He wonders who it is, and worries that it might be [[Ninzaburo Shiratori]], as, when Sato heard that Shiratori was just promoted to the rank of Police Inspector (despite being so young), she asked jokingly whether Shiratori could add her to the list of people who wished to marry him.
* Shiratori invites Sato out for dinner at a French restaurant after the case is resolved, and is dejected when he gets rejected politely by Sato (her reason is that she does not like the formalities in those restaurants).

* Takagi forgets his handcuffs and says the fortune telling magazine says that he will be super lucky today. It gives Sato flashbacks of the day her father died, when he left home he had forgotten his handcuffs and also said he would be super lucky that day. Sato gives her old, rusty handcuffs to Takagi, telling him they are a memento of her father and that it will sure bring him luck. Shiratori looks decidedly put out.
* Later, Takagi is handcuffed to the windows of an abandoned warehouse that has been set on fire; Sato wants to rush into the warehouse to save Takagi but is stopped by Shiratori and Megure. As bits of the warehouse crumbles, Sato yells out that Takagi is a baka, with tears in her eyes, only to hear Takagi answering her from behind them.
* Takagi has managed to save himself, but was still handcuffed to a metal bar, he collapses from the wound to his head, and Sato notices he has a gun and asks him why he didn't just shoot the handcuffs with his gun. The Detective Boys answer that it must have been because the handcuffs were the memento from Sato's father and he didn't want to damage them.
* Sato holds Takagi's unconscious body, and Shiratori stands to the side with his arms crossed.
* To show her thanks and keep her promise (because Takagi figured out the mystery), she asks what Takagi's wish is, and he says that he wants to go on a date with her. Sato agrees to the date happily, but it ends up being an undercover mission instead.

* As Ran is mulling over her failed attempt to ask about Shinichi's feelings for her, Takagi walks by muttering, "doing it directly is bad..." about his situation with Sato (Ran, Kogoro and Conan do not realize what he is talking about, though).
* A ticket to a magic show drops out of Takagi's jacket, and when asked by Sato, Takagi says that Yumi had an extra ticket and invited him, but that he was not too interested. Takagi's words here are actually pre-meditated, and all this is part of Yumi's plan to test whether Sato likes Takagi. Since Sato's expression does not change when she hears this, and she instead encourages Takagi to go with Yumi, Takagi concludes that Sato has no feelings towards him. He thus becomes very dejected and resigned.
* Later, Takagi gets a phone call from Yumi asking how it has gone, and as it has gone badly and he is additionally in the middle of dealing with an important case, he hangs up quickly shouting for her to call him at a better time.
* After the case is solved Sato approaches Yumi and asks her if she likes Takagi. Yumi is thrown off guard by this question and exclaims loudly, and when Sato pursues, Yumi says that she does not like Takagi at all. Sato remarks that she thought so, and advises Yumi to stop messing with Takagi, as "Takagi has been really troubled ever since he got your tickets to the magic show".
* This interaction makes Yumi believe that Sato does indeed like Takagi. She initially wants to tell Takagi about this to lighten him up, but then changes his mind, as Sato concludes her advice by saying "you should find a man suitable for yourself and enter a serious relationship with him".
* Kogoro, Ran and Conan comment that Sato is in an awfully good mood for someone who just got her pay cut (because a suspect had died in police custody); Conan hypothesizes that "maybe something good happened" (of course, they do not know that Sato's good mood comes from the relief after confirming that Yumi does not like Takagi).

However, he is caught up with a case and doesn't read the message until Conan, (who happens to be there eavesdropping with Araide, Ran and Sonoko at the time) calls him using Shinichi's voice and explains the situation. He also helps Takagi with the case.
* Sato, who had just agreed to the wager, thinks that Takagi will definitely come, and then, blushing, she wonders why she thinks that.
* As the sun is about to set, Sato resigns herself to the deal and thinks herself a failure as a police officer for not realizing until just now how important Takagi has become to her.
* Just as Shiratori is about to seal their deal with a kiss, Conan uses Araide's shadow and his voice-changing bow tie to imitate Takagi's form and voice, stopping the kiss, and thus the deal.
* The real Takagi is waiting outside the house, thinking that he failed to stop the bet, when Sato runs out and gets in his car.

