Shunichi Tanabe, Yuya Eguchi and Yoshihide Takamura first met at Kumamoto College of Technology in 2003<ref>https://www.excite.co.jp/news/article/E1521437679072/</ref>. The band was formed the next year. Its name was inspired from the belief that bands with colors in their names would be successful, while "Encount" came from Hong Kong movie "Blue Encounter", which Tanabe saw in a DVD rental shop<ref>https://gekirock.com/interview/2013/06/blue_encount.php</ref>. In 2006, the band performed as the representative of Kumamoto Prefecture at the [[wikipedia:ja:TEENS' MUSIC FESTIVAL|TEENS' MUSIC FESTIVAL]], but failed to advance to the national tournament. Their first bassist left to pursue their studies, and after Eguchi and Takamura graduated from their technical college, the three remaining members moved to Tokyo to study music at the Tokyo School of Music in Shibuya.
