At the previous day's prom at the Daigo residence, Yu Daigo was struck by love at first sight with a mysterious girl. However, she had to leave early for some reason and only left one of her shoes behind. This is the reason why [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]] and [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] are at the mansion. Yu recalls that after he finished discussing work with his secretary over the phone, she ran away from the prom. Coincidentally, Daigo's call with his secretary contained terms that Reira may have misinterpreted as Daigo having a call with legal officials, leading him to believe that she was in some kind of legal trouble.

The doubts become reality when Yu finds out that his pocket watch inherited from his father has disappeared, most likely taken by that girl. At the police station, [[Miwako Sato|Sato]] and [[Wataru Takagi|Takagi]] are giving photos from criminals that had previously been caught for similar offenses for Yu to confirm who the mysterious girl is. He confirms the appearance of the girl is similar to Reira Made, and gets into the car with the other four to Reira’s house.

When the five arrive at the house, they discover that Reira has been beaten and tied up with some tapes. She is then taken to the hospital with the supervision of Yu and Sato, as the rest decide to investigate the scene with [[Kazunobu Chiba|Chiba]] and some other officers.

Following the testimony of a neighbor and messages from Reira’s phone, the four conclude that Miyako and Juria forced Reira to commit multiple theft and abandoned her when they thought that the police were closing in on Reira. Conan suggests that the four can use the phone to track their whereabouts, only to find a truck that is on its way to dump industrial waste illegally.

It seems as if the investigation would gradually reach a dead end when the four detectives could not find useful information from the neighbors. Then, Kogoro's naive thoughts reminds Conan of something that makes him enter the room where Reira had been found with bruises and tied up.

Just then, Conan, Kogoro, Takagi, and Chiba arrive to warn about Reira’s true nature, having been informed of Conan’s discovery. Kogoro's deduction about Reira’s method to fake her assault is not convincing enough, so Conan has to tranquilize him and begins his deduction instead. He recalls that:

# This time of the year is too cold for blankets and sheets on the luxurious beds, meaning that those beds haven’t been used for a while, suggesting that both Miyako and Juria have been missing for some time.
# The current position of the carpet is different compared to the one from the picture, suggesting that something is off.

[[Conan Edogawa|Conan]], [[Ai Haibara|Haibara]], and the Detective Boys are walking in the street when they see the Silver Detective having helped an old lady find her cat. Just as when the two groups of detectives are having a conversation after not seeing each other for a long time, a woman passing by the street hears the Silver Detective introducing themselves as detectives, and decides to ask them to find her missing husband.

The woman is Machiko Sugamo. Three months ago, the company Shinsuke Sugamo worked in went down, and he had to find a job. However, one morning around half a month ago, Sugamo went out to find a job opportunity, but hadn’t returned since. His whereabouts are unclear while his communication is also unavailable. Both detective groups reassure her that they will soon find him.

Conan suggests two possibilities: Either the husband chose to disappear for some reason or he got caught up in an accident or incident. The Silver Detectives volunteer to investigate the latter route while Conan and the Detective Boys will investigate the former route, and Haibara will look after the elderly so they won’t mess up the scene like last time.

After a while, the Silver Detectives find a useful clue: A man working at Cheetah Delivery saw Shinsuke arguing with Tadao Yuge exactly three months ago, as the latter insisted on not selling his home, and even pushed Sugamo away. Coincidentally, after Haibara's efforts to stop the three elderly from acting recklessly to prove Tadao is guilty fail miserably as they go in and dig his yard, they find the skeleton of a person with a broken rib.

[[Wataru Takagi|Takagi]], [[Juzo Megure|Megure]], and [[Kazunobu Chiba|Chiba]] arrive at the scene with some other officers. Haibara suggests that the person buried in this yard must have been killed. One problem is that could a body dissolve that fast in just half a month? Machiko also arrives at the yard to see if the skeleton belongs to her husband or not. Suddenly, Shinsuke appears with Conan and the Detective Boys. It turns out that he failed to find a job and felt guilty to his wife, to the point where he became very depressed and couldn’t figure out the timing to return. For the time he'd been missing, he had stayed at a friend’s place.

