Conan thinks about Kohji Haneda's murder case. The website with the information has been taken down and hasn't been re-uploaded yet. But Kogoro get a call from the TV-station giving him an offer to appear in a show with Gaito Hotta, a known 'spirit-detective', who claims that he is going to call Kohji Haneda's spirit and have him reveal the truth of the murder. Conan suspects that Hotta might have dig up some information on the murder and tags along with Kogoro to meet him. In the taxi Kogoro and Conan discuss Hotta. Gaito Hotta is a TV-personality, who claims to solve mysteries by contacting the souls of dead people. Kogoro explain that Hotta is a fraud who had been exposed once during a case about a missing climber. A body had been found, but it was a completely different person. And it has been proved that Hotta had paid people to testify false witness statements and had done some investigation beforehand. Now he is probably trying to do a comeback. Conan guess that Hotta has chosen the Haneda murder, because it was so long ago, but Conan decides to see if Hotta has some information that can help him in figuring out Rum's identity.

The culprit is '''Sanpei Kokuri'''. The motive was that Hotta used his late sister's corpse for his show. A few years ago Kokuri's sister committed suicide in the mountains due to a break-up. But her body was never found. Later Hotta was making a show in the mountain (most likely in connection with a missing person case, that Conan and Kogoro discussed in the taxi) and 'found' the body claiming to have 'felt' it's spirit. Kokuri realized that Hotta must have found his sister's body a long time ago, but instead of reporting it to the police, he had buried it to use it in his show. So he killed Hotta in revenge for having humiliating her.

[[Masumi Sera|Masumi]] calls [[Mary]] 'mama', Indicating she is her mother. The only thing that Hotta knew is that someone saw Asaka holding a small mirror and that he believed Asaka, the bodyguard, is a woman. Mary considers that information boring and warns Masumi that she should be careful around Conan and that he may not the same boy they met 10 years ago.
Later at night, [[Gin]] and [[Vodka]] talk about the case. Gin comments that Rum screwed up in the [[Case from 17 years ago]]. Gin is more concerned about the fact that Kogoro went to investigate the murder. Gin immediately suggests that Kogoro be ''finished off'' before he becomes more of a threat.

Kokuri realized that Hotta must have found his sister's body a long time ago, but instead of reporting it to the police, he had buried it to use it in his show. So he killed Hotta in revenge for having humiliating her.

The episode starts with Kogoro going undercover at Beika Sport Center: stalking a man named Shoichiro Hitomi who is negotiating with a rich man by the swimming pool. After the negotiation failed, the man enters the sport club's restroom while Kogoro receives a call from Ran and Conan. The two informs him that since he won't be back for the lunch, they decide to go and have "cheap and unlimited buffet" by themselves at Viking which causes Kogoro's stomach to growl. At the same time, the target exits the restroom with a serious expression, worrying Kogoro. He follows Mr.Hitomi to Beika Hotel and witnesses him calling someone with a payphone. However, he runs into Ran and Conan who informs him that they are having lunch at the hotel. The three spies on Mr.Hitomi who glances at the reception when a young woman asks the employee if he has a package from a man named Manabu Anzai. Later, as Ran and Conan are eating in the restaurant, they witness Mr.Hitomi falling off the building.

The police soon arrive and take away Mr.Hitomi's body. Kogoro summarizes the situation before accident to Megure: he was riding the elevator with the victim and Minamizato when the victim left on the ninth floor. Kogoro quickly followed him to the stairway and witnessed him forced his way into Minamizato's room and attacked her. He broke the door down and saw the unconscious Minamizato on the floor and Hitomi attempting to escape through the balcony. The man slipped, and fell to his doom.

Megure interrogates Minamizawa who denies having any connection with her attacker/the victim. They finds out that the last person who made call with the victim was his sister-in-law, Kanako, at 11:20 AM. Afterward, Minamizawa asks the group to leave. At the lobby, Conan points out that despite having a mobile phone, the victim was using the payphone in the hotel prior to the accident. As they're conversing, Megure arrives and informs the three of the death of Hitomi's twin brother at Haido Mansion.

Kogoro reveals that the person who hired him was Takehiko Hitomi as he suspected that his twin brother was impersonating as him and engaging illegal businesses. He also found out that the man had a huge amount of debt. Although they think that the two case are separated, they decide to head to the site of murder. The crime scene show that the murderer broke in through the window to rob the house, and that the house key is a special one that cannot be duplicated easily. They interrogates Kanako, who informs them that she was at Beika Town before returning home and witness her husband murdered. Kanako reveals that she gave her brother-in-law the spare key and her husband's phone number as she wants them to reconcile after the two fought due to their father's will of leaving the company to Takehiko. She also reveals that she was called to the Beika Station by Shoichiro at 12:30 AM but he never came. From the information, they conclude that the two cases are not connected and are just synchronicity. However, Conan still has doubt about the attempted murder of Minamizato and her unknown connection with the two victims.

