He had recently suffered the loss of his wife Aoi Kobashi, whom he wanted to make a painting for for her birthday, but committed suicide after not being able to wait for the results of Akashi's painting. He could have regretted not showing the painting to Aoi quicker and accepted his fate so he could be able to ″join her in heaven″.
