Intrigue at the Food Court (フードコートの陰謀 ,Fūdokōto no inbō) is the 936th episode of the Detective Conan anime and is the pre-story for the 23rd movie, The Fist of Blue Sapphire.

Case

Ayumi, Mitsuhiko and Genta are on their way to the Beika Central Park, where a food event, the Beika City Farmer's Market, since Genta is especially interested in an offer which promises free food for gradschoolers and younger. (Professor has gone to Hokkaido, and Conan and Ai is not featured in this episode.) However, they become unwitting earwitnesses to a conversation which bears a rather sinister tone...

Location: Beika Park Victim: Visitors to the Farmer's Market Time: a few hours ago Weapons: Explosives? Suspects: Yuji Yamawaki, Kaori Kanno and Nobuo Kadokura While talking about going to the farmer's market event at Beika Park, the Detective Boys see a food truck for the restaurant Marina where three people were talking. They eavesdrop the conversation and hear the members planning to have an explosive time. Is there really a bombing happening?

They tell the kids there wasn't any bomb and that they were just trying to find the necessary material for the dish they'll prepare for the Market: Singapore's national dish, Chicken Rice. They then serve it to the Detective Boys as an exception since they aren't opened yet to dispel all suspicion.

They were in fact really planning to explode the site. Just after leaving the Detective Boys, Sato and Takagi, the three suspects enter their truck and take out a few bombs and fuel to explode the site. They planned to take revenge on Juzo Megure after Nobuo Kadokura was arrested after a failed robbery seven years ago. They planned to set the bombs next to the truck's fuel tanks to maximize the damages but as they said Megure's name, the inspector bursted in the truck with the police and arrested Kaori Kanno, Yuji Yamawaki and Nobuo Kadokura. Their plan was to first get into the restaurant, steal the employees' ID and make them prepare the chicken in advance before keeping them hostage in the restaurant's back room then get the bomb they found on an illegal website at the cigarette shop which was concealed under a pack flyers. Another man was arrested by the police as the bomb-maker at the cigarette shop under the surprised look of Mrs. Shimomura and the restaurant staff was freed. In fact, their plan didn't work since there was one detail the Detective Boys found and reported to the police: the star on the logo wasn't related to stargazing but to the country the restaurant originates, Singapore who is called Star Country which meant that every worker of the restaurant should know it. The culprits are then sad their plan didn't work just because of it.

	Location: Beika Time: 7 years ago Weapons: unknown Culprit: Nobuo Kadokura Kadokura robbed a bank 7 years ago but Megure found out quickly and he was arrested which resulted in his plan failing which is why Kadokura resents him.

Illegal sales / Bomb making
	Location: Shimomura Cigarettes shop Culprit: Man living in the building The man used the cigarette shop as a drop-off and trading site for the bombs and operated a website selling them. The special operation team arrested them.

Aftermath

At the end, the Detective Boys head quickly to Professor Agasa's house since Genta is hungry and they complain about Conan not being there.

Trivia

• The Singaporean restaurant Marina where the suspects work at is named after the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore which will be featured as one of the key locations in Movie 23.
• This is the first episode where Inspector Megure is seen in a police uniform instead of plain clothes.
• Several vans featured in the event bear the national flag colors of Germany and China.
