Situation
Part 1
The Tokyo Bell Tree Tower of the Suzuki Conglomerate is attracting public attention once again due to its latest expansion, the exhibition room in the sky; along with Kaitou Kid’s newest target, the Azure Throne.

}}

At night, inside the building, Jirokichi quotes from his newest collaborator that the reason Kid often strikes when the skies are clear is because of his outfit being susceptible to humidity, which leads him to have Kichida Manufacturing build this new exhibition room. He then shows both Conan and Nakamori the security installed outside the room:

* The wall facing toward the camera has its three horizontal color lines changed randomly, but their color patterns are always synchronized with one from the security room monitor frame.
* The corridor before entering the exhibition room has some very powerful humidifiers installed on.

Then, the exhibition room is going to have its final check before Jirokichi’s next encounter with Kid. However, just as when they finish their testing, the power is suddenly cut. Conan notices an abnormality in the camera footage, and rushes to the exhibition room. This scares off Satsuki Kichida as she is looking for a police to help address the strange message from her husband, who is also the president of Kichida Manufacturing, Yotaro. Strangely enough, Yotaro’s secretary Kyuuya Kamiji also receives a strange message from him, both say: “I will protect the jewel with my life”.

However, when Conan enters the room, he sees the terrified Kaitou Kid looking at Yotaro’s body with a gunshot wound on his head.

At that moment, Saguru Hakuba orders the exhibition room to close to make sure no one leaves when he, Nakamori, and Jirokichi march toward the room with several Riot Police officers. Kid is still panicked about the murder scene, and asks Conan to prove his innocence. Conan agrees under one condition: Kaitou Kid will have to disguise as Shinichi and act following what Conan said to, which includes not letting Ran figure out that he was the fake one.

After Hakuba's group arrives and are shocked to see Shinichi Kudo instead of Kaito Kid, all of the high school detectives find three suspicious details:

# The bloodstain and a bullet hole left on the right of the entrance (based on Hakuba’s point of view).
# There is something stuck to both sides of the body’s toe.
# The blood splatter on the curtains to the right of the body.

Part 2
In the interrogation process:
* Masuo Kase, technical director of Kichida Manufacturing, recalls that Yotaro told him he needed time to check something in the room after they finished the testing. Kase also notes others about the rumor that Yotaro and his wife were fighting.
* Kamiji was a firefighter 10 years ago, but quit after breaking a bone from falling off a ladder. The reason he became Yotaro’s secretary is because he was the one to explain about fire prevention equipment during Yotaro’s visit to the fire department.
* Satsuki was sitting on her husband’s chair waiting for his return when she received that strange message from him. When Nakamori informs her about the rumor given by Kase, she clarifies that the one who often argues with her husband is actually Kase.

Takagi and Megure finally make it to the scene due to heavy traffic. But not long after they arrive, they will have to go back to the police station with the culprit because both Conan and Hakuba figure out the truth after hearing the forensic report.
Resolution
<spoiler>
Kaitou Kid’s original plan
If the crime of murder had not been carried out, then Kaitou Kid’s heist would have been carried out in this specific order:

* Firstly, he had hidden in a fake fire hydrant installed in the corridor that blends in with the contractors.
* Next, had the people from Kichida finished their testing would he appear and install a Lubor’s lens in front of the camera, deceiving everyone supervising the room via the camera that everything is normal.
This is when we assume if no murder occurred:
* Kid would have taken advantage from the time everyone was deceived to steal the Azure Throne, and blended in with the riot officers who charged in and fled from the exhibition room.

How the murder was carried out
Hakuba predicted Kid’s movement, and so does the culprit. The culprit thought that if Kid was not seen entering the camera, then no one would find it odd if president Kichida was not seen returning to the exhibition room, implying that the president was killed before Kid entered the room. Kase recounts that Yotaro has exited the room after he finished his own checking. Hakuba defies this conclusion by explaining how has the culprit killed the president while got out of the room as the president:

Once the check was completed and Yotaro almost left the room, the culprit probably told him that something was wrong with the lower right wall, and took the chance to send him to heaven.
Since everyone was wearing protective gear, Kase mistook the culprit with Yotaro, and let the president inside the room alone, creating an opportunity for them to set up the crime scene that we saw at part 1.

