As Conan and Ran are waiting for a meeting with Eri, they meet Sera, who is investigating Rumi Kitao's boyfriend, Kenya Settsu, about adultery. Thinking that Kenya will make a move upon seeing Ran, Sera has Conan and Ran approach the couple upon the pretense of needing a meal. However, Kenya doesn't seem to be interested in Ran and asks Ran to accompany Rumi to wake Waka, Kenya's ex-girlfriend. Rumi and Ran has to open Waka's apartment with a key when no one answers. Later, Ran finds Waka on the bathroom floor, but she collapses herself due to chlorofoam in the air.

The culprit is '''Kenya Settsu'''. He killed Waka 30 minutes before Ran came into her room, put a towel around her head and a face mask on her, then spread chloroform in the bathroom. A few days before, he had ensured Rumi had left her fingerprints on a bottle, which appeared to be the bottle containing the chloroform which was found by the police. All this led [[Masumi Sera]] to point Rumi as the culprit (as Kenya had foreseen that): the towel and the face mask would lead Ran to doubt if she really saw Waka, or if it was not rather Rumi who had disguised herself in Waka - then, after Ran had collapsed, she would have really killed Waka and put them in the bathroom as if she had been there from the beginning. But Conan declares that this trick was way too inconsistant; he also notices that Kenya has been shown to have a bad sight (being unable to put objects at the right place, etc), and that it may be due to the disappearing of one of his eyes contacts. This eye contact had actually been lost when he was fighting with Waka, and before passing out, she had collected it and put it on her own eye, before closing it (which explains why she was winking). By opening her closed eye, it could be therefore proved that Kenya was the murderer: his fingerprints would still be on the eye contact.
As for the motive, Kenya had dumped Waka because he was starting to date a rich girl, and Waka threatened Kenya to reveal all his former deeds to this girl.
After the case resolution, [[Eri Kisaki]] declares that, earlier, she has seen Sera calling someone with her phone, a person who, according to the wording she used, would be her brother.

Part of the trunk lock was fake and could be pulled out: Kasuga did not need this trick (for he had an original key) and Taruoka did not put the lock himself but asked Furuya to do so. After having killed Takeki who had seen him open the treasure chest, Furuya placed the corpse in it, but, as this trunk was always filled with fruits to the brim, he had to remove several apples to have enough space. In order to get rid of those apples, Furuya put them in a mixer and drunk the result. Conan pointed that further exams could detect the fruits, which would still be in the culprit's stomach, and Furuya surrendered.
After the resolution of the case, Conan asks [[Masumi Sera]] if they had already met together. She answers, with a mischievous smile, that it may have been mais that it was too early for her to answer.

== Background ==
Not much is known about Irish, except that he had a lot of respect for [[Pisco]]. It is not known if he ever killed anyone, but it is assumed that he had in the past.

== Personality and Skills==

Irish seems quite smart, and endowed with deduction skills: he manages to find out Conan is actually Shinichi relatively quickly, whereas he has only met him once; and he becomes suspicious about Conan only be hearing a few comments from other officers. Besides, the method he uses to verify his theory is accurate and efficient. However, he is far from being as shrewd as Conan in case solving: during the police investigation, he is limited to record the facts without bringing any useful ideas.

He has been shown to be skilled in desguising himself, although his large stature constrains him to play only characters of the body shape; he is also less qualified than Vermouth in this practice. Even though, he manages to remain undiscovered until the end of the movie.

Irish is a capable martial fighter, whose strong body can count on well-mastered battle techniques. He defeats single-handedly six police officers and a security emloyee, although it is very likely he hit them from behind. What's more, he is able to stand up to Ran in a hand-to-hand fight; he even vainquishes her after a balanced confrontation, but his winning strike may have relied on the element of surprise. This does not mean Irish always benefit from advantages during his fights: it has been shown he could defeat a criminal armed with a stun gun, without using weapons himself, and with a single punch. He is as precise when he uses guns as when he fights with his fists - for instance, he disables all of Conan's gadgets by firing at them without hurting him in any way.

Irish shows no hesitation at using lethal and ruthless force. He seems to enjoy challenges, appreciates Ran's karate skills. Confrontations appear to be a real enjoyment for him, almost a game - which is particularly shown when he beats Conan, and then hunts him.

As other Organization members, he has a high pain tolerance, staying conscious after a very bad fall down metal stairs and, above all, after having been shot with a sniper.

His rank in the Organization has not been exposed. But the way the other members act with him would imply he does not benefit from a high position. Gin scolds him like a subordinate, and does not hesitate in giving the order to kill him. He appears to take this decision without deliberating, without fearing any consequences and, above all, without an order from the Boss of the Organization - whereas he needed a direct order to eliminate the executive agent [[Pisco]]. Nevertheless, Irish declares to Conan that he his going to bring him in front of his Boss, which could suggest he is sufficiently high ranked to directly contact him.

== Plot overview ==
Irish disguised as [[Kiyonaga Matsumoto]] to infiltrate the Tokyo Metropolitan police and retrieve a missing data card with informations with the Organization's Non Official Covers. This data card is possessed by the culprit of a large-scale serial murder case. While following the investigation, Irish records informations about Conan, and eventually discovers he is actually Shinichi.

