 Akashi dismisses the deduction, and shows his sports newspaper which is free from bloodstains and holes. Kogoro says that Akashi still has a newspaper because he bought two, one in Osaka’s train station, and another sometime before that. He points to the newspaper Akashi is holding and says it has a different headline from the one that he bought (i.e. Akashi’s has the headline “World Cup Hero Under Police Interrogation” and Kogoro’s has the headline “World Cup Hero Officially Under Arrest”), meaning that Akashi definitely did not buy it from the station. The detective explains there is a difference in the headlines because Japanese newspapers are delivered to convenience stores and households much earlier than to train stations—meaning that if there is a rapidly-developing event, edits will be made after the convenience store/household delivery but still before the train station delivery.<br>
