<spoiler>After giving Ayumi an anathestic for her dental removal, she transported the unconscious girl from her waiting room
to her apartment room. The designs of both rooms are identical. To further keep Ayumi occupied as a witness, she manipulated the clock
in her room to make Ayumi think she won't make it for an airing of a Kamen Yaiba episode. She lets her watch the episode live at her house but it
is actually just a taped recording of a previous episode. The evidence that gave her trick away was the placement of the Kamen Yaiba cards in her apartment
room.

'''Yoko Sawaki''' killed Nakamoto because 26 years ago he kidnapped and killed her older brother. Due to lack of evidence, the police was forced to released Nakamoto as the only witness was her who was only 6 years old at that time. She confessed to Conan that she wished there was a person like him in the police so that her brother wouldn't have died in vain. Yoko then turned herself in with Conan speculating that the reason she used Ayumi as a witness is because she wanted either Kogoro or Conan to find out the truth, which is what she wanted 26 years ago.</spoiler>

Sonoko, Ran, and Conan go to Izu because of Sonoko's schemes to get a man. At the beach, Sonoko takes a picture of Ran fixing her bathing suit and threatens to send the picture to Shinichi. Sonoko is upset about her lack of love life. However, a college student approaches the girls and asks Sonoko to lunch. He appears to be romantically interested and asks Sonoko to dinner as well. They agree to meet at their lodgings later that day. The college student tells the group a story about a brunette that was murdered a year ago and now haunts the restaurant he wants to dine at. Ran is frighten by the story and forbids Sonoko in using the camera to capture a ghost in it. Sonoko suggest that maybe they could show such a picture to Shinichi and see if he can figure something out, since she is going to show the other picture anyway. The group then finds out that another brunette was murdered in the woods recently in the same manner as the brunette from a year ago.

The group goes to the crime scene and meet Sango Yokomizo who cautions them to stay safe. Sonoko, Ran, and Conan are staying at a cheap inn because Sonoko doesn't want to scare men away by staying at an expensive luxury hotel. In the evening, the three of them wait for the college student to pick them up in his car. Sonoko realizes that she forgot something in her room and goes back up to get it. Here she discovers a suspicious figure searching her bags. The figure attacks her and is about to stab her with a knife when Ran and Conan, worried about the time Sonoko is taking, come to find her.

Sonoko is saved and the figure escapes through the window. The stoic, and somewhat unfriendly, high school student Makoto Kyogoku that is working at the inn moves the group to another room. Ran thinks she has seen this person somewhere before but cannot remember where. The college student shows up muddy and wet and Conan suspects him of attacking Sonoko. Sonoko says she bit the attacker's bicep in her struggle and Conan makes the college student take off his shirt. However, the college student does not have a bite mark on his arm. Makoto has a bandaged bicep and falls under suspicion but Sonoko says he wasn't the attacker since the attacker was hairy. The college student, Sonoko, Ran, and Conan decide to have dinner at the inn because the college student says his car broke down. Conan speculates that Sonoko's attacker was looking for the photographs she was taking during the trip, but cannot figure out why. Conan does not think there are any incriminating photos after Sonoko shows them, after taking out the one of Ran. Perhaps the murderer overheard Sonoko talking about the photographs and misunderstood. This case is still full of mysteries and Conan cannot figure out why Sonoko was attacked and why the killer would think that she took a picture, that needs to get rid of.

<spoiler>The big man, Terabayashi, is revealed to be a police detective from Chiba and he is not the serial murderer from the past. The actual murderer from one year ago and who tries to kill Sonoko is '''Tadahiko Michiwaki'''. Terabayashi thinks that he has murdered four other women from his district. Michiwaki is the one who attacked Sonoko last night and escapes before Ran and Conan came into Sonoko's room. Sonoko didn't bite her attacker in the arm, but in the leg. She got in wrong in the darkness. Michiwaki also made his own car move towards the cliff by putting the hand brake down while talking to her. In order to prevent the car moving, he put ice under the wheel. Which later melts because of the air conditioner was turned on and it allowed the car to move. People would assume that the water tit left behind came from the conditioner. He left the tool to pick locks to leave the impression that someone broke into the car.

The motive as to why Michiwaki murdered many brown-haired woman is because he was rejected by his brown-haired girlfriend and Sonoko and the previous victims resembles the one who rejected him. Another reason why he is targeting Sonoko was that when he killing his latest victim, a train passed by behind him and he felt lights from it. He mistook it as a flash from a camera and when he later saw Sonoko with a camera not far from the crime scene, he thought that she took a picture of him with the victim and was going to show it to Shinichi, when she talked about the picture of Ran. An impression that was probably strengted by Sonoko's other pictures, that showed couples in private moments. It made him think that Sonoko took the picture in the belief it was another intimate moment. Sonoko never told Michiwaki what the picture really showed, because Ran always interrupted. So he approached the group with the intention to find the picture and destroy it. Conan, Ran and Terabayashi arrived at the scene, but it is almost too late, until Makoto saves Sonoko from being stabbed. He incapacitated Michiwaki easily using his karate moves.

