Michiko Yoshikawa invites the Detective Boys to Kosuke Omura's writing class, as she wants to learn how to write a novel. The class is held at Ryoji Nojima's house, who sponsored Omura for his books. When Nojima reads how the children write a story, he decides to take them to the basement, where he keeps many valuable books. He asks the group to start reading the book he handled for references.

During lunch break, Michiko revealed that she cut her finger on a book. Ayumi then gave Michiko a band-aid. Moments later, she suddenly collapsed. She is later taken to the hospital.

The police found out that one of the book has a highly-concentrated poison on it. Conan then realizes that the book cover color is Paris Green. It is later being confirmed by Yujiro Tamaki that it is the color that was produced using a powerful poison in the past. Michiko most likely touched the book unconsiously.

However, after Conan found a book with bloodstains and a scratch on the shelf, he knows who is the culprit.

=== Resolution ===
<spoiler>The culprit is '''Kosuke Omura'''. The intended victim was Ryoji Nojima, but Michiko unknowingly fell into his trap. Michiko licked her wounded finger which made her swallow the poison. The cause was a poisoned box cutter blade inside the book, not the book cover. Kosuke originally planned to poison Ryoji when he cut his finger while picking up the wrongly-placed book from the shelf. Since there are poisonous books in the library, he could make it look like an accidental death. When Nojima asks him for his motive, Omura admits that he when he was broke, he stole and sold Nojima's book. He was later found out by Nojima, and he was made to work like a slave because of that. Due to having reached his limit, he decided to murder Ryoji Nojima.

==== Aftermath ====
Michiko is now healthy again. She gives each of the Detective Boys a present. Conan is excited, thinking it might be another first edition of Sherlock Holmes. But after opening the wrapping, they are speechless to see that it is the novel written by Michiko. Michiko explains that she finished her novel since she had nothing better to do at the hospital and self-published it. Conan laughs it off since he realizes his hopes were too high.</spoiler>

Ran, Sonoko, and Conan run into their old third grade teacher, Akiko Yonehara, who invites them to spend the night at a Nagano Prefecture mountain villa with her co-workers, who are taking a small weekend trip. A mysterious journalist arrives and tells them that a massacre similar to three years before will happen that night, and true to the man's words, people are attacked with different results. Can Conan help find the clues before too much damage occurs?

Conan is unable to figure out how a piece of rope disappeared, but when he figures out who is wearing something VERY special in his/her person, he realizes that the person has killed two people on the same night. Using Ran to reveal the secret by using his own voice, Shinichi reveals the information to everyone present, but the revelation will shock everyone involved, especially Ran and Sonoko.

<spoiler>The killer is '''Akiko Yonehara''', inspired by the death of little Minako Mochizuki. Minako had found out that Sugiyama and another teacher (Shimoda, but she didn't tell his name to Yonehara) were involved in a fraud, and added that she was planning to confront the unnamed teacher. The poor girl was found hanged in the school gym few days later, and while everyone thought Minako had commited suicide under the effect of stress over the upcoming exams, Yonehara deduced that she had been killed by Sugiyama and his accomplice.

Knowing the identity of only one of Minako's two murderers, Yonehara organized the trip to gather the teachers that she knew Minako was a fan of. She first killed Sugiyama and left his body hidden outside the lodge to freeze ''and'' trick people in regards to the time of his death. Later, she attacked Sonoko to have an alibi, then immediately afterwards pretended to be a victim as well (using Sugiyama's body to such effects, that's the "Yonehara" Sonoko ''actually'' saw before being attacked), and used her lipstick to spell out Minako's name in all of these cases. Shimoda's panicked reaction upon realizing the last detail revealed his involvement to her, so she tricked him into meeting up with her and killed him as well.

The murder weapon was Yonehara's wig: she had cut her hair too short for her liking a while ago and hid it via a very long wig, and then decided to use it to strangle her victims, excluding Sonoko as seen in the picture, without leaving clues. Ran says that there were small bloody scratches on the dead Shimoda's neck, and that there are be some droplets of his blood in the wig.

Once she's uncovered, Yonehara takes off the wig. She admits her responsibility for the crimes and says she couldn't forgive teachers who betray students and injure/kill them, but then she adds she's no one to talk because she harmed Sonoko to make her trick work.

