In Frankfurt, an [[Wikipedia: Europol|Europol]] agent is being chased by [[Hidemi Hondou|Kir]] and [[Gin]]. Gin eventually murdered the agent. Some time later, [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]], [[Ran Mouri|Ran]], the [[Detective Boys]], [[Hiroshi Agasa|Agasa]], and [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]] are invited to the resort at Hachijo-jima, owned by [[Sonoko Suzuki|Sonoko]]'s family. Conan later received information from [[Subaru Okiya|Subaru]] that an Europol agent is being murdered and a [[Black Organization]] agent known as [[Pinga]] is making the move.

Having discovered [[Ninzaburo Shiratori|Shiratori]] and [[Hyoue Kuroda|Kuroda]], Conan sneaked after the two to an [[Wikipedia: Interpol|Interpol]] underwater facility known as Pacific Buoy. The facility hosts the new system that allows connection to all surveillance camera in Japan, Europe, and eventually worldwide. Headed by Yosuke Makino, four other engineers (Ed from India, Grace from France, Leonhardt from Germany, and Naomi Argento from United States) also worked in the facility. Also available is the "All-Age Recognition" system, which uses facial recognition and [[Wikipedia: Artificial intelligence|AI]] reconstruction of facial structure to identify individuals whose age may have differed from the source material.

[[Rei Furuya|Bourbon]] and [[Vermouth]] infiltrated Pacific Buoy and arranged for the kidnapping of Naomi Argento, holding her captive in a submarine. [[Vodka]] and Kir then discovered from Naomi's flash drive necklace that the All-Age Recognition system is able to identify [[Ai Haibara|Haibara]] as [[Shiho Miyano]].

The same night, [[Chianti]], Vodka, and Pinga kidnapped Haibara from Sonoko's resort. Conan and Agasa tried to chase after them, but discovered that Vodka and Pinga plunged the vehicle with Haibara into the sea to board the submarine underwater. The incident was reported to Kuroda, and Conan asked to have the Buoy's surveillance capability to check the security camera on the route of the chase and the presence of the submarine, but they discovered that no submarine or vehicles were caught on the camera, seemingly indicates that the system has been tampered.

Leonhardt tried to confront the culprit, but was drugged and later shown to have suffered poisoning to death in the Buoy's Cafe. The confession letter apparently written by Leonhardt also mentioned that he is responsible for the backdoor in the Buoy's system.

Meanwhile, Vodka tried to force Naomi to rewrite the All-Age Recognition program, and when she refused to do so, he arranged for her father, a member of European Parliament that proposes the surveillance system, to be killed.

Later on, Vermouth informed Gin that after running the All-Age Recognition system once again, she discovered that the system is able to pick up the image of the person with similar faces, but not necessarily the same person, indicating that the system is flawed. Frustrated by this development and following order from [[Kanenori Wakita|Rum]], Gin decided to use the submarine to destroy the Buoy. However, when he tried to confront Haibara and Naomi, he discovered that the two have escaped from the submarine under the clues provided by Kir.

<spoiler>Conan went back to the Buoy and revealed via Kogoro that the person who murdered Leonhardt is '''Grace'''. Grace murdered Leonhardt as he has examined the access log and discovered that Grace is the only person accessing the camera footage. Grace is then revealed to be '''Pinga''', who used deepfake to fake Leonhardt suicide footage and tried to escape from the Buoy. With the submarine setting to attack the Buoy, Conan tries to light the position of the submarine from underwater and arranged for [[Shuichi Akai|Akai]] to shoot the rocket that severely damages the submarine, forcing the Black Organization to flee from the submarine. Pinga dies from the blast when the submarine explodes. Conan later loses consciousness underwater, only to be rescued by Haibara who went after him and took him to the surface.

In the post-credits scene, it is revealed that Naomi's father survives the attempted murder, and Pacific Buoy project will be moved to another country. Naomi realizes that Haibara is in fact Shiho Miyano, a friend who shielded her from being bullied when they studied in the United States. The flaw in the system is revealed to have been staged by Vermouth, who disguised herself as Sherry and appeared in security camera footages around the world to disprove the fact that Haibara is Shiho Miyano. Later, the elderly woman that Haibara met before is actually Vermouth on disguise with a ginkgo leaf brooch ([[List of cooperations and businesses#Fusae Brand|Fusae Campbell pin]]) before closing the elevator door, she thought that [[Conan Edogawa|Silver Bullet]] must figure it out himself on the reason [[Renya Karasuma|why she did all of this]].</spoiler>

== Background ==

Ayumi Yoshida is a student in [[Teitan Elementary School]] when [[Shinichi Kudo|Shinichi]] joins her class as [[Conan Edogawa]]. Ayumi befriends Conan and convinces him to join her, [[Genta Kojima|Genta]], and [[Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya|Mitsuhiko]] in investigating an apparently haunted mansion. As it turns out, the haunting is a cover-up for an old homicide case, and due to Conan, the mystery is solved and the culprits are arrested.