Later, Makoto is revealed to be the captain of Haido High's karate team, which explains why Ran felt that she had met him before. He was worry for Sonoko, because he had seen Michiwaki flirting with two other girls before her. He explains that he once saw Sonoko during a karate competition that both he and Ran were involved with, cheering for Ran in such a spirited way that he felt immediately drawn to her.</spoiler>

[[Hiroshi Agasa|Professor Agasa]] takes the [[Detective Boys]] with him to an onsen (hot spring) to fix a product the Onsen owner purchased from him. At the onsen, the kids are introduced to four cast members filming a drama about a hitman. Since the bath is crowded, the kids decide to bathe in the early morning. As they head to the bath, [[Ai Haibara|Haibara]] and [[Ayumi Yoshida|Ayumi]] discover Ganji Tetsuyama, the scriptwriter, inside the bath's women section, dead.

<spoiler>Conan uses his voice-changing bowtie to impersonate Agasa, and reveals that the one waiting on the veranda was Tetsuyama, and the Tetsuyama spotted heading to the sauna was the culprit, '''Junsaku Tanzawa''', in disguise. Conan explains Tanzawa tricked the lecherous Tetsuyama into staying in the women's sauna all night in order to see the naked Mishio Natori taking a bath; this is evidenced by the bottle in the dressing room which Tetsuyama used to stay hydrated, and the match cinders used to smoke his pipe.

As evidence towards Tanzawa as the culprit, Conan reveals that he was completely engrossed in pretending to be Tetsuyama that he took the latter's silver ring without noticing - and that the ring was stained by the sulphur in the bath's hot steam, proving that the murder has been committed inside the bath. Also, the fact that he would barge into the women section of the bath, with certain knowledge that there were "only" two little girls and no adult woman inside, reveals that he must have known more than he wanted to show.

Tanzawa confesses and laments how Tetsuyama denied him of his prided role in the drama because he was afraid of being overshadowed as a script writer. Later, Conan has Agasa inspect an irritation at his behind. Haibara appears along with Ayumi and reveals that she placed chili pepper in Conan's underwear in order to catch him in an exposed position, as revenge for seeing her and Ayumi - if only by accident - naked and uncautiously making off-hand comments about it afterwards.</spoiler>

Conan explains Tanzawa tricked the lecherous Tetsuyama into staying in the women's sauna all night in order to see the naked Mishio Natori taking a bath; this is evidenced by the bottle in the dressing room which Tetsuyama used to stay hydrated, and the match cinders used to smoke his pipe.

As evidence towards Tanzawa as the culprit, Conan reveals that he was completely engrossed in pretending to be Tetsuyama that he took the latter's silver ring without noticing - and that the ring was stained by the sulphur in the bath's hot steam, proving that the murder has been committed inside the bath. Also, the fact that he would barge into the women section of the bath, with certain knowledge that there were "only" two little girls and no adult woman inside, reveals that he must have known more than he wanted to show.

Tanzawa confesses and laments how Tetsuyama denied him of his prided role in the drama because he was afraid of being overshadowed as a script writer. Later, Conan has Agasa inspect an irritation at his behind. Haibara appears along with Ayumi and reveals that she placed chili pepper in Conan's underwear in order to catch him in an exposed position, as revenge for seeing her and Ayumi - if only by accident - naked and uncautiously making off-hand comments about it afterwards.

Takagi and Sato are on a date at Tropical Land. Meanwhile, Shiratori, along with several other officers, are at the park in a surveillance van investigating a rumored drug deal involving a dealer in hiding named Asakichi Yakura. Shiratori also plans to intentionally interfere with Takagi's date. Shiratori has one of the officers bring the Detective Boys to the park and put them in Takagi and Sato's care. Takagi plans to present Sato with a ring inside his green backpack and discovers a bag of [[Wikipedia: Heroin|heroin]] inside. He realizes that he picked up the wrong backpack during the roller coaster ride. They return to the ride and learn from the attendant that no one returned asking for the backpack. Conan discerns the bag's owner was delivering the drugs without knowing what was inside, causing Sato to suspect Yakura's involvement. The backpack's strap reveals that the owner wore it on his left shoulder, suggesting he is left handed. They proceed to a photo-booth to examine the passengers who were with them on the roller coaster. Meanwhile, the officers misunderstand Sato's conversation, believing Kekkon (血痕?, lit. Bloodstain) to mean Kekkon (結婚?, lit. Marriage) and Heroin to mean Hirōen (披露宴?, lit. Reception) which causes them to believe that Takagi proposed. This allures them to seek out Takagi's backpack with the ring. At the photo booth, the four suspects are a golfer, a baseball player, soccer player, and swimmer. The golfer's writing reveals him to be left handed due to the ink smearing to the right.