Ran, whose emotional state had slowly taken a nosedive as Conan relayed the deductions to her, gets ready to leave the room, barely reacting to Mouri telling her that he'll write a great article on "her" deductions. She sees Conan standing outside the hall, ready to "tell" her that Shinichi is gone; before he can do so, she falls to her knees and hugs him tearfully. Two hours later the snowstorm stops, and the police arrives.</spoiler>

While riding the Yurikamome Line towards Wangan Island, Kogoro and Conan witness a man sitting next to them getting shot through the arm from the window. After stopping the bleeding with a scarf borrowed from another passenger, they order the train to stop and explain the situation to a station employee through a phone call. After staff arrived, Kogoro and Conan run towards the place where the culprit could have shot from and ask the staff to call the police. By looking around the surroundings, Conan figures out the shooter must have been posted in a particular apartment building and he convinces Kogoro to go with him there. At the MPD, Megure sends Takagi to the crime location.

From the height of the wound of the victim, Conan deduces the shot must have been made from room 505, but upon investigating the unlocked and empty apartment, they conclude there is not enough evidence to prove the culprit was there. Meanwhile, there are spied upon by a mysterious black figure. Before leaving, Conan uses Kogoro's voice to call Takagi and have him search the apartment more thoroughly with a forensics team. Outside the building, the duo notice a path of blood stains, but Kogoro doesn't find any relation between the attempted murder and the path. He receives a call from Takagi who says that the victim, Daisuke Maruta is in a safe condition and that he didn't seem to have any reason to justify the shot made against him. The police detective also adds that after investigating the apartment, he found from a positive luminol reaction traces of blood in the room and that the bullet found was one from a small handgun, meaning that sniping someone using it would have been excruciatingly difficult, given the distance. Through a hint from Conan, Takagi and Kogoro figure out that Maruta must have been shot by accident. The culprit first shot someone else at a close range inside the apartment, and the bullet pierced the body and reached Maruta by accident. This would explain the blood in the apartment.

Kogoro then understands that the blood path must have been from the culprit carrying the corpse away, since nobody was found inside the apartment. While following the path, they notice a peculiar smell, which leads them towards a car. Inside it was a bound woman. While looking around the car, they see traces of an oil leak and an empty gas tank on the asphalt, and Conan figures out that the culprit wants to make the car explode. From a side building, the mysterious man ignites the trail of gas, and Conan and Kogoro barely manage to free the woman from the car before it explodes.

Since there seemed to be no reason for her to be kidnapped, the duo conclude that she was used as a bait to lure Conan and Kogoro towards her and buy the culprit some time, the same one who shot Maruta. From their reflections, it seemed that someone carrying a large object would be easily noticeable, and that the only safe place for them to carry the body around would the the Toto Market, where people come and go with substantial merchandise.

The group consisting of Kogoro, Conan and Takagi later arrive at the fish market. A police officer already stationed there informs them of something having happened in the parking lot. There, they find a wholesaler who has been assaulted probably by the same man they are pursuing, since he says that he was attacked from behind after noticing a large bag, most likely containing the body. Since his clothes and his [[wikipedia:Forklift|turret truck]] were stolen, the group deduces that the culprit used them to blend in with the wholesalers. Detective Chiba then calls them from MPD and informs them that he has gathered information regarding the resident of apartment 505. The resident is Ichiro Akiyama, a leasing company worker who recently went unemployed, and a suspect in a robbery from four months ago.

From the information obtained, it is most likely that, even though he was cleared since he had an alibi, Akiyama was still involved in the robbery. The gun used was a Tokarev, the same one that was used in Maruta's attempted murder, and Akiyama had recently started a lavish lifestyle, most likely after earning a large amount of money. Since Akiyama was just a company worker, he would have most likely been collaborating with a bank employee to be able to get the information about the convoy's schedules, and Takagi thus asks Chiba to check up on the bank employees that were absent on the day of the robbery. Officers then arrive in the parking lot and inform the group that they have found the turret truck, which presented traces of blood on it. Since the truck was abandoned, the body was most likely disposed in an abandoned place, and Takagi and Conan figure out the only place in the market that would have less people would be the underground warehouse. At the location, they see that the lock had been broken, and decide to go inside to investigate. At the same time, the culprit is standing next to Akiyama's body in the warehouse, and is preparing to open his body with a knife, but is stopped when he hears sounds coming from Takagi and the others. While searching, Takagi looks up the list of absent employees, but is interrupted by Kogoro, who notices sources of light coming from the other direction.