* Sato and Takagi are planning to go on a date, but since Takagi is interrogated on this matter and fails to keep silent, everyone in the first division learns about it, and it seems lots of them have requested days off and reserved binoculars for that day.
* Shiratori proudly tells Yumi that if there is a date between Sato and Takagi, they can rest assured that the date will be spied upon by many police officers, and that he will be in charge of the spying mission.
* Takagi puts on a disguise that reminds Sato of her former colleague [[Matsuda|Jinpei Matsuda]]. Because of the special role that Matsuda plays in Sato's heart, she slaps him and suddenly becomes icy cold towards Takagi (despite the fact that Takagi does not know about Matsuda at all).
* Takagi almost gets blown up and Sato frantically tries to rescue him, not knowing that Takagi is safe, burning her hands in the process. The other infer that she was trying to save both Takagi and Matsuda.
* At the end, Sato apologizes for having slapped Takagi, and Takagi frets over Sato's hands, resulting in them staring into each other's eyes until they pull away, both blushing.
* Sato says everyone she has ever cared about deeply has died, and that therefore it would be better if she and Takagi went back to just being colleagues. Takagi does not have the courage to say otherwise, so agrees after a while. Sato walks away sadly as Takagi stares after her and Yumi and the Detective Boys watch in the background, apparently disappointed.

* Near the end of the case, Sato begins to cry on Takagi's shoulder saying that she wants to forget Matsuda, and after Takagi tells her she should not forget (as that would mean that Matsuda is really dead), Sato becomes deeply touched, and the two nearly kiss. * Takagi and Sato are going on their very first date at the Tropical Marine Land, and Shiratori (as he once said he would) is leading a large group of police officers equipped with cameras, binoculars and camouflage to spy on and sabotage the date.
* Shiratori is not shy to use rather extreme methods for disruption, for example making police officers smear the police (in general) so that Sato would get angry, and giving the Detective Boys tickets to Tropical Marine Land and leading them to Takagi and Sato so that they would have to take care of them.
* Agasa was initially accompanying the Detective Boys, but Shiratori asks him to go home to confirm some details in a previous case, thus ensuring that the Detective Boys would never leave Takagi and Sato.
* Takagi thinks that the Detective Boys are a burden, as he has bought a ring for Sato and wants to take the opportunity to give it to her. Sato does not mind, though, and jokes that Takagi can view it as preparation of what comes when they have a baby.
* Before Takagi is able to give the ring to Sato, his bag has been switched with that of a drug dealer's; that bag is full of cocaine. So now Takagi is dragged into a case (on top of all the other troubles that Takagi is facing). Eventually the bag drops into a river and the ring is lost.
* Sato makes Takagi promise that he will never go away and leave her.
* Conan thinks to himself that although Takagi lost his ring, he has gained something much more precious.

* Sato sternly orders Takagi to get into her car, so Takagi wonders if he did something wrong. He starts worrying and even thinks she is going to break up with him. However, when he opens the door and a toy snake leaps out, scaring him, Sato starts laughing, commenting that the trick worked perfectly. Takagi is relieved and they flirt cutely (Chiba and Shiratori are actually watching them the entire time).
* The police department is led to believe that Takagi will be sent to Tottori to deal with a complex case. This makes them ecstatic, as, in this way, Takagi will be staying away from Sato for a long time (perhaps a few years). Takagi is disappointed that Sato seems to be indifferent, even asking for twentieth century pears while Yumi burst into tears.
* While investigating the case, Takagi yells, "I am definitely not going to find another woman! Definitely not!" when he overhears the Detective Boys chatting about Hide (the soccer player) leaving the country and finding a girlfriend as he thought they were talking about him. When he realizes that this is not the case, he is quite embarrassed.
* Takagi is upset that Sato still has not shown any emotion about his leaving Tokyo, but when Sato falls for her own trick with the toy snake, she is silent and appears upset. Then, she suddenly asks Takagi to swear that even if there are cute female police officers in Tottori, he will stay loyal to her. Takagi does exactly this.
* Right after Takagi blurts that he wants to be engaged with Sato before he leaves, Megure informs them that it is actually Chosuke Takagi who is being sent away, and not Wataru.
*Sato, who is blushing a lot, asks what Takagi just said, but he quickly changes the subject and says that they should go to karaoke with the kids. Takagi is shown sighing at the karaoke with Conan and Ai watching him.

* The Detective Boys run into Takagi as he enters into a jewelry shop to buy a brooch for Sato (he is doing so because Yumi claimed that when Sato saw the brooch on a magazine, she stared at it for a long time). The jewelry is subsequently robbed, and the robber took the brooch.
* Shiratori heckles him about the jewelry shop visit and the brooch.
* After solving the case, Takagi is able to retrieve the brooch from the culprit's coat. Sato remarks that Yumi once told her that she liked the brooch, and that since she does not like flashy things, she would lend jewelries to Yumi. This makes it clear that Yumi is just using Sato's popularity to trick male police officers into indirectly buying her things that she wants.
* Yumi mentions that she plans to continue doing this, and that her next victim will be Assistant Inspector Takano.