<spoiler>Conan investigates the backpack's contents and upon sniffing oil from a rag, reveals the owner to be the '''baseball player'''. Conan explains that out of the other three athletes, the baseball player uses the oil for his baseball glove. They then search for the baseball player and upon finding him, follow him to the aquatic show. When Sato discovers the baseball player is meeting with Yakura, she attempts to apprehend him. Yakura manages to escape Sato's grip and flees towards the ferris wheel. The fireworks and ferris wheel cause Sato to remember a traumatic moment, halting her to a standstill. Conan manages to knock Yakura into the ocean. Takagi's backpack falls in as well, meaning that it and the ring are lost forever. The police apprehend Yakura and, satisfied with Takagi's loss, leave. Takagi comforts Sato and promises her that he will not leave her.</spoiler>

Conan, Masumi, Sonoko, and Ran go buy swimsuits in an upscale apartment store. The girls spend a while trying on many two-pieces, which causes Conan to remember something from the past.

As goes out for a stroll to clear his mind. Conan witnesses the ''extremely'' bitchy behavior of a rich woman named Ritsuko Sashihara. She belittles and abuses another client (Tomoyo), the shop assistant in charge (Reia) and her assistant Ayami. Few later, Ritsuko is found strangled to death and bleeding in the dressing room. Conan and Masumi check on the corpse and realize that she left some dying clues, and Conan recalls more and more of the old incident that he's been thinking about through the shopping trip.

<spoiler>The culprit is '''Ayami Yamaki''', Ritsuko Sashihara's assistant. She did it because she had been humiliated by the victim when she dress her dog in the same outfit as Yamaki. When she saw that, Yamaki understood that she was a slave to her boss and wanted to leave the company, but couldn't since she was in massive debt to her cruel boss. She became so desperate that she decided to kill Ritsuko to free herself.

Conan thinks about how Masumi didn't know the difference between how Americans and Japanese count and how Europeans count, and connects it to other instances of Masumi saying and doing things that someone who lived in America wouldn't—being surprised at how thin a baseball bat was, and keeping her fork in her left hand while eating during the Red Woman case, and referring to soccer as "football" during the Romance Novelist case. Conan realizes that these instances show that '''Masumi actually lived in the United Kingdom, not in the United States''', in Britain, cricket is more popular than baseball and has a wider bat, when eating, one would not switch the fork to the right hand, as is the case in the United States, and the British refer to association football as "Football", while in the U.S. it's called "Soccer".

As Conan wonders why Masumi would lie about this, he begins to think of England, and finally remembers something. He and Ran did meet Masumi before, several years ago, alongside other people.</spoiler>

<spoiler>The other robber is '''Yasue Kitamori'''. Yusaku and Shuichi explain that they knew this from the fact that she is not wearing a swimsuit under her outerwear, and her purchase, a pair of beach sandals. Since the other robber fell into the sea, the bank notes in the robber's wallet would be drenched and thus too suspicious to pay with. Unlike the clothes the other two suspects purchased, Yasue's sandals were cheap enough to pay for them with coins instead. Secondly, Yusaku and Shuichi noticed that Yasue's watch was stuck at 10:10. This time is what watches on display at shops are usually set to, since the handles don't obstruct the brand logos this way. All branded watches have serial numbers, so it will only take a simple comparison between Yasue's watch and the ones stolen during the robbery to prove her involvement in the crime. Yasue confesses and explains that during their escape, she and her partner got into an argument over Yasue taking the watch from the loot for herself and that this argument caused the car crash.

Conan realizes that Masumi knows that he is Shinichi Kudo, the Akai family's middle brother is '''Shukichi Haneda''', and that their mother is '''Mary''', now somehow shrunken.

Masumi thinks to herself that while Conan has finally remembered her, and has remembered that he made Shuichi smile and laugh when she could not, there is ''another'' reason she calls him a "wizard", a reason which he does not know.</spoiler>

<spoiler>The other robber is '''Yasue Kitamori'''. Yusaku and Shuichi explain that they knew this from the fact that she is not wearing a swimsuit under her outerwear, and her purchase, a pair of beach sandals. Since the other robber fell into the sea, the bank notes in the robber's wallet would be drenched and thus too suspicious to pay with. Unlike the clothes the other two suspects purchased, Yasue's sandals were cheap enough to pay for them with coins instead. Secondly, Yusaku and Shuichi noticed that Yasue's watch was stuck at 10:10. This time is what watches on display at shops are usually set to, since the handles don't obstruct the brand logos this way. All branded watches have serial numbers, so it will only take a simple comparison between Yasue's watch and the ones stolen during the robbery to prove her involvement in the crime. Yasue confesses and explains that during their escape, she and her partner got into an argument over Yasue taking the watch from the loot for herself and that this argument caused the car crash.

