[[Heiji Hattori|Heiji]] and [[Kazuha Toyama|Kazuha]] grew up together and are easily each other's best friend and mutual love interest. They have gone at the same school since they were in pre-school. Neither of them have been shown to have other close friendships outside of their relationships with Shinichi and Ran, though Heiji does have a rivalry with fellow kendo practitioner [[The Osaka Double Mystery - The Naniwa Swordsman and Toyotomi%27s Castle#People|Okita]]. They often spend time together, and Kazuha typically comes along when Heiji visits the Mouri's or vice versa, and is usually getting caught up with Heiji in criminal investigations.
Kazuha and Heiji both wear twin good-luck charms that Kazuha made with pieces of the handcuff chain that stuck them together temporarily as children.<ref name=StabbedWallet>Manga Volume 19: Files 185 (Stabbed Wallet Case)</ref> Kazuha and Heiji have both shown jealousy when the other appears interested in someone else, even though they're not officially in a romantic relationship. Although, all their Jr. High School and High School classmates have commented that they're a couple. Their parents have known each other before they were even born. Making their families close.

Kazuha has demonstrated awareness of her love for Heiji, but has been either too shy or unfortunately interrupted any time she tries to tell him. Heiji, in contrast, is played off in the beginning to be oblivious to her romantic interest in him and has gotten confused many times whenever she tries to confess her love to him. This usually frustrates Kazuha and it leads to their "'''''Old Married Couple'''''" arguing that many people point out make them look like a real couple.

Heiji has been shown to be deadly protective of Kazuha and will put himself in harms way whenever she's in danger, such as when he got shot in the arm trying to protect her from being killed in [[Private Eye in the Distant Sea]] and when he refused to let her go when she stabbed him with her arrow when they were hanging off a side of a cliff.<ref name=Mermaid'sCurse>Manga Volume 28: Files 283 (Mermaid's Curse Case)</ref> At the conclusion of that same case, he made a silent promise that he would never let her get hurt while he was around.<ref name=Mermaid'sCurse>Manga Volume 28: Files 283 (Mermaid's Curse Case)</ref>

Heiji and Kazuha's fathers have worked together on the same police force for many years and are very close friends, it's actually because of their friendship that they even met in the first place. [[Ginshiro Toyama|Mr. Toyama]] has even admitted, albeit teasingly, that he preferred it if his daughter married Heiji instead of some other punk.<ref name=TigerScrollCase>Manga Volume 31: Files 317 (Tiger Scroll Case)</ref> Both families are very close to each other and because of that, that's how Heiji and Kazuha were handcuffed together in the first place after they were playing a game of cops and robbers.<ref name=StabbedWallet>Manga Volume 19: Files 185 (Stabbed Wallet Case)</ref>

Even though Heiji has been played off as oblivious to Kazuha's failed advancements on him romantically, it's later revealed that he does feel the same way about her. Such as when he grabbed a guy by the neck and asked, "'''''Whatcha Doin' to MY Kazuha?!'''''" when he thought she was being taken away and kidnapped on Ebisu Bridge.<ref name=DrugTrading>Manga Volume 83: Files 881 (Drug Trading Case)</ref> And how he admitted that "'''''Something That Important'''''" (Referencing his love for Kazuha) should be said in a more proper romantic setting than an old bridge. After Ran watches Heiji and Kazuha interact, and Heiji explain that the "Kudo" he has been talking about is actually a guy, Ran asks if they are a couple. They both deny it, citing their fathers' connections, but Kazuha admits with a blush that she had been following Heiji and Ran for some time to make sure Heiji did not "get carried away by some Tokyo girl".
* When Heiji leaves to investigate the murder case, Kazuha calls after him to ensure that he has his lucky charm for protection. Heiji confirms that he does and tells her to not worry.

* Kazuha treats Ran coldly, to Ran's confusion, until Kazuha reveals she is annoyed by the fact that Ran and Heiji are wearing matching shirts like they did when they met in Osaka, as if they had planned it as a couple. Ran, hearing this, takes off the shirt immediately and changes into something else, despite the fact that she only has underwear below and they are in the middle of Shibuya, a busy shopping district. Kazuha is greatly surprised by this, and starts thinking that she was wrong about Ran.
* At a temple for prayers, Heiji says Kazuha should ask for nice legs, causing Kazuha to blush.
* After the case concludes, Ran pushes Kazuha to wear the same sort of shirt as Heiji. When Heiji notices, Kazuha blushes and says she will change. Heiji says he does not mind, because it makes them look like siblings. Kazuha looks nonplussed by this unromantic comparison.