Recalling that Minamizato was at the lobby asking about a package from Anzai, the three heads to her room to question about the man's identity when a man in sunglasses attempting to murder her with an ash tray.

However, she lost all contact with him half a year ago after giving him a huge amount of cashes and came to Beika to find out about his whereabouts after some people told her that he was last seen in Tokyo. Kogoro concludes that the man must be a gold digger who is only after her money. Also, the picture of Anzai matches with the man Kogoro spotted in the Sport Center where he tailed Shoichiro, which the fitness instructor reveals that the man also went under alias Tanizaki. They also witness him with another woman who is clearly targeted by him for her money. With this revelation, Conan finally connects the relationship of all the people involved with the two cases and begins the deduction.

[[Hiroshi Agasa|Professor Agasa]] has created a computer program that can give you the identity of anyone in the world. He decides to use it to figure out who [[Kaitou Kid]] is. Before he does, the program gives him a history of the Kid, as well as preview clips of the eighth movie. When he is about to finally figure out who Kid is, Kid appears on the computer screen, announcing he has hacked the program.

[[Conan Edogawa|Conan]], [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]], [[Ran Mouri|Ran]], and the [[Detective Boys]] are invited to visit a client in a hotel beside a theme park called Miracle land. Once they reach the hotel, a worker there brings them to a meeting room on the top floor and tells them to sit down in the chairs while he goes to get something. When he comes back he gives everyone an ID watch that allows free access to Miracle Land as well as free food and drinks.

Ran and the kids leave to enjoy the park while Kogoro works, but the hotel worker tells Conan to also stay. Kogoro's client appears on a television in the room and tells them they must solve a mystery. To make sure that they have to accept he explains that the ID watches, which Conan and Kogoro also have on, cannot come off and will explode if the culprit cannot be determined. He also tells them that they have GPS systems on them so if they are tampered with, or if Ran or the others leaves the park, or if Conan and Kogoro try to go to the police, then the watches will explode.

Conan tries to contact [[Ai Haibara|Haibara]] via their badges to stop everyone from entering (which arms the watches), but he's too late. Instead he asks her to keep the others from going on the Super Snake roller coaster, which extends beyond the boundaries of the park, or from leaving the park.

The client tells Conan and Kogoro that two detectives have given up, one is still working, and the other one has failed. The TV then shows a detective that Kogoro knows, named Ryu, locked in a room with an ID on. He is told his deduction was wrong, and then dies from the watch exploding.

Conan and Kogoro are given a phone that can only receive calls and just one clue, which leads to an abandoned hotel. There they find a locker in the basement holding a government licensed gun and some ski masks. As they leave the building some cops think they are related to [[Kaitou Kid]], since Kid was sighted nearby recently. They discover that the hotel was used as the base for a robbery of a truck delivering money to a bank on April 4th, and on the same date Kid stole some jewels from a nearby company.

They are brought to the police station where Kogoro is interrogated and they assume he is Kid's accomplice. The client calls the phone, which Conan has, so he runs to the washroom to answer it. The client identifies Conan as [[Shinichi Kudo|Shinichi]], so Conan uses his voice-changing bow tie to explain that they didn't go to the police voluntarily and what they found. He receives the second hint, "Go to Yoru no Cafe Terrace". Conan leaves the police station to try and figure out where to go.

As Conan tries to figure out the hint he meets [[Heiji Hattori]], who also has the ID and [[Kazuha Toyama|Kazuha]] as his leverage. Kogoro eventually finds Conan and Heiji. [[Juzo Megure|Inspector Megure]] wants to know what's going on, but Kogoro can't tell him because the client is watching them. The client notices Kogoro with the police so he sets off a bomb as a warning. Kogoro pushes Megure and leaves, taking Heiji and Conan with him. Inspector Megure lets them go because Kogoro secretly gave him a note explaining Ran's danger and asking that he make sure Ran and the others don't leave the park.

Kogoro splits up from Heiji and Conan again to investigate on his own. Heiji tells Conan that he got a different hint than Conan and the combine the two to figure out they have to go to a university's club office. There they meet [[Saguru Hakuba]], a famous teenage detective from England who chases Kid; Saguru also has an ID watch and joins their investigation.

