While my username is Saguruapologist, I also go by Cloudy. I am based in the United States. I've been involved in the fandom since 2015. I have a preference for Magic Kaito over Detective Conan, but there are also many aspects of the Detective Conan plot that I'm deeply invested in. I like participating through writing fanfic, creating image edits/graphics, and writing meta and speculations on the plot and characters of Magic Kaito and Detective Conan.

==Fandom Background==

I first became aware of DCMK via my then-classmate and now-partner when the two of us were in high school, but I never got truly invested while they were involved in the fandom. Years later in 2015, while doing some research, my partner came across the Phantom Lady and Corbeau arc updates and was clearly becoming deeply invested, so I asked them to get me up to speed and bring me along for the ride. As an avid roleplayer with a penchant for attaching myself to underdeveloped characters so that I may extrapolate upon them myself, I was handed Hakuba Saguru and I've had brainworms about him ever since (and by extension, the entire Magic Kaito universe as well as the few appearance Saguru has had in canon).

From Magic Kaito, I plunged into Detective Conan. To be truthful, I've never watched all the episodes or read all the chapters, but have hopped around to explore my favorite plot points and am more or less caught up on most happenings in canon.

My favorite aspect of Detective Conan is the Black Organization plot. I'm deeply invested in the impacts the Organization has on the world of DCMK and regularly plunge into attempts to further develop it and understand it. I also have a penchant for developing Black Organization-centric AUs.

These days I am a not-so-prolific fanfiction author, a fandom-themed playlist creator, and dedicated to deeply analyzing what I can of canon to extrapolate things out. I'm someone who may recognize that many of Gosho's storytelling choices "aren't that deep" but choose to say, "But what if it WAS that deep?" Additionally, when it comes to my analyses and the way I consume the content, I tend to treat the original manga as the primary canon source, and treat anime adaptation as secondary.

Finally, despite the fact that it is an absolutely hopeless case, I am trying to timeline out both Detective Conan and Magic Kaito to get an idea of what the actual span of time the series take up actually could realistically be.

<spoiler>Nightmare's true identity is '''Jack Connery'''. Kaito realizes his true identity when the number of officers on site given by Nightmare off by 1, as he had counted the ''disguised Aoko'', meaning that Nightmare didn't hack into the police system, but counted the number ''manually''. Moreover, Kenta said that the "evil horse" inside his head will disappear once Nightmare vanish from this world, something that shouldn't be possible unless Jack himself is connected to Nightmare. This statement reveals that Kenta actually suffers from Cranial Disease that requires an expensive surgery, and Jack has been stealing jewelries around the globe to sell off and collect the fund. Additionally the reason he had been splitting loots with his accomplices is to make thieves around the globe keep joining up with him in the heist. Once the heist was over, he leaked their information to the police, or silence them himself.

Knowing that Kenta will be heartbroken if he knows that he beloved father is Nightmare, a criminal and murderer, Kaito uses his card gun to shoot Nightmare Mask before fleeing the scene. Kenta, Aoko, Nakomori, and Saguru soon arrive and witness Jack passing away as Kenta cries over his father dead body. While Nakamori and everyone else believe Jack's accident to be the result of him fighting with Kid and Nightmare, Saguru deduces the truth behind Kaito's action and silently keeps it to himself.</spoiler>

* The anime adds more detail to the paintings in the art gallery:
** A painting of a father and son hand-in-hand forms the background to Kaito's and Inspector Nakamori's conversation, foreshadowing Nightmare's true identity.
** A modified version of Rubens' ''[[Wikipedia: Samson and Delilah (Rubens)|Samson and Delilah]]'' frames the first conversation between Inspector Nakamori and Jack Connery.
* In the manga, Inspector Nakamori explains to Kaito that he did not call in a professional magician because it would cause the Japanese police to lose face. This line is cut from the anime.
* In the manga, Nightmare goes in-depth about what he knows about Kaitou Kid, explaining that he had once been a fan of Toichi Kuroba and had deduced Toichi to be the original Kaitou Kid. This explanation is simplified in the anime.
* In the manga, Inspector Nakamori explains that the Dark Knight's case is suspended in midair to prevent Kaitou Kid from tunneling into it from below. This line is cut in the anime.