* Heiji frantically calls Kazuha's name and immediately calms down when he sees her. When Yuzo Takeda states how after both Conan and Heiji learned that the place the girls were going was cursed and dashed out, Kazuha, blushes and smiles,then asks if he was worried. Blushing, Heiji denies that's not the case.
* Heiji becomes horrified when he sees Kazuha tangled in wires; he proceeds to repeatedly shout her name, pleading that she wakes up. When Kazuha does wake up, Heiji has a content look on his face.
* When confronting the Takeda family on Kazuha being attacked by the murderer, Heiji mockingly states that after Kazuha wakes up, she will reveal who attempted to kill her. The classic "red, angry" mark can be seen on his head, meaning how ''furious'' Heiji is of who tried to hurt Kazuha.
* Kazuha blushes and twitches her eyes when Heiji tells her to "take off her clothes" (it had to do with the case). He even tries to take off her shirt, himself, earning him a well deserved slap in the face.
* When the murderer is revealed, Heiji confronts him about how he went too far by bringing Kazuha into things. When the killer dismisses this, Heiji angrily reveals how the man's love died (a misunderstanding due to the killer being foreign and not knowing that much about Japanese) just out of spite. Even Conan thinks that it is cruel to do so, but Heiji holds no remorse.

* Kazuha says she has thought about staying forever young and beautiful. When Ran asks if she wants to because of liking Heiji, Kazuha blushes and tells Ran to not talk so loud.
* After the murder occurs, Kazuha happily tells Ran that the criminal will be found soon because Heiji has flipped his cap from back to front, a sign that he is now seriously investigating the case. She adds with a blush that she hopes that Ran will fall in love with him, because she thinks that she cannot compete with Ran. Ran hugs Kazuha and calls her cute in response.
* After the second murder, Heiji tells Kazuha not to wander off, causing her to blush. She takes him at his word and follows as he investigates, as well as offering to protect him with her blessed arrow. Heiji does not think much of it, but Kazuha privately affirms that she means it seriously.
* In pursuit of a memorial stone, Heiji runs nearly off a cliff, saved only by Kazuha swinging him around to trade places. As a result, she falls, and Heiji dives after her, catching onto a tree in the cliff face with one hand and her with the other. Kazuha believes the branch Heiji is holding will break if he tries to pull her up, and proceeds to stab the hand holding her wrist with the mermaid arrow to transfer her "long life" to Heiji. To her surprise, Heiji still does not let go, and eventually gets them both to safety despite the injury (in an unspecified manner).

Kazuha blushes at the thought, and is disappointed when her father tells Heizo it was a joke.
* Heiji berates Kazuha for giving Kogoro, Ran, and Conan the exact same information and tour he did when they first came to Osaka, making Kazuha angry and embarrassed at Heiji's statement.
* Heiji leads Kazuha away from the role play group by the arm when she tries to interact with them more, calling them "'''Weirdos'''".
* When Kazuha loses her wallet, she refuses to give up looking for it because it had her good-luck charm (with the handcuff chain) and other charms to ward off a murder case inside.
* Heiji tells Kazuha not to cry in an uncomfortable voice after a raindrop falls on her face, making her look like she started to cry over her wallet.
* Kazuha called her father to help investigate because he knows additional information about the case; she initially tries to get Heiji to leave with her, but then leaves with just Ran because she wants to see his triumphant expression when he's solved the case. When he gets that expression, she blushes happily and assures the others that Heiji knows who the criminal is.
* Heiji looks the most concerned when he hears Kazuha's scream in the distance.
* Heiji pays close attention to Kazuha as she explains what happened when she and Ran were walking on the bridge to pick up Conan from the crime scene.

* It is revealed Heiji brought Kazuha along with him as an apology for not showing up to their last date (he went to Tokyo to aid Conan in his investigation of the Black Organization as per Agasa's request).
* Heiji interrupts two men flirting with Kazuha and Ran. When asked who he is, Heiji answers "My...", which causes Kazuha to blush, before he adds she is merely his childhood friend and a bit annoying, to Kazuha's disappointment. Ran comments in the background that his statement was phrased oddly, as if that might not have been what he originally intended to say.

