Resolution
<spoiler>
The invisible man gathers the party guests to the bow of the boat and reveals his identity as Shinichi and declares werewolf as the murderer. He reveals that the werewolf placed his mask on the Mummy to establish his own alibi evidenced when the Werewolf come out of the Mummy's bathroom stall. Shinichi speculates that he obtained sleeping gas from the organization beforehand and drugged the Mummy participant unconscious to perform this trick. To support this, Shinichi points to the fact that the Werewolf claimed he was busy concentrating on staying in character so he could be hired to star in the movie, yet the Mummy participant unknowingly disguised as him was drinking a dry Martini. It is known as a "Silver Bullet" and this object being the only thing that could kill a werewolf brings suspicion to the Werewolf. As evidence, Shinichi reveals that there was glass shards on the balcony where the host was killed and that there should be glass shards between the soles of the Werewolf's shoes. The Werewolf confesses blaming Vermouth for his ordeal and begging for help. He revealed that he expressed sentiments to kill Senzo Fukura on a hate forum because his taking over as the new producer of the "Ghost Captain" movie series completely ruined the show. Vermouth found this post and sent him threatening pictures of his house and family to blackmail him to kill the captain and lure Shinichi from her attempt to murder Haibara. Elsewhere, Haibara is picked up by Jodie while they are followed by Tomoaki Araide.

Jodie confronts Araide at the pier who reveals that it is Vermouth in disguise. Back at the party, Shinichi is revealed to be Heiji in disguise; This was done to distract Vermouth from noticing Conan's absence. Haibara is revealed to be Conan in disguise and attempts to subdue Vermouth. However, the real Haibara arrives at the pier and is narrowly saved from death by Ran's timely appearance. Shuichi Akai's appearance prompts Vermouth to take Conan hostage and flee the scene. Conan reveals to Vermouth he has a covert listening device on him that will send everything that was said to the authorities in the event of his death. Vermouth exhales a sleeping gas on Conan and tells him she will postpone her plan on murdering Haibara for now. Conan awakens to find out the device has been destroyed and no evidence of the Black Organization remain.

Summary<br />
Conan as Shinichi calls Ran but she's got something do and someplace to go. Conan muses that Ran must have something going on, something that's making her happy with anticipation. Hmmm? Next, Kogoro Mouri gets Ran and Conan in the car and drives them to his doctor's office. The doctor had insisted that he bring his family. While they're all in the doctor's home-based office, Ran asks the doctor's wife to use their bathroom. On the way there, she bumps into the doctor's young altruistic and brilliant son, knocks a sheaf of papers from his hands, and experiences a significant touch from his hand to the top of hers when picking up the papers. Later, after accepting an invitation to dinner there, both Kogoro and the doctor's wife suggest that the son, Tomoaki Araide, and Ran marry. They were both enthusiastic about it. Conan was jealous, big time! The doctor gets electrocuted, it's determined to be murder some clues are uncovered.
Yoko Araide and Hikaru go to check on Yoshiteru, and find him dead in the full bathtub with a submerged electric razor.
}}

Conan is quick to discover the cause for Dr. Araide's death: his electric razor has fallen into the filled tub, electrocuting him. Though it seems that Dr. Araide must have dropped the razor himself, Conan notices that some things don't quite add up: Why was Dr. Araide sitting with his back to the mirror mounted at the end of the bathtub when he was shaving? And where did Hikaru get the burn mark on her arm? But what distracts Conan from the case is that Ran and Tomoaki seems strangely drawn to each other, and a disconcerting thought dawns inside him: Could Ran have become interested in Tomoaki now?

Part 2
While Kogoro, Megure, and Takagi test all possible scenarios, Conan discovers several clues missed by the police and adds them up to the solution of the case. And as usual, he stuns Kogoro to use him as a mouthpiece to deliver his conclusions. But Tomoaki vehemently protests the questionings, claiming that none of his family could have done such a thing!
Resolution
<spoiler>
Conan sets a trap for the murderer, who is revealed to be Yoko Araide, Dr. Araide's wife. The trick had involved stealthily putting the razor into the tub during the first short circuit; then, when Hikaru attempted to switch the light back on, Dr. Araide was electrocuted, causing the second power outage. Because Hikaru had thus unintentionally murdered her employer and would as a result break down if she ever learned the truth, Conan (as Kogoro) and Yoko agree to change the details of the procession of events so that Hikaru would never be burdened by her conscience.

Confronted with the tricks she had used, Yoko confesses that she murdered her husband because her predecessor Chiaki, who was also her best friend and also the first wife of her husband, had succumbed to alcoholism and eventually committed suicide because of Dr. Araide's continuous acts of adultery. After Yoko's arrest, Tomoaki and Ran meet one last time. But contrary to Conan's fears, Tomoaki, who had listened into Yoko's confession and the agreement, is merely asking Ran to deliver his apologies to her father, and Ran is asking Tomoaki to borrow her the sweater he is wearing, of which she knits a copies for Shinichi. Eri also asks Ran to give her two hand-knitted sweaters to somebody, which Ran give to her dad and Agasa. Strangely, the one gave to Kogoro has the same pattern as the one to Shinichi/Conan.