The police bring Tadao to the interrogation room, but soon release him due to the fact that those bones are at least 300 years old, and Tadao couldn’t kill someone at Edo time. This report makes the Silver Detective very depressed, as according to them, he had signs that prove he is not entirely innocent.

Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys decide to investigate Tadao’s acquaintances:

* Shinsuke recalls that Tadao insisted on not selling the home because he wanted to keep his memories of his deceased wife, and wanted the son who ran away to have a place to return to. Sugamo targeted the house since he heard that Tadao was planning to move to the countryside and live quietly, but gave up the intention after what happened to him.
* Shigeko Noda, a neighbor, recounts the events that had happened to Tadao’s family: Four years ago, his son Tatsuya messed things up at work. He resigned from the job and had been very depressed about his self-worth since. Then one day, he disappeared and left no communication to his family while Tadao reassured his wife that their son would be back stronger. However, Tadao’s wife passed away when she was talking with Noda about her son’s whereabouts being unclear for the past year.

After discussing Tatsuya's disappearance with Shigeko, Conan finally realizes what had happened. The Detective Boys gather with the Silver Detectives who are considering disbanding due to their lack of detective abilities when the Detective Boys ask for the Silver Detectives' help with getting a confession out of Tadao.

Confronting Tadao, Conan explains that is is strange that after four years, an earnest son like Tatsuya would have absolutely no contact with his parents. Believing that '''Tadao Yuge''' murdered Tatsuya four years ago, Conan continues by explaining that Tadao could not let his wife know about the fate of their son so Tadao decided to bury his body in the yard. Tadao's horrified reaction to Yasuko notifying him about the discovered skeleton in the yard was likely due to Tadao mistaking the discovered skeleton to be that of his son.

Tadao refutes by explaining that a decomposing body would have an odor that Kazue and the neighbors would have noticed. However, the stench was masked by a house that was full of rubbish that got demolished after the decomposing smell subsided.

Without any concrete evidence, the Silver Detectives attempt to get Tadao to confess to his crimes through compassion as Tadao truly loved his son:

The police are called in to dig up Tatsuya's body after Tadao's confession. Before being taken away Tadao shows his appreciation to the Detective Boys and the Silver Detectives for allowing him to put Tatsuya to rest next to Kazue.

The post-credits scene is set in front of Beika station where the Detective Boys discover the Silver Detectives handing out flyers for their detective services. Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta get angry and start chasing the Silver Detectives around a water fountain because the flyers call the Detective Boys the assistants of the Silver Detectives.

[[Conan Edogawa|Conan]], [[Ran Mouri|Ran]], and [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]] are staking out a door on the fifth floor of an apartment with a package in front of it in search of a package thief. The group gets distracted by a sudden draft of wind that places a leaf inside of Kogoro's clothing which Ran mistakes as a bug. While Kogoro and Ran are trying to get rid of the leaf, Conan notices the package thief running past with the package in hand trying to leave by elevator. The elevator shows the thief stops on the fourth floor and Conan gives chase via the stairs but eventually loses the thief when Conan reaches the fourth floor. Given that the entrance to the apartment building locks automatically and the thief was wearing sandals, the trio concludes the culprit most likely is a resident of the apartment building.

Later, the three go to find residents who knows anyone matching the description of the package thief. They stumble across the resident of room 402 Sumiyoshi who suspects the thief may be his neighbor Nobuhiro. There are some details suggesting that this case is not a simple accident, but a murder:

* His eyes are bloodshot, and his mouth is drooling.

[[Conan Edogawa|Conan]], [[Ai Haibara|Haibara]], and the Detective Boys are walking in the street when they see the Silver Detective having helped an old lady find her cat. Just as when the two groups of detectives are having a conversation after not seeing each other for a long time, a woman passing by the street hears the Silver Detective introducing themselves as detectives, and decides to ask them to find her missing husband.

