-365)

• In the manga, Kazuha's belief that Kogoro would launch a rescue mission to get everybody off the island was followed with Heiji and Conan voicing their disbelief, then finished with a cut to Kogoro having dinner with Hyogo Kaneshiro. In the anime, Heiji and Conan's response was switched after the cut made to Kogoro.

Parade of Malice and Saint (Episode 301-302) / Parade Bomber Case (File 366-368)

• After the scene where Sato informs Takagi that they need to talk later, the anime follows on with Conan reflecting on who the murderer could be, the motive and whether or not he/she was caught on tape.

• In the manga version, not much is known about the bombing case that happened 7 years ago. Kenji Hagiwara also doesn't receive any specific character design like he does in the anime version, as he is only mentioned by name.

• The scenes where Chianti and Korn are shown practicing their sniping skill with virtual targets and Vermouth observing Kiriko Busujima at the beginning of the anime episode are not from the original manga.
• In addition, a scene with a shadow looking Rena's apartment, which has been revealed that it was Jodie spying Rena Mizunashi, and a hint that was Kimiwa, found in the adjoining apartment, and that was actually Miwako Takagi was written by Detective Takagi while observed a suspect's girlfriend, both are also exclusive from anime.
• When Jodie shoots the sprinklers to stop the Black Organization snipers, Kir hears the silenced gunshots. In the manga, Kir just turns her head slightly to see the broken sprinkler. In the anime, she turns her whole body towards the sprinkler in order to look which was an animation mistake. Her pin is a camera and would have broadcast the video of Jodie and the broken sprinkler to Gin, Vodka and Vermouth.

Clash of Red and Black (Episode 491-504)/Kir Transport Case (Chapter 599-609)

• In the manga, it was never mentioned how Akai and Akemi first met. But in Episode 497, it was shown in a flashback that Shuichi Akai originally met Akemi by an intentional accident. She accidentally hit him with her car when he deliberately walked into the street in front of her in order to be hit by her.
• In the manga, Kusuda's gun resembles a Glock pistol. However, in episode 497, it resembles more of a M1911 model pistol.
• In the manga, there is a scene in which a Black Organization guard is spying on Kir when she is confronted by Gin. However, in episode 502, this scene is omitted from the anime.
• Akai's face after he was killed by Kir was only shown once in the anime instead of twice like the manga, presumably because of the violence and blood. The two panels of Akai's face in the manga showed that Akai's head moved and his face became clean while Kir stepped away from the truck, proving that a body swap took place and Akai was really faking his death. The anime's censorship removed this clue entirely, which is especially unfortunate because it is the only truly definitive evidence that Akai's death was faked prior to Okiya revealing himself to be Akai.

Kaitou Kid's Teleportation Magic (Episode 515)/Kaitou Kid and the Purple Nail (Chapter 631-634)

• The anime shows various supporting characters watching the second day of Kid's heist on television, including Dr. Agasa and the Detective Boys, Subaru Okiya, Eri Kisaki, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Most notably, Heiji Hattori and Kazuha Toyama are also watching the event from Osaka, when Heiji suddenly receives a call from Inspector Otaki about a murder case involving a centipede.
• The anime omits various details from the appearance of Kaitou Kid's accomplice. In the manga version, these details clearly illustrate that the accomplice is meant to be Jii.

The Blue Spark of Hate (Episode 524-525)/Burn, Cause of Fire and Crackle (Chapter 635-637)

• The scene in which Conan & Heiji was reflecting on Shinichi holding Ran's hand during his transformation was from the manga version of The Revolving Sushi Mystery, Part 1, but was included due to following up on What She Really Wants to Ask.

• Superintendent Matsumoto's flashback of the serial killer attacking is moved to the very beginning to the story arc, before the scar and ginger case even begins.
• In the manga, there is a scene where Conan fetches the two candidates for Lady Shodo's fortune and persuades them to come eat the sushi that Lady Shodo has laid out for them, by claiming that the boy of Lady Shodo's memories loved to eat sushi. This scene is cut in the anime.
• In the manga, one of the candidates for the fortune - Banba - justifies his pursuit of Lady Shodo's fortune by stating that as an adult, he has different circumstances to consider than he did as a child. This line is cut in the anime.
• The song that the serial killer whistles is explicitly identified as Paul McCartney's "Let it Be" in the manga; the anime changes the melody to an entirely different one and merely describes it as "a song that was popular twenty years ago", likely to avoid royalty issues.
• In the manga, Inspector Megure relays the additional information about the serial killer to Superintendent Matsumoto at the latter's desk (as the superintendent has just been jolted from the flashback mentioned above); in the anime, the two men have this exchange while looking into an interrogation room.
• In the anime, when Takagi is shot and wounded there's an additional sequence where he falls on his back, calling out Satou's name before he passes out.

The Revolving Sushi Mystery (Episode 549-550)/Sushi Bar Murder Case (Chapter 655-657)

• The manga version of this story followed What She Really Wants to Ask, and had Conan & Heiji reflecting on Shinichi holding Ran's hand during his transformation. The scene was instead used in the anime episode The Blue Spark of Hate, Part 1.

