Conan, Kogoro, and Ran pass by a woman named Kyouko Takahata who passes out upon receiving a phone call that her brother-in-law, Itsurou Soejima was found dead in her home. They head to her house along with the police to discover that the drunk Soejima died when he fired a shotgun toward the ceiling, which caused a chandelier to fall on top of him.

The police conclude it's suicide, however Conan believes it was a carefully planned murder. Conan investigates and discovers that in half a year, there were nine incidents where Soejima almost died due to his alcoholism and that Kyouko was involved in all nine incidents. After gathering the evidence, Conan gathers Kogoro, the police and Kyouko and tranquilizes Kogoro to reveal his deductions.

Conan reveals that Takahata called Soejima to her home and had prepared the alcohol and shotgun to tempt Soejima, who is a recovering alcoholic. As evidence, Conan reveals that a piece of her nail was found in Soejima's house and that she was searching for his cellphone which evidenced that she called him to her place.

Kyouko confesses and reveals that she killed Soejima because she was sure that he caused the death of hee beloved sister. Conan reveals that a message from her sister's phone reveals she died of an illness and that she loved Soejima very much, and Kyouko has a breakdown over said revelation.

Mouri, Ran, and Conan are attending a dolphin show when a murder occurs in the hotel. The hotel room where the murder occurred was specially designed to be retro one. The clue to the murder is an automatic television that when inserted with a coin, will play for an hour. Conan reveals how the culprit used that to fake their allibi.

After tranquilizing Kogorou, first, the pepper spray found in Fujimaru's pocket had not been used. This means she knew her attacker. Second, the room key was on the table if it was a burglar, why not lock the door on the way out? This would delay discovery of the victim and reveals the time of death was around 12:20PM, not 1:00PM. Nobody needs to be here to insert a coin, they could just use all the candies. Using the ice cream bar and candy with a string, first, drape the string candy over the candy slot. Next, place the ice cream bar between the TV controls and a furniture as a bridge. Finally, put the other end of the string under the ice cream bar and put a coin in the coin slot. After setting up the trick, the culprit left the room. Overtime, the ice cream bar melts and falls away, allowing the thread to slip to the floor and the coin to slip in to turn on the TV. Indeed, remember the channel knob and table were damp, it was from the ice cream bar. Besides, the ice cream bar was a fairly new flavor, it wouldn't be included with the room's selection. The culprit did not lock the room just so this trick would work. if the culprit had opened the door, would not have been able to open the door and watch the TV turn off automatically and also the culprit hung out the sign because the room had to be unlocked but nobody was supposed to get in early, or the plan will fail. The culprit used the victim's cellphone. And declares Kuniko Yamamoto to be the culprit. After committing the murder, she took Fujimaru's cellphone and went to the station to meet Obayashi and Kaneda. Then, using the cellphone in her pocket, she called her own phone and pretended to talk with Fujimaru. The only thing she to do was return the phone during the commotion after the body was discovered, and reveal that Yamamoto has a plastic bag in her pocket. She put Fujimaru's cellphone in the bag and took it away. And in the plastic bag several fingerprints and there is a weird vertical pattern was discovered, and tells that Yamamoto that on her cellphone there are numbers 02058252805. to call her number, only the center buttons are necessary hence the vertical pattern as you dialed through the plastic bag.

Kuniko confesses and reveals after graduation they both sought the recommendation for a job in America it was with a well-known company, and Naomi, who was already good, became a successful designer with them. But she was supposed to have been chosen, but Naomi used her feminine charms on the professor, she didn't know a thing about it until the professor let it slip one time when they were having drinks. She was exaggerated a little but the truth is she was fired from her job just because she had a little too much to drink once. She felt humiliated to Naomi because she took away her happiness.

Conan's discovers a shattered brick with a hole and discerning how Nakamura was murdered, tranquilizes Kogoro and reveals the farmer Marie Inoue to be the murderer. Conan reveals that she hung a brick on the handrail and concealed it with a towel and lured Nakamura to it with a phone call. When he was close enough, she pulled a rope connected to the brick hitting him on the forehead causing him to lose his balance and having him fall into the corner of the water tank. As evidence, Conan explains the towel's paint mark is from the handrail and that the rope must be in Inoue's home. Inoue confesses and reveals that Nakamura killed her crop which were grown from her father's final harvest. </spoiler>

They learn that there is a rumor about a curse by the goddess' anger and Kogoro was invited to disprove it. After riding through the ropeway on the opening day, Domoto, who has disappeared from the ropeway cart, is later found dead on the goddess' hand.

Conan reveals that Ayaka Yoshino was the murderer, who used Domoto's trick against the news reporters against him. After completing his disappearing trick, he would've disproved of the curse by ruining the newspaper's reputation, but was stabbed. Ayaka reveals that Domoto divorced her mother and left her in debt. Her brother died because he forced his workers to complete the ropeway in a short amount of time.

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are invited by the hostess of a car accident charity named Beniko Suo. While driving, they find a message from the Phantom of the Cursed Masks who tells them they should not go. Once there, they find other famous celebrities; a baseball player, a prophet, a rockstar, and a man who lost his wife in a "Hit and Run" incident. The mansion they will be staying at is a huge mansion divided by the east and west side; and the only room connecting the two sides is the mask room, which is locked at midnight due to Shobel's mask. They were created by a famous man who lost everything and became engrossed in his masks; once he created 200 of them, he was found dead in his room surrounded with bloody masks. People who have owned his mask have suffered tragic fates. Suo who now owns all 200 masks has a priest place a seal on the curse, but the room will locked at midnight to prevent them from wandering. During their stay, Suo was murdered in a locked room with masks surrounding her and a dagger in her throat.

Conan later figures out the trick and reveals the culprit, Toya Aikawa. Aikawa reveals that his mother was blamed for a hit and run incident and murdered by Suo, who then took fame and profit from her charity. In actuality, the trick to the locked room murder was stringing the 200 Shobel masks into a weapon that extended 3 meters long with a knife at the very top. This was substantiated by the uneven distribution of blood on one mask, and the subsequent splatters of blood on the only the mouth holes.