* Heiji and Kazuha are held hostage in the attic of Misari Ito's house.
* Heiji tries to get their hands free from the handcuffs, but winds up hurting Kazuha when he messes up. Making her call him an idiot while Heiji tells her to be quiet or the others will hear them.
* When Heiji drops the pin he was using to unlock the handcuffs, Kazuha becomes panicked and Heiji asks if she has some type of wire with her. She tells him that was the only thing she had.
* Kazuha asks Heiji if it would just be better for them to solve the code they gave them, since they said they would be released unharmed if they did.
* Heiji and Kazuha are threatened by the two kidnappers that if they didn't solve the code, then they would be as cold as the other guy they caught.
* Kazuha whispers Heiji's name softly in fear and Heiji comforts her by saying that they don't know "That Guy" (referencing Shinichi), causing Kazuha to become confused at his statement.
* Kazuha looks at Heiji with concern and worry as he is abused by the two kidnappers.
* Kazuha asks Heiji if he is alright and that he has to hang on.
* When Heiji is punched in the stomach by one of the kidnappers, Kazuha says his name with deep concern.
* After Heiji gets his hair pulled by one of the kidnappers to get his ear sliced off, Kazuha exclaims Heiji's name in fear for his safety.
* Kazuha yells at the Kidnapper with the knife to stop with tears in her eyes. Not wanting any harm to come to Heiji.
* Heiji leads Kazuha to the window where he exclaims in surprise that Shinichi (Conan) was leaving them. Kazuha tells him that he's probably thinking of a way to save them but Heiji doubts her claims.
* Heiji, frustrated at their situation, says that he has no other choice but to break the window. Causing Kazuha to freak out at his proclamation.
* Heiji turned around when Kazuha began to recount how her father knew Kusukawa-San was a gambler and scolded her for not telling him sooner.
* When Kazuha asks Heiji if he has the entire answer to the problem, Heiji smiles and says that he does saying that it is easy to remember if you gamble.
* Misari threatens Heiji that if he messed up on the top part of the problem than he would find himself covered in his girlfriend's (Kazuha's) blood.
* Heiji and Kazuha are both horrified when they realize Misari's full plan.
* Misari asks Heiji if he has any last words to say before she kills him, After a while and a threat, Heiji says that his last words were directed to Kazuha right behind him.
* Kazuha's eyes widen when he says that his final words are for her.
* When Misari says that his Girlfriend (Kazuha) won't last much longer than him, he says that it's something that he's been wanting to tell her forever and asks for the gun to be put down until he is finished.
* When Misari starts to rush Heiji on his last words to Kazuha, he says that he wants to make sure that it is perfect so that she remembers it when she's up in Heaven. Causing Kazuha to blush at his statement.
* When Heiji's plan is foiled to get the gun away from Misari, he gets kicked down and Kazuha cries out his name in concern and fear.
* While Misari is counting down before she shoots Heiji, He tells Kazuha that he was telling the truth when he said that his final words were for her. Saying that he almost said it over and over and that every time he felt her tremble against his back he, and he stops right there before he embraces for the impact of the gun shot.
* Kazuha listens to this in a horrified gaze with tears filling up her eyes.
* After Heiji is released and is about to leave with Misari, Kazuha looks at him with scared eyes and asks if they survived this than he would tell her what he was about to say. Causing Heiji to smile and reply that he'll keep saying it until she gets tired of it.
* After Misari is arrested along with her accomplices, Heiji tells Shinichi (Conan) that the case was close in many ways. Thinking back to the point where he was almost shot in front of Kazuha when he was telling her his final words.
* Heiji started to blush hard when Kazuha asked him what his final words were and scratched his cheek as he started to say them over to her again, but he gets embarrassed and scared and told her that her pigtail was bothering him every single time she moved. Angering Kazuha and causing Shinichi to wince with sympathy, who was listening on the other side blushing as well for his situation.

* Heiji and Kazuha recall their hostage situation when they spend the night at Kogoro's apartment.
* Before Kazuha could say anymore about Kogoro solving the deciphered code (Which was actually Shinichi's doing), Heiji cuts her off and says that it didn't matter anymore.
* When Kazuha looks at Heiji confused about the Arsonist, Heiji takes the time to explain to her and the others what the arsonist is trying to accomplish.
* Kazuha wishes Heiji and the others luck on their detective business when she heads off with Ran. Heiji smiles at her and replies back "OK."
* When Kazuha comments that Heiji and Conan get along really well, Ran asks if she's jealous of Conan. Making Kazuha deny any such thing.
* While walking away Heiji look back slightly, because he is worried about Kazuha.
* When Heiji and the others were late coming back to Ran's apartment, Kazuha questions Heiji furiously over the phone.
* Heiji explains that they are at a client's house and Kazuha is furious with the news, saying that they would be back by now.
* Heiji agrees and says that they were on their way when a couple of firetrucks came by and made them worried. So they went back to discover the house was in flames. Causing Kazuha to become surprised with the news.
* Kazuha calls Heiji an Idiot since she thought she had found the perfect shirt that would fit him when she and Ran went out shopping together. Wanting to show him the shirt when they got home.
* Ran reassures Kazuha saying that Heiji and the others would be back home soon.
* Kazuha becomes severely frustrated with Heiji when it becomes late at night, saying to forget them and go to bed since they're going to Tropical Land in the morning. But Ran stops her before she went to bed by asking to put the teruterubozu over her Dad's window.
* When Heiji hears that Kazuha and Ran received a Red Horse key chain, he yells at Kogoro to tell him what block his apartment is on. With concern in his eyes for their safety.
* After Kazuha and Heiji see each other again at Ran's place, he asked her in a concerned voice what had happened.
* Kazuha is frustrated and angry when Heiji cancels their plans to go to Tropical Land.
* When Kazuha and Ran are freaked out about the burnt down building, Heiji asks them why they even bothered to come along with them in the first place with an irritated tone of voice.
* Kazuha replies back to him that they came because they wanted to finish the case as quickly as possible so that they could resume their plans to go to Tropical Land together.
* It is revealed that Kazuha talks to Heiji's mother frequently and they talk for quite some time together.
* Heiji and Shinichi (Conan) are frightened when they are caught talking about Kazuha and Ran's calling habits.
* With some common knowledge given by Kazuha and Ran's conversations, Heiji and Shinichi (Conan) are able to figure out the rest of the case.

