Intrigue at the Food Court (フードコートの陰謀 ,Fūdokōto no inbō) is the 936th episode of the Detective Conan anime and is the pre-story for the 23rd movie, The Fist of Blue Sapphire.

Case

Ayumi, Mitsuhiko and Genta are on their way to the Beika Central Park, where a coupled food event, the Beika City Farmer's Market, and a police event, where Inspector Megure is to give a speech, are taking place, since Genta is especially interested in an offer which promises free food for gradeschoolers and younger. (Professor has gone to Hokkaido, and Conan and Ai is not featured in this episode.) However, they become unwitting earwitnesses to a conversation which bears a rather sinister tone...

Location: Beika Park Victim: Visitors to the Farmer's Market Time: a few hours ago Weapons: Explosives? Suspects: Yuji Yamawaki, Kaori Kanno and Nobuo Kadokura While talking about going to the farmer's market event at Beika Park, the Detective Boys see a food truck for the restaurant Marina where three people were talking. They eavesdrop the conversation and hear the members planning to have an explosive time. Is there really a bombing happening?

In order to catch them in flagranti, the Detective Boys split up, each of them following one suspect: Genta follows Yamawaki, Ayumi goes after Kanno, and Mitsuhiko shadows Kadokura. However, despite all precautions, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko are noticed and approached by their suspects. Thus confronted, they tell the kids that there isn't any bomb, that they're working at a local restaurant, and that they were just trying to gather the necessary material for the dish they'll prepare for the Market as an advertisement: Singapore's national dish, Chicken Rice. They serve it to the Detective Boys as an exception to dispel all suspicions. As the Detectve Boys leave, they run into Sato and Takagi, whom they tell about these friendly people.

The restaurant workers were in fact really planning an assassination. Just after leaving the Detective Boys, Sato and Takagi, the three suspects enter their truck and prepare a few bombs and inflammable fuels. They planned to take revenge on Juzo Megure, who arrested Nobuo Kadokura after a failed robbery seven years ago. They had first gotten into the restaurant, stolen the employees' IDs, and make them prepare some chicken rice in advance before holding them hostage in the restaurant's back room. They acquired the explosives on an illegal website, and the cigarette shop was the drop-off point. The bomb-maker was also arrested.

However, just before they can execute their plan, they are arrested by Megure and the police on site. In fact, their plan didn't work since there was one detail the Detective Boys told Takagi and Sato about. The star on the van's logo wasn't related to stargazing, as they had told the children, but to the country the restaurant originates from: Singapore, which is called Star Country, something that every worker of the restaurant should know.

Illegal sales / Bomb making
	Location: Shimomura Cigarettes shop Culprit: Man living in the building The man used the cigarette shop as a drop-off and trading site for the bombs and operated a website selling them. The special operation team arrested them.

Aftermath

Unaware that the case has been cracked with their help, the Detective Boys decided to pay a visit to Professor Agasa.

Trivia

• The Singaporean restaurant Marina where the suspects work at is named after the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore which will be featured as one of the key locations in Movie 23.
• This is the first episode where Inspector Megure is seen in a police uniform instead of plain clothes.
• Several vans featured in the event bear the national flag colors of Germany and Singapore.