Conan realizes that Masumi knows that he is Shinichi Kudo, the Akai family's middle brother is '''Shukichi Haneda''', and that their mother is '''Mary''', now somehow shrunken.

Masumi thinks to herself that while Conan has finally remembered her, and has remembered that he made Shuichi smile and laugh when she could not, there is ''another'' reason she calls him a "wizard", a reason which he does not know.</spoiler>

Conan, Masumi, Sonoko, and Ran go buy swimsuits in an upscale apartment store. The girls spend a while trying on many two-pieces, which causes Conan to remember something from the past.

As goes out for a stroll to clear his mind. Conan witnesses the ''extremely'' bitchy behavior of a rich woman named Ritsuko Sashihara. She belittles and abuses another client (Tomoyo), the shop assistant in charge (Reia) and her assistant Ayami. Few later, Ritsuko is found strangled to death and bleeding in the dressing room. Conan and Masumi check on the corpse and realize that she left some dying clues, and Conan recalls more and more of the old incident that he's been thinking about through the shopping trip.

<spoiler>The culprit is '''Ayami Yamaki''', Ritsuko Sashihara's assistant. She did it because she had been humiliated by the victim when she dress her dog in the same outfit as Yamaki. When she saw that, Yamaki understood that she was a slave to her boss and wanted to leave the company, but couldn't since she was in massive debt to her cruel boss. She became so desperate that she decided to kill Ritsuko to free herself.

Conan thinks about how Masumi didn't know the difference between how Americans and Japanese count and how Europeans count, and connects it to other instances of Masumi saying and doing things that someone who lived in America wouldn't—being surprised at how thin a baseball bat was, and keeping her fork in her left hand while eating during the Red Woman case, and referring to soccer as "football" during the Romance Novelist case. Conan realizes that these instances show that '''Masumi actually lived in the United Kingdom, not in the United States''', in Britain, cricket is more popular than baseball and has a wider bat, when eating, one would not switch the fork to the right hand, as is the case in the United States, and the British refer to association football as "Football", while in the U.S. it's called "Soccer".

As Conan wonders why Masumi would lie about this, he begins to think of England, and finally remembers something. He and Ran did meet Masumi before, several years ago, alongside other people.</spoiler>

Takagi and Sato are on a date at Tropical Land. Meanwhile, Shiratori, along with several other officers, are at the park in a surveillance van investigating a rumored drug deal involving a dealer in hiding named Asakichi Yakura. Shiratori also plans to intentionally interfere with Takagi's date. Shiratori has one of the officers bring the Detective Boys to the park and put them in Takagi and Sato's care. Takagi plans to present Sato with a ring inside his green backpack and discovers a bag of [[Wikipedia: Heroin|heroin]] inside. He realizes that he picked up the wrong backpack during the roller coaster ride. They return to the ride and learn from the attendant that no one returned asking for the backpack. Conan discerns the bag's owner was delivering the drugs without knowing what was inside, causing Sato to suspect Yakura's involvement. The backpack's strap reveals that the owner wore it on his left shoulder, suggesting he is left handed. They proceed to a photo-booth to examine the passengers who were with them on the roller coaster. Meanwhile, the officers misunderstand Sato's conversation, believing Kekkon (血痕?, lit. Bloodstain) to mean Kekkon (結婚?, lit. Marriage) and Heroin to mean Hirōen (披露宴?, lit. Reception) which causes them to believe that Takagi proposed. This allures them to seek out Takagi's backpack with the ring. At the photo booth, the four suspects are a golfer, a baseball player, soccer player, and swimmer. The golfer's writing reveals him to be left handed due to the ink smearing to the right.

=== Resolution ===
<spoiler>Conan investigates the backpack's contents and upon sniffing oil from a rag, reveals the owner to be the '''baseball player'''. Conan explains that out of the other three athletes, the baseball player uses the oil for his baseball glove. They then search for the baseball player and upon finding him, follow him to the aquatic show. When Sato discovers the baseball player is meeting with Yakura, she attempts to apprehend him. Yakura manages to escape Sato's grip and flees towards the ferris wheel. The fireworks and ferris wheel cause Sato to remember a traumatic moment, halting her to a standstill. Conan manages to knock Yakura into the ocean. Takagi's backpack falls in as well, meaning that it and the ring are lost forever. The police apprehend Yakura and, satisfied with Takagi's loss, leave. Takagi comforts Sato and promises her that he will not leave her.</spoiler>