Shinichi joins in when Kamiji says that the culprit could not be identified based on the footage. He points out that Yotaro’s kind of arm crossing is different from the kind of arm crossing that we saw from his impostor, Kyuuya Kamiji. Shinichi adds in: Kamiji stole Yotaro’s phone and took advantage of the power cut to run away from other staff, leave the phone in the hallway after sending the fake messages, remove the disguise, and run to the security room as if he had just received the message from the victim.

Both Hakuba and Shinichi will perform the fireman’s carry, method used by Kamiji to carry the body:

# While they are lying on their back, lift their knees.
# Step on their toes to hold their feet in place.
# Grab both hands and pull them toward you, then duck under.

This explains why there was blood on the curtain and the floor near the throne, which means that the blood also fell onto Kamiji’s shoe.

Aftermath
Hakuba knew that Shinichi was actually Kid, and intended to use the fireman's carry to bring Kid to the police station, but failed because Kid had already handcuffed both Hakuba's legs. Ran has also known about this because Kid mentioned one wrong detail from the time she answered Shinichi's confession. After the thief leaves and she is left angered as Kid could say those words under the disguise of Shinichi, Hakuba explains that those words were of Shinichi, making Conan afraid that his secret identity is revealed. However, Hakuba simply tells that Conan called Shinichi to help solve the murder after being asked by the panicked Kid to prove his innocence.
Situation
Tottori Tour
Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are in the Limited Express “Super Hakuto” that leads them to Tottori Prefecture, as they will be taking a bus to arrive at the Misasa Onsen. On the way to the Yumemiya Ryokan, their resting place for the tour, they see Yasuto Utsubuki and Sachiyo Yumemiya talking about Yasuto’s father and Sachiyo’s aunt not allowing the two to be married. Seconds later, Kazuko Yumemiya and Hisao Utsubuki show up and do what the couple just told about earlier.

In the Yumemiya Ryokan, the Mouris are welcomed by Teruki, Kazuko’s son, and a waitress named Yoshimi Komori. As Komori introduces to Ran and Conan about Yumezakura, a kimono that the waitresses walking behind Komori is going to wear for her wedding, the two instantly realize the woman behind as the one they met earlier. Kogoro also meets two Kurayoshi officers that the family has met in a past case, Katsuhiko Yamane and Ryo Okamoto. The two show their gratitude toward Kogoro for helping, and express their joyfulness of capturing the serial bag-snatcher one week ago, which is why they are here.

In the dinner, Kogoro is drinking with Okamoto and Yamane as he tells the two detectives how he solved cases as Sleeping Kogoro, while Conan and Ran enjoy the dinner at another table when Conan receives the drink he orders from Sachiyo. The two ask her about the problem Sachiyo has, she explains that Kazuko once got into a property dispute with Hisao Utsubuki. Suddenly, Komori accidentally spills some kind of sauce on Conan's costume, so she has to take Conan to change the costume. From there, Conan realizes that some people have issues with Kazuko with their own matters:
*According to Kazuko Yumemiya, Yoshimi Komori’s carelessness is damaging the reputation of the inn.
*Kazuko also denies a loan for Masamichi Kasuga, even though his company is facing financial difficulties.
*Kazuko roasts his son for being in debt because of a girl from Osaka whom he spent money on.
*Kazuko tells Sachiyo that she never wants to keep the ryokan on her own, and she wants Sachiyo to marry a dependable man instead of Yasuto.

Before the dawn of the next day, Teruki wakes Kogoro up, as Sachiyo has disappeared for some reason. As the two Kurayoshi officers are awaked from the sound, the two would request back up from the Misasa police box. Next morning, Kasuga tries to ask Yasuto if his niece was there or not, which Yasuto answers no, while he mumbles that Sachiyo actually did something. There are some possible suspects beside people in the inn, and Yasuto:
*The first person is Toshihiro Kitami, a photographer brought by Okamoto, Yamane, and a Misasa officer. The reason he became the suspect is that Sachiyo appears in some pictures he had taken yesterday when he was taking pictures of frogs in the Misasa.
*A second possibility is Sachiyo’s close friends who are members of Tottori Arts and Culture Association.
So Ran and Conan go to the Yonago City Center to ask the tour guide, while Okamoto and Yamane go to Mount Daisen to ask the mountain guide, and Kogoro goes to find the sand sculptor (he is also seen in the Tottori Sand Dunes, where he used to tie up Conan and throw him down because of a sudden burst of inspiration).