Background
Tomoaki Araide is the son of Kogoro Mouri's physician, Yoshiteru Araide, and also on occasion the basketball coach and school medic at Teitan High, the school Shinichi Kudo, Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki attended. Tomoaki had studied at the University of Tokyo; during this time, he had treated a young woman named Hikaru Yasumoto, who was later hired into the Araide household as a maid.

When Yoshiteru Araide invited Kogoro Mouri, his daughter Ran and Conan Edogawa to dinner in his house, Conan noticed that Ran was paying a lot of unusual attention on Araide. The sojourn, however, quickly turned into a murder case as Yoshiteru Araide was found electrocuted in his bathtub. The murderer turned out to be Yoko Araide, Araide's wife and Tomoaki's stepmother, who had avenged the suicide of her dear friend Chiaki (Tomoaki's mother) over her husband's extramarital affairs four years previously. And as it turned out, Ran's attention on Tomoaki was in fact directed at the sweater he was wearing, of which she subsequently made two copies both for her father and Shinichi, who came to wear it still being Conan.

Plot overview
The Unseen Angle of the Darkness (Manga: 234-237, Anime: 170-171)
Kogoro Mouri visits Ariade clinic with Ran and Kogoro in tow to receive the results of his health checkup from his doctor Yoshiteru Araide. Ran is looking for the bathroom when she meets Araide Tomoaki, 25 years old, temporarily working for his father’s clinic until he moves to Beika hospital. Tomoaki Araide’s father was then killed in his bathtub via electrocution. Detective Takagi, Inspector Megure, and other nameless policemen investigate the murder.

Conan investigates and discovers Yoko Araide, Yoshiteru Araide's second wife was the murderer. She caused a blackout to occur while she was supposedly on the phone, and during the ensuing darkness, snuck to the bathtub and put the shaver in the bathtub. She then snuck back and asked the housemaid Hikaru Yasumoto to flip the circuit breaker, causing Yoshiteru Araide to be electrocuted.

The motive was that Dr. Araide’s mom, Chiaki died four years ago, while drunk driving, although she is supposed to have hated alcohol. She left a message to Yoko Araide to “Please take care of Tomoaki. Don’t let him follow his dad.” A journal Yoko found later indicates that Yoshiteru Araide was a flirtatious guy who drove Chiaki to drink. Meanwhile, Ariade becomes very upset that his family is suspected by the police and that a trap was laid (by Conan) to catch the murderer. Araide rushes to the bathroom and overhears “Mouri’s” offer to conceal some of the details of the crime to protect the maid Hikaru’s conscience. This offer proves crucial as Vermouth does not know this detail because the records of investigation were altered to protect the maid’s conscience.

Teitan High School's Ghost Story (Manga: 457-459, Anime: 361-362)
-->Dr. Araide returns and helps with a school ghost mystery case. He seems to only know the basic details of Vermouth's impersonation, which he was the victim of. He states that he was in Japan two years ago when he treated a student who fell down some stairs. Araide attempts to examine “sleeping detective” Sonoko, and is waived off by Conan.

Araide seems surprised when Ran says he is nice and in the end he gets a call from Jodie. Araide says he is surprised how well liked the disguised Vermouth’s Araide was based on the testimony of the students and teachers and asks Jodie if Vermouth is really a bad person. Jodie becomes exceedingly grumpy and yells at Araide that Vermouth was only copying Araide's personality.

The Secret Path to School (Manga: 507, Anime: 428)
A missing girl caught in a hit and run leads the detective boys to Araide’s hospital. Araide then starts raising two stray kittens while seeking new owners for them.

Non-canon depictions
In the OVA story "The Stranger from Ten Years Later", Tomoaki Araide appears to have developed feelings for Ran and proposed to her ten years in the future. Ran, however, rejected him, saying she's willing to wait another ten years for Shinichi's return. However, since this story was all part of a fever hallucination Conan was suffering at that time, it can be dismissed as non-relevant.

Relationships analysis
Family & Friends
Ran Mouri
Araide and Ran Mouri became friends while Araide was acting as a temporary basketball coach in place of a teacher who broke his leg. During "The Unseen Angle of the Darkness" Conan wrongly came to the conclusion that Ran was attracted to Araide. In truth she wanted to borrow his sweater in order to knit a similarly patterned one for Shinichi. Some anime-original features play with the idea that Araide is interested in Ran, most notably in the OVA story The Stranger from Ten Years Later where he proposed to her.
Trivia
* Araide once asks Jodie whether the person who immitate him is really evil, since everybody in the school is talking nicely about him in the past. They are Ran's karate mentor Kazumi Tsukamoto ("You still have that look of an Angel, Dr. Araide"), Kazumi's friend Kunishige Seto ("Before our catious Dr. Araide takes me to the hospital"), the school's principal ("Thanks to the exercise you taught me, my waist feel much better!"), and Ran herself ("Dr. Araide is a truly nice person, right?"). However, this just ended up angering Jodie, who yells at him "How someone be kind if she can kill people while smiling?", because Vermouth's disguise is just perfect.