The woman is Machiko Sugamo. Three months ago, the company Shinsuke Sugamo worked in went down, and he had to find a job. However, one morning around half a month ago, Sugamo went out to find a job opportunity, but hadn’t returned since. His whereabouts are unclear while his communication is also unavailable. Both detective groups reassure her that they will soon find him.

Conan suggests two possibilities: Either the husband chose to disappear for some reason or he got caught up in an accident or incident. The Silver Detectives volunteer to investigate the latter route while Conan and the Detective Boys will investigate the former route, and Haibara will look after the elderly so they won’t mess up the scene like last time.

After a while, the Silver Detectives find a useful clue: A man working at Cheetah Delivery saw Shinsuke arguing with Tadao Yuge exactly three months ago, as the latter insisted on not selling his home, and even pushed Sugamo away. Coincidentally, after Haibara's efforts to stop the three elderly from acting recklessly to prove Tadao is guilty fail miserably as they go in and dig his yard, they find the skeleton of a person with a broken rib.

[[Wataru Takagi|Takagi]], [[Juzo Megure|Megure]], and [[Kazunobu Chiba|Chiba]] arrive at the scene with some other officers. Haibara suggests that the person buried in this yard must have been killed. One problem is that could a body dissolve that fast in just half a month? Machiko also arrives at the yard to see if the skeleton belongs to her husband or not. Suddenly, Shinsuke appears with Conan and the Detective Boys. It turns out that he failed to find a job and felt guilty to his wife, to the point where he became very depressed and couldn’t figure out the timing to return. For the time he'd been missing, he had stayed at a friend’s place.

The police bring Tadao to the interrogation room, but soon release him due to the fact that those bones are at least 300 years old, and Tadao couldn’t kill someone at Edo time. This report makes the Silver Detective very depressed, as according to them, he had signs that prove he is not entirely innocent.

Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys decide to investigate Tadao’s acquaintances:

* Shinsuke recalls that Tadao insisted on not selling the home because he wanted to keep his memories of his deceased wife, and wanted the son who ran away to have a place to return to. Sugamo targeted the house since he heard that Tadao was planning to move to the countryside and live quietly, but gave up the intention after what happened to him.
* Shigeko Noda, a neighbor, recounts the events that had happened to Tadao’s family: Four years ago, his son Tatsuya messed things up at work. He resigned from the job and had been very depressed about his self-worth since. Then one day, he disappeared and left no communication to his family while Tadao reassured his wife that their son would be back stronger. However, Tadao’s wife passed away when she was talking with Noda about her son’s whereabouts being unclear for the past year.

After discussing Tatsuya's disappearance with Shigeko, Conan finally realizes what had happened. The Detective Boys gather with the Silver Detectives who are considering disbanding due to their lack of detective abilities when the Detective Boys ask for the Silver Detectives' help with getting a confession out of Tadao.

Confronting Tadao, Conan explains that is is strange that after four years, an earnest son like Tatsuya would have absolutely no contact with his parents. Believing that '''Tadao Yuge''' murdered Tatsuya four years ago, Conan continues by explaining that Tadao could not let his wife know about the fate of their son so Tadao decided to bury his body in the yard. Tadao's horrified reaction to Yasuko notifying him about the discovered skeleton in the yard was likely due to Tadao mistaking the discovered skeleton to be that of his son.

Tadao refutes by explaining that a decomposing body would have an odor that Kazue and the neighbors would have noticed. However, the stench was masked by a house that was full of rubbish that got demolished after the decomposing smell subsided.

Without any concrete evidence, the Silver Detectives attempt to get Tadao to confess to his crimes through compassion as Tadao truly loved his son:
# Tatsuya was buried in the yard instead of further away like in the mountains
# Tadao secretly prayed for Tatsuya everyday for four years

Finally, Yasuke appeals to Tadao to give Tatsuya a proper burial that he deserves. Everyone pressures Tadao to come clean before Tadao explains that Tatsuya attempted suicide four years ago.