=== Situation ===
In a skyscraper in Manhattan, an auction house presents the stand-out piece of the night's auction: one of the famous 'Sunflower' paintings by [[Wikipedia: Vincent van Gogh|Vincent Van Gogh]].
The painting belongs to a series painted by Van Gogh, an artist beloved by Japan, in his house in Arles in the south of France. Until recently, art historians believed there were seven sunflower paintings but only a year ago, an unknown eighth painting was discovered in Arles, with the style and colours being an exact match for the second Sunflower painting that was once kept in Ashiya, Japan. Historians have examined this new painting and concluded that it must have been painted by Van Gogh himself or, at least, by someone working with him. The second Sunflower painting used to belong to Koyata Yamamoto, a businessman, but was thought to have been destroyed in World War II, so the current theory is that this newly discovered painting could be a reproduction of the lost one.

The painting draws considerable interest and at the subsequent auction, [[Jirokichi Suzuki]] buys it for a record price.

Jirokichi holds a press conference the day after the auction and announces that he plans to collect all seven Sunflower paintings to hold an exhibition in Lake Rock Museum, Shinjuku, a newly constructed museum that belongs to the Suzuki Group. He says the title of the exhibition will be "the sunflowers who longed to return to Japan." He already has made contact with the owners of the other six paintings and obtained their permission to get the paintings on loan, having to promise he would transport and preserve the paintings safely and treat them with the utmost care and security while they are in his museum. To help him with this task, Jirokichi presents seven experts that he hired for the exhibition, calling them "the Seven Samurai".
As the experts join him on stage, suddenly a playing card comes flying through the sky and falls onto the stage. The card carries an announcement and Kaito Kid's logo.
Kid appears, holds his card gun out and causes a mass panic. He throws a smoke bomb and flees, but Detective Charlie, one of Jirokichi's "samurai", a security professional, pursues him. Kid is backed into a corner by Charlie, but lets off a flash bomb, breaks the window behind him and jumps off the building, flying away with his hangglider.

The following morning, a plane hired by Jirokichi and painted with the Sunflowers leaves for Japan, carrying the newest painting on board, along with Jirokichi, Sonoko and six of the "samurai" as well as a special guest - none other than: [[Shinichi Kudo]]. But just as the jet descends towards Haneda Airport, a bomb detonates in the cargo hold, blowing the door away and taking the painting with it. The explosion was large enough to destroy the engines as well and the airplane goes into freefall, causing a panic onboard. Kogoro, the 7th Samurai chosen by Jirokichi, has been waiting at Haneda Airport to receive the painting along with the police and Ran, wanting to surprise Sonoko. THey can only watch the plane spinning out of control and Ran, scared for her best friend, panics and can't bear look while the frantic pilot tries to land safely. They do make it down in one piece, but, just after they've touched the ground, received by emergency services, Kaito Kid comes flying out of nowhere with the paining in hand. Conan chases after Kid but can't catch him. Strangely enough, Kid flies off without the painting. Conan finds it, brings it to Jirokichi's Samurai and they confirm that the painting hasn't been damaged.

Several days later, Jirokichi invites the Seven Samurai to a conference to plan what counter-measures they can take against Kid. The owners of the other paintings had also become reluctant in loaning him their paintings. That morning, Conan, Agasa, and the Detective Boys head to the Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Museum of Art, to see the 5th painting. Just after Conan leaves, Kogoro receives another notice from Kid. The Samurai decode it and find that the notice states that he will steal the 5th painting tonight. Conan, Haibara, and the others are viewing the 5th painting together with an old woman named Umeno, said to visit and view the painting every day, when Jirokichi, Kogoro, Inspector Nakamori, and the others arrive. Conan quickly realizes a case is unfolding and joins up with them. They decide that they should move the painting to a safe place before night comes, and the painting is to be wrapped up under the instructions of the Seven Samurai. However, Kid had already infiltrated the staff, and steals the painting.

