Kogoro is invited to a party for the release of a game which stores himself. While there, Conan runs into a man who uses the alias Tequila and learns that he plans to meet with Gin and Vodka. Conan follows Tequila to the bathroom where an explosion occurs and kills the man. Conan investigates the explosion and realizes that it was a murder attempt but the wrong person was killed.
<spoiler>
Conan knocks Kogoro out and uses his voice changing bow tie to reveal what had happened. Conan reveals that Tequila and Hideaki Nakajima, one of the game designers, secretly exchanged suitcases. Conan reveals that the bomber is game designer Hironobu Takeshita and that Nakajima was his intended target. As evidence, Conan reveals that Nakajima's suitcase's key would fit into the suitcase Takeshita is holding since that is originally Nakajima's suitcase. Takeshita confesses and denounces Nakajima for having an affair with his wife. Conan asks Nakajima what he knows about Tequila's acquaintances only to learn that he always meets them in the cafe in the Apollo building. Conan heads there only to find out Gin and Vodka had cause an explosion to hide evidence of them being there.
</spoiler>

Continuity error
By the time that this story was told in the manga, Conan had a second encounter with Gin and Vodka (learning their names in the process), as well as learning about the organization. In the anime, however, The Shinkansen's Bomb Case and The Strange Person Hunt Murder Case omitted ties to The Organization and it's members. Thus Conan at this point in the anime shouldn't know the names of the men who shrank him, or their organization.
Dub error
Conan upon hearing Kogoro mentioning having some Gin and Vodka, recalls that Heiji Hattori telling him that the two men in black who he met went by the name of Gin and Vodka. In the Japanese Version, he merely recalls that those were the two men responsible for his condition.

This particular error originated in the Dub for Diplomat Murder Case. Presumably, this was done as a means of explaining how Conan knows the codename of the two men due to their omission in several episodes, but Heiji wouldn't discover Conan's secret until Holmes Freak Murder Case.
Resolution
<spoiler>
Young Shunen is the killer... as well as the younger brother of the deceased monk Chunen. Some time ago Chunen was in love with Tenei's granddaughter Kikuno, who not only was the heiress to the temple but had just accepted to marry another Buddhist monk from a very important monastery. Tenei was so upset at such an affair, that when he learned that Chunen and Kikuno were about to elope, he killed Chunen using exactly the same trick that Shunen later used on him (which is described below), managing to strangle the guy and then set the scene in such a way that it looked like a perfect killing by the Mist Goblin.

Shunen was always suspicious of Tenei and the other monks, so he hid his identity and entered the monastery to gain their trust and learn what had happened to his brother. He spent six months quietly snooping around, managing to more or less figure out how the murder was commited, but not the identity of the killer.

Shunen confronted Tenei right after the Mouris and Conan had gone to bed, having noticed how he had openly spoken about the Chunen incident when prior to that no one had ever menttioned it; under the effects of alcohol, Tenei told Shunen everything. The young novice begged his superior to turn himself in, but Tenei refused and said he'd rather let everyone think the Mist Goblin took Chunen's life, since such a "mystery" had let him raise the fame of the monstery. Shunen then lost it and used his newfound knowledge to kill Tenei in the same way Chunen died: he grabbed a rope, wrapped it around Tenei's neck, and pulled it as if he was carrying a heavy bag on his back (the "bag being, of course, Tenei).

After recovering his senses and seeing that he had murdered Tenei, Shunnen decided to use the same tricks Tenei used on Chunen to throw suspicions off him: placing the body in a lifeboat, using the nearby cascade water to slowly fill up the room, hanging Tenei's body from the ceiling, and then breaking the wooden wall.
Resolution
<spoiler>
The killer was... none of the Hottas. It was Yamauchi, whose son was a deceased piano player. When he and Fumiko got in a relationship and Hotta Sr. objected, they tried to convince him otherwise, but in reply Hotta broke the younger Yamauchi's hand which left him unable to play anymore. The younger Yamauchi fell into despair and killed himself by driving into a nearby cliff. His father then became the family butler only to get revenge, preparing the bomb that killed Hotta Sr..

Yamauchi had also planned to kill Fumiko by tampering with her car, mistakenly thinking that she had rejected his son after the incident. In reality, Fumiko was very traumatised as well: she showed it by dressing in black like a widow and wearing a pendant with a photo of her lost love. Fortunately, Yamauchi's trap failed and she returned to the mansion, making Yamauchi break down in tears for misjudging her.

The series was created and is drawn by Gosho Aoyama. The protagonists from his earlier series Magic Kaito look very similar: Kaitou Kid has made a number of appearances as himself in the anime and manga of the series. The main protagonist of the Detective Conan series, Shinichi Kudo, and the protagonist of the Magic Kaito series, Kaito Kuroba are also similar. Hundreds of minor characters have been created and are always given backgrounds, motives, and personalities that put them under suspicion during the investigation.

The English adaption dubbed by Funimation, called Case Closed, has different names than the one in the manga published by Viz Media.

Protagonists
The series revolves around Shinichi Kudo and his "child version", Conan Edogawa as well as his best friend Ran and her father Kogoro.
Part 1
Mouri, Ran, and Conan came as the substitutes for Sonoko and her father, the Suzuki president, and decided to attend a tea meeting at the Aonogi house. At the backyard of the mansion, there was a pond that shined in five colors. And there was a bridge which led to the tea room. While they were enjoying the pond’s colors something unusual happened… The headmaster died in the tea room, the same way as the legend.
Part 2
Conan searches for clues to who murdered the Headmaster busily and finally figures out the trick that was used: the killer swam underneath the bridge and stabbed the victim and tied him in a complicated fisherman's knot so that when the waterwheel turned, the body would be lifted up to the ceiling onto the beam which would make it look like a suicide. The suspect's reason for killing the Headmaster is to stop him from officially announcing his son, Roichi, as the next Headmaster, as he claims the Headmaster had betrayed him since they were selling counterfeit expensive ceramics together for the past ten years.
Situation
The Detective boys excluding Ai, are traveling through a winding path on Mt Ryushin. There they witness a car fall off the mountain. The driver has died and through the evidence, Conan concludes another car rammed into that car. Conan decides to leave it to the police as they are trained for basic cases. Mitsuhiko finds a code from the car wreckage which he assumes has nothing to do with the incident because he presumed it was a normal accident. He hides it from Conan since he wants to solve it himself. Later at the cabin, he solves the code and takes Ayumi and Genta with him. There where he thinks is treasure, is the culprit who caused the accident's hide-out. Conan and the Professor return to the cabin to find the kids missing. Conan solves the code quickly and arrives with the cops just in time to save the kids from the culprit. Mitsuhiko, while chopping wood with Ayumi and Genta as punishment, complains about how Conan solved the code so easily, while he only figured it out because it was in the book he was reading.
