A recurring joke in Detective Conan is that Agasa's beetle frequently breaks down, often while he and the Detective Boys are on a trip, and then a case occurs wherever they stop. It has a New York state license plate with the number YUK-910 which is a pun on her name Yuk(iko) Ku-do (9-10).

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are invited for a ceremony for a ropeway which is built through a giant Goddess Statue on the mountains by Domoto Guze. They learn that there is a rumor about a curse by the goddess' anger and Kogoro was invited to disprove it. Shizuka Kamiyama the nun was the constant protester of building the ropeway. After riding through the ropeway on the opening day, Domoto, who has disappeared from the ropeway cart, is later found dead on the goddess' hand.

Conan reveals that '''Ayaka Yoshino''' was the murderer, who used Domoto's trick against the news reporters against him. After completing his disappearing trick, he would've disproved of the curse by ruining the newspaper's reputation, but was stabbed. Ayaka reveals that Domoto was the reason that her brother died because he forced his workers to complete the ropeway in a short amount of time and that Domoto attempted to abandon any responsibilities on her mother which she confessed to her in her deathbed. Ayaka then joined the company in order to avenge her mother and brother.
