Heiji Hattori chases after the thief only to run past [[Shinichi Kudo]] and [[Ran Mouri]] on their way back from school. They capture the thief only to suddenly hear a woman scream in a nearby house. When owner Yoshino Fujimaru gets home and lets them in, the three are surprised to find Hideko Nakajima dead on a couch with a shard of glass protruding from her neck. Now it is up to Shinichi and Heiji to figure out why and how she died, as well as to see who is the better detective between the east and the west.
