			Inspector Sango Yokomizo arrives at the cliff's edge and assesses the situation. The breaks were cut using a lock pick with great skill and the only object found in the wreckage of the car was the leaking cooler tank that was placed in the back of the car. Meanwhile, Conan internally begins to narrow his list of suspects down. He notes that Makoto could not be the culprit as he had entered the restaurant well before the car had begun to roll. Additionally, Tadahiko is innocent as he had been with himself and Ran throughout the duration of the meal. Sango then offers Sonoko a ride to the police station, but having just experienced a harrowing incident involving a vehicle, Sonoko expresses her hesitancy. Tadahiko offers to join her in walking to the station, which the girl accepts despite Sango's warnings.<br>
			The group discusses their predicament on the walk over, mentioning that their belongings, including Sonoko's camera and stack of photographs were lost in the wreckage. Sonoko assures Ran she still possesses the photo she intends to show Shinichi, having kept it on her for safety. They then notice Terabayashi tailing them. Believing him to be dangerous, Tadahiko grabs Sonoko by the arm and leads her off road and into the forest.<br>
			The group splits in two to better evade their pursuer. Ran and Conan sneak around the exhausted man and prepare to launch a counter attack. Terabayashi is caught off guard and accidentally stabs his naked foot on a fallen branch, causing him to fall. Ran rolls up the man's sleeve hoping to find Sonoko's bite mark but fails to find it on either arm. The man explains that he is a detective from the Chiba Prefectural Police following a suspect from a case he is investigating. Conan, having realized from Terabayashi's injury that one does not wear socks with sandals, runs after Sonoko.

			In another part of the forest, Tadahiko and Sonoko take a break from running. Hearing he had stepped on a branch while running, Sonoko rolls down Tadahiko's sock to check on his injury only to find her bite mark on his hairy leg. She stumbles away in fear as '''Tadahiko Michiwaki''' approaches her with a knife and a murderous grin. He pins her down again and tells her to show him the photo she intends to pass to Shinichi—believing she took a photo of him last night murdering a girl after misapprehending it for a couple having sex in the woods. <br>

Meanwhile, Conan runs through the forest in pursuit. He realized that Tadahiko had seen flash of light from behind him while he was committing his second murder. The flash of light was in actuality from a passing train, but Tadahiko had misinterpreted it as a camera flash coming from Sonoko who he saw through the trees with a camera exploring the festival the night before. Terabayashi says Tadahiko has likely murdered four women. Although he had arrested him once before for car theft, he lacked the evidence to charge him with murder. Having heard of a similar murder occurring in Izu, he traveled to the beaches to scout the area and found Tadahiko once again carrying out his rampage. The detective still wonders how he managed to roll the car down the hill. Conan explains that he likely placed a wedge-shaped block of ice under the front tire. He then purposefully cut the breaks in advance and waited for the engine to melt the ice block, sending the car rolling down the hill. Ran then spots Sonoko in the distance only moments away from being eviscerated.<br>
			Tadahiko explains to Sonoko that ever since a brown-haired girl broke his heart, he was filled with the desire to gruesomely murder girls just like her. He then plunges his knife downward but is blocked by Makoto, who slides in to rescue Sonoko. He quickly elbows Tadahiko away, reminding Ran about his identity. She says he is the captain of the [[Wikipedia: Karate\|karate]] club at [[Haido High School]], nicknamed the "Prince of Kicks." Makoto proceeds to dismantle Tadahiko with his fighting skill, saving Sonoko from what would have been certain death.

			Makoto explains that he had been following Sonoko from a distance, having felt uneasy about her spending time with Tadahiko after seeing him pick up several other girls in the past. Sonoko asks why he is so committed to helping her, to which he replies that he fell in love with her after seeing her ardently cheering on Ran at a karate tournament. He once again showcases his stubborn preference for modest attire, but nonetheless successfully courts Sonoko with his heroic actions.<br>
			A few days later, Ran learns from Sonoko that Makoto has decided to study abroad, citing the lack of meaningful martial arts competition in Japan. Nevertheless, Sonoko shows her resolve to wait for his eventual return.<br>
			However, three days later, Sonoko has returned to her usual romantic pursuits, telling Ran about other attractive boys she can potentially flirt with.