[[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]], [[Ran Mouri|Ran]], and [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] are in the Limited Express “Super Hakuto” that leads them to Tottori Prefecture, as they will be taking a bus to arrive at the Misasa Onsen. On the way to the Yumemiya Ryokan, their resting place for the tour, they see Yasuto Utsubuki and Sachiyo Yumemiya talking about Yasuto’s father and Sachiyo’s aunt not allowing the two to be married. Seconds later, Kazuko Yumemiya and Hisao Utsubuki show up and do what the couple just told about earlier.

In the Yumemiya Ryokan, the Mouris are welcomed by Teruki, Kazuko’s son, and a waitress named Yoshimi Komori. As Komori introduces to Ran and Conan about Yumezakura, a kimono that the waitresses walking behind Komori is going to wear for her wedding, the two instantly realize the woman behind as the one they met earlier. Kogoro also meets two Kurayoshi officers that the family has met in [[Tottori Sand Dunes Mystery Tour|a past case]], [[Katsuhiko Yamane]] and [[Ryo Okamoto]]. The two show their gratitude toward Kogoro for helping, and express their joyfulness of capturing the serial bag-snatcher one week ago, which is why they are here.

In the dinner, Kogoro is drinking with Okamoto and Yamane as he tells the two detectives how he solved cases as Sleeping Kogoro, while Conan and Ran enjoy the dinner at another table when Conan receives the drink he orders from Sachiyo. The two ask her about the problem Sachiyo has, she explains that Kazuko once got into a property dispute with Hisao Utsubuki. Suddenly, Komori accidentally spills some kind of sauce on Conan's costume, so she has to take Conan to change the costume. From there, Conan realizes that some people have issues with Kazuko with their own matters:
*According to Kazuko Yumemiya, Yoshimi Komori’s carelessness is damaging the reputation of the inn.
*Kazuko also denies a loan for Masamichi Kasuga, even though his company is facing financial difficulties.
*Kazuko roasts his son for being in debt because of a girl from Osaka whom he spent money on.
*Kazuko tells Sachiyo that she never wants to keep the ryokan on her own, and she wants Sachiyo to marry a dependable man instead of Yasuto.

Before the dawn of the next day, Teruki wakes Kogoro up, as Sachiyo has disappeared for some reason. As the two Kurayoshi officers are awaked from the sound, the two would request back up from the Misasa police box. Next morning, Kasuga tries to ask Yasuto if his niece was there or not, which Yasuto answers no, while he mumbles that Sachiyo actually did something. There are some possible suspects beside people in the inn, and Yasuto:
*The first person is Toshihiro Kitami, a photographer brought by Okamoto, Yamane, and a Misasa officer. The reason he became the suspect is that Sachiyo appears in some pictures he had taken yesterday when he was taking pictures of frogs in the Misasa.
*A second possibility is Sachiyo’s close friends who are members of Tottori Arts and Culture Association.
So Ran and Conan go to the Yonago City Center to ask the tour guide, while Okamoto and Yamane go to Mount Daisen to ask the mountain guide, and Kogoro goes to find the sand sculptor (he is also seen in the Tottori Sand Dunes, where he used to tie up Conan and throw him down because of a sudden burst of inspiration).

The investigation by the five people seems to yield no results, so they decide to interrogate Yasuto once again to see if he knew anything about the disappearance. This time, he admits that Sachiyo has temporarily taken refuge in the warehouse of the Misasa Violin Museum in the hope that her parents would understand the genuine feelings between her and Yasuto. However, Sachiyo is nowhere to be found there; instead, she has become the victim of an actual kidnapping for ransom. Kasuga recalls that a waitress noticed a black car parked near the mountains yesterday evening, meaning there could be a high chance that the people in the car were the kidnappers.