The evolution of the investigation leads all the police inspectors to the [[Wikipedia:Tokyo Tower|Tokyo Tower]]. Knowing that he is going to catch the culprit there, Irish knocks the other detectives out, helps Conan to defeat the criminal, and recovers the data card . But he then has to fight against Conan himself, and against Ran, who was looking for him and finally found him in the tower. After having get ridded of her, he chases Conan until the roof of the tower. At the very moment he manages to takes a decisive advantage over him, he is found by the Organization's helicopter. Gin, recording that he has the data card in his possession, and that his cover has been undisclosed - as Vermouth had signaled him the real superintendant had been found - orders his death. He is shot by Chianti, but is not fatally wounded. Conan then tries to carry him to a safe place, but Gin, noticing this attempt, asks Chianti to fire again.

Irish protects Conan from the sniper's bullet with his own body, a movement that causes his death. His last words are "Shinichi Kudo...keep coming...after us."

Irish admires Pisco and considers him like a father. He is therefore devastated when Pisco is cold-heartedly executed by Gin.

Irish holds a deep grudge against Gin for having killed Pisco, and having left his body turn into ashes. He depicts him as a cold-hearted bastard, searches a way to take him down in the Organization; to do so, he desires to show his Boss the mistake Gin made when he did not kill Shinichi - to provoke his disgrace. This even leads him to act against the Organisation's projects, since he does not reveal to anyone Shinichi's true identity.
Besides, Irish's enmity is mutual. Gin talks to him with despise, scolds him, and exhorts him to do correctly the job he has been assigned. This job is the only reason Gin even speaks to him; after having seen this job has been done, he immediately orders his death.

Even though their relationship is unknown, and that they probably don't really know each others, Vermouth is the only member to show some sympathy, or respect, from Irish. At least, that is what is implied when she reveals his codename to Conan, before adding that Irish whiskey is nicely distilled, with a mild taste. Furthermore, and the end of the movie, Irish refers to Vermouth's opinion about Conan; this detail may indicate that they have already talked together.

Chianti does not hesitate a single second to execute Irish, whereas he is, like her, a member of the Organization. She even displays a sadistic smile after having shot him down with her sniper.

Korn is usually silent, but when Chianti fires at Irish, he declares that he would have liked to shoot. This suggests he does not really care about this member's life.

==== [[Vodka]] ====
After Gin has given the order to kill Irish, Vodka is the only one to have a word of protestation. But he it probably because he fears some consequences from the Organization's headquarters, since he keeps quiet after that.

==== [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]] ====
Irish and Conan are opponents, and he even displays some crualty while beating and hunting him. However, he ends up using his own body to protect his life from Chianti's sniper. His last words, which exhort Conan to keep chasing the organisation, suggest that he eventually gained his confidence. Beside Vermouth, he is the only non-undercover member of the Organization to have shown respect for him.
As for Conan, he tries to carry Irish's body out of Chianti's fire range, and tells him he is going to give him medical treatments. But this is probably because he wants him to give informations about his Boss' location; and also because Conan always does his best to save a life.

== Background ==
Jugo is the younger brother of [[Sango Yokomizo]], who is also an inspector from Kanagawa police district. Both started their police career in Saitama, but some time later Sango transferred to the Shizuoka district. However, they do stay in touch and have even assisted each other in various (and even locally unrelated) cases.

As children, Sango and Jugo would often play with other kids near the beach. Both brothers were actually afraid of swimming in the ocean, but while Jugo would go near the water, Sango was so scared that he would never even leave the boat.<ref name=Ikkaku>[[Ikkaku Rock's Disappearing Fish|Episode 542: Ikkaku Rock's Disappearing Fish, Part 1]]</ref> Thus, Sango, even as an adult, does not know how to swim.<ref name=Net>[[The Mystery in the Net|Episode 246-247: The Mystery in the Net]]</ref>

== Personality ==
Unlike his brother Sango, Jugo is serious, stern, and much less easygoing, and also much more impatient. Jugo is considered an adept inspector, but because of his habitual sinister stare he appears even more intimidating than his brother. As a result, he is not quite popular with any people outside the force, especially if they are able to compare him with his brother.

In addition, Jugo is, unlike his brother, very critical of [[Kogoro Mouri]], whom he nicknames {{nihongo|Smoking Kogoro|煙の小五郎|''Kemuri no Kogorou''}} because of his heavy smoking habits, instead by his more common nickname {{nihongo|Sleeping Kogoro|眠りの小五郎|''Nemuri no Kogorou''}}. He is also not a big fan of [[Conan Edogawa]] and the [[Detective Boys]], often yelling at them and telling them to stay away from an investigation; as a result, they believe that Sango is the nicer of the two brothers and the only one able to smile, and Haibara declares that even if they have a similar appearance, their ways of speaking and personalities are totally different<ref>[[Clam Digging With a Sigh|Episode 443: Clam Digging With a Sigh]]</ref>. However, when they do get through to him, Jugo always readily listens and considers their opinions. Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya is a student in [[Teitan Elementary]] when [[Shinichi Kudo|Shinichi]] joins his class as [[Conan Edogawa]]. Shortly afterwards, his classmates [[Ayumi Yoshida|Ayumi]] and [[Genta Kojima|Genta]] have the idea of investigating an apparently haunted mansion, and they persuade Conan to come along. When Mitsuhiko expresses his skepticism about supernatural hauntings, Genta forcefully 'persuades' him to tag along as well. As it turns out, the haunting is a cover-up for an old homicide case.

