Mouri has been called to the Sunflower Estate by Ryuichiro Kanazawa,he is called to investigate a stalker who is watching each and every move of the architect. Then after having barbeque, they hear a gunshot they rush to his room and find him dead. Architect Ryuichiro Kanazawa was shot in the head by the murderer, trying to conceal the murder as being done by the victim's stalker from the outside. Was this really the work of the stalker? or is the culprit among the three people!

<spoiler>The culprit is '''Masaya Amamori'''. First, at 7:25 he left the backyard saying he was going for a bit of coal he had already prepared the fishing line and pole you'd hid beforehand and carried out his trick before innocently going back to the party and he employed the newspaper sheets used for the stick to carry the coal. Judging by the length of the wire, the wire remained hooked up for ten minutes. In other words, they heard the gunshot at 7:35 which means the culprit left the party during the ten minute time frame from 7:25. He is the only one that could have done it.

Masaya confesses and reveals none of them knew the real Ryuichiro Kanazawa, that he's certain of that, and revealing the one who designed the Shanghai Museum of Modern Art was actually Masaya Amamori. Then one day, Masaya and Ryuichiro have an arguement about the design and Ryuichiro said, "Are you saying that I stole your design? Don't be so foolish, do you have any proof?" Then Masaya said, "I have always respected you, master!" But then, Ryuichiro said "I will only said this: You do not realize your current position, the design has won the eye of the public thanks to me and my name, if you want to stay here, be very careful about what you say." Then he walked out. At that moment, he swore to himself that he wouldn't allow him to attend the prize ceremony. And reveals that he was the stalker correspond with him.</spoiler>

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan go on a trip as the substitutes for Sonoko and her father, the president Suzuki, and attend a tea meeting at the Aonogi family house. They visit the mansion, backyard included, where there is a pond that shines in five colors, and a bridge which leads to the tea room. While enjoying watching the pond’s colors, the headmaster dies in the tea room, the same way as in an urban legend.

There is a superstition of the pond. They say that it was during the end of the Edo period. Fresh, clean, cold water sprang out from the pond. It was even bigger than it is now. A beautiful girl appeared by the pond. As she played her flute, the color of the pond changed. She entertained the people who came. One day, a rich merchant became interested in the girl, and built a mansion near the pond. She accepted his proposal of marriage with two conditions: that the pond belonged to her, and no one was ever to go in it. Yet, the merchant broke his promise, and made a bedroom in the middle of the pond. In addition, he became angry at his wife who pressed him to clear the room away immediately. He killed her, and drowned her in the pond.

<spoiler>Conan searches for clues to who murdered the headmaster and finally figures out the trick that was used: the killer swam underneath the bridge, stabbed the victim and tied him in a complicated fisherman's knot so that when the waterwheel would turn, the body would be lifted up to the ceiling onto the beam which would make it look like a suicide. The culprit is '''Morio Yakura'''. His motive for killing the headmaster was to stop him from officially announcing that his son, Ryoichi, was going to be the next headmaster. Morio claims the headmaster had betrayed him since they were selling expensive counterfeit ceramics together for the past ten years.</spoiler>