* Heiji and Kazuha are both at the Kogoro's apartment to greet Conan when he returns home.
* When they arrive at the restaurant, Heiji and Kazuha sit right next to each other.
* Heiji and Kazuha are equally surprised when they hear different plans from each other to go to the Koshien and the Takarazuka, causing them to begin an argument.
* When Kazuha says that they cannot do both after Heiji mentions the High School Baseball finals, Heiji leans in closer to her and asks if she got the tickets from one of the five women who absolutely love Takarazuka.
* Heiji smiles at Kazuha and offers the unsolved murder case as a competition to see if they go to Koshien or Takarazuka.
* Kazuha is angered at the proposal, seeing as how Heiji is a better detective than she is and that she'll never win in a competition revolving around deduction and reasoning against him.
* Heiji says to Kazuha that it is sneaky of her to get two people to help her out with a annoyed look on his face, Kazuha just sticks her tongue out at him.
* Kazuha stands right behind Heiji as he is looking over the spot the dead body was found.
* Heiji explains out loud that they don't know if the murderer was an outsider to begin with and stands up to be right besides Kazuha with a smile on his face.
* While Megure lays out the pictures in front of them, Heiji stands close to Kazuha's shoulder.
* As Heiji is explaining his reasoning behind the ink on the blocks, he smiles and looks back at Kazuha as he continues on with his explanation.
* Kazuha stops herself before she praises Heiji's reasoning, reminding her that she is in a competition with him and that she can't allow him to win and figure out the dying message before her.
* When Heiji finally figures out what the dying message means, he smiles and looks back at Kazuha. Apologizing that he has solved the message and that he's going to win the competition.
* Heiji then realizes that Kazuha is frustrated and that she is starting to cry over the fact that she can't figure out the dying message. Making him soften his expression on his face to concern for her feelings.
* Heiji thinks Kazuha's name in a gentle tone of voice and continues to look at her in a gentle fashion.
* After remembering what Shinichi said to him about competitions about deductions, he decides to let Kazuha win and he starts to drop hints to her on how to win the competition.
* As Heiji drops hints to Kazuha about solving the dying message, he keep turning his direction to gaze into her eyes to see if she gets what he is trying to do. Making Shinichi (Conan) realize what he is doing and smile at his reasoning behind playing dumb all of a sudden.
* When Megure says that Kazuha's reasoning must be wrong, Heiji stands up for her and says that her deduction wasn't wrong at all.
* When Heiji starts to get wrapped up in solving the case after he has put all the pieces together in his head, Shinichi (Conan) starts to warn him silently that their main intention was to let Kazuha win the competition.
* Shinichi (Conan) Is dumbfounded when Heiji solves the case, since Heiji's main intention was to let Kazuha win the competition so that they would all go to Takarazuka instead of Koshien.
* Heiji is frightened when he realizes that he accidentally got too wrapped up in solving the case and turns to hear Kazuha congratulate him and says that she'll practice the Tiger's Fight song and turns to leave him.
* Heiji cries out for Kazuha to wait so that he can tell her that they can go to Takarazuka.
* When Ran suggests that they try to make Heiji want to go to Takarazuka instead, Kazuha denies this and says that the only thing that she wanted to see was Heiji's face after he solves a case and smiles at his expression.
* Heiji sits and pouts at his accidental victory and wonders how he messed up on his plan to allow Kazuha to win, making Shinichi (Conan) call him an idiot.

With a faint blush, Heiji tells Kazuha to go back inside so she doesn't get sick, which causes her to blush in return and agree to do so. After he leaves, Kazuha's classmates tease her gently about liking him.
* At lunch, some boys tease Heiji and Kazuha about being a couple when Kazuha sits next to Heiji rather than the other girls in their class.
* Kazuha tries to stop Heiji from investigating an old murder despite an incoming snowstorm. They overhear Sonoko teasing Ran and Shinichi about being a couple, assume it's directed to them and blush, and Heiji starts to vehemently deny it until he realizes Sonoko isn't looking at them.
* When Heiji berates his mother for following him on the ski trip to add to her videotape collection of him growing up, Kazuha blushes and thinks that she would like to see those tapes.
* Kazuha's classmates realize that Kazuha got herself promoted to the advanced skier group to be in the same group as Heiji, despite not being very good at even getting off the ski lift. She admits it and asks them not to tell Heiji about it. She also accompanies Heiji through the rest of his investigation, which also aggravates her ankle. He call her an ''ahou'', but carries her piggyback and thanks her for her assistance in what he's figured out about the case so far. Heiji also concludes that she got into the advanced skier class to show off, unaware that Kazuha is blushing and smiling from the closeness as he carries her, and to be closer to him was her true aim.