Soon after, the accidental acquisition of a treasure map leads Ayumi, Genta, Mistuhiko and Conan on a hunt for a cache of stolen Italian gold coins, during which Conan saves them from getting killed by the mafia members who are also after the gold. After the case is resolved, Mitsuhiko joins Genta and Ayumi in forming the nucleus of an amateur detective group, the [[Detective Boys]].<ref>Manga Chapter 39: Code Sheet Case: The Shining Fish's True Form</ref>

Mitsuhiko enjoys reading science books and takes a scientific approach to problem-solving. He is a smart and well-read first-grader who believes that technology can solve most problems. Due to his strict and formal upbringing by his parents, he tends to be very formal towards his elders, addressing them (in Japanese) with the formal suffix "-san" without regard to the intimacy of their relationship.<ref name=358p8>Volume 35, File 8, pg 8: "Mitsuhiko's Disappearance 1"</ref>

It has been shown at numerous times that Mitsuhiko really likes to be prepared for any occasion. He enjoys studying scientific, historical and general subjects for his own interest and fun. This eventually allows him to provide useful insights whenever necessary. He's been (or felt) rewarded a few times for his knowledge. One of his other qualities is that he tends to be pro-active in many situations and think ahead of possible outcomes. For example, while the [[Detective Boys]] were trying to solve riddles they found in a Momotaro container in a small river in Kurashiki, a murder occurred which eventually led to the different codes to get burned. [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]], knowing that resolving those codes would lead to concrete proof as to who the murderer might be, was quite pleased when Mitsuhiko proudly announced that he took notes in his Detective Boys notebook "thinking that something like that could happen".<ref name="ep377" /> He has often been shown he was shrewder and more quick-witted than Genta and Ayumi, sometimes leading their reflexion when Conan is not with them. With time and experience, he will probably become about as intelligent as [[Shinichi Kudo]] and [[Heiji Hattori]].

Despite the preciousness of his intelligence, Mitsuhiko remains an elementary school child, and enjoys activities of his age, such as participating in the creation of a snowman or in a treasure hunting. As a consequence, he gets on really well with Genta and Ayumi.

However, the fireflies caught, he notices that he could not answer Conan's call on his badge without releasing them. He is eventually caught by the serial killer [[Ki'ichiro Numabuchi]] who was hiding in the forest. Since Numabuchi loves fireflies too, he does not hurst, and even carries him back to his friends. This case is a good example of Mitsuhiko's dedication for Ayumi and Haibara.

Yamaura was born and grew up in the Gunma Prefecture. However, even though he is a little clueless, Yamamura still knows the basics of his work and what to do in a crisis. For instance, he oftens writes in his notebook every information he has been given about the case - even if that does not prevent him from forgetting what he has written<ref>[[Mountain Witch's Cutlery|Episode 481-482: Mountain Witch's Cultery]] where he forgets a name before realizing he had noted it in his notebook.</ref>. Whenever Yamamura is involved in catching a criminal, he tends to become very excited. He noted that it felt like a "movie" when he had to shoot one of the runaway robbers in a case at a bank that was robbed.<ref name=Contact /> He is extremely excited to be involved in helping [[Eri Kisaki]] and Conan catch the real killer in another case, to the point of acting like a little kid after the killer was arrested, talking about how he acted and looked when confronting the killer.<ref name=Suspect /> His child-like reactions also manifest on the opposite end of the spectrum. Misao is the Gunma officer sent for the case, because it has been known that he knew Kogoro. He is excited by the idea of having an opportunity to record "Sleeping Kogoro" before showing it to his Gunma co-workers. Nevertheless, he is not really helpful in the resolving of the case. He seems really disappointed at the end of the episode, realizing that he had stopped his recording to save some battery, and forgetting to resume it later; he even asks Kogoro if he can perform his deduction show a new time at the crime scene, to be recorded entirely.

One of the murders of the case having happened on the Gunma border, Misao is called of the case. He behaves as he always does, is immediately despised by [[Kansuke Yamato]], and is even disrespectful towards [[Kiyonaga Matsumoto]]. Misao is one of the few inspectors (with Sango) to follow Kogoro's whimsical theory about the murder, and he is eventually the only one to come with him when he leaves the headquarters on his own, saying he is going to catch the culprit. He still plays a role in the movie, by hearing Vermouth dialing her Boss' phone number; the tune unconsciously makes him whistle the Nanatsu No Ko song, leading Conan to suspect a member of the Organization infiltrated the meeting.

Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya is a student in [[Teitan Elementary]] when [[Shinichi Kudo|Shinichi]] joins his class as [[Conan Edogawa]]. Shortly afterwards, his classmates [[Ayumi Yoshida|Ayumi]] and [[Genta Kojima|Genta]] have the idea of investigating an apparently haunted mansion, and they persuade Conan to come along. When Mitsuhiko expresses his skepticism about supernatural hauntings, Genta forcefully 'persuades' him to tag along as well. As it turns out, the haunting is a cover-up for an old homicide case.