In the club room they find out from some members that the 3rd president (Suehiko Itoh) of the club was charged with the murder of one of the classmates (Nishio). When they go to eat, Heiji contacts [[Goro Otaki|Inspector Otaki]] in Osaka to help him find research on Itoh. While eating, Saguru tells them that Itoh was placed on the police wanted list, as one of the culprits who attacked a cash delivery truck on April 4th. Meanwhile, Kogoro asks [[Eri Kisaki|Eri]] if she can give him details on the April 4th cash delivery truck attack case.

After eating, Conan, Heiji, and Saguru go to Nishio's office, the scene of his murder. There they learn that employee and former university club member Reiko Shimizu committed suicide because she was being pushed too hard about Nishio's murder. Heiji then confirms with the client through the phone that the mystery he wants them to solve was this murder case.

Immediately after, they are attacked by two motorcyclists working for the culprit who is also trying to kill Kaitou Kid. They try to run away and split up. Using his skateboard, Conan gets away but one of them chases him up to a retractable bridge, where he falls from it into the river, hitting his leg on the side of the railing on the way and breaking it.

Meanwhile, in Miracle Land a thief tries to escape the police by taking [[Ayumi Yoshida|Ayumi]] hostage and starts to walk to the exit. Right when he's about to leave he is stopped by [[Sonoko Suzuki|Sonoko]], who is also texting and doesn't realize the situation. She pushes him out of the way, as it's the entrance, and Ayumi escapes before the ID can be set off.

Conan reawakens in the back of [[Hiroshi Agasa|Agasa]]'s car with Heiji. Heiji tells Conan that Saguru called Agasa to pick Conan up, but when Agasa arrived, Saguru was gone. While driving to the hotel Heiji tells Conan that Ootaki gave him some interesting information about the case...

Apparently there was mascara on the scope of the sniper rifle used to kill Nishio, of a unique brand Reiko favored, but she never said anything while being interrogated. Then, on May 15th, she was seen walking off the side of a cliff into the water below. Her body was never found and then 8 days later Itoh had escaped from the hospital. Heiji also explains that on April 4th, when Kid stole some jewels from a museum, his escape route collided with the cash delivery truck robbers' escape route. The robbers started shooting at Kid because he saw their faces, and since then, whenever Kid tries to steal something, his life is targeted. Professor Agasa tells them that Kogoro was already at the hotel to reveal what he found out, and the hurry to make sure he doesn't give a wrong answer.

Meanwhile, Kaitou Kid goes to the art museum and tells the owner that he doesn't like having his life at stake. He also finally figured out why he was trying to kill him still even after he returned the jewel: it was because he saw him at the crime scene, as well as the face of his subordinate (who is hiding behind a curtain). Kaitou Kid summons the police, for them to arrest the museum owner for his part in the robbery, releasing sleeping gas to make sure the owner can't escape, but when Kid checks behind the curtain he finds that the other culprit is gone.

Kogoro is already giving his report to the client in the hotel when Heiji knocks him out after Conan misses and hits the worker with the tranquilizer shot. They discover the entrance to the hotel room from which the client has been monitoring them.

Entering the room reveals a sophisticated computer setup, as the client uses it and a motorized wheelchair to compensate for a previous car accident that left him blind and partially paralyzed. Heiji and Conan explain that the client, Nishio, and Reiko were staging the robbery of an armored car. The robbery went wrong when Nishio killed a guard and was seen escaping by Kaitou Kid, so Nishio was murdered in order make sure the police didn't find out about the other two. However, Nishio was already dead before the client shot him and '''Reiko Shimizu''' was the true killer. When the client tried to escape the city after his "crime", his car turned out to have been sabotaged in an attempt to kill him, and created the accident that gave him his current injuries.

The client then is revealed to be '''Suehiko Itoh'''. Reiko appears at that moment and confirms the deduction. She tried to kill them to prevent the truth from coming out. Since Conan has one injured leg, Heiji throws a spear up at the ceiling and Conan jumps, swings on the spear, turns and knocks Reiko out using his soccer ball.

Conan then tries to deactivate the IDs because a timed explosion is nearing the end of its countdown. However, the computer won't give him access to shut the IDs down or to change the timer, and Reiko destroyed part of the computer earlier while trying to shoot them. Conan resets the whole system and links it up with the client's separate laptop to try to input commands.

Time is ticking down and Conan has to figure out the password to the question to be able to deactivate it. The hint question to the password is, "The name of the person I love the most". They enter Reiko and it's incorrect and if they enter in the wrong password again it will shut down. Conan concludes that Itoh is narcissistic enough that the answer is actually Itoh's name, which turns out to be correct. Conan resets the timer on the wristbands at the very last second and then release the wristbands. Although he could not turn off the area restriction, they can be removed to end the danger.

