After a 3 month hiatus, Kaito Kid sends a notice for a Christmas Eve heist of a Grand Christmas Tree Star.
Story
3 months earlier, Jii injured his back and could not get information on gems for Kaito's heists due to being bedridden. Kaito also had Winter exams to also focus on leaving many to wonder what happened to Kaito Kid. After a notice is sent to the local news station for a heist on Christmas Eve for the Grand Christmas Tree Giant's Star at the Tofu Dept. Store, it is revealed in secret the Dept. President Zaizen sent a fake notice and has a subordinate play Kid to boost their sales and bring revenue. In return for being disguised as Kid, the man will be promoted to Vice President, to which the man accepts the role. Kaito, unaware of the false notice, is helping Aoko prepare Christmas decorations and a dinner.
At the tree with the Giant's Star, Nakamori gives a warning to Kid on-air about bringing him a world of hurt, while Kaito is still at the party with Aoko who invited their friends. After a while, Inspector Nakamori calls Aoko to say he will be late because of the Kid heist, which confuses Kaito himself as he sent no notice or planned a heist. Upon seeing Zaizen on TV promoting Kid themed products, he sneaks out of the party and arrives just as the police arrest the fake Kid. His magic trick is igniting the tinsel on the tree, break the base, and topple-crashes the tree into the store with the star opening the president's office.

Resolution
As Kid leaves, Inspector Nakamori says he doesn't know what to do if Kid leaves again without warning, to which he responds to never run nor hide. Upon disappearing, Kid leave Inspector Nakamori a flower wishing Merry Christmas, as the Inspector grins with glee. After Kaito and Inspector Nakamori return home, Kaito is starving only to find all the food eaten, and the Inspector sees the Giant's Star on his tree, but dismisses it as impossible.