Soon after, the accidental acquisition of a treasure map leads Ayumi, Genta, Mistuhiko and Conan on a hunt for a cache of stolen Italian gold coins, during which Conan saves them from getting killed by the mafia members who are also after the gold. Mitsuhiko enjoys reading science books and takes a scientific approach to problem-solving. He is a smart and well-read first-grader who believes that technology can solve most problems. Due to his strict and formal upbringing by his parents, he tends to be very formal towards his elders, addressing them (in Japanese) with the formal suffix "-san" without regard to the intimacy of their relationship.<ref name=358p8>Volume 35, File 8, pg 8: "Mitsuhiko's Disappearance 1"</ref>

It has been shown at numerous times that Mitsuhiko really likes to be prepared for any occasion. He enjoys studying scientific, historical and general subjects for his own interest and fun. This eventually allows him to provide useful insights whenever necessary. He's been (or felt) rewarded a few times for his knowledge. One of his other qualities is that he tends to be pro-active in many situations and think ahead of possible outcomes. For example, while the [[Detective Boys]] were trying to solve riddles they found in a Momotaro container in a small river in Kurashiki, a murder occurred which eventually led to the different codes to get burned. [[Conan Edogawa|Conan]], knowing that resolving those codes would lead to concrete proof as to who the murderer might be, was quite pleased when Mitsuhiko proudly announced that he took notes in his Detective Boys notebook "thinking that something like that could happen".<ref name="ep377" /> He has often been shown he was shrewder and more quick-witted than Genta and Ayumi, sometimes leading their reflexion when Conan is not with them. [[Conan]] and [[Haibara]] have an interesting relationship. Initially, Conan scorned Haibara for being part of the Black Organization and the inventor of murderous [[APTX 4869]], but he has since warmed up to her as a valuable teammate and someone to confide his true thoughts with when they conflict with his child cover. On her part, Haibara expresses a lot of interest in Conan's personality, intelligence, and sense of justice. This has led to the theory that Haibara is in love with Conan.

In Episode 223, it is revealed that Conan knows Haibara's true name, [[Shiho Miyano]], but he never calls her that despite her calling him "Kudo-kun".

It is shown in various manga chapters and anime episodes that Haibara hints at liking Conan. Whenever being asked about it however, she claims to be joking. Fans think that she is trying to hide her pain on the fact that Conan loves [[Ran Mouri|Ran]]. Conan always watches out for Haibara's safety and tries to protect and save Haibara on multiple occasions. He also worries about her mental condition whenever the Black Organization is involved. Both [[Yukiko Kudo]] and [[Jodie Starling]] have sensed that Haibara might have romantic feelings towards Conan, but whenever brought up are dismissed by Conan. When Haibara is around she is usually the first to notice Conan's actions and knows what he is up to.

* Upon Haibara's arrival at Teitan Elementary School, Genta eagerly offers the seat next to him for her to sit in. But as Haibara walks towards the desks, she brushes right past Genta and takes the empty seat next to Conan, and in a monotone voice says to him, "Nice to meet you." Surprised, Conan responds with, "Yeah..."

* After class is over, the Detective Boys try to catch up with Haibara in the hallway, wanting to ask her to walk home with them. Haibara ignores all of Ayumi's attempts to talk to her until she inquires about her address, to which she replies, "22 Beika Block, Second Street." Conan regards the address as familiar and remarks to himself that her house can't be too far away from where his is. Haibara then looks over her shoulder and smirks at him, surprising Conan and causing a small blush to appear right above his nose. Genta notices and asks him if he "likes that stuck-up woman", which Conan quickly denies.

* When Ayumi and Mitsuhiko are telling Haibara about the Detective Boys, she asks, "Edogawa-kun is in it too?". Shortly after, the Detective Boys come across a case, where a fellow classmate's older brother has been missing and wants to find him.

* After solving said case, and Ai fires a gun through a window, causing her to get a scolding from Inspector Megure, and starts fake-crying (impressively well) to get out of it. Conan walks Haibara back home to her house, while she is still crying. When Conan drops her off nearby her home, Haibara immediately stops crying and then starts talking about a drug called "APTX 4869". Conan is confused, as Haibara continues to ramble about the drug, how he took it, and how she did too. It is apparent that Haibara isn't just your average little girl. It is not until Haibara tells Conan that she's occupied Professor Agasa's house and that he's "not in this world anymore", that Conan begins to freak out. He tries to call Professor Agasa but does not get an answer, while Haibara smirks evilly in the background (she's got the upper hand, at the moment). Conan then leaves Haibara behind and sprints to Professor Agasa's house, hoping to find him safe.

* Later on, Conan, Haibara, and Agasa come across another case. One involving the locked-room-murder of a university professor. After Conan solves the case, Agasa and Conan decide to head back home. When Conan gestures for Haibara to come along, we see a tear roll down her face as she asks why he didn't help her sister. To answer a confused Conan's face, Haibara explains (still in tears) that Hirota Misami was a fake name her sister took from the now-deceased university professor, and Conan realizes that the same girl (from the previous episode) who died during the one-billion-yen robbery case. Haibara continues to shout at a stunned Conan, with all his deducing skills, he should have been able to see right through her sister's case. Haibara breaks down and falls on her knees in front of Conan and clutches his shirt and continues to cry into it. But Conan silently thinks to himself: "This is probably the first true face she's ever showed me."

Conan blushes slightly when she looks up at his face and answers "I guess so..." Immediately after, they were interrupted by Ayumi yelling, "Hey! What are you two doing!?" which was really directed at Genta and Mitsuhiko.

Conan Edogawa later gets lost, and when every one tries to look for him it starts raining. Haibara tells Ayumi to stop crying and that "Edogawa-kun isn't the type to make you worry. He'll come back himself." She then comments on Ayumi's bag and about not letting her tears enter it. Ayumi replies, "Hey how do you know Conan-kun so well..."
Haibara replies, "Come on. Why do you ask?"
"Is it because you like him, right?"
Haibara, surprised, recovers by asking, "What if I do?"