Yasuto points out that Sachiyo has never blamed anyone else for the unfortunate events that happened to her. Conan happens to pass by three waitresses, including Komori, discussing that no one has ever seen a car like what Kasuga told. The two things raise doubt if Sachiyo was really kidnapped or not, so Conan goes to some location for information, with Ran and Yasuto tagging along:
*On the road Sachiyo went after escaping the warehouse, there are two separate paths, one of them leads to Misasa Onsen.
*Conan sees the photographer again in the Kajika bridge when the three arrive at the hot spring through his telescopic lens. The three reach out to Kitami, and know that Sachiyo was trying to cross the river.
*The side she went to leads to Yumemiya’s parking lot, which has one black car with sand on it.
Meanwhile, the inn receives a third message from the kidnapper. It seems like Kazuko is cornered when she agrees to pay the ransom to rescue Sachiyo, since she had promised her sister that she would take good care of Sachiyo. Suddenly, Conan notices something from the word "wave".

[[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]], [[Ran Mouri|Ran]], and [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] are in the Limited Express “Super Hakuto” that leads them to Tottori Prefecture, as they will be taking a bus to arrive at the Misasa Onsen. On the way to the Yumemiya Ryokan, their resting place for the tour, they see Yasuto Utsubuki and Sachiyo Yumemiya talking about Yasuto’s father and Sachiyo’s aunt not allowing the two to be married. Seconds later, Kazuko Yumemiya and Hisao Utsubuki show up and do what the couple just told about earlier.

In the Yumemiya Ryokan, the Mouris are welcomed by Teruki, Kazuko’s son, and a waitress named Yoshimi Komori. As Komori introduces to Ran and Conan about Yumezakura, a kimono that the waitresses walking behind Komori is going to wear for her wedding, the two instantly realize the woman behind as the one they met earlier. Kogoro also meets two Kurayoshi officers that the family has met in [[Tottori Sand Dunes Mystery Tour|a past case]], Katsuhiko Yamane and Ryo Okamoto. The two show their gratitude toward Kogoro for helping, and express their joyfulness of capturing the serial bag-snatcher one week ago, which is why they are here.

In the dinner, Kogoro is drinking with Okamoto and Yamane as he tells the two detectives how he solved cases as Sleeping Kogoro, while Conan and Ran enjoy the dinner at another table when Conan receives the drink he orders from Sachiyo. The two ask her about the problem Sachiyo has, she explains that Kazuko once got into a property dispute with Hisao Utsubuki. Suddenly, Komori accidentally spills some kind of sauce on Conan's costume, so she has to take Conan to change the costume. From there, Conan realizes that some people have issues with Kazuko with their own matters:
*According to Kazuko Yumemiya, Yoshimi Komori’s carelessness is damaging the reputation of the inn.
*Kazuko also denies a loan for Masamichi Kasuga, even though his company is facing financial difficulties.
*Kazuko roasts his son for being in debt because of a girl from Osaka whom he spent money on.
*Kazuko tells Sachiyo that she never wants to keep the ryokan on her own, and she wants Sachiyo to marry a dependable man instead of Yasuto.

Before the dawn of the next day, Teruki wakes Kogoro up, as Sachiyo has disappeared for some reason. As the two Kurayoshi officers are awaked from the sound, the two would request back up from the Misasa police box. Next morning, Kasuga tries to ask Yasuto if his niece was there or not, which Yasuto answers no, while he mumbles that Sachiyo actually did something. There are some possible suspects beside people in the inn, and Yasuto:
*The first person is Toshihiro Kitami, a photographer brought by Okamoto, Yamane, and a Misasa officer. The reason he became the suspect is that Sachiyo appears in some pictures he had taken yesterday when he was taking pictures of frogs in the Misasa.
*A second possibility is Sachiyo’s close friends who are members of Tottori Arts and Culture Association.
So Ran and Conan go to the Yonago City Center to ask the tour guide, while Okamoto and Yamane go to Mount Daisen to ask the mountain guide, and Kogoro goes to find the sand sculptor (he is also seen in the Tottori Sand Dunes, where he used to tie up Conan and throw him down because of a sudden burst of inspiration).