Chiba collects everyone's wristbands, and the Super Snake is re-opened for the kids to ride before they leave the park. The children and teenagers all ride on the roller coaster. However, Heiji realizes that Genta still has his ID wristwatch on—Sonoko lost her ID early in the day but later found it in her bag, which Chiba hadn't known and counted hers as Genta's. Haibara removes the ID but because of the ride suddenly turning it flies to Heiji's hands. Just then, the roller coaster enters a loop, causing the ID to fly to the empty seat behind Conan.

Conan attempts to dislodge his restraints to get at it, even though the roller coaster is heading into a loop and without the safety restraint he'll likely fall to his death. Just before he can break the restraints, Kaitou Kid flies in on his hang glider and grabs the ID, throwing it safely away from the roller coaster to go off like a firework.

Conan reveals to Heiji that Kid knew what was going on because he was disguised as Saguru (using Sonoko's "lost" ID) and apparently waited after returning the wristband to make sure things turned out all right. Additionally, Itoh knows Conan as Shinichi thanks to the collected fingerprint when Conan sit on the armchair at the initial meeting. Additionally, the death of the detective Ryu turned out to have been staged, as he was paid to pretend to die. Kogoro grumbles in disgust about Ryu having done something so stupid just for money, only to receive a phone call asking him to star in a commercial for sleeping pills — and he refuses only until a great sum of money is mentioned.

* In several scenes where Hakuba, Conan, and Heiji are standing together during a call from Itoh (E.g. the mystery club room and office crime scene), the scene shifts to Itoh's computer room. Only two dots representing Conan and Heiji are on the GPS location monitor, meaning that Hakuba's pass is an ordinary one and he lied about being part of the deduction contest.
* When communicating with Heiji and Conan, Itoh acknowledges them by name multiple times and keeps saying things like he's impressed that the "two" of them made it so far even though Hakuba was still with them at that point. He did not mention Hakuba at all because he never even knew he was there because he was not part of the contest and his ID was an ordinary one.
* Before Itoh began explaining the rules of his "game" he mentioned that he brought four detectives there before Kogoro and Conan. One of them, Ryu, failed. He pretended to die and also mentioned the names of the two detectives who "gave up" and was presumably killed (which also turned out to be false). That left the one detective that according to Itoh was still investigating. Conan runs into Hattori later who is revealed to be the fourth detective. The fact that Kazuha is there and has an ID as well affirms the fact that he is really part of the game. And Itoh had no reason to not mention Hakuba if he brought him there.

Codenamed agents like Snake report directly to a sub-boss and so far are only told partial information about the goal of the Magic Kaito Organization. Codenamed agents in turn manage a small squad of low level agents who wear near identical beige trenchcoats and matching fedoras.

So far the the only known goal of the Magic Kaito Organization is to find [[Pandora Gem|Pandora]], the gem which grants eternal life to the one who drinks its tears when Volley comet passes over. It is unknown what the Magic Kaito Organization intends to do with Pandora, or whether finding Pandora is their only goal rather than one facet of a larger plan.

==Modus operandi==

The Magic Kaito Organization steals "big jewels" they think might be Pandora and return them to the sub-boss to be checked against the light of the moon. For some missions, the group acts in large numbers with a codenamed agent like Snake leading a group of many minor operatives. Other times codenamed agents work together without backup, as Snake and Rose were shown to do. Except for the sub-boss, all codenamed agents and their lackeys are shown to be armed at all times. So far, they do not seem to be concerned with silencers.

The Magic Kaito Organization is clearly very rich, shown by them using an expansive traditional Japanese home with escape tunnel as a hideout.

So far the Magic Kaito Organization has only targeted jewels of superlative size, typically the most massive in a particular category. Presumably they figure that the gem must be exceptionally large in order to hide the doublet Pandora within it.

Both [[Kaito Kuroba]] and the Magic Kaito Organization decide to target the Blue Birthday sapphire. Snake waits for Kaitou Kid on a roof and confronts the thief who he believes to be [[Toichi Kuroba]]. Snake reveals himself to be the one who killed Toichi Kuroba eight years before the events of Magic Kaito, making the death look like a stage accident.