During the entire episode, Haibara is seriously frightened of Gin because the night before she dreamed that he discovered her true identity and killed everyone she had contact with. She made a point to also confide to Conan that she dreamed that he was shot first, which symbolizes a great fear over any harm done to him.

* Also, while they are in Professor Agasa's car following Gin and Vodka to the Haido City Hotel. She seems to be pleased by Conan's decision to stop Pisco from murdering someone (rather than just concentrating on Gin, Vodka, and the drug) and says, "Oh, what a strong sense of justice you have" with a proud smile. Because of his decision to do the right thing, she follows him into harms way knowing that she could be murdered immediately (because Gin can recognize her using only a strand of her hair) and enters Haido City Hotel against her premonitions.

* After Haibara says, "Maybe if I had been killed by the organization back then, there would be less hassle for everyone," Conan cuts her off by giving up his glasses (the only thing preventing people from recognizing him) and putting them on her to make her feel safer. After they have an encouraging conversation about his action's similarity to Superman/Clark Kent's disguise, Haibara turns away bashfully and thanks him. Symbolically, red roses represent love or passion, suggesting that Haibara might have romantic feelings towards Conan.

Haibara was petrified because she felt a familiar and scary presence from the [[Black Organization]] around. (She was right because Vermouth was disguised as Dr. Araide at that time) When Jodie asked Conan for her name, she grabbed onto his hand desperately and, understanding her fear, he simply said she was a random girl he happened to sit next to.

After it has been revealed that the bus was containing a bomb whom explosing was impending, Haibara chose to stay inside, in an attempt to commit suicide so that she wouldn't have to worry about her future, and so that she wouldn't not be a threat anymore for all the people near to her. Conan rushed back into the bus, risking his life to save her. They jumped out of the bus, but Conan was injured in the process. He rubbed some of his blood on Haibara to give the police a reason to send her to the hospital, possibly as a way to keep an eye on her. As Haibara got in the police car, he told her not to run away from her destiny.

The hijacked bus case led Haibara to be especially worried about her situation. However, Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko cheer her up and manage to make her smile. Conan then sarcastically comments that she should always behave like, as it makes her look like a child, and Haibara blushes.

Conan wonders why she did not stay with Agasa, and she aswers that she did not want to run away from the dolphins; she adds that, being the stars of the sea, they are totally different from the malicious sharks fleeing from the cold and dark bottom of the ocean, who cannot compete with them. However, this metaphor, drawing a parallelism between Ran and herself, is not understood by Conan.

Haibara asks why he shouted, declares he told her not to run away from fate, and adds "You're going to protect me, right ?", before precising sarcastically that she is not as weak as he thinks she is.

After the case, Conan and Haibara has to run laps for missing the semi-finals. When Conan has three laps to go, Haibara catches up to him and says, "I'll run with you." However, right after that, Ayumi and the rest comes up to them and runs the laps with them

At a later scene, when Conan uses his voice-changing bowtie to imitate Professor Agasa's voice, Haibara saves Conan from having to explain his actions to the rest of the Detective Boys. Haibara (still irritated) says, "Don't sweat it. I won't let them ''peek'' at things they shouldn't, unlike you". Conan assures her, "If it's about that, don't worry. I didn't see anything besides your butt", causing Haibara to blush. Conan's later comments prove to be the last straw for Haibara and she gets her revenge at the end of the episode

Initially, Conan scorned Haibara for being part of the Black Organization and the inventor of murderous [[APTX 4869]], but he has since warmed up to her as a valuable teammate and someone to confide his true thoughts with when they conflict with his child cover. On her part, Haibara expresses a lot of interest in Conan's personality, intelligence, and sense of justice. This has led to the theory that Haibara is in love with Conan.

In Episode 223, it is revealed that Conan knows Haibara's true name, [[Shiho Miyano]], but he never calls her that despite her calling him "Kudo-kun".

But as Haibara walks towards the desks, she brushes right past Genta and takes the empty seat next to Conan, and in a monotone voice says to him, "Nice to meet you." Surprised, Conan responds with, "Yeah..."

* After class is over, the Detective Boys try to catch up with Haibara in the hallway, wanting to ask her to walk home with them. Haibara ignores all of Ayumi's attempts to talk to her until she inquires about her address, to which she replies, "22 Beika Block, Second Street." Conan regards the address as familiar and remarks to himself that her house can't be too far away from where his is. Haibara then looks over her shoulder and smirks at him, surprising Conan and causing a small blush to appear right above his nose. Genta notices and asks him if he "likes that stuck-up woman", which Conan quickly denies.

* When Ayumi and Mitsuhiko are telling Haibara about the Detective Boys, she asks, "Edogawa-kun is in it too?". Shortly after, the Detective Boys come across a case, where a fellow classmate's older brother has been missing and wants to find him.

* After solving said case, and Ai fires a gun through a window, causing her to get a scolding from Inspector Megure, and starts fake-crying (impressively well) to get out of it. Conan walks Haibara back home to her house, while she is still crying. When Conan drops her off nearby her home, Haibara immediately stops crying and then starts talking about a drug called "APTX 4869". Conan is confused, as Haibara continues to ramble about the drug, how he took it, and how she did too. It is apparent that Haibara isn't just your average little girl. It is not until Haibara tells Conan that she's occupied Professor Agasa's house and that he's "not in this world anymore", that Conan begins to freak out. He tries to call Professor Agasa but does not get an answer, while Haibara smirks evilly in the background (she's got the upper hand, at the moment). Conan then leaves Haibara behind and sprints to Professor Agasa's house, hoping to find him safe.