The investigation by the five people seems to yield no results, so they decide to interrogate Yasuto once again to see if he knew anything about the disappearance. This time, he admits that Sachiyo has temporarily taken refuge in the warehouse of the Misasa Violin Museum in the hope that her parents would understand the genuine feelings between her and Yasuto. However, Sachiyo is nowhere to be found there; instead, she has become the victim of an actual kidnapping for ransom. Kasuga recalls that a waitress noticed a black car parked near the mountains yesterday evening, meaning there could be a high chance that the people in the car were the kidnappers.

==== Misasa Arc ====
Yasuto points out that Sachiyo has never blamed anyone else for the unfortunate events that happened to her. Conan happens to pass by three waitresses, including Komori, discussing that no one has ever seen a car like what Kasuga told. The two things raise doubt if Sachiyo was really kidnapped or not, so Conan goes to some location for information, with Ran and Yasuto tagging along:
*On the road Sachiyo went after escaping the warehouse, there are two separate paths, one of them leads to Misasa Onsen.
*Conan sees the photographer again in the Kajika bridge when the three arrive at the hot spring through his telescopic lens. The three reach out to Kitami, and know that Sachiyo was trying to cross the river.
*The side she went to leads to Yumemiya’s parking lot, which has one black car with sand on it.
Meanwhile, the inn receives a third message from the kidnapper. It seems like Kazuko is cornered when she agrees to pay the ransom to rescue Sachiyo, since she had promised her sister that she would take good care of Sachiyo. Suddenly, Conan notices something from the word "wave".

At sunset on Hakuto Beach, a suspicious person is seen calling someone, revealing to the audience that the money has not been deposited, causing the ransom kidnapping to fail. With no other options left, the person tells the accomplice to run, while they kill Sachiyo to cover up the evidence. However, everyone in the inn has reached the location in time, and reveals the identity of the suspicious person, '''Masamichi Kasuga'''.

At first, Kogoro is unable to find evidence to prove that Kasuga committed the crime, but it creates an opportunity for an absolute top-notch rescue led by Yasuto and followed by the two Kurayoshi officers. Sachiyo tells something with his uncle, only by then does Kogoro figure out the main points:

*Kogoro deduces that Sachiyo read the letter and followed its instruction, not knowing that Kasuga changed his plan and went out with a black car to kidnap Sachiyo for ransom.

At the previous day's prom at the Daigo residence, Yu Daigo was struck by love at first sight with a mysterious girl. However, she had to leave early for some reason and only left one of her shoes behind. This is the reason why [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]] and [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] are at the mansion. Yu recalls that after he finished discussing work with his secretary over the phone, she ran away from the prom. Coincidentally, Daigo's call with his secretary contained terms that Reira may have misinterpreted as Daigo having a call with legal officials, leading him to believe that she was in some kind of legal trouble.

The doubts become reality when Yu finds out that his pocket watch inherited from his father has disappeared, most likely taken by that girl. At the police station, [[Miwako Sato|Sato]] and [[Wataru Takagi|Takagi]] are giving photos from criminals that had previously been caught for similar offenses for Yu to confirm who the mysterious girl is. He confirms the appearance of the girl is similar to Reira Made, and gets into the car with the other four to Reira’s house.

When the five arrive at the house, they discover that Reira has been beaten and tied up with some tapes. She is then taken to the hospital with the supervision of Yu and Sato, as the rest decide to investigate the scene with [[Kazunobu Chiba|Chiba]] and some other officers.

It seems as if the investigation would gradually reach a dead end when the four detectives could not find useful information from the neighbors. Then, Kogoro's naive thoughts reminds Conan of something that makes him enter the room where Reira had been found with bruises and tied up.

The thief is able to escape thanks to the road that is still under construction, which Conan and Kamen Yaiba have close to no knowledge of.