* When it dawns on Conan what is going on, he calls Takagi, who admits that a few days ago, he was doing a stakeout, and wrote "Takagi Miwako" on the glass and forgot to wipe it up. In short, he wrote what Sato's name would be if they were to marry.
* By the time that Conan sees the glass, the "ta", "ka" and "ko" (た、か、こ) have disappeared.

* In the middle of the case, Sato and Takagi get into a jealous quarrel.
* After the case is solved, Takagi and Sato come together to resolve the slightly awkward situation, and they come to the conclusion that neither has done anything wrong, and that just like winning lottery, them meeting at the same Toulon is something very unlikely. Takagi thus mentions that he has never won the lottery.
* Sato, upon hearing Takagi's words, asks whether getting her would count as winning the lottery. Takagi, of course, says that Sato is a super win ticket. The two then nearly kiss, before being reminded that Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are still in the backseat.

* Later in the case, Sato switches places with Yumi to protect her from the culprit (i.e. the groom himself). She tries to arrest the groom as he escapes, but then mistakenly pins Takagi down to the ground (since the groom looks a lot like Takagi); the groom is instead taken down by Ran.
* It turns out that a witness to Sato's "assault" on Takagi is a famous photographer. So, it is not surprising that sometime later, while walking on the streets, the police officers see the picture that he took of Sato pinning Takagi down in a commercial ad. Sato and Takagi are embarrassed, and Chiba slyly tells Shiratori that taking the ad down would constitute a crime.

* Takagi (and the rest of the first division) notice the sudden appearance of a ring on Sato's left hand. Takagi's colleagues initially thought that it was his ring, but is turns out that Takagi is equally confused and annoyed.
* Ran congratulates Takagi on his engagement to Sato, and is shocked when Takagi tells her that the ring is not from him. He says that he feels like he is on a tightrope with Sato (this turns out to be a useful hint that helps Conan solve the case).
* It turns out that Sato was just wearing it as a charm. Takagi, summoning all his bravery, asks Sato to wear the ring that he has bought for her. Sato agrees, but because she still thinks it is but a charm.

* Takagi and Sato are on a stakeout mission when Sato says suddenly “give me a hot kiss right now!”. Takagi is greatly surprised by this but complies, but before their lips can meet, they are interrupted by Conan, who points out that they are pretending to be lovers so that the suspect that they are spying on would not grow suspicious (Conan is then scolded by Sonoko, as she is supportive of the relationship as well).
* Later, during the investigation of the suspect's mansion, they both trip in the bathroom. They end up face to face, staring into each others' eyes while blushing, until Conan coughs and interrupts them again.
* Takagi keeps thinking back to the almost kiss, and gets jealous and furious at Chiba over the fact that Sato also pulled the "appear as lovers, pretend to kiss" ploy with him on previous stakeouts (Chiba told Takagi that he would never forget that “soft feeling”, and Takagi mistakenly thought that Chiba was referring to Sato's lips).
* Later, Takagi realizes that Sato only asked Chiba to hold her hands, and that she asked Takagi to kiss her only because it was him.
* Wanting Sato to do the same again, Takagi suddenly become very enthusiastic about stakeout missions with Sato. However, there are other officers in the first division named Sato, and not informing himself before signing up for the stakeout leads to Takagi ending up doing stakeouts with a mid-aged man.

* Sato tells Takagi that if he manages to solve the case, she will go with him to the new hot springs place, and this motivates Takagi to takes up a more active role in the investigation. Sato, however, begins to worry when she hears from Matsumoto that this is a very bad signal and that such reckless behavior is likely to trigger Takagi's death in the line of duty. She is even reminded of her father and Jinpei Matsuda.
* Takagi is captured by the culprit, and then receives a cellphone call from Sato. The culprit deduces that Sato is Takagi's girlfriend and tries to force him to reply so that Sato could be lured to him for the culprit to take her as hostage. Takagi, not wanting to put Sato in danger, breaks said cellphone instead, winks to the culprit and tells him “guess I will be your only hostage now.”
* A few minutes later, the police is notified of Takagi's situation, and officers are dispatched to break into the culprit's house to save Takagi. Takagi
mistakenly believes that Sato is among them, and he fears that when she rushes in, the culprit would open fire on her. For this reason, he tries to take the culprit down by himself (despite being injured and having no weapons on himself); he ends up being shot, but luckily is able to survive, and the officers rushing in after hearing the gunshot are able to apprehend the culprit without being injured themselves.
* Sato is crushed when she believes Takagi has died, and then is greatly relieved when Shiratori tells her that he is actually alive. She rushes towards Takagi's room, and Takagi complains that he now cannot go to the new hot springs place, and that every kissing occasion that arose ended up being interrupted.
* Sato thus kisses Takagi on the spot. The Detective Boys witness this scene and ward off Matsumoto and others, who are about to enter the room to see how Takagi is recovering.

