Kinda like how in Pokemon the Professors are given the "hakase" title in the original Japanese but the English versions translated it as "Professor". But yeah, technically in Japanese "kyōju" is "professor". We'll need a lot of opinions if we make a decision to switch all mentions of "Professor" to "Doctor" for Agasa.