Jirokichi quickly orders to evacuate the museum goers and staff, to trap Kid inside the museum. However, he seems to have anticipated this turn of events, and blows up the electric room, leaving the museum in a blackout.

To save the last painting in the burning room, [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] and Kid head for the room. Each painting had a safety mechanism so that the paintings would be transported to a safe room but for one of the paintings the mechanism got stuck and was left to burn. Conan and Kid, who is disguised as [[Shinichi Kudo|Shinichi]], are helpless until [[Ran Mouri|Ran]] breaks the wall that had the painting stuck on the wall. The painting comes off and falls through the tunnel in the wall but due to this impact, the roof on top of them starts to collapse, leaving Ran unconscious and start falling down the open wall. Both Conan and Kid falls in as well and they find themselves trapped. Kid gets out of the Shinichi costume and goes to check for another exit as the vault doors are sealed. Kid did all of those things because he realised that the paintings were in danger from someone wanting to destroy them.

Conan calls everyone as Shinichi and starts the deduction show: the traitor/culprit is not Koji Azuma like everyone believes, but rather '''Natsumi Miyadai''', who - in a misguided affection for van Gogh - tried to stop the exhibition or destroy the Ashiya painting, which she perceives as a fake with an unrightful place among the 'real' van Goghs. The proof for her involvement was her suggestion to decorate the gallery walkway with sunflowers, to use them as incendiary material for the fire. Kaitou Kid attempted to work against Miyadai's scheme after she anonymously attempted to hire him to steal the painting. This was also a personal matter for Kid because his confidant and assistant, [[Konosuke Jii|Jii]], had in his youth worked in the mansion where the painting was kept and thought to be destroyed, and where he witnessed Kiyosuke Azuma rescuing it at the cost of his own life (thereby incidentally proving that it is the real painting instead of a replication).

Once Conan finishes his deduction, Kid swoops down with his hang glider to save the falling Conan and unconscious Ran. He successfully catches Ran but misses Conan, who keeps on falling. Kaitou Kid escapes the collapse and leaves Ran in the forest at the lake's shore, where she is found by Kogoro and the others. When she wakes up, nobody knows where Conan is. It suddenly hits her that Conan's still in the building.

In the building, Conan saves himself with the suspenders from hitting the ground. But because the cliff that had the building on top of it collapses and drops underwater, the room fills up with water fast. He tries to push the painting out of the way but cannot move it. At last, the room is filled up and Conan held his breath underwater. He thinks of a way to save himself and the heavy painting when he suddenly remembers the firework ball belt. He uses that as a force to push him and the painting to the surface. He is close to the surface when he runs out of breath and as a last ditch effort, he inflates a second ball to float him to the surface. When he gets to the surface, [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]] retrieves Conan from the water. In the meantime, Inspector Charlie manages to get Kid in his sights, but he has come to realize that Kid, despite his profession as a master thief, is very much an honorable person. Thus, the two opponents part with a new-found respect for each other.</spoiler>

Little is known about Rei Furuya as a PSB detective. Most of his appearances are as the Café Poirot waiter and private eye Tooru Amuro, or as the [[Black Organization]] operative Bourbon.

Rei makes his first appearance as Tooru Amuro when acting as a private investigator. He meets [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] and the Mouris while disguised as a waiter in order to help a client with a case<ref name=f793>[[Volume 75#Private Eye|Volume 75, Files 9-11: "Private Eye"]]</ref>. When Sleeping Kogoro appears to solve a case relating to his client before he can, he claims he wants to learn from [[Kogoro Mouri|Kogoro]]<ref name=f793 />. Rei succeeds in becoming his apprentice by offering him a hefty tuition fee as an incentive <ref name=f793 />. Thus, he begins working at Café Poirot, right under the Mouri Detective Agency, to remain close to Kogoro <ref name=f793 />. Presently, he continues to work under this cover.

Rei additionally suspected that Shuichi was a spy for the FBI<ref name=824p5/>, which turned out to be the case.