* Heiji and Kazuha run to Kannouden shrine together and Kazuha asks why the shrine is Gonbee-san, Heiji answers her by explaining the name origins of the Shrine and that the name belonged to an ancient Feudal lord name Gonbee Hidehisa.
* Heiji turns to Kazuha and says that Haruna should be around where they were.
* Once Haruna sees that they've found her, Heiji and Kazuha chase after her once again down the steps to the shrine but are stopped by a group of women.
* Heiji and Kazuha arrive just in time to see Haruna get in the car with the kidnapper holding Ran hostage.
* When Heiji and Kazuha discover where Ran was being held hostage, Kazuha cuts in front of Heiji asking Ran in a happy tone if she was alright.
* Heiji and Kazuha stand side-by-side as they watch Haruna resolve everything with her parents and the reunion of the two pieces of the statue.

Heiji goes to Tokyo to get it back; when he asks Kazuha why she even came along, she blushes and doesn't answer. Later she privately confides to Ran that she came to get the charm back without letting Heiji look inside, because she secretly keeps a small photo of his face inside it. Ran agrees to help, but teases Kazuha with the possibility of showing Heiji the photo.
* After the case is solved, the charm is released from police evidence to Heiji, which causes Kazuha to panic and run after him. By the time she arrives, Heiji has already opened the charm—but the tennis player scribbled all over the picture in frustration at realizing that Kazuha wouldn't return his feelings, so Heiji concludes that Kazuha thinks he's ridiculous rather than being in love with him.

* Kazuha tells Ran that the demon dog statement was just a story that they heard and Heiji corrects her saying that they don't know if it is just a story or not in a patient tone.
* As Heiji talks about the death of the original master of the Inubushi house, Kazuha gazes at him intently as he explains what really happened back then for the case.
* When Conan asks Heiji how he got a hold of the case, Heiji tells him that he got the case from Kazuha's mother.
* Kazuha admits that the case was originally meant for her father, but since he couldn't leave Osaka city he decided to get someone to go in his stead and picks Heiji to take on the case.

* After Kazuha hypothesizes that the final member of the Inubushi family could have sustain facial injury and could be wearing a mask, Heiji looks over at her in an annoyed way and thinks in his head to her that this wasn't the Inugami clan.
* When sitting down for tea with Miyuki, Heiji and Kazuha are sitting across from each other at the table while they listened to her story.
* As Kazuha is making a proper prayer at the grave to the dead dog so that she won't get cursed, Heiji looks at her with an annoyed look on his face and thinks to himself to her that there's no such thing as curses.
*Heiji yells at Kazuha to go call the police and an ambulance after the missing adopted Inubushi child falls in front of them from on top of the cliff and informs her saying that he, Conan, and Kogoro will be going to the top of the cliff.
* Kazuha yells at Heiji that he shouldn't leave them alone at a place like this (referencing the crime scene) and Heiji instead leaves with Conan and Miyuki up the hill after Conan leaves Kogoro to wait with the girls.
* Kazuha reacts in horror when Heiji says that it was as if a flaming dog had passed through at the scene of the crime.
* When Kazuha says that the stories about the demon dog are true, Heiji scolds her and replies with an annoyed look on his face that there's no such thing as a demon dog. But smiles at her saying that it was just a trick.
* As Kazuha and Ran start talking about what had happened when the ambulance picked up Saki's body, Heiji looks over at Kazuha intently and reacts when she says that there was a marble at the scene of the crime.
* When Heiji asks if they had the marble with them, Kazuha and Ran replied that they thought it was an offering and left it at the crime scene.
* As Heiji leaves with the inspector, Conan, and Kogoro to the scene of the crime; he tells Kazuha to be good and to wait quietly for him to come back.
* When Kazuha and Ran object to being left behind since they were the ones who found the marble, Heiji replies back that they could come along with them but the demon dog could appear again. Making Kazuha and Ran understand where he was getting at and decide to stay behind.
* When Heiji receives a call from Kazuha, he tells her that it's going to be a while and that she should go to bed but then yells out in shock when Kazuha tells him that the dog showed up at the house.
* Heiji questions Kazuha whether or not the dog was really on fire with a concerned look on his face as Kazuha nods her head and replies that is was.
* As Kazuha brings up that she smelled something when she fell, Heiji asks intently what kind of odor it was as he gazed at her intently.
* Kazuha and Ran are disappointed when it turns out that Heiji and Conan weren't as stupefied as Kogoro had told them they were to begin with, hinting that Kazuha actually wanted to see him stumped for once.
* When Kazuha says that '''Princess''' could be referencing Miyuki since the same kanji is part of her name, Heiji calls her an idiot and says that couldn't be the case.
* Heiji asks what Kazuha and Ran are doing as they are eating Dinner later that afternoon with an annoyed look and they reply that they're watching a re-run of a quiz show and trying to guess the answer to a question.
* Heiji and Conan agree when they both ask the girls why they aren't in bed since it was 1:00 AM in the morning and Heiji mentions that their futons are ready in their rooms.
* When Kazuha tells Heiji that it's because their afraid of the demon dog that they can't go to sleep, Heiji starts to try and talk her into going to bed.
* Kazuha challenges Heiji to solve the question the game show to see if he can do it before the time runs out, saying that they'll go to bed if he can answer it correctly.
* When Kogoro believes that Miyuki is the serial killer in the Inubushi family, Kazuha rushes to Heiji's bedside to wake him up to see if what Kogoro is saying is the truth or not. Only to be surprised when Heiji isn't there.
* After the flamed demon dog appears to be just a regular dog in a cloth, Kazuha questions what it had around it's body. Heiji answers her by walking up behind her and answering it was imitation fire with a smile on his face.
* While Heiji is explaining how the dog can appear and reappear with the help of the cloth and the tricks behind the attacks, he stands very close to Kazuha.
* Kazuha asks Heiji if the smell she smelt before was the lighters used for the trick for the footprints, Heiji smiles and replies that it was and explains why she fell in the first place before at the house when she was being chased by the dog.