Sato misinterprets Takagi's words and responds that if he is going to the convenience store to buy Bento, it would be great if he buy hers one as well. This leaves Takagi slightly dejected and Chiba amused.

Takagi points out that it was only pocky and that Sato had already eaten some beforehand. After Shiratori drives by with a carload of gifts for Sumiko, Sato throws Takagi a sour look.
* Later on, Sato is trying to focus and trying to forget something ominous her friend told her that will happen if her boyfriend does not give her return candy.
* After the case is solved, Takagi tricks Sato into opening the glove compartment of her car, which is where he hid the return gift. Sato becomes extremely happy with this turn of events, while Takagi remarks that he put the gift inside 3 days beforehand.

The culprit deduces that Sato is Takagi's girlfriend and tries to force him to reply so that Sato could be lured to him for the culprit to take her as hostage. Takagi, not wanting to put Sato in danger, breaks said cellphone instead, winks to the culprit and tells him “guess I will be your only hostage now.”
* A few minutes later, the police is notified of Takagi's situation, and officers are dispatched to break into the culprit's house to save Takagi. Takagi
mistakenly believes that Sato is among them, and he fears that when she rushes in, the culprit would open fire on her. For this reason, he tries to take the culprit down by himself (despite being injured and having no weapons on himself); he ends up being shot, but luckily is able to survive, and the officers rushing in after hearing the gunshot are able to apprehend the culprit without being injured themselves.
* Sato is crushed when she believes Takagi has died, and then is greatly relieved when Shiratori tells her that he is actually alive. She rushes towards Takagi's room, and Takagi complains that he now cannot go to the new hot springs place, and that every kissing occasion that arose ended up being interrupted.
* Sato thus kisses Takagi on the spot. The Detective Boys witness this scene and ward off Matsumoto and others, who are about to enter the room to see how Takagi is recovering.

* Later, Takagi gets a phone call from Yumi asking how it has gone, and as it has gone badly and he is additionally in the middle of dealing with an important case, he hangs up quickly shouting for her to call him at a better time.
* After the case is solved Sato approaches Yumi and asks her if she likes Takagi. Yumi is thrown off guard by this question and exclaims loudly, and when Sato pursues, Yumi says that she does not like Takagi at all. * Shiratori is not shy to use rather extreme methods for disruption, for example making police officers smear the police (in general) so that Sato would get angry, and giving the Detective Boys tickets to Tropical Marine Land and leading them to Takagi and Sato so that they would have to take care of them.
* Agasa was initially accompanying the Detective Boys, but Shiratori asks him to go home to confirm some details in a previous case, thus ensuring that the Detective Boys would never leave Takagi and Sato.
* Takagi thinks that the Detective Boys are a burden, as he has bought a ring for Sato and wants to take the opportunity to give it to her. Sato does not mind, though, and jokes that Takagi can view it as preparation of what comes when they have a baby.
* Before Takagi is able to give the ring to Sato, his bag has been switched with that of a drug dealer's; that bag is full of cocaine. So now Takagi is dragged into a case (on top of all the other troubles that Takagi is facing). Eventually the bag drops into a river and the ring is lost.
* Sato makes Takagi promise that he will never go away and leave her.
* Conan thinks to himself that although Takagi lost his ring, he has gained something much more precious.

Takagi is relieved and they flirt cutely (Chiba and Shiratori are actually watching them the entire time).
* The police department is led to believe that Takagi will be sent to Tottori to deal with a complex case. This makes them ecstatic, as, in this way, Takagi will be staying away from Sato for a long time (perhaps a few years). Takagi is disappointed that Sato seems to be indifferent, even asking for twentieth century pears while Yumi burst into tears.
* While investigating the case, Takagi yells, "I am definitely not going to find another woman! Definitely not!" when he overhears the Detective Boys chatting about Hide (the soccer player) leaving the country and finding a girlfriend as he thought they were talking about him. When he realizes that this is not the case, he is quite embarrassed.
* Takagi is upset that Sato still has not shown any emotion about his leaving Tokyo, but when Sato falls for her own trick with the toy snake, she is silent and appears upset. Then, she suddenly asks Takagi to swear that even if there are cute female police officers in Tottori, he will stay loyal to her. Takagi does exactly this.
* Right after Takagi blurts that he wants to be engaged with Sato before he leaves, Megure informs them that it is actually Chosuke Takagi who is being sent away, and not Wataru.
*Sato, who is blushing a lot, asks what Takagi just said, but he quickly changes the subject and says that they should go to karaoke with the kids. Takagi is shown sighing at the karaoke with Conan and Ai watching him.