Rei's animosity towards Akai Shuichi appears to stem from the death of Hiromitsu, a fellow spy from the PSB and his childhood friend. At some point in the past, Hiromitsu was found out as a NOC and confronted by Shuichi on top of a rooftop<ref name=954p1 />. During this confrontation, Hiromitsu stole away Shuichi's gun and attempted to commit suicide with it. While Shuichi succeeded in talking him down him temporarily, the sound of Rei's steps coming up the stairs distracted Shuichi, allowing Hiromitsu to commit suicide. And so Shuichi, not knowing that Rei was a fellow NOC, pretended that he had been the one to kill Hiromitsu<ref name=954p1 />.

While Rei is aware that Hiromitsu committed suicide<ref name=954p1 />, he doesn't think it is because of the sound from his steps, believes that Shuichi forced or pressured Hiromitsu into doing it. Thus, he still blames Shuichi for Hiromitsu's death.

Rei has a cheerful personality. He is also generous, bringing a plate of sandwiches for the detective agency bought with his money. In more serious situations, he seems to be patient, keeping calm even while others are abusing him. Although somewhat of a "cool type", he does not hide his emotions and is quite expressive. Like other detectives in ''[[Detective Conan]]'', he enjoys presenting his deductions about cases to others. Kogoro calls him "effeminate".

Rei has a darker side. He is manipulative, tricking others into performing certain actions so he can gather information. He favors using psychological traps and catching his enemies offguard. Rei can also be extremely cruel in the pursuit of goals. He planned to run over and hospitalize an elementary school teacher with his car in order to lure out FBI agents, and he would have allowed a suspect destroy his exonerating evidence in order to test Kogoro. Rei alternates between going out of his way to care about the wellbeing others and ignoring them when it is inconvenient. As Scar Akai, he saved Conan at the [[Detective Boys vs. Robber Group|Teito bank heist]], but neglected to inform Ran and Kogoro later when he noticed that Conan might have been kidnapped by a murderer in [[Detectives' Nocturne]].

[[Gin]] says Bourbon has a secretive personality like [[Vermouth]], and that no one can ever guess what he's up to or what he will do.<ref name=703p3/> [[Vodka]] says that Bourbon hates Shuichi Akai even more than Gin does, presumably because Rei thinks that Akai killed Scotch.<ref name=703p3/> Bourbon believes he is the only person capable of killing Akai.<ref name=703p3/> Gin said that if Bourbon found out Akai was alive, he would surely boast that his suspicion was correct.<ref name=703p3/> Gin and Bourbon probably don't get along and they don't seem to communicate with one another.<ref name=703p3/> 

Despite his darker side he still has a true Japanese true spirit. He shows humanity even toward enemy. For example, in Zero's Tea Time chapter 12, he wanted to make Camel leave to not get into traffic. In chapter 34 he practices with him, and in chapter 44, when cCmel saved chief, he thanked him and prepared a glass of water which impressed Camel. Rei is also a gentleman like Takagi, as stated by his friend Wataru date.

Bourbon's primary mission was to search for the escaped scientist [[Shiho Miyano]], which the [[Central Intelligence Agency|CIA]] spy [[Hidemi Hondou|Kir]] heard about and informed the [[Federal Bureau of Investigation|FBI]] of. He also had a second secret mission fueled by his hunch that his archenemy Shuichi Akai should not have died so easily;<ref name=703p3>Manga [[Volume 67]], File 7, page 3: "The Truth Amidst the Snowstorm"</ref> he received the [[The Boss|boss]]' permission to verify Shuichi's death. He approached the FBI as [[Scar Akai|an Shuichi lookalike]] by using [[Vermouth]]'s disguise help hoping to see if Akai was truly dead.<ref name=824p7>Manga [[Volume 78]], File 7 (824), pg 7: "Final Destination"</ref> He later apprenticed himself to [[Kogoro Mouri]] because Bourbon suspected the detective may be connected to Sherry.<ref name=827p16>Manga [[Volume 78]], File 10 (827), pg 16: "The key to solving the mystery"</ref> (Kogoro was previously suspected of being linked to Sherry because the [[Criminal Tracking Glasses|tracker]], [[microphone]], and gum combo Gin found on Kir's shoe after [[Black Impact! Currently, Bourbon thinks Shiho has been killed,<ref name=824p12>Manga [[Volume 78]], File 7 (824), pg 12: "Final Destination"</ref> and had come to believe Shuichi was dead as well until a suspicious man shrouded by smoke threw a grenade by him on the [[Volume_78#Mystery_Train|Mystery Express]].<ref name=824p16>Manga [[Volume 78]], File 7 (824), pg 16: "Final Destination"</ref> The sighting caused Bourbon to second guess himself and request that Vermouth show him the detailed files from before and after Shuichi's death again.<ref name=824p16/> Bourbon has also decided to continue as Kogoro's apprentice because he noticed [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] is the real brains behind "Sleeping Kogoro" and is curious.<ref name=827p16/>