* Kazuha replies that she can't help it since her mother wants her to buy some retort-pouch curry for her back at home, Heiji gives her a look and tells her that she doesn't need to look for it right now with a sigh and asks her why she can't buy it later.
* Kazuha says to Heiji that it's precisely his kind of attitude that always causes her to miss her opportunity to buy Shinshu Miso for her when they were in Nagano, causing Heiji to become slightly offended and annoyed by her reminder.
* After Kazuha spots the family restaurant that sells the curry, she tells Heiji to go on ahead without her to Kogoro's place and that she'll meet him there. Shocking Heiji with her actions.
* When Kazuha yells for the bus driver to stop, Heiji tells her that the bus isn't a taxi with an uncomfortable look on his face.
* Heiji yells Kazuha's name out of the bus window for her, but Kazuha tells him goodbye and leaves. Making him yell out her name one more time before he gets cut off mid sentence by the distance between them.
* Heiji later asks what's up with her with an annoyed look on his face.
* After Ran asks where Kazuha is, Heiji smiles and replies that she's out running an errand and starts to tell the story about how her mother sent her out to buy her the curry since it's only sold in Tokyo family restaurants and how she saw it before they arrived.
* Heiji receives a phone call from Kazuha and he picks up to ask if she got her curry yet, Kazuha yells for Heiji to help her and Heiji becomes alarmed as to what is going on.
* When Heiji says that she should be at the family restaurant, Kazuha replies that she is but someone had died in the bathrooms and it's causing a huge disruption in the building.
* Heiji asks Kazuha if it was a murder and Kazuha replies that she doesn't know, only that a huge foreign man told everyone not to leave the shop so she can't leave.
* Heiji tells her that he understands and that he'll be there soon so she should hold on for him.
* Heiji announces to everyone that they heard what was going on and that he was leaving to go help Kazuha. Only to be stopped by Sera when she decides that this would be a perfect opportunity for Heiji and Shinichi to decide who is the greater detective.
* When Heiji and the gang finally arrive at the family restaurant, he asks Kazuha if the foreigner spoke English when he told everyone to block the exists and the restrooms. Kazuha replied that he spoke Japanese and that he was the first to discover the body.
* When Heiji exclaims in a rude tone of voice that Ran was actually familiar with Special Agent Camel, Kazuha grabs Heiji by the arm and tells him that he's being rude for pointing out him in a mean way. Even if it is true, only to be told she did the same thing by Ran.
* Kazuha overhears Heiji saying that he's hungry and calls him over to the table to eat with her, Ran, and Kogoro. Heiji yells at her saying that they've been working while they've been eating in a teasing and slightly ticked off tone of voice.
* Kazuha defends her actions to Heiji by saying that they were hungry and couldn't help but order something to eat since their stomach's were grumbling.
* When Heiji asks if the dishes they're eating really are the dishes that the suspects ordered, Kazuha confirms it to him by saying that Kogoro asked the waitress about it.
* Kazuha then goes on to explain that each of them are eating the same dishes that the suspects are eating to Heiji and Conan.
* When Heiji is yelling at the three suspects about one of them having a Kansai dialect, Kazuha rushes up to him asks why he's so riled up.
* Heiji replies to Kazuha that he's riled up because he's finally taking the lead in the case and if he doesn't solve it soon, Shinichi will beat him.
* Once Conan, who is pretending to have heard the entire deduction from Shinichi over the phone since he is Shinichi, says they'll figure out who the culprit is with a magical dish, we see that Heiji and Kazuha are standing very close in proximity to each other.
* After Heiji and Kazuha drink the miso soup that Conan (Shinichi) had told the restaurant to make, they have the exact same reaction saying that it's spicy.
* When Conan (Shinichi) reveals who the killer is, the culprit tries to take down Kazuha after failing to move pass Ran. Though Heiji yells at him that he shouldn't go that way either but is to late to warn him after Kazuha flips him on top of a table.
* Heiji and Conan (Shinichi) sigh as they said that they shouldn't go those ways to begin with, since they knew their girlfriends could take him out.
* Kazuha is shock to hear that Heiji and Shinichi were competing against each other during this case since she wasn't there to hear the challenge that Sera had set up.
* As Heiji is reading the letter he received from a dead culprit who had contacted him to the others, Kazuha gazes at him with a concerned look on her face.