* Later on, Conan, Haibara, and Agasa come across another case. One involving the locked-room-murder of a university professor. After Conan solves the case, Agasa and Conan decide to head back home. When Conan gestures for Haibara to come along, we see a tear roll down her face as she asks why he didn't help her sister. To answer a confused Conan's face, Haibara explains (still in tears) that Hirota Misami was a fake name her sister took from the now-deceased university professor, and Conan realizes that the same girl (from the previous episode) who died during the one-billion-yen robbery case. Haibara continues to shout at a stunned Conan, with all his deducing skills, he should have been able to see right through her sister's case. Haibara breaks down and falls on her knees in front of Conan and clutches his shirt and continues to cry into it. But Conan silently thinks to himself: "This is probably the first true face she's ever showed me."

Conan Edogawa later gets lost, and when every one tries to look for him it starts raining. Haibara tells Ayumi to stop crying and that "Edogawa-kun isn't the type to make you worry. He'll come back himself." She then comments on Ayumi's bag and about not letting her tears enter it. Ayumi replies, "Hey how do you know Conan-kun so well..."
Haibara replies, "Come on. Why do you ask?"

She made a point to also confide to Conan that she dreamed that he was shot first, which symbolizes a great fear over any harm done to him.

* Also, while they are in Professor Agasa's car following Gin and Vodka to the Haido City Hotel. She seems to be pleased by Conan's decision to stop Pisco from murdering someone (rather than just concentrating on Gin, Vodka, and the drug) and says, "Oh, what a strong sense of justice you have" with a proud smile. Because of his decision to do the right thing, she follows him into harms way knowing that she could be murdered immediately (because Gin can recognize her using only a strand of her hair) and enters Haido City Hotel against her premonitions.

* After Haibara says, "Maybe if I had been killed by the organization back then, there would be less hassle for everyone," Conan cuts her off by giving up his glasses (the only thing preventing people from recognizing him) and putting them on her to make her feel safer. After they have an encouraging conversation about his action's similarity to Superman/Clark Kent's disguise, Haibara turns away bashfully and thanks him. After it has been revealed that the bus was containing a bomb whom explosing was impending, Haibara chose to stay inside, in an attempt to commit suicide so that she wouldn't have to worry about her future, and so that she wouldn't not be a threat anymore for all the people near to her. Conan rushed back into the bus, risking his life to save her. They jumped out of the bus, but Conan was injured in the process. He rubbed some of his blood on Haibara to give the police a reason to send her to the hospital, possibly as a way to keep an eye on her. As Haibara got in the police car, he told her not to run away from her destiny.

Haibara (still irritated) says, "Don't sweat it. I won't let them ''peek'' at things they shouldn't, unlike you". Conan assures her, "If it's about that, don't worry. I didn't see anything besides your butt", causing Haibara to blush. Conan's later comments prove to be the last straw for Haibara and she gets her revenge at the end of the episode

It is shown in various manga chapters and anime episodes that Haibara hints at liking Conan. Whenever being asked about it however, she claims to be joking. Fans think that she is trying to hide her pain on the fact that Conan loves [[Ran Mouri|Ran]]. Conan always watches out for Haibara's safety and tries to protect and save Haibara on multiple occasions. He also worries about her mental condition whenever the Black Organization is involved. Both [[Yukiko Kudo]] and [[Jodie Starling]] have sensed that Haibara might have romantic feelings towards Conan, but whenever brought up are dismissed by Conan. When Haibara is around she is usually the first to notice Conan's actions and knows what he is up to.

=== (Episode 129) [[The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case]] - [[Volume 18]] File 6 ~ [[Volume 19]] File 1 ===
* Upon Haibara's arrival at Teitan Elementary School, Genta eagerly offers the seat next to him for her to sit in. But as Haibara walks towards the desks, she brushes right past Genta and takes the empty seat next to Conan, and in a monotone voice says to him, "Nice to meet you." Surprised, Conan responds with, "Yeah..."

* After class is over, the Detective Boys try to catch up with Haibara in the hallway, wanting to ask her to walk home with them. Haibara ignores all of Ayumi's attempts to talk to her until she inquires about her address, to which she replies, "22 Beika Block, Second Street." Conan regards the address as familiar and remarks to himself that her house can't be too far away from where his is. Haibara then looks over her shoulder and smirks at him, surprising Conan and causing a small blush to appear right above his nose. Genta notices and asks him if he "likes that stuck-up woman", which Conan quickly denies.

* When Ayumi and Mitsuhiko are telling Haibara about the Detective Boys, she asks, "Edogawa-kun is in it too?". Shortly after, the Detective Boys come across a case, where a fellow classmate's older brother has been missing and wants to find him.