The investigation by the five people seems to yield no results, so they decide to interrogate Yasuto once again to see if he knew anything about the disappearance. This time, he admits that Sachiyo has temporarily taken refuge in the warehouse of the Misasa Violin Museum in the hope that her parents would understand the genuine feelings between her and Yasuto. However, Sachiyo is nowhere to be found there; instead, she has become the victim of an actual kidnapping for ransom. Kasuga recalls that a waitress noticed a black car parked near the mountains yesterday evening, meaning there could be a high chance that the people in the car were the kidnappers.

Misasa Arc
Yasuto points out that Sachiyo has never blamed anyone else for the unfortunate events that happened to her. Conan happens to pass by three waitresses, including Komori, discussing that no one has ever seen a car like what Kasuga told. The two things raise doubt if Sachiyo was really kidnapped or not, so Conan goes to some location for information, with Ran and Yasuto tagging along:
*On the road Sachiyo went after escaping the warehouse, there are two separate paths, one of them leads to Misasa Onsen.
*Conan sees the photographer again in the Kajika bridge when the three arrive at the hot spring through his telescopic lens. The three reach out to Kitami, and know that Sachiyo was trying to cross the river.
*The side she went to leads to Yumemiya’s parking lot, which has one black car with sand on it.
Meanwhile, the inn receives a third message from the kidnapper. It seems like Kazuko is cornered when she agrees to pay the ransom to rescue Sachiyo, since she had promised her sister that she would take good care of Sachiyo. Suddenly, Conan notices something from the word "wave".
Resolution
<spoiler>
There are some words that Sachiyo repeated on each video, combining these repeated words to form the name of the location she has been kept, Hakuto beach. At sunset on Hakuto Beach, a suspicious person is seen calling someone, revealing to the audience that the money has not been deposited, causing the ransom kidnapping to fail. With no other options left, the person tells the accomplice to run, while they kill Sachiyo to cover up the evidence. However, everyone in the inn has reached the location in time, and reveals the identity of the suspicious person, Masamichi Kasuga.

At first, Kogoro is unable to find evidence to prove that Kasuga committed the crime, but it creates an opportunity for an absolute top-notch rescue led by Yasuto and followed by the two Kurayoshi officers. Sachiyo tells something with his uncle, only by then does Kogoro figure out the main points:

*Kogoro deduces that Sachiyo read the letter and followed its instruction, not knowing that Kasuga changed his plan and went out with a black car to kidnap Sachiyo for ransom.
*Kogoro thinks that Sachiyo happened to see the location when she was thrown to the back of the car before it gets closed, which explains why she was able to inform about the location.

}}

And with concrete proof from Kasuga’s car and information from the Tokyo police about his accomplice’s arrest, he admits the crime. But before Kogoro can celebrate with Okamoto and Yamane, Conan tranquilizes him and reveals his deduction as the Sleeping Kogoro that Kasuga committed the kidnapping under the influence of Yoshimi Kimori, who wants to take revenge by putting Yumemiya ryokan out of business. She has lost everything when her parents were dragged into the property dispute that Kazuko mentioned. In a desperate attempt, she tries to kill Sachiyo by taking both into the ocean while holding her knife.

Aftermath
Having felt the sincerity between Yasuto and Sachiyo, Kazuko and Hisao forbid them to marry someone else instead. Outside, Ran is hanging a board that includes her wish to be at the Yumemiya ryokan together, with Conan secretly smiling as the wish has already become true.
</spoiler>