One of the most important missions of Bourbon, however, is implied that he infiltrates and undermines the Black Organization like Kir. Shuichi Akai has revealed that Rei has been persevering to turn in Shuichi to the organization to earn higher ranks to approach more closely to the [[The Boss|boss]].

After the Shinichi Kudo's uproar has been calmed down by the blogger who claims that the Shinichi he saw was an illusion, and [[Heiji Hattori]] who claims that the one they saw was [[Soshi Okita]] instead, [[Rum]] sends an email to Bourbon giving him his [[Search for Maria-chan!|new mission]]; to gather information about [[Shinichi Kudo]], telling him to hurry up stating that "Time is money". Bourbon eventually accepts his new mission.

When Rei was a child he got in fights with other children. When this happened he would get bandaged up by Elena Miyano. It is revealed later that he would consistently pick fights so that he could see her and receive care. At one point she told him that she had to move far away and would not be able to bandage him up again. Because of his affiliation with Elena, he also met Akemi Miyano, Elena's first child, as a kid as well. The extent of their relationship is not yet revealed. As a child Rei had the nickname "Zero". In a chapter in Zero's tea time, Elena seems to be the one who taught him how to ride a bike.

Whether he did this out of concern for the hostages or his own well being is not mentioned.

Despite knowing this, Haibara was not threatened until her adult form was captured on video prior to the mystery train case.

In the above picture at the shrine, when Conan was using [[Hiroshi Agasa|Agasa]] for his deduction, Conan was standing behind Agasa. A disguised Bourbon was standing in front of the crowd, although he may have repositioned himself slightly see Conan speaking behind a wide awake 'Mouthing" Agasa.

He told [[Vermouth]] that Conan is a terrifying man.

During the [[Episode 783|Teacher Assault Case]], Conan indirectly asks Rei if he is undercover in the [[Black Organization]], whispering, "You are an enemy, right? Of the bad guys..." unaware that Rei was wearing a wire at the time, monitored by Vermouth. To throw off suspicion, Rei assures Conan in a very threatening manner that Conan was mistaken. After the Scarlet Showdown, however, Conan approaches Rei in [[Cafe Poirot]] and calls him a liar. Rei returns the favor, the two of them exchanging knowing smiles.

By [[The Heartfelt Strap]], Conan trust Amuro enough that he actually used his Voice Changing Bow Tie in loudspeaker mode, in front of him at a beach.

As of [[The Unsolved Cocktail Case]], when he broke into the Kudo household, so that he can find out information about [[Kudo Shinichi]], as ordered by [[Rum]], and had the altercation with an unmasked [[Akai Shuichi|Akai]], and both of [[Yusaku Kudo|Shinichi's]] [[Yukiko Kudo|parents]] turned on the light, so that the four of them can have a meeting. Currently, it is unknown what was discussed in that meeting, other than Conan planned it.

It seemed to become strained again in the movie: [[Zero the Enforcer]], however that is due to Amuro had his subordinate, [[Yuya Kazami]] of the [[Public Security Bureau|Japanese Secret Police- Public Security Bureau]], plant phony incriminating evidence against [[Kogoro Mouri]] for a bombing incident.

Conan even placed a bug on Kazami, and that bug was forcefully removed in front of him by Amuro.
It really appeared that Amuro was being a real thorn to Conan in that movie, although that was not Amuro's real intention at all.

That explosion could have been classified as an accident, which would have been impossible for the Public Security Bureau to investigate, so Amuro decided to give them a suspect. By involving Kogoro, he knew that Conan would begin investigating the explosion, which even he, himself would have a hard time investigating it himself, since he is a Black Organization Implant from the Japanese Secret Police Division-Public Security Bureau.