This makes it clear that Yumi is just using Sato's popularity to trick male police officers into indirectly buying her things that she wants.

She is even reminded of her father and Jinpei Matsuda.
* Takagi is captured by the culprit, and then receives a cellphone call from Sato. The culprit deduces that Sato is Takagi's girlfriend and tries to force him to reply so that Sato could be lured to him for the culprit to take her as hostage. Takagi, not wanting to put Sato in danger, breaks said cellphone instead, winks to the culprit and tells him “guess I will be your only hostage now.”
* A few minutes later, the police is notified of Takagi's situation, and officers are dispatched to break into the culprit's house to save Takagi. Takagi
mistakenly believes that Sato is among them, and he fears that when she rushes in, the culprit would open fire on her. For this reason, he tries to take the culprit down by himself (despite being injured and having no weapons on himself); he ends up being shot, but luckily is able to survive, and the officers rushing in after hearing the gunshot are able to apprehend the culprit without being injured themselves.
* Sato is crushed when she believes Takagi has died, and then is greatly relieved when Shiratori tells her that he is actually alive. * While on vacation in Izu, Shizuoka, Sonoko is hit upon by a rather handsome college student named Tadahiko Michiwaki. Conan watches them converse in disbelief; he thought that nobody would like Sonoko.
* Makoto makes his debut in the series as a waiter to Sonoko, Conan, Ran, and Michiwaki, who a while ago asked Sonoko to have lunch with him (Sonoko agreed, but she was not confident enough to go alone).
* Makoto puts Michiwaki's beer down on the table with a loud bang, and then, rudely, orders him not to leave his cigarette's ashes on the floor. Later, Makoto abruptly comes in between Sonoko and Michiwaki to serve the fried noodles that he ordered. He then rudely tells them to wrap up quickly, as "there are a lot of customers waiting to eat".
* At the Karawuya Hotel, as the trio waits for Michiwaki to show up for dinner, Makoto appears next to Sonoko, and leaves an umbrella next to her, telling her that she can use it if she needs to (it is raining outside).
* After Sonoko is assaulted, Makoto quickly arrives at her room, and begins berating her for wearing revealing clothing, which, in his belief, contributed to the attack. He then persuades her and the others to change their room and stay at the hotel for dinner, since it is dangerous outside.
* At dinner, Makoto tells Sonoko that the meal for her and her friends, is free. In exchange, they are not to tell anyone about the assault (Makoto is probably worried about he hotel's reputation here).
* The next morning, Makoto follows the gang to a popular restaurant. After Conan notices Michiwaki's car rolling down the hill, with a sleepy Sonoko inside, Makoto quickly follows Conan and Ran outside in order to help Sonoko, but he is stopped by the staff at the restaurant, who demands that he pays his bill first.
* An angered Makoto demands an answer from Michiwaki as to why he did not put an emergency brake on his car, which could have killed Sonoko.
* As Michiwaki is about to kill Sonoko, Makoto comes to her rescue, and proceeds to cooly defeat the crazed murderer with his superb karate skills. Sonoko learns that he was following her to make sure she would not get hurt (Makoto noticed that Michiwaki had talked to a few other girls before Sonoko met him).
* Sonoko asks him why he would do all this for a total stranger, and Makoto reveals that he developed feelings for her when he saw her cheering with all her energy for Ran in a karate tournament. Before Makoto leaves, he says the words that make the young girl's face instantaneously turn neon pink. They are as follows:

* At the end of the episode, Makoto arrives at the mountain villa, jealous, to see who the chocolates are for; in the process, he successfully knocks down two armed killers, thus saving Sonoko and the others from danger.

* Sonoko, Ran and Conan get involved in a murder case in those mountains and while Conan is able to determine the culprit, he cannot deal with the gang of which the culprit is a leader, and neither can Ran. During the fight between Ran and the gang, she gets injured and is gradually overpowered; Sonoko screams for help, and Makoto shows up right at this moment, and he is able to easily defeat the rest of the gang.