Trivia
* This is the last episode to feature Wakana Yamazaki as the voice of Ran Mouri, before she went on hiatus from voice acting due to health reasons and her later passing
* Although the English Crunchyroll subbed version of the case is named "The Lover Who Vanished on Pont Koitani", the bridge itself is not officially named "Pont Koitani" in English. Instead, local tourism sites have been using "Koitani Bridge" as an English translation. The word "pont" in the English title is a French word meaning "bridge", and its use may be linked to the fact that when French ambassador to Japan Bernard Dorin came to the valley of the Misasa River in Misasa in 1987, he nicknamed the place the "Vallée de l'Amour" (lit. Valley of Love). The bridge's Japanese name reflects this: "Koitani" translates to "Love (恋) Valley (谷)."
* The previous Mystery Tour to have aired in Tottori Prefecture, Tottori Sand Dunes Mystery Tour, in 2015, is directly referenced in the episode. Not only the two anime-original detectives from that reappeared, but they referenced the Kumado family ransom case from that Mystery Tour.
* Starting Episode 1191, the door eyecatch for title card has been revised with a tilted camera movement.
* The Utsubukis (宇津吹) are named after Mount Utsubuki (打吹山), an important mountain in neighboring Kurayoshi City.
Part 1
The Tokyo Bell Tree Tower of the Suzuki Conglomerate is attracting public attention once again due to its latest expansion, the exhibition room in the sky; along with Kaitou Kid’s newest target, the Azure Throne.

}}

Resolution
<spoiler>

Shinichi joins in when Kajimi says that the culprit could not be identified based on the footage. He points out that Yotaro’s kind of arm crossing is different from the kind of arm crossing that we saw from his impostor, Kyuuya Kajimi. Shinichi adds in: Kajimi stole Yotaro’s phone and took advantage of the power cut to run away from other staff, leave the phone in the hallway after sending the fake messages, remove the disguise, and run to the security room as if he had just received the message from the victim.

Both Hakuba and Shinichi will perform the fireman’s carry, method used by Kajimi to carry the body:

# While they are lying on their back, lift their knees.
# Step on their toes to hold their feet in place.
# Grab both hands and pull them toward you, then duck under.

This explains why there was blood on the curtain and the floor near the throne, which means that the blood also fell onto Kajimi’s shoe.

Part 1
The Tokyo Bell Tree Tower of the Suzuki Conglomerate is attracting public attention once again due to its latest expansion, the exhibition room in the sky; along with Kaitou Kid’s newest target, the Azure Throne.

}}

Resolution
<spoiler>

Resolution
<spoiler>

Trivia
* This is the last episode to feature Wakana Yamazaki as the voice of Ran Mouri, before she took a medical leave from voice acting and her evetual death.
Public Security Bureau
The is a bureau of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department in charge of public security with jurisdiction over Tokyo metropolis. It is one of the Japanese intelligence agencies featured in Detective Conan, and works closely with the National Police Agency Security Bureau to investigate and undermine the Black Organization.

At some unknown point in the past, the PSB sent Hiromitsu Morofushi to infiltrate the organization, who eventually earned the code-name Scotch. Hiromitsu keeps close contact with Rei Furuya, another undercover detective from the NPA Security Bureau, also earned the code-name Bourbon. However, Hiromitsu's identity as a spy was ultimately found out by the Black Organization. When he was confronted by Shuichi Akai, who was also infiltrating the organization on behalf of the FBI at the same time, Hiromitsu attempted to steal Shuichi's gun to commit suicide and destroy his phone which contains sensitive data, but was stopped as Shuichi revealed his true affiliation to him. However, at that moment, a worried Rei quickly arrived at the scene and Scotch mistook his ally's approaching footsteps for those of a Black Organization member. He then pulled the trigger and shot himself along with the phone. Shuichi, not knowing of Rei's true identity at the time, picked up the gun and made it look like he had killed Hiromitsu himself. Because of this, Rei still blames Shuichi and the FBI for Hiromitsu's death.

So far, it appears that the PSB is one of the few, if not the only bureau in the entire Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department to learn of the Black Organization's existence. The ordinary police force who are dealing with regular crimes don't seem to be aware of the PSB's work or about the Black Organization at all such as when they did not react to Gin and Vodka's presence in the first episode.
Tsutomu Akai is a character in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan. He is Mary Sera's husband and the father of Shuichi Akai, Shukichi Haneda, and Masumi Sera.

