The Detective Boys, also known as The Junior Detective League in the English Funimation adaption, are the pre-adolescent detectives with whom Conan solves the occasional crimes in which he and his Teitan Elementary classmates stumble into.
History
The Detective Boys were informally founded when Ayumi Yoshida and Genta Kojima decided to investigate a mansion which was once a murder site and had been abandoned. Conan and his classmate Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya were drafted into accompanying the two, and the foursome entered the house. In the course of this adventure, Conan found out that the house was still inhabited by the mother and son of the murder victim; the son had killed his father in a fit of rage over his abusive behavior, and his mother had subsequently locked her own son in a dungeon beneath the house to wait until the deed's time-bar had passed. After Conan succeeded in exposing the two, they were arrested and the case was resolved.

In time, the four kept stumbling into more and more criminal cases, which were resolved thanks to Conan's deductive skills and initiative. Particularly after the case involving a sizable cache of stolen Italian gold coins, Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko developed a taste for detective work and impulsively decided to become investigators themselves, mostly for fame and glory. After advertising their services in school, they have become actively involved in many criminal cases provided by their schoolmates, though more often than not they keep accidentally coming upon such during their free-time activities. Some time later, their new classmate (and former Black Organization member) Ai Haibara was drafted into the group. Two adults also joined this group informally, namely Professor Hiroshi Agasa, who provides the group with special gadgets to aid them in their adventures, and their class teacher Sumiko Kobayashi, a mystery novel enthusiast who proclaimed herself their manager.

In most cases, the Detective Boys act more like aides to Conan, who is the group's (mostly undisputed) leader due to his intelligence, extensive criminal knowledge and experience. In this role they function mostly as additional pairs of eyes who provide Conan with trivial-seeming but important clues, and display little investigative brilliance or determination of their own. As the series progresses, however, the other members, particularly Ai and Mitsuhiko, have demonstrated in some cases - especially where Conan is not present or out of commission - that the Detective Boys have the potential of becoming skilled investigators in their own right. Famous cases of such include:

*Episode 225: The Secret of the High Sales (TV Original)

Movie:
*Movie 13: The Raven Chaser
*Lupin III vs. Detective Conan: The Movie

OVA:
*OVA 07: A Challenge from Agasa! Agasa vs. Conan and the Detective Boys
*OVA 11: A Secret Order From London

Note: Caution must be advised for OVAs, Movies and TV Originals, as these are essentially non-canonical with the Manga series and therefore not 100% diagnostically conclusive.
Family & Friends
Hiroshi Agasa
The Detective Boys love Professor Agasa very much and they have a good familial relationship with each other. Professor Agasa has invented the 'Wristwatch Flashlight' and the 'Detective Boys Badge' to help them in their deductions and to contact each other in any situation that might come up.

Agasa, in turn, seems to consider the actual children of the group as surrogate grandchildren, and is willing to help them with various cases.

Sumiko Kobayashi
Sumiko Kobayashi is the current teacher of the class that the Detective Boys are in. She also proclaims herself to be their manager, much to the children's chagrin.
* In an interview, Gosho Aoyama stated that the purpose of the Detective Boys was to act as a cover for Haibara.
Chianti is a Black Organization sniper in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan.

Background
Chianti is a Black Organization sniper. She is skilled with rifles, and Haibara explains that she and Korn are excellent snipers. However she is not quite a match for FBI agent Shuichi Akai: he is indeed able to fire precisely even at 700 yards, whereas her maximal fire range is 600 yards. Her partner is Korn, and the two are often seen together on missions, just as Gin and Vodka are usually seen together. It is implied that she had some sort of relationship with the deceased member, Calvados, whose death she blames Vermouth for.
clear

Appearance
Chianti usually dresses in black leather suits with a collar. Her left eyelid bears the tattoo of a swallowtail butterfly's wing.

Personality
Chianti is a wild, ruthless assassin who enjoys killing. She is also very impatient, even refusing to stop her car when asked by a construction worker. Gin has cautioned her not to shoot at innocent targets out of boredom.

Plot overview
Anime/Manga
Black Impact
Chianti appears for the first time at a shooting stand belonging to the Black Organization, training for the planned murder of Yasutero Domon. Later, she is present when Gin discusses the time and place of this murder with Kir. Even if she is supposed to participate in the two attempted murders of the mission (against Yasutero Domon, then against Kogoro Mouri), and is, each time, seen waiting for Gin's order to shoot, she never gets the opportunity to fire until Shuichi Akai appears, which leads her to complain about having to move for nothing.

The Shadow of the Black Organization
Chianti is seen with Korn, driving her car, and talking to Gin through her radio. She mentions Kir's capture and entry in the Organization.

Clash of Red and Black
The Crisis Beckoned by the Red Omen
Movies
Movie 13: The Raven Chaser
Chianti and Korn are charged by Gin to burst the tires of Takagi's car, and immediately leaves once the task has been executed. At the end of the movie, they assist Gin against Irish and Conan: Chianti fires at Irish and is responsible for his death. She then tries to eliminate Conan, but fails.

Relationships analysis
Black Organization
Korn
Korn is Chianti's partner and they are usually seen together. They seem to get along well enough; Chianti confides to Korn that she would like to kill Vermouth because she led Calvados to his death. She may also allow him to take the best part of a mission to please him (that is to say, targeting the head of the victim), in spite of her strong desire to kill by herself. They are not dating.

Vermouth
Vermouth and Chianti are enemies. Chianti hates Vermouth for taking advantage of Calvados' love and getting him killed. Vermouth sometimes taunts Chianti, who does not take it well.

Different looks
Trivia
* Chianti and Korn's car is a blue Dodge Viper with two white stripes.
* Gosho Aoyama originally designed Chianti's swallowtail tattoo so it would "fly" when a shot is fired. However, he later scrapped that when he found out that snipers don't close their eyes when firing.

The series was created and is drawn by Gosho Aoyama. The protagonists from his earlier series Magic Kaito look very similar: Kaitou Kid has made a number of appearances as himself in the anime and manga of the series. The main protagonist of the Detective Conan series, Shinichi Kudo, and the protagonist of the Magic Kaito series, Kaito Kuroba are also similar. Hundreds of minor characters have been created and are always given backgrounds, motives, and personalities that put them under suspicion during the investigation.

The English adaption dubbed by Funimation, called Case Closed, has different names than the one in the manga published by Viz Media.

Protagonists