• In the manga, when Conan accepts Diana's invitation to visit her in London, Azusa Enomoto mentions in an obviously stunned manner that Conan can speak English, an observation also made by Ran. In the anime, while still taking place in the Café Poirot, Azusa is completely omitted from the scene. Instead, Kogoro takes over her role of noticing Conan's ability to speak English.

Satan (Episode 616)/Ask Holmes (Chapter 743)

• In the manga, Hades Sabara's past is elaborated on in more detail. Shinichi reads online that after his mother died, Hades invited the acquaintances hounding him for money to his house where he slaughtered them all. One week later, he went to the home of the friend who suggested he invest in the stock market; not only did Hades murder the entire family, but he ripped out all of their hearts. While the online source did not explain the reason behind such brutality, Shinichi speculated that his mother's serious disease could have been related to the heart. The omission is likely due to the dark nature of the crimes and the gruesome background panel accompanying the story of Sabara's past in the manga, an image which was likely too graphic for animation.

The aftermath of the earthquake

The manga version of this case featured an earthquake between the hide and seek scenes and Genta discovering the knocking. This scene was removed from the anime out of sensitivity to the recent Tōhoku earthquake that occurred in March 2011. In the deleted section, Conan was the seeker and had just finished finding everyone except Genta when the earthquake struck. After recovering, they asked Genta to return to the first floor using the detective badge so they could leave in case of aftershocks. Genta was upset that the game was ending prematurely and yelled into the detective badge. Genta then heard the knocking. The Detective Boys were worried the knocking signaled someone was trapped in the building because of the earthquake, so they investigated and encountered the two workers.

Conan vs. Heiji, Deduction Battle Between the Detectives of the East and West (Episode 651) / Which One is the Greater Detective (File 778-790)

Detectives' Nocturne (Episode 671-674) / Online Client (File 796-800)

• Due to the fact that these four episodes were adapted from only five manga chapters, to fill in the timing, the anime version of the case was included with a few additional scenes that were not from the original manga. One of such scenes showed Subaru waiting for Agasa and Ai inside of his car in front of Agasa's house, before they started moving. He was shown secretly listening to something with a device, and immediately hid it when the two people came out. It was never explained what exactly he was listening to. Aside from this, there were also some small additional dialogues during the whole case that weren't originated from the manga.
• In the manga version, right before Amuro crashed his car, Amuro told Kogoro to put on his seatbelt in the backseat. In the anime version, Kogoro was already wearing his seatbelt, so Amuro told him to stay as he is.
• Color changes:
  • In the manga Kei Kashitsuka's hair is brown, while in the anime it is black.
  • In the manga Subaru's car is white-colored, but it is changed into red in the anime, which may be a possible reference to Shuichi Akai.
  • In the manga Vermouth's cellphone is black, but it is changed into white in the anime.
  • In the manga Amuro's cellphone is white, but it is changed into black in the anime.

• In the manga, it's mentioned that Rokumichi would habitually pull all-nighters to work on song lyrics. He would make a conscious effort to stay up long enough to watch the sunrise with a coffee in hand. Okuyasu notes that he and Rokumichi bonded over mountain climbing. Following a concert, the two would set up camp after climbing and later watch the morning sunrise. These conversations are omitted from the anime.
• Despite his membership in a mountain climbing club, Hirokazu claims he never learned how to tie a knot. His inability to tie a knot was not established in the anime version.
• In the manga, Rokumichi's eyes are shown to be open after the body has been brought down. The medical examiner can be seen physically inspecting the body for rigor mortis and the eye for dilution. In the anime, his eyes are shut during examination and no mention is made of rigor mortis.
• In the manga, it’s mentioned that Rokumichi had a blog. Hirokazu notes that the popular musician wrote about his desire to “die on stage” when his time came, suggesting that the murder was perhaps committed by a devoted fan. No mention of a blog is made in the anime.

Kogoro wants to eat something another client ordered, but Ran reminds him he has cholesterol. These reactions didn't make it to the anime adaptation.
• In the manga, when the victim arrives at the restaurant, she doesn't say anything and goes to the loos right away. In the anime, she immediately declares she knows the one who stole her pouch is in the restaurant.

Lawyer Kisaki's SOS (Episode 901-902) / Eri Kisaki Abduction Case (File 984-986)

• When Kogoro reads the synopsis of the movie he's going to watch with Eri at the beginning of episode 901, small characters are drawn in the background to illustrate what Kogoro is reading. This was not in the manga.
• During her abduction scene, Goro tries to attack the culprits before they lock him in a room. This was not in the manga.
• In the manga, Eri doesn't think of opening the door when she's in the garage trying to escape. The anime version corrected this.
• There are more scenes where the culprits try to find Eri.
• Eri takes off her high heels in the anime in order not go unnoticed.
• Kogoro doesn't find the building in which Eri is held captive right away like in the manga. He has to search for a few minutes before finding it.
• Takagi doesn't take the criminals to the police car at the end of the case.
• Kogoro and Eri have more lines when they bicker at the cinema.