* While Otaki is explaining the murder case to Kogoro, Ran, and Conan, Heiji and Kazuha stand close together behind Otaki.
* After Kazuha states the information about the chair and how it couldn't have been a suicide, Heiji agrees saying that it was used to make it seem like a suicide actually happened to cover up the murder.
* Heiji yells at Kazuha to stop messing around in an irritated tone since they're not going to the room to fool around, Kazuha replies that she knows that and that she knows she has an important role.
* Kazuha confirms that the chair is the same design and the same color as the chairs she has at home, telling Heiji that the case really is strange.
* Heiji replies back to Kazuha that that's what he's been saying from the beginning with an annoyed look on his face.
* When Heiji activates the cleaning robot, Kazuha yells at him and asks what he's doing with the robot.
* Heiji replies that he's solving the mystery, and proceeds to explain to Kazuha how he didn't use the chair to commit suicide and how he actually used a trash can.
* Kazuha looks concerned at Heiji after he solves the case, noticing how depressed his expression and body language is.
* While Heiji is talking to Detective Otaki and Detective Takagi about the murder, we see that Kazuha stands directly behind him as they all investigate the scene of the crime.
* Kazuha yells at Heiji to stop fooling around after Heiji deems the shooting in the elevator to be a murder instead of a suicide, but Heiji remains calm and continues to explain his reason for believing that the case is a murder instead of a suicide to them.
* Kazuha gazes at Heiji as he continues to explain how the crime is a murder in an entranced state looking confused, yet impressed at the same time.
* Kazuha freaks out after Heiji turns his hat around on his head, an action that signifies his interest and excitement for a case, and says that they were supposed to catch the next train back to Osaka.
* Kazuha complains to Ran about why Heiji is taking so long and is relieved when Heiji comes back with the others after questioning the suspects.
* After the case is over and Kazuha offers Conan to stay with them since Heiji was complaining about the space, Heiji glares at him and tells him to watch himself and calls him a pervert in his mind. Showing his protective jealousy over Kazuha.

* After they arrive at the destination of the case, Kazuha freaks out when she hears that the owner is a supposed vampire. Heiji tries to calm her down by saying that he said bumper-bumper instead of vampire so that she wouldn't freak out about the case.
* Kazuha invites Heiji to look around the mansion with her, saying that it looks like a castle and that it's really cool. Heiji gives her a look though when she says this because of all the new vampire information he's been given by the butler about the owner.
* When Heiji hears Kazuha and Ran scream after discovering the dead body, he runs with Conan to the room to ask what happened with a concerned tone.
* Heiji informs Kazuha that there wasn't anyone in the coffin, making her react in shock and telling him that had to be a lie.
* After Kazuha and Ran say that it was as if the master was Dracula himself, Heiji looks at them intently and intrigued by their statement.
* Heiji sticks with Kazuha's story about the master being inside the coffin and asks Otaki to take a blood swipe to analyze for any DNA, showing his trust in Kazuha.
* When Kazuha and Ran scream again, they rush to their sides to see what's the matter.
* After Kazuha and Ran discover the case revolving around vampires to be true, they dash out of the room with Heiji calling out to Kazuha to come back with Ran.
*When they see that the master really is in the photo like Kazuha and Ran said, they try to say that it had to be another trick by him. But Heiji defends Kazuha's statement saying that the master was indeed in the same place where she saw him.
* Heiji gets frustrated when he can't find Kazuha when they go back to the kitchen to show the girls the picture they took of the master.
* After Heiji assures Kogoro that the girls will be safe, he says in his head that they're to busy making gyoza.
* Heiji starts to fear for Kazuha's safety after they think that the killer is actually Hikaru on a streak of revenge.
* When Heiji and Conan hear Kazuha and Ran scream, they rush to the kitchen and Heiji yells out her name in concern.

* When Kogoro yells at Heiji through the phone if his daughter is alright, Heiji reassures him saying that she's making gyoza with Kazuha in the kitchen.

