In the case, he is the driver who is supposed to transport White Spirits to another ranch but the horse gets kidnapped. As suspicion falls on him, he reveals he was threatened by someone to exchange trucks with them. While Kogoro and Conan investigate, they find out it was in fact a plan hatched by him and three other people to save White Spirits and that Tokuyoshi, the owner, used the fact he knew about the plan to put ''his'' plan into execution. When the truth is revealed, Shiomi and the others go cry over White Spirits since he is safe and later watch a horse race which White Spirits win.