* Sonoko, after knowing that Makoto will be defending the jewel alone, makes a deal with Kaito Kid. She will allow Kid to impersonate her during his mission (in order to test whether Makoto can distinguish between the real and the fake Sonoko), and in return, Kid is not to harm Makoto (as he has an upcoming karate tournament).
* Makoto manages to recognize that the impersonated Sonoko is fake. Upon asking him, he blushes shyly and says that Kid's ring finger is longer than his index finger, unlike Sonoko. Sonoko is reasonably disappointed by this explanation.
* Makoto also manages to guard the jewel, and Tomoko fulfills her promises and lets him continue his relationship with Sonoko. She remarks that he will be an easy target of bullying.

Despite her adult age, Yukiko still behaves like a teenager. She is bubbly, overconfident and attention-seeking, and prefers to stand in the lime-light (literally) whenever possible. She can be prone to jealousy over Yusaku's occasionally flirtatious behavior, and can demonstrate impulsive tendencies. She is an extremely reckless driver and very sensitive about her age: whenever her son ''dares'' to call her "oba-san" in Japanese (in English, the closest equivalent would be "aunt" or "old lady"), she sets up such a furious face that Conan must quickly correct himself by calling her "onee-san" ("older sister" or "young girl"). She is also likes to stay trendy and dresses more youthfully.

But Conan refuses, and they agree to let him deal with this case. Yukiko (as Fumiyo) brings Conan back to the Mouris and give Kogoro a bank book with money to care for Conan with.

Not much is known about Yusaku and Yukiko's backstory before they get married. The most notable scene was from 20 years ago, when Yusaku and Yukiko met in a high end restaurant. Yusaku observed a murder crime, quickly solved it and suddenly proposed to a startled Yukiko, which she accepted. Yukiko can be really angry with Yusaku if he has flirtatious behavior, but they truly love each other.

==== Conan Edogawa / Shinichi Kudo ====
Shinichi is her son. When Shinichi was shrunk into Conan, Yukiko staged a fake kidnapping scheme with Yusaku and Professor Agasa to make Shinichi realize the danger of the organization he was trying to investigate. As a mother, she truly cares for his wellbeing (sometimes too much, much to Conan's annoyance) and assisted him when it comes to cases. Nevertheless, their relationship is quite dynamic: Yukiko enjoys teasing Shinichi/Conan; in addition, she sometimes disguises to fool him. In return, Conan often makes sarcastic remarks about Yukiko being old (obasa-san) and retired for many years, which earned him death glares and even physical blows from Yukiko.

20 years ago from the current timeline, she and Eri were rivals in Miss Teitan, a beauty contest that shook the country. Yukiko had a charming beauty that attracted men, while Eri had a more bookish look, relying her advantage on academic talents. The vote was split at 20000 votes for each before the competition was canceled, with [[Mouri Kogoro]] having the last uncounted ticket.

In later years, despite their previous intense competition, the two are actually in good terms with each other, supporting the other party emotionally. On relationships of their children, Shinichi and Ran, Yukiko shows her full support, at one point even calls Ran her future daughter in law; however, Eri is more reluctant. Eri doesn't like Yukiko's hand off approach with Shinichi and constantly reminds Ran to be beware of Shinichi, remarking on her rocky marriage as reference.

==== Ran Mouri ====
Yukiko treats [[Ran]] like her own daughter in law, and often teases her about her romantic relationship with Shinichi. She is also able to read through her thoughts; in episode 96, when Ran suspected that Conan is Shinichi. Despite that Yukiko covered for Conan telling Ran that Conan is a smart kid who learnt deductive skills from Shinichi, Yukiko found the last smile that Ran made was a bit weird, realising that the girl wasn't convinced about Yukiko's answer; which turned out to be true in the [[Desperate Revival]] arc.

==== Shuichi Akai ====
Yukiko helped Shuichi Akai go into hiding after he faked his death. She taught him how to disguise himself and cooking. While faithful to and in love with her husband, she has openly commented on finding Shuichi very handsome, to which she likes visiting him every week.

====Hiroshi Agasa====
One of Yukiko Kudo's Friend. In the past few years, the Kudo Family grew closer with their neighbor, Professor Hiroshi, who is making fancy gadgets and inventions.
After Shinichi shrunk into Conan, Yukiko entrusted him the task of looking after her son for the meantime while they work overseas.

==== Kogoro Mouri ====
One of Yukiko Kudo's Friend. In High School, Yukiko and her childhood friend Eri Kisaki were involved in a "Miss Teitan High School" Pageant where the winner gets determined by the number of their votes. However, due to the carelessness of Kogoro, he had forgotten to vote thus tying the two contestants. It was later discovered that due to his clumsiness, Kogoro thought that the "Miss" meant "Mistake" and was going to vote for Eri as a result of that misconception, much to Eri's anger later on.
When Ran questioned his father about the individual he would vote for, Kogoro, despite knowing the true nature of the pageant, still voted for Yukiko and complimented her as "pretty", making Eri and Ran upset and angry.