* After solving said case, and Ai fires a gun through a window, causing her to get a scolding from Inspector Megure, and starts fake-crying (impressively well) to get out of it. Conan walks Haibara back home to her house, while she is still crying. When Conan drops her off nearby her home, Haibara immediately stops crying and then starts talking about a drug called "APTX 4869". Conan is confused, as Haibara continues to ramble about the drug, how he took it, and how she did too. It is apparent that Haibara isn't just your average little girl. It is not until Haibara tells Conan that she's occupied Professor Agasa's house and that he's "not in this world anymore", that Conan begins to freak out. He tries to call Professor Agasa but does not get an answer, while Haibara smirks evilly in the background (she's got the upper hand, at the moment). Conan then leaves Haibara behind and sprints to Professor Agasa's house, hoping to find him safe.

* Later on, Conan, Haibara, and Agasa come across another case. One involving the locked-room-murder of a university professor. After Conan solves the case, Agasa and Conan decide to head back home. When Conan gestures for Haibara to come along, we see a tear roll down her face as she asks why he didn't help her sister. To answer a confused Conan's face, Haibara explains (still in tears) that Hirota Misami was a fake name her sister took from the now-deceased university professor, and Conan realizes that the same girl (from the previous episode) who died during the one-billion-yen robbery case. Haibara continues to shout at a stunned Conan, with all his deducing skills, he should have been able to see right through her sister's case. Haibara breaks down and falls on her knees in front of Conan and clutches his shirt and continues to cry into it. But Conan silently thinks to himself: "This is probably the first true face she's ever showed me."

Near the end of the second part of this case, Haibara stares off into the distance after Conan made a joke about her being 84 years old. She tells him "Ara, I'm actually only 18 years old, just perfect for you. Just kidding." before she stares off into the distance again.

While trying to figure out a chess code at a castle where the Detective Boys are staying, Haibara walks up to Conan, bends down, looks down at his paper, and asks if he is happy because that is his favorite thing. Conan blushes slightly when she looks up at his face and answers "I guess so..." Immediately after, they were interrupted by Ayumi yelling, "Hey! What are you two doing!?" which was really directed at Genta and Mitsuhiko.

Conan Edogawa later gets lost, and when every one tries to look for him it starts raining. Haibara tells Ayumi to stop crying and that "Edogawa-kun isn't the type to make you worry. He'll come back himself." She then comments on Ayumi's bag and about not letting her tears enter it. Ayumi replies, "Hey how do you know Conan-kun so well..."
Haibara replies, "Come on. Why do you ask?"
"Is it because you like him, right?"
Haibara, surprised, recovers by asking, "What if I do?"
Ayumi replies, "Then...I'm in trouble..." implying that there will be a love triangle if she does. Haibara sees Ayumi is worried and does not want to trouble her anymore, so Haibara plainly states she does not have those kinds of feelings for Conan

At the start of the second Gomera movie, Ayumi falls asleep and puts her head on Conan's shoulder. When Conan turns to Haibara saying he needs to use the restroom and asks her if she would switch seats, she puts her head on Conan's shoulder too, having fallen asleep as well.

* The episodes opens with Haibara and Conan in what looks to be an abandonned and empty room. Haibara tells him that she (possibly referring to Ran) has found out about his identity. When he asks her why she's telling him all this, she tells him that he can see into the hearts of the wicked, but he couldn't understand a woman's heart, then tells him she's been in love with him since she met him. We see Conan's face, but it doesn't appear to be at all surprised, and Haibara continues with: "I guess you didn't even notice... Kamen Yaiba-san." After Mitsuhiko yells out "CUT!", it is revealed that both Conan and Haibara were merely acting, and practicing lines for Teitan Elementary School's play, with Mitsuhiko as the director.

* Conan and Haibara went to the Haido City Hotel to catch Pisco, a Black Organization member, before he kills someone using the drug that shrunk them, as ordered by Gin. During the entire episode, Haibara is seriously frightened of Gin because the night before she dreamed that he discovered her true identity and killed everyone she had contact with. She made a point to also confide to Conan that she dreamed that he was shot first, which symbolizes a great fear over any harm done to him.

* Also, while they are in Professor Agasa's car following Gin and Vodka to the Haido City Hotel. She seems to be pleased by Conan's decision to stop Pisco from murdering someone (rather than just concentrating on Gin, Vodka, and the drug) and says, "Oh, what a strong sense of justice you have" with a proud smile. Because of his decision to do the right thing, she follows him into harms way knowing that she could be murdered immediately (because Gin can recognize her using only a strand of her hair) and enters Haido City Hotel against her premonitions.

* After Haibara says, "Maybe if I had been killed by the organization back then, there would be less hassle for everyone," Conan cuts her off by giving up his glasses (the only thing preventing people from recognizing him) and putting them on her to make her feel safer. After they have an encouraging conversation about his action's similarity to Superman/Clark Kent's disguise, Haibara turns away bashfully and thanks him. He looks at her and says somewhat sarcastically "You really aren't too adorable."<ref>Episode 176 (Kaze no ko)</ref>

* After Haibara shrinks back to child size, Conan puts his jacket on her naked body and carries her from the fire before Pisco and Gin can discover them.

She then pulled the trigger, but it turned out that it was a fake gun that shot red roses from the barrel. Symbolically, red roses represent love or passion, suggesting that Haibara might have romantic feelings towards Conan.

Haibara was petrified because she felt a familiar and scary presence from the [[Black Organization]] around. (She was right because Vermouth was disguised as Dr. Araide at that time) When Jodie asked Conan for her name, she grabbed onto his hand desperately and he understood her fear, simply saying she was a random girl he happened to sit next to.