[[Wataru Takagi|Takagi]] and [[Miwako Sato|Sato]], after seeing the pursuit being followed by the four kids and the man that almost got his purse stolen, whose identity is revealed to be a salesman Hideo Saida, interrogate the five as their usual drill.

Later, Conan and Fujimiya come to give information after the failed pursuit. Fujimiya is a night shift security guard that stops by the park to do his training after his shift is over. In addition, he confirms to Conan that he has been training from every 7 AM to 9 AM for four consecutive days.

Conan then asks Takagi about details of the fourth purse-snatcher. Takagi recounted: Around 10 AM five days ago, just as the old lady was carrying a bag containing three million yen that she earned from selling artwork to the bank, two thieves on a motorcycle snatched the money from her, causing her to fall to the ground. The police pursued the thieves, but lost their trail in a park that happens to be near a construction site, and the vehicle was left in a bush in that park.

At the previous day's prom at the Daigo residence, Yu Daigo was struck by love at first sight with a mysterious girl. However, she had to leave early for some reason and only left one of her shoes behind. This is the reason why [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]] and [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] are at the mansion. Yu recalls that after he finished discussing work with his secretary over the phone, she ran away from the prom. Coincidentally, Daigo's call with his secretary contained terms that Reira may have misinterpreted as Daigo having a call with legal officials, leading him to believe that she was in some kind of legal trouble.

The doubts become reality when Yu finds out that his pocket watch inherited from his father has disappeared, most likely taken by that girl. At the police station, [[Miwako Sato|Sato]] and [[Wataru Takagi|Takagi]] are giving photos from criminals that had previously been caught for similar offenses for Yu to confirm who the mysterious girl is. He confirms the appearance of the girl is similar to Reira Made, and gets into the car with the other four to Reira’s house.

It seems as if the investigation would gradually reach a dead end when the four detectives could not find useful information from the neighbors. Then, Kogoro's naive thoughts reminds Conan of something that makes him enter the room where Reira had been found with bruises and tied up.

Yoshiaki Kamata lives with his father Hajime; his younger brother Mitsumasa; and his wife Sachiko. Even though all of the three have their own dispute with Yoshiaki, they were genuinely worried when he had not come down for his breakfast, so they went to his room and broke the door because it was locked inside. However, they only found him dead with a knife on him, and the room was quite messy.

The Mouris were invited to the scene because every member of the family admitted to having killed the victim on their own. To make things worse, another woman named Keiko Mitamura comes to the scene to admit that she was the murderer.

Since none of them was able to tell the police how they committed the murder, it is clear that everyone was lying to protect someone, despite having their own motive to kill Yoshiaki:

*Yoshiaki said that everything that his father had was not genuine all along, but he still lives thanks to his father’s not genuine assets.

*From Sachiko’s perspective, she was blamed by her husband for her infidelity while he was the first one to cheat on her. Moreover, Yoshiaki’s abusive behaviour almost got her to end her life, as she would have jumped off a building without Hajime’s words.

*Mitsumasa reveals that he is in a relationship with Sachiyo, which practically means they are cheating.

*Keiko Mitamura is Yoshiaki's ex-girlfriend, but probably broke up when the two learnt that they were half-siblings. In addition, she is still delusional that Mitsumasa is her boyfriend.

Conan then decides to investigate the scene on his own, and when he is thinking outside, Ran shows up and they have a conversation about this weird case whereas everyone is lying to protect someone. He then asks Ran if lying to protect someone is okay, she replies: If she has to lie, she prefers the type of lie that is both gentle and does not hurt anybody.

Yoshiaki Kamata had heart surgery 2 years ago and is taking medicine till this day. His death was just an ironic '''accident'''. Yoshiaki had a heart attack this morning, forcing him to rummage through the things on his desk to find medicine. His rummaging caused the knife on the desk to fall, but it ended up pointing upwards. He fell when the pain was unbearable, just so happened to fall onto the upward-pointed knife, ending his life not long after.