Conan noticed that the plot is very similar to an unpublished novel written by his father that had been stolen ten years before. However, unable to contact Yusaku Kudo, Conan takes the case into his own hands, and finds his mother on the train.

Conan reveals to the suspicious woman that he knows her identity - it is Yukiko Kudo, his mother, in disguise. As they discuss the case, Kogoro calls all the passengers to witness his inaccurate deduction, enabling Conan to figure out the trick. However, a worried Conan recalls that in the novel, the detective boy who solved the case was murdered by the trap he set for the criminal. Yukiko volunteers to act as a decoy to help him find the proof.

Yusaku appears just in time and reveals the trick and his own identity to the criminal, who had idolized his work. The culprit is '''Toshinori Kaetsu'''.

Kaetsu dressed like Asama and made people believe that he jump off the train by using his fishing equipment. First, he hit Asama in the head until he died and broke the window using silenced gun. Then, he put the fishing line through the belt loop on the back of his pants and hung him outside the window. He tied the side of the fishing line to the pulley and the other to something stable outside the room. Lastly, he used another fishing line, looped one end, and put a piece of tape through it. He passed the other end into the lock and tied the end to the line he cut. After that, he went to the lobby car, shot Izumo, and ran back to Asama's room. He opened the door and fired some shots to make people believe he shattered the window then. He saw Kogoro and the conductors following him, so he shot at them. While they were shielding themselves from the bullets, he went to hide himself next to the stairs and cut the fishing line to release the string from the pulley so the corpse will be released. When the line was cut, the corpse would drag the fishing line tied to the door down. The dragging force released the tape but the inertia made the door close completely. He used this trick to framed Asama on the murder of Izumo. He chose to operate in the tunnel in the middle of the night because he didn't want people off the train to see the corpse hanging off. Also, the hallway was dark so no one would see the fishing line tied to the room. Lastly, he put sleeping pills in his wife's dinner box so she couldn't hear the gunshot. The shirt the criminal used is found on his luggage together with the disguise outfit. This is the evidence that he is really the culprit.

Kaetsu admitted the two murders and revealed he imitated the unpublished novel of a famous novelist that he likes. He, Asama and a female accomplice were members of the robbing gang. It is the accomplice who is his girlfriend dies of over consume drugs. Kaetsu left the gang and planned to avenge both Asuma for forcing his girlfriend to over consume drugs and Izumo for selling his girlfriend drugs. He had Asama rob Izumo's jewelry store but Izumo didn't know anything, he pressed the alert bell and Asama escaped. He later planned to have both Izumo and Asama to take the overnight North Star Express. Yusaku asks if he follows the incomplete novel of Yusaku and uses it to construct the murders, much to Kaetsu's surprise until Yusaku reveals himself to be the author of that unfished novel. After being convinced by Yusaku, Kaetsu surrendered. Yusaku and Yukiko flew back to Los Angeles.

Despite her then-tender years as a student at Teitan High, Yukiko had a prospectively prosperous future in the film industry.<ref>Manga Chapter 414: Mama's Rival!?</ref> Thus it came as a major surprise to the world when, practically out of the blue, she married [[Yusaku Kudo]] and retired from acting.<ref>Manga Chapter 260: The Memorable Place</ref> She still retains good contacts in the acting and film industry, however, and has since become known as the "Night Baroness" (named after one of her husband's characters) after babbling out some clues provided by Yusaku on a live television show which helped solve a criminal case.<ref>Manga Chapter 342: Golden Apple 2</ref>

Despite her adult age, Yukiko still behaves like a teenager. She is bubbly, overconfident and attention-seeking, and prefers to stand in the lime-light (literally) whenever possible. She can be prone to jealousy over Yusaku's occasionally flirtatious behavior, and can demonstrate impulsive tendencies. She is an extremely reckless driver and very sensitive about her age: whenever her son ''dares'' to call her "oba-san" in Japanese (in English, the closest equivalent would be "aunt" or "old lady"), she sets up such a furious face that Conan must quickly correct himself by calling her "onee-san" ("older sister" or "young girl"). She is also likes to stay trendy and dresses more youthfully.

