Conan, Ran, and Kogoro are having dinner at Restaurant Danny's when they witness Ryuta Someya punch Yasuo Nashimoto in the face. Kogoro calls the police while Ryuta flees from the restaurant.

The culprit is Yasuo Nashimoto. Contrary to his previous claims, it is he stalking Konaka instead of Someya, who is actually Konaka's boyfriend. Conan uses his power-enhancing shoes to disarm the culprit.

Trivia

• The film Running in Handcuffs, of which Takagi is such a huge fanatic, is a fictional titular variation of the 1958 film The Defiant Ones, starring Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis, which sports a similar plot of two men bonding with each other while chained together.
• The plot shares also some similarities with The Wind Is Hot in Morocco, the 30th episode of the anime series Lupin III Part II , where Lupin III and Inspector Zenigata must flee a group of war fanatcis chain-linked to each other by their necks.