Background
Seventeen years ago, Tsutomu Akai was involved in the double murders of Kohji Haneda and Amanda Hughes. He got a call from Yasuharu Haneda (Father of Kohji Haneda) to investigate the murder case of his son as he couldn't trust the local or Japanese police. So he visited America. What happened to him during and after the incident is currently unknown. He was believed to be deceased by his family, though his body was never found. It was his involvement with the murder case that prompted his first son Shuichi to join the FBI in order to investigate what happened to him, and his assumed death led Shuichi to seek vengeance against those responsible.

Before he went missing, Tsutomu sent his wife a message telling her that he had made enemies with "horrible people", asking her to take their children, Shuichi and Shukichi, to Japan, and to think of him as someone who no longer existed. Sometime after his daughter Masumi was born, so both she and her father never got to know each other.

Personality
Appearance
He looks quite similar to his second son, Shukichi, having roughly the same hairstyle and facial design. Unlike Shukichi, he did not appear to shave his facial hair regularly. In Mary's memory, he wore a large jacket, a loose white tie, and a cap which, along with his hair, concealed part of his face.

Abilities
He did jeet kune do, which motivated Shuichi to do it too. He is termed as "Strong" by Mary Sera and Rachel Asaka who are already very strong by themselves.
Plot overview
A Chance Meeting at the Beach (Manga: 974, Anime: 882)
Ten years ago, Mary reminds Shuichi of his father's last words before his death: "Pretend I never existed. I seem to have made some serious enemies". Shuichi reflects that Tsutomu's body still hasn't been found. When Shuichi speaks of being "infected by the disease called curiosity", Mary is immediately reminded of Tsutomu. Shukichi is also reminded of Tsutomu when Mary tells Shuichi to "purge the fog that covers the truth".

Antique Facet Case (Manga: 1037-1038, Anime: 1019-1020)
After having talked to his sister, Shuichi recalls a flashback, where it said that his father was hired/requested by his friend Yasuharu Haneda, Kohji's father, to investigate his son's suspicious death in the United States, but after having found out that his enemy was in fact really powerful, instructed his wife and sons to leave England secretly for Japan, where it could be safer for them and it was at this time that Tsutomu disappeared, seventeen years ago. It's revealed that Tsumotu uses the phrase "It was 50:50 so we're both to blame", which is what Shuichi inherited from and Mary uses as well.

Sisters' Birthday Party Murder Case (Manga: 1048, Anime: 1045-1046)
Beach House Murder Case (Manga: 1099, Anime: 1149)
When Rumi witness Subaru using jeet kune do and his words, causing her recalls of Tsutomu done the similar things seventeen years ago. She feels that Subaru can bring her a sense of secure, just like Tsutomu.

Chess Tournament Murder Case (Manga: 1109, Anime: 1167)
Shuichi tells Conan that his father and Kohji's father are friends. Haneda called Tsutomu, a MI6 secret agent, to ask him for help him investigate his son's death because he couldn't trust the local or Japanese police. Tsutomu agreed to help him because he also wanted to visit Amanda's funeral, who was a friend of him. Tsutomu promised Mary he would return before their new child bornt, but Shuichi didn't expect that to be the last word he heard from his father.

Video Gamer Locked Room Murder Case (Manga: 1150, Anime: TBD)
Relationships analysis
Mary Sera
Mary trust her husband's judgment enough to go into hiding with their children, when he instructed them to.

Shuichi Akai
His father's disappearance drove Shuichi to seek revenge.

Shukichi Haneda
Masumi Sera
Masumi was born after the family moved to Japan, so she never met her father. But a good friend of her father would provide for her. Tsutomu did know he would have the third child and really wanted to meet her.

Rumi Wakasa
As of now, it is unclear what the relationship Tsutomu and Rumi had. During the beach house murder case, where after Subaru fends off a criminal gang and tells her to bring the Detective Boys to safety, she has a flashback of Tsutomu defending her, saying "The monster we are about to witness, is not an opponent a young girl should risk her life against, I alone will be enough". It is left ambiguous what the 'monster' that Tsutomu was referring to is.

Trivia
* His name was first revealed via Shukichi's marriage registration in volume 89. However, at the time, the exact pronunciation of the name was unknown.
* The kanji in his name, 務武, can also be read as "Zumu". This is a possible reference to Zeon "Zum" Deikun, Char Aznable's father.
* According to Gosho Aoyama in JUSTICE PLUS Super Digest Book, he went missing in America.