}}

Resolution
<spoiler>

<spoiler>

Agasa takes the Detective Boys to his uncles house which has been abandoned fifty years ago for a treasure hunt he had set up. Conan finds a 1 yen coin and reveals to Agasa that those coins were not produced until forty years ago and that someone had been living in the abandoned house. Conan investigates and finds evidence that an old man who spent his spare time carving coins lived in the house. Conan notices that someone has drawn strange codes on objects throughout the house. The codes are symbols consisting of the moon, star, and sun. The Detective Boys manage to find their treasure and realize that someone had destroyed them all. Conan deduces that an unknown culprit entered the house in search of some kind of treasure and was angered when Agasa's riddles lead him to a box of toys. Conan and the Detective Boys gather all the objects in the house with the strange codes on them and attempts to solve it. Agasa reveals that his aunt was receiving letters in the same code and that he had Yusaku Kudo decipher the message; He also reveals that when his aunt began receiving those letters, someone was looking through her mail. Conan realizes the symbols refer to Hiragana and that the culprit who was looking through Agasa's aunt's mail is the one who destroyed the toys and is searching for the treasure in the house.
Resolution
<spoiler>
Conan knocks out Kogoro with his stun gun wristwatch and begins to reveal his deductions with the voice changing bowtie. It was no suicide but it was actually a murder. Someone had this planned out right from the beginning. The person could have suggested, something like this to Mishima, that they should put up an act at the party, so that they could give people a scare. For this act, they quarreled before everybody so as to lay the setting for today. The killer is Osamu Honda. Honda first modified two guns of the same model and then prepared two different kind of bullets. First which would be a real bullet, and the other one an empty bullet. The gun that Honda gave to Mishima before the whole thing was the one with the empty bullets. Before the official opening for the party in the morning, Honda met Mishima at the temple and handed over the gun to him and brought the gun that had the real bullets inside. Honda's excuse would be that he needed to check the gun. That means that the gun on Honda's waist is Mishima's gun. The gun that Honda gave to Mishima wasn't sealed at all because he was afraid it would be involved afterwards. Honda chose today when he wasn't wearing Kamen Yaiba costume but wearing a Laser Police costume instead. That's because only the Laser Police bear guns. Also, it wouldn't be strange if he wore a bullet-proof vest. Just when Mishima dashed in, Honda purposely moved a few steps so that the other people wouldn't be caught in the fray. That also let Mishima get a good aim at his target. Mishima had no knowledge of guns when he fired a gun, he should have felt like something was wrong. Honda had considered the gunshot and the movement and has practiced with Mishima. So when Honda saw Mishima being shot down, he misunderstood it, since it had the same effect as when they were practicing. It all went as they had planned beforehand. Mishima didn't commit suicide because when someone who really wanted to commit suicide, would press the gun to his temple and pull the trigger. That way, there should be burn mark on his temple. Mishima doesn't have any burn mark on his temple, because even it was an empty shot, it would have some fireworks. So at that time he didn't want to hurt himself and didn't press the gun against his head. As evidence, the crime scene investigator found that they were other fingerprints on the gun besides Mishima's. The fingerprint and the fingerprint on Genta's Detective Boys Badge (which Conan gave it to the crime scene investigator to check it) is the same. The other fingerprint belongs to Genta. Genta never touched Mishima's gun but why were Genta's fingerprints found on the gun is this what happens: Before Honda went to the party, Conan and the Detective Boys met Honda at the temple. At that time, Genta did touched the gun. That means, that the gun Honda had on was later used by Mishima at the party. It proves that Honda's gun has been swapped with Mishima's.

Some time ago Mishima, who was a Kamen Yaiba fan to the point of mental illness, had stolen Honda's little brother's extremely rare Kamen Yaiba poster while he was riding his motorcycle; the poor boy ran after Mishima's moto and was hit by a truck, dying two days later. In his last words, the younger Honda begged his brother to "capture that Kamen Yaiba".

Honda joined many fan clubs to find who had caused his brother's death. A year and a half after the accident, he found his brother's poster in Mishima's apartment; Mishima himself lied and said it was a gift from his own brother, though Honda knew that Mishima had no siblings. Honda then engineered the meeting of Kamen Yaiba fans to trick the mentally-inbalanced Mishima into first shooting him, then committing suicide under the belief that it was all an act.