Snake shoots Kid and takes possession of what he thinks is the Blue Birthday, but Kid survived thanks to putting the real Blue Birthday gem in his breast pocket. Snake goes to an old-fashioned mansion on the edge of the city, where a mysterious balding man with a mustache praises Snake's work, saying "This jewel could be the one ''he'' is searching for." The man then went on to explain what the Pandora Gem is: a jewel hidden within a larger jewel that can be identified because it glows red under the moonlight and will, at the time of a comet, "cry tears of immortality". Kaitou Kid continues to look for the Pandora gem, this time pursuing the blue ruby known as the "Red Tear," owned by a family of British magicians known as the Hoppers. Kaito suspects that Snake believes the gem has a good chance of being the Pandora Gem. However, since Kaito's father Toichi was trained by James Hopper, grandfather of the current magician Jody Hopper, Kaito knew that the gem was actually a sort of photo album which, when illuminated, projected images of the Hopper family onto the walls.

When Snake arrived to steal the Red Tear, he had one of his men dress as the Kaitou Kid while he himself went backstage and non-fatally shot many in the magician troupe in an attempt to get Jody to turn the gem over to him. He was about to shoot Jody but Kaito saved her life, then led Snake on a chase which ended in the latter falling out a window. Snake landed safely on an adjacent roof and presumably fled.

==Relation to the Black Organization from Detective Conan==
It is unknown if the [[Magic Kaito]]'s unnamed organization and Detective Conan's [[Black Organization]] are the same organization, partners, or entirely unrelated to one another. Theories for or against their connection have been presented by fans.

*Their bosses are referred to as "that person" (Ano kata).
*They both are potentially interested in obtaining immortality. The Magic Kaito Organization is looking for Pandora for the purposes of immortality. One of the [[Black_Organization#Goal|most common theories]] is that Black Organization is working on [[APTX 4869]] in order to achieve immortality.
*[[Snake]] could be short for [[Wikipedia:snake wine|snake wine]]. The anime-only character [[Rose]] may be a reference to [[Wikipedia:rose wine|rose wine]], and the other anime-only character [[Spider]] was drinking some sort of alcohol from a bottle called 'spider'.
*[[Toichi Kuroba]] taught [[Sharon Vineyard]] the finer art of disguise.

The next day, Heiji takes Conan with him to participate in a reality television deduction competition between high school detectives Heiji Hattori, Natsuki Koshimizu, Junya Tokitsu, and Saguru Hakuba. While there, they are being tested, but Tokitsu declares that he has solved the mystery and decides to test his theory out. He says that it would take around 30 minutes. While the rest wait, they have dinner. During that they discuss the purpose of the lavendel in the house, and Natuski mentions that it reminds her of a murder mystery that took place around a year ago.

After a thorough investigation, the culprit is revealed to be the detective of the South, '''Natsuki Koshimizu'''. Her real age is 20, and she has pretended to be a high school detective to lure them in, complete with using her old school uniform. but she made a mistake by talking about strict school dress code, as it's unlikely they would have allowed pierced ear, like Natsuki had. Natsuki confesses and explains she was searching for the detective whose inadequate investigation caused a massive tragedy.

The owner of the Lavender Mansion was a mentally unstable socialitè, who commited suicide by hanging a year ago. Natsuki's best friend '''Kana Mizuguchi''' worked as the lady's maid, with Renzo Kouya as the housekeeper; they were seen as possible suspects but were acquitted due to at there were no signs of foul play. Some time later, however, the investigation was re-opened and Tokitsu was the detective in charge, as it was believed that it was a murder; some new tricks had been used in the house, ''after'' the suicide, leading Tokitsu and the police to believe that the lady was killed and the murder escaped using the trick. The top suspect was Kana, and she begged Natsuki to protect her from this "high school detective guy with a weird accent"; she ended up cracking from the pressure and commited suicide by throwing herself into the sea before Natsuki could clear her unfairly tainted reputation. (The thief was revealed to be Tsuchio, whom Natsuki located and forced to pose as a productor.)

Since Natsuki didn't have the detective's name, she went for the guy's gender and accent. The three other school detectives fit in this profile: Junya Tokitsu used an archaic male pronoun for himself (''shousei''), Heiji Hattori had a thick Osaka accent, and Suguru Hakuba's Japanese was odd since he lived abroads and got most used to the foreign languages. She confronted Tokitsu first by tricking him into ''''sharing'''' conclusions and he began bragging about his skills, causing Natsuki to beat him to death with the hammer used in the trick to the locked room.

The trick to the locked room was to remove the window frame and then replace it after leaving. The screws holding the frame in are removed and cut short. The frame is replaced after the murderer exits by simply gluing it back into place with the short screws slid into their corresponding holes so the window looks untampered with. Natsuki kept the screw parts on her person, which served as evidence of her guilt. The reason she pretended to be afraid of the thunder was to come up with a excuse to cover her ears, when a wind blow in and could have expose her pierced ears.