While Kogoro was still having legal problems, Amuro had Kazami get in contact with one of their lawyer collaborators for her to defend Kogoro, and get him off, not knowing that she hates the Public Security Bureau with a passion, and chose to betray them. In short, if the real culprit of the bombing was not found, Kogoro was not going to be getting off at all.

After a lot more appliances are going haywire, Conan came up with the fact that it is a IOT Terrorist Attack, and he even discovered the Culprit. Around this time, the Public Security Bureau allowed evidence to reach their prosecuter, that Mouri's computer may have been hacked, and he was released. (Considering the prosecuter knew it was planted in the first place, but they needed a suspect, however they also wanted to protect their suspect, which is why he was removed from the police station, and they chose to prosecute him almost as soon as he was arrested, so that they could move him to probably a more secure location.) Since they now know it is a terrorist attack, they no longer needed a phony suspect, so he was released from custody.

After Conan began his trek to meet up with the culprit, Amuro began following him, and they had a short talk, before Conan told him that he was on his way to meet the suspect.

Conan began skateboarding, followed by Amuro in his car. However, there was another IOT Terrorist attack, which affected cars and vehicles, which Amuro was caught up in. After his car did a stunt and stopped, he told Conan to continue on ahead.

However, in that movie, they both were each other's collaborators or cooperators at different times.
Amuro was Conan's when it came stopping a space shuttle thing heading back to the planet from crashing into where the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters, and later, where everyone was really being evacuated to.

At the end of the movie, he explained the reason that they framed Kogoro, and everything else, but the framing was so that Conan can do what he was unable to do, which is to investigate. This way, he was able to use Conan as a Collaborator, and to rely on his true strength.

Although Conan stated, "You overestimate me, " it sound like their relationship is back on a positive note, before they headed opposite ways.

Kogoro is alternatively flattered by Rei's praise and annoyed with his effusive personality. Overall Kogoro tends to treat Rei flippantly despite being paid a handsome sum for the apprenticeship. When among members of the Black Organization, Rei doesn't speak too badly of Kogoro despite Kogoro's obvious incompetence. Rei is becoming more skilled at herding Kogoro through cases without having the older man realize that Rei is a far superior detective and is manipulating him for information.

Shuichi always shows respect towards Rei, he admits Rei's capability and feels interest everytime he faces Rei, he also makes Rei feel quite confused sometimes. Their relationship is becoming more bitter and dramatic when Rei misunderstood Shuichi killed his best friend - [[Scotch]], but actually the one who indirectly caused Scotch to die was Rei himself. Shuichi chooses to keep a secret, continues to let Rei misunderstand him instead of letting Rei know that painful truth. Over time, Shuichi appears to help and protect Rei in some cases, he gradually wants to compensate for the losses which Rei has experienced, he also reveals that he doesn't want to be Rei's enemy. For now, Rei is temporarily lowering his hatred to working well with Shuichi and Conan in destroying the Black Organization.

[[Vermouth]] and Bourbon keep close contact with one another, and seem to be closer to one another than, say, Bourbon and Gin. Bourbon specializes in intelligence gathering, so he likely belongs to the same [[Black_Organization#Organization_structure_and_divisions|reconnaissance division of the Black Organization]] as Vermouth. While it is still uncertain whether Bourbon is working directly under Vermouth, she seems to keep track of his actions during his missions at times,<ref>[[Detectives' Nocturne]]</ref> and he also often informs her about his discoveries or his future plans.<ref>[[Volume 78|File 818]] (Bourbon was said to have told Vermouth about Sherry's video); [[Volume 78|File 827]] (Bourbon tells Vermouth that he is now interested in "Sleeping Kogoro")</ref> Vermouth helped Bourbon create a [[Scar Akai|disguise]] that looked like Akai so he can investigate his enemy's death. Later, she somehow helped him approach [[Kogoro]] because he suspected that the detective was in contact with [[Sherry]]. Bourbon made a promise to Vermouth not let any harm comes to Conan and Ran no matter what happens, and she calls to ask him if he will be upholding it after the car chase in [[Detectives' Nocturne]]. 

