== Case ==

=== Situation ===
The waitress of Poirot Cafe, Azusa Enomoto, reported she received strange messages from a boy, suggesting he might be kidnapped or trapped in a location without food and water. The only way to find him is by reading his text messages. The boy only knows how to send, but does not know how to receive. Conan must combine the clues he's given to find out his location.

=== People ===

=== Resolution ===
<spoiler>
====The Meaning of the Texts====
* The boy's first text mentioned a lot of people wearing hats and fish being caught in a net, implying that he is near a fishing spot.
* Since the boy's following texts mentioned a restaurant sign, people wearing hats, and people peering down at him, he must be in a position which requires him to
look up. Also, because no one has yet to show concern for a boy left alone without his father for a long period of time, he must be inside a car.
* The fifth text about there actually being three fish in the sky, not just one refers to Koinobori (carp streamers). Since one streamer became three, that implies that wind has picked up, and thus Mitsuru's location is Komaezaki.
* The fourth text referring to fish being in a net is because a large net surrounding a practice golf course had overlapped with the carp streamers, thus seeming like a giant net in the sky with fish in it.

====Conclusion====
Conan and the others find Mitsuru passed out in the car. He comes to just before Ran kicks the door open, and agrees after persuasion to come out of the car. Kogoro overhears two men speaking about a fight that occurred earlier, with one ending up with an injury to the head. Shortly afterward, Mitsuru's father comes running. As it turns out, he had attempted to break up a fight, got knocked out and ended up in the hospital. Mitsuru's mother also arrives--as it turns out, she was hospitalized and had just been discharged. Mitsuru's father had come to Komaezaki together with Mitsuru to pick her up. Mitsuru was left without any knowledge of the true reason in order to keep it as a surprise and to prevent him from worrying about his mother.

At the end, Ran hints to Kogoro about how she wishes that she too wants to become (a family) of three again.
In his anger, Tonoyama attacked Eri but she used judo to pin him down, which allows the police to catch him.
After that, Conan uses his child-like looks to try force Wakaoji reveal that he wanted to have sex with the girl he was waiting for, thinking said girl was Ran. To his surprise, it wasn't Ran... but it ''was'' someone they knew: Sonoko, who angrily calls him out. Conan is confused, and then Ran and Eri meet up. Eri lectures Ran on her too short miniskirt and she calls her "mom", sending Conan into a shock.
<spoiler>
====Evidence====
* The cut on Ohara's finger, as a result of the piano chord. Blood from the cut was found on the windowsill.
* A piano chord used to attach the stop to the back of a bus.
* When Genta knocked on the bathroom, there was no reply, indicating Ohara wasn't in the bathroom.
* A wooden stop was found, which served to stop the truck.
* A glove was found inside Ohara's car with blood on the same spot as the cut on Ohara's hand.

====Motive====
* Ohara killed Aida because Aida had supposedly forgotten the favors he owed Ohara and threatened to quit the company. This would have resulted in the company's bankruptcy, so Ohara decided to kill Aida in order to collect insurance money. Furthermore, Aida spoke of collecting large sums of money before quitting.

====Conclusion====
Ohara admits to killing Aida and apologizes for his crime.
Later, the truck driver presents Agasa with a bouquet of flowers, grateful that he was proven innocent.
Kogoro takes Ran, Kazuha, Conan, and Heiji to the Inubushi household where they are introduced to the family. They learn about the legend passed down in the Inubushi family where their ancestor set his dog on fire after mistakenly assuming the dog killed his daughter while in reality, the dog saved his daughter. The ancestor was then killed in a house fire and the myth of the Inubushi curse was passed down. Conan and Heiji decide to investigate the headstone of the supposed dog when they witness Saki Inubushi fall from a cliff. Saki claims an ablaze inugami chased her and dies shortly after.

=== Footsteps Chapter ===
After hearing Ran and Kazuha's story, they realize the culprit is housing the inugami nearby and investigate an abandoned cabin. Inside the cabin yeilds evidence of a dog living there. Nearby, Tomoaki Inubashi is pounced by the inugami and receives minor burns; nearby an onion is found.
Later that night, they discover a letter signed by Miyuki confessing to the crime and is at the abandoned cabin. Conan and co head there and discover the cabin covered in gasoline and the inugami running towards it. Conan catches the inugami revealing the fire effect was created by imitation fire clothing with remote controlled lights. The flaming dog-prints were caused by modified lighters placed on the ground and tied to a wire with a hoop at the end. The dog had a mesh-enclosed charcoal tied to its tail, and when passing over the lighters, ignited them. When the dog retrieved the hoop, the lighter came with it, explaining how the lighters were not found after creating the dog-prints. Heiji points out Tomoaki as the culprit, evidenced by the inugami recognizing him as his master, and Satomi's prayer beads. The beads indicated the fourth of the eight virtues which is found in Tomoaki's name. As Tomoaki is taken into custody, he reveals he wanted to increase his inheritance in order to maintain the Inubushi household for Satomi.
Five years ago the womanizing chairman of the Inubushi group, Hisashi Inubushi, had died of terminal cancer. Due to his past habits, several people appeared, claiming to be related to Hisashi by presenting a picture of their mother with the president. Without the president or their mothers to confirm whether the claims were true or not, it became impossible to confirm or deny the claims. And now, with the president's wife ill herself, the inheritance was to be divided amongst the 8 children.

Regardless, the president's wife took in all 8 people as her own adopted children. And now, with the president's wife ill herself, the inheritance was to be divided amongst the 8 children.

However, two of the 8 had died in strange ways. One had died falling from the cliff, claiming that a fiery monster had assaulted him prior to the fall. Another had been assaulted by a dog on fire.

Heiji and Conan go to meet a man named Shinichi Kudo, but end up unable to meet with him because he was asleep. Thirty minutes later, they return to his room upon hearing a musical timer supposedly meant to wake him up, only to find his door sealed and Shinichi dead.
<spoiler>

====Evidence====
* Hanzaki kept checking the clock rather than eat at the all-you-could-eat as he energetically claimed he would.
* Hanzaki bought a block of ice and a slab of concrete, which was used to create a mechanism which would eventually drop the concrete upon the manager Sugiyama's head. This was found in his apartment bathroom, along with Sugiyama.
* Hanzaki purposely asked Takagi for the time, even though there was a clock right in front of him in the park.

====Motive====
* Hanzaki was blaming the manager for his lack of success.

====Conclusion====
Hanzaki was in fact attempting to kill his manager, and was planning on using Takagi to help build his alibi.
The murder was to take place in Hanzaki's apartment's bathroom.

==== Ending ====
The Detective Boys and Takagi arrive just in time to save Sugiyama. As it turns out, Sugiyama was the one in possession on Takagi's notebook, whereas Hanzaki just observed Sugiyama doing so. Hanzaki is promptly arrested after being confronted by his manager and Takagi.

Unfortunately, Takagi gets in trouble anyway because he claimed he was sick and took a day off to find his notebook.