Soon after, the accidental acquisition of a treasure map leads Ayumi, Genta, Mistuhiko and Conan on a hunt for a cache of stolen Italian gold coins, during which Conan saves them from getting killed by the mafia members who are also after the gold. His actions earn Ayumi's gratitude, which quickly develops into a serious crush.<ref>Manga Chapter 39: Code Sheet Case: The Shining Fish's True Form</ref> Additionally, after the case is resolved, Ayumi joins Genta and Mitsuhiko in forming the nucleus of an amateur detective group, the [[Detective Boys]]. == Appearance ==
Ayumi has short hair, having some hair points sticking out on the side of her face and a hair band on the head usually pink. Furthermore, she has blue eyes and brown hair. She is considered very cute and often wears dresses.

== Personality ==
Ayumi is a primarily naive and innocent little girl who enjoys adventure. She demonstrates courage as time goes on and acts as the group's cheerful spirit. She has an open crush on Conan, even dreaming about marrying him, which makes him uncomfortable. At the same time, Ayumi thinks that he has feelings for Haibara because he tries to protect her and she often sees them talking amongst themselves in private. Ayumi plays hide and seek with the Detective Boys. She hides in the trunk of a parked car, not knowing that the owners would drive off with her. While in the dark, she hears the driver and passenger saying criminal things and, feeling around in the dark, finds a bundles of cash and a severed head. Conan, Genta, and Mistuhiko chase after the car using Conan's skateboard. When they catch up and free Ayumi, they discover the "criminals" were really actors practicing their lines for a play and the "severed head" and "money" were only props made out of newspaper. To make up for the damage they caused, the reluctant Ayumi has to play the role of the dead girl in the play.

The [[Detective Boys]] are stranded on a mountain when [[Hiroshi Agasa|Agasa]]'s car breaks down. Seeking shelter from the rain they come across a villa where piano music was heard and enter the house when their calls are unanswered. Inside, they explore and discover a diary on the table confessing to a plan of a kidnapping and of murdering a boy; a blackout then occurs due to the storm. They find a small coffin planned for the murder and realize its empty and the possibility the boy is still be alive. At that moment, piano music is heard again. [[Conan]] assures them it will be safe to search the house as the culprit is playing the piano. Ayumi wanders off on her own and finds a photo of a family and a room with water leaking out of it.

<spoiler>Conan notices the piano chair was set to a child's height and deduces where the boy is. He has the Detective Boys sing a song in the piano room and catches the boy watching them and befriend him. The boy, Keita Onoda, is a piano prodigy to which the kidnapper abducted to allow his daughter to win a piano competition. Conan also reveals the diary entry is out of order due to Keita's tampering and that the kidnapper felt increasingly guilty as the days went on. The [[Detective Boys]] are stranded on a mountain when [[Hiroshi Agasa|Agasa]]'s car breaks down. Seeking shelter from the rain they come across a villa where piano music was heard and enter the house when their calls are unanswered. Inside, they explore and discover a diary on the table confessing to a plan of a kidnapping and of murdering a boy; a blackout then occurs due to the storm. They find a small coffin planned for the murder and realize its empty and the possibility the boy is still be alive. At that moment, piano music is heard again. [[Conan]] assures them it will be safe to search the house as the culprit is playing the piano. Ayumi wanders off on her own and finds a photo of a family and a room with water leaking out of it.

<spoiler>Conan notices the piano chair was set to a child's height and deduces where the boy is. He has the Detective Boys sing a song in the piano room and catches the boy watching them and befriend him. The boy, Keita Onoda, is a piano prodigy to which the kidnapper abducted to allow his daughter to win a piano competition. Conan also reveals the diary entry is out of order due to Keita's tampering and that the kidnapper felt increasingly guilty as the days went on.