The two have shown to be working together, not unlike Gin and Vodka, though the bond and trust between them are somewhat lacking. In addition to Bourbon's promise to Vermouth, he is also aware of her secret relationship to the boss, as noted at the end of the Scarlet Showdown. Bourbon utilizes this information to enlist Vermouth's assistance in his investigations, arranging for her secret to be released to the other members of the Organization if he is killed by her.

He attempted to capture the person he thought was alive instead of trying to kill her, regretting he might have to resort to violence to do so. Rei says he had met Elena and Atsushi Miyano while they were alive. Rei does not know Shiho is [[Ai Haibara|Ai]]. During a car chase in [[Detectives' Nocturne‎]], Shiho gets a strong feeling that member of the Black Organization was behind her, but she doesn't seem to pinpoint it to Rei's pursuing [[Vehicles in Detective Conan#Mazda RX-7 2|Mazda FD RX-7]].

Rei first saw [[Masumi Sera|Masumi]] at a train station four years ago. He approached Hiromitsu (under the aliases Scotch) while he was teaching Masumi several notes on a bass guitar. It is unknown whether he saw that she was connected to Shuichi at that time.

Much later when [[Detectives' Nocturne|Conan gets kidnapped]] by a murderer they cross each-other's paths again. After both of them save Conan, he becomes very surprised to see her and wonders why she is there and presumably notices that she looks similar to Shuichi Akai. The next day Rei takes the day off from his job at Poirot cafe. In order to confirm his theory, Rei once again disguises himself as [[Scar Akai]] in order to gauge her reaction. Suddenly, Masumi sees him in the crowd ahead and just like Jodie and Camel, Masumi becomes just as shocked by his appearance. She runs after him, but he disappears before she can catch him. Ran wonders who Masumi was chasing, but Masumi replies she thought it was someone she knew. Masumi silently appends in her mind that it would be impossible for the man she was chasing to be the person she thinks it was. While Rei watches her from a little ahead, confirming his suspicion that Masumi is related to Akai.

During [[The Unfriendly Girls Band]], Masumi recalls a time that she saw her brother in a train station four years ago with Hiromitsu (under the aliases Scotch), who taught her the basics of a bass guitar. Masumi believes that the man who approached them at that time wearing a hat that hid his face must have been Rei. However, each time she asks him if they have met before, he avoids the question. When she announces aloud that her brother's name is [[Shuichi Akai]], Rei inwardly comments that her brother had killed Scotch.

Despite his hatred toward Akai, it doesn't seem like he is letting it cloud his judgment toward Masumi.

Gin has revealed that Bourbon is as secretive as Vermouth. Bourbon has shown a friendly relationship with Vermouth but not with other members so far. Bourbon even hid some details from Conan. It is possible that Bourbon, as well as Kir, is a member who doesn't like the Organization. Date himself revealed that Bourbon was the best man at the police academy, and that Bourbon was a gentleman like Takagi, too. Besides, at the end of Takagi's Kidnapping Case, Bourbon refers to Date as "my friend", which means he had no option but to cut all means of contact with him for his own safety.

Conan, Ran and Kogoro are at the party venue hosted by Kogoro's client, Shuji Sasano, the second president of Sasano Finance. Sasano had received a death threat. Apparently, the three guests who came to the venue had a grudge against the president. Later, Sasano collapses after drinking a glass of wine. He was poisoned.

Kogoro and Kobayakawa then show the suspicious movements of the guests caught by the surveillance cameras installed. Suddenly, Kobayakawa reveals that he is the real Shuji Sasano, and it turns out that the one murdered is Kobayakawa.

<spoiler> It is revealed that '''Shuji Sasano''' is the culprit. There is actually no poison in the wine, and Kobayakawa was acting. The poison is from the water Sasano gave Kobayakawa after he collapsed. Sasano also gets rid of the glass containing poisonous water by dropping it above the glass containing wine. The motive is to shut him up about the accident that caused the death of the first president, which was planned by both Sasano and Kobayakawa. Unfortunately, one of the guests, Akira Enoshima, is a doctor, who may see through the act. Sasano sent a fake urgent message to Enoshima so that he would move away from the scene. The evidence is the undeleted message on Sasano's phone.</spoiler>
