Hiroaki Takagi (高木 啓明 Takagi Hiroaki?), also credited as "髙木啓明", is a Japanese organizer, storyboard artist and animator. He was formerly affiliated with Studio Wanpack.

Biography

Hiroaki Takagi started being active as an animator in 2014. He started working in Detective Conan as key animator in Episode 750: The Man Who Was Betrayed by the Sea and has since been key animator in the episodes animated by Studio Wanpack. In 2016, he first became assistant animation director in Episode 842: Turning Point on a Driving Date. He has also started to work as assistant episode director, and episode director since Episode 872: Conan and Heiji's Nue Legend (Squealing).

After Studio Wanpack disbanded in 2018, he along with Miho Tanaka and Yui Ushinohama from the same studio continued to work in Detective Conan. In 2019, he first worked as storyboad artist in the case Episodes 944~945: The Cost of Likes.

He is famously-known for his abundance of the resplendent ideas when working on the episode direction for animation works. He usually contributes to several interesting scenes, even if the overall production is poor, he can still perform impressively. In 2023, he became a director for the first time and was in charge of the direction of the anime My One-Hit Kill Sister (異世界ワンターンキル姉さん〜姉同伴の異世界生活はじめました〜): in the first episode, he was responsible for the storyboard and devised more than 20 battle key shots; he also invited Jun Arai (新井 淳) to serve as the effects animation director, and the general atmosphere of the anime suggested a strong "Yoshinori Kanada style". Likewise, in the Detective Conan anime, his storyboard and episode directions are rather mesmerising and charming - he uses desaturated colour tones and unique colour filters to articulate the case characters' emotions and thoughts, the most typical example would be Episode 1010: The Idol Whose Smile Disappeared.