At the end of the second episode of [[The Mysterious Passenger]], Haibara chose to stay on the bus (which contained a bomb) in an attempt to commit suicide so that she wouldn't have to worry about her future or the Black Organization anymore. Conan rushed back into the bus, risking his life to save her. They jumped out of the bus, but Conan was injured in the process. He rubbed some of his blood on Haibara to give the police a reason to send her to the hospital, possibly as a way to keep an eye on her. It is also noted that Conan suspected that [[Vermouth|a Black Organization member]] was onboard the bus, so he tried to send her away. As Haibara got in the police car, Conan told her not to run away from her destiny.

The hijacked bus case led Haibara to be especially worried about her situation. However, Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko cheer her up and manage to make her smile. Conan then sarcastically comments that she should always behave like, as it makes her look like a child, and Haibara blushes.

Whereas she is at the beach when the Detective Boys and Ran, Haibara is saddened to realize that Conan is interested in Ran. Nevertheless, she remains in the water until Ran notices she got a sunstroke. Conan wonders why she did not stay with Agasa, and she aswers that she did not want to run away from the dolphins; she adds that, being the stars of the sea, they are totally different from the malicious sharks fleeing from the cold and dark bottom of the ocean, who cannot compete with them. However, this metaphor, drawing a parallelism between Ran and herself, is not understood by Conan.

He rushes and yells her name in order to hold her back, before realizing she is actually behind him. Haibara asks why he shouted, declares he told her not to run away from fate, and adds "You're going to protect me, right ?", before precising sarcastically that she is not as weak as he thinks she is.

At the beginning of the episode, Conan notices that Haibara, who usually does not participate in their trips, is acting a bit odd by deciding to come along. Conan comments, "I wonder what could have provoked you to come this time". Haibara says that she's not really interested in the trip itself, but just wants a place to focus on her reading, adding, "Besides, you can't protect me if I'm not with you, right?".
After the case, Conan and Haibara has to run laps for missing the semi-finals. When Conan has three laps to go, Haibara catches up to him and says, "I'll run with you." However, right after that, Ayumi and the rest comes up to them and runs the laps with them

Before leaving, Yukiko encourages Conan to take care of the other kids, and Conan agrees, looking particularly at Haibara.

Conan says he wants to tell her something, leading her to turn her head with a visage filled with emotion. Later in the episode, when Ai senses the presence of a Black Organization member, she hides behind Conan, tightly holding onto his shoulder.

"Ah, no...that was an accident," Conan tries to reason but Haibara wouldn't accept it, calling him a pervert instead. Conan says that he would have kept quiet if he were truly a pervert.

Having burst into the women's onsen after hearing Ayumi and Haibara's screams, Conan discovers a dead body. Genta and Mitsuhiko proceed to interrogate Conan, resulting in the following comical misunderstanding:

Genta (apprehensive): "You saw that, right?"
Conan: "Saw what?"
Mitsuhiko: "You know, "that"."
Genta: "Ayumi screamed really loud, right?"
Conan: "Yeah, I saw..."
Mitsuhiko (surprised): "So you really..." (at this point, both Ayumi and Haibara are red with embarrassment)
Genta (surprised): "did see that?!"
Conan: "Yeah, sure did. it's quite natural when going to the bath to be totally naked and exposed."
Haibara (angry and embarassed): "You little - !"
Conan (clueless): "But you saw that too... the old man's corpse."

At a later scene, when Conan uses his voice-changing bowtie to imitate Professor Agasa's voice, Haibara saves Conan from having to explain his actions to the rest of the Detective Boys. Haibara (still irritated) says, "Don't sweat it. I won't let them ''peek'' at things they shouldn't, unlike you". Conan assures her, "If it's about that, don't worry. I didn't see anything besides your butt", causing Haibara to blush. Conan's later comments prove to be the last straw for Haibara and she gets her revenge at the end of the episode

Haibara admitted that she wanted to forget about everything and always be with Conan "forever, just like this," which shocked him. However, she immediately said she was joking to make Conan feel better.

When Sonoko shows up with her hair done to look like Haibara's, Conan fantasizes about Haibara in her adult form. In the climax of the movie, when the Detective Boys fly through the air to the next building in the car and Haibara is holding on to Mitsuhiko's hand to avoid falling to her death, Conan realizes she will get killed by the glass formation so he kicks a biker helmet to break the formation to save her.

Haibara saves Conan by pushing him away from a falling statue, sacrificing herself so that he can win the game they are trapped in. Before she disappears, she encourages him: "Don't give up. Even without the helping characters, you are Holmes to us. There is that much ability within you. You're going to have to be our Holmes. There are no cases that Holmes can't solve, right?"

During the case Haibara found a footprint around the back of the shop. Conan then asks her to take a picture of it for him. She replies "Since when did I become your assistant?" he then said "Not assistant, partner." Haibara then comments about Conan being a smooth talker.

After Haibara explains to Professor Agasa on how Conan deduces the message that Haibara was relaying, she quietly thinks to herself, "Moreover, I also believe in him as my partner," referencing the previous movie.

As Conan holds Haibara tightly while riding his Turbo Engine Snowboard to rescue the Detective Boys, Haibara tells him, "Aren't you being a little too forward for a kid?" To which Conan hastily replies, "Yeah, yeah."

Conan saved Haibara from a baseball that was going to hit her, Haibara was silent after Conan said "Why are you daydreaming? Jeez, its because you're acting differently..."