* After Benkei and his gang were gathered up and arrested, Kazuha runs up to Heiji in relief and Heiji smiles at her as they reunite.
* Heiji corrects her on the mistake she made while she sang the Temari song again at the train station. Then he asks her where she learned the song in the first place.
* Kazuha tells Heiji about the time when they were children and how she had brought him along to go visit her relatives, dressing up in a Kimono and looking for him since he had left before she was finished with her preparations. When she didn't find him at the Castle grounds, she found a ball and began to play with it while singing the song her relatives taught her. With the Cherry Blossoms flying in the air, the whole scene turns out to be what Heiji saw when he woke up after being knocked out.

* Conan goes on to explain that Heiji and Kazuha have two places that they meet when they go out together: if they're taking the MRT they go to Neyagawa Station and if they're riding Heiji's motorcycle they meet up at Tomorogi Greenfield. Since Kazuha thought that they were taking Heiji's motorcycle, she thought they'd meet up at Tomorogi Greenfield instead of taking the MRT at Neyagawa Station.
* Heiji confirms this with a smile, replying that it's always been the same pattern whenever they go out to eat Okonomiyaki together. After his statement though, Heiji gets embarrassed about his dating habits with Kazuha as Conan smiles.
* When Kazuha finally comes up the escalator, Heiji greets her affectionately saying that she finally made it there. Kazuha angrily replies that it's his fault for not being clear with her on where they were going to meet up.
* Before a fight could start between Heiji and Kazuha, Conan comes between them and greets Kazuha as he asks if she'll be eating with them since he missed her. Kazuha happily replies that she will and that she's been wanting to see Conan as well. With a happy hop to her step, Kazuha tells Heiji and Conan to come with her as they finally head onto the MRT.
* Heiji states that Kazuha's mood changed really quickly and Conan replies that it was his fault that she was in a bad mood to begin with.
* While they're riding the MRT, Heiji and Kazuha are having a light hearted conversation as they smile at each other.
* When they finally arrive at Yodoyabashi station, Heiji turns towards Kazuha and tells her that they should take the elevator while Kazuha replies back that they should take the stairs instead.

* When Kazuha comments that Kaoru is a girl with a happy tone, Heiji replies that's obvious since the baby is wearing all pink but he stops in the middle of his sentence after he watches Kazuha interact affectionately with the baby.
* Heiji smiles as Kazuha as she affectionately bounces the baby up and down, saying in a soft voice he comments that she's really good at taking care of babies.
* Kazuha smiles at this compliment saying that Satoshi used to come over to her house as a baby to play as she says to the baby that she's cute.
* Out of nowhere, Kazuha tells Heiji that she wants a baby. Causing Heiji to blush and to call her an idiot as he tells Conan to shut up, who is laughing at the expression on Heiji's face and Kazuha's statement.
* When the mother is late, Kazuha gives the baby over to Heiji telling him that she's gonna go check on her and to not make the baby cry while she's gone.
* When Kazuha comes back, she scolds Heiji for making the baby cry when she told him not to. Heiji defensively replies back that he couldn't help it if she cried or not as he hands the baby back to her.
* After Kazuha calms Kaoru, she tells Heiji that the mother wasn't in the bathroom and Heiji starts to ponder if the mother had abandoned Kaoru to them since she looked to be only 20 years old. To which Kazuha explains that couldn't be the case before Kaoru started to cry again.
* Kazuha tells Heiji that she's going to change her diaper and that he needs to take out a fresh diaper and some wet wipes for her. Heiji complies and hands over the baby supplies to Kazuha as she starts to change Kaoru's diaper.
* After Kazuha takes off the diaper, she informs Heiji that Kaoru is actually a boy. Shocking Heiji and Conan as they lean over to see for themselves.
* Heiji goes on to explain to Kazuha that Kaoru could've been kidnapped by the lady who gave him over for them to watch since she didn't know how to properly dress the baby up as a boy.
* After Heiji, Kazuha, and Conan solve the mystery of the baby Kaoru, Heiji says to Kazuha that nothing beats a happy ending and that he may have read to deeply into the situation. Causing Kazuha to yell at him calling him a crime maniac. But Heiji retorts saying that it was her fault in the first place for agreeing to watch over the baby to begin with. They start having one of their married couple arguments.
* Heiji and Kazuha jog in place and look at each other as a depressed Conan sighs about missing out on his lunch.
* Heiji and Kazuha wave Goodbye to Conan as he leaves with the rest back home to Tokyo with guilty looks on their faces.
* Heiji and Kazuha have a good time together as they eat Okonomiyaki, but Kazuha feels guilty and comments that Conan should be starving by now. Heiji tells her that she shouldn't worry about him since he's probably eating on boxed lunches on the train back home.
* Laughing together, Heiji and Kazuha continue to eat their Okonomiyaki joyfully.