However, despite her faults, Yukiko is extremely loyal and cares for both her husband and her son (though a heavy streak of mischief causes her to often tease Shinichi). Yukiko is a fairly tall and fair-skinned woman. She has bright-blue eyes long wavy light-brown hair that curls at the ends with shorter bangs that part to the left to frame her forehead. She is slender yet curvaceous and well-endowed in built, she is considered very beautiful and admired by most men. She has been well-known for her stunning beauty since high school, where she was only ever rivaled by in looks by Eri Mouri. A woman who doesn't accept aging gracefully, she will commonly dressed in attire more commonly seen by women in their twenties.

Very persuasive, she as a talent for reading a person's nature and adapting her nature to make them more compliment.

Yukiko is an exceptional actress, having earned world-wide fame and various prestigious awards when only a teenager. Showing her talent since high school for it, Yukiko has an uncanny ability to perfectly adapt herself to what ever character she chooses. She can effortlessly change her mannerisms and speech-patterns, as well as accent and dialect, to suit the situation. Expanding upon this and learned from [[Toichi Kuroba]], she became a master of disguise. Much like her former friend, Vermouth, with only minimum preparation required, she can perfectly change her appearance or that of others to perfectly look like virtually anyone. Her performance is able to easily fool even close friends and family. At the same time, her skill in disguise is limited vocally, as she is unable to mimic male voices. As such, she normally takes on personas of non-existent people or simple cover-ups to conceal her identity, which her son usually is able to see through.

Yukiko first appearance was disguised as Fumiyo (Fanny in the [[Funimation]] Dub) Edogawa, a woman claiming to be Conan's mom. She and Yusaku pulled a con upon their son to convince him that his hunt for the organization is too dangerous and tried to convince him to come with them abroad. But Conan refuses, and they agree to let him deal with this case. Yukiko (as Fumiyo) brings Conan back to the Mouris and give Kogoro a bank book with money to care for Conan with.

Knowing that Conan(Kudo Shinichi) is going to take the antidote for apotoxin 4869 that is intended for his return trip, Yukiko Kudo and Yusaku Kudo were asked by Haibara to go to London and bring a spare antidote.

Yukiko turns out to be the lady who had been visiting [[Subaru Okiya]] at the Kudo house. On the Bell Tree express, with Conan and Subaru's help, she foiled [[Rei Furuya|Bourbon]] and [[Vermouth]]'s plans to capture and kill [[Shiho Miyano]] respectively while also tricking the [[Black Organization]] (except for Vermouth) into thinking Sherry died. Her part of the plan involved removing Haibara from danger when she tried to run away, and then challenging Vermouth in order to draw her attention. Yukiko then kept Vermouth occupied, so that she was unaware that she was being tricked until it was too late. At the same time, Yukiko also extracted a promise from Vermouth that she would truly give up on trying to kill Sherry.

Not much is known about Yusaku and Yukiko's backstory before they get married. The most notable scene was from 20 years ago, when Yusaku and Yukiko met in a high end restaurant. Yusaku observed a murder crime, quickly solved it and suddenly proposed to a startled Yukiko, which she accepted. Yukiko can be really angry with Yusaku if he has flirtatious behavior, but they truly love each other.

==== Conan Edogawa / Shinichi Kudo ====
Shinichi is her son. When Shinichi was shrunk into Conan, Yukiko staged a fake kidnapping scheme with Yusaku and Professor Agasa to make Shinichi realize the danger of the organization he was trying to investigate. As a mother, she truly cares for his wellbeing (sometimes too much, much to Conan's annoyance) and assisted him when it comes to cases. Nevertheless, their relationship is quite dynamic: Yukiko enjoys teasing Shinichi/Conan; in addition, she sometimes disguises to fool him. In return, Conan often makes sarcastic remarks about Yukiko being old (obasa-san) and retired for many years, which earned him death glares and even physical blows from Yukiko.

20 years ago from the current timeline, she and Eri were rivals in Miss Teitan, a beauty contest that shook the country. Yukiko had a charming beauty that attracted men, while Eri had a more bookish look, relying her advantage on academic talents. The vote was split at 20000 votes for each before the competition was canceled, with [[Mouri Kogoro]] having the last uncounted ticket.

In later years, despite their previous intense competition, the two are actually in good terms with each other, supporting the other party emotionally. On relationships of their children, Shinichi and Ran, Yukiko shows her full support, at one point even calls Ran her future daughter in law; however, Eri is more reluctant. Eri doesn't like Yukiko's hand off approach with Shinichi and constantly reminds Ran to be beware of Shinichi, remarking on her rocky marriage as reference.

==== Ran Mouri ====
Yukiko treats [[Ran]] like her own daughter in law, and often teases her about her romantic relationship with Shinichi. She is also able to read through her thoughts; in episode 96, when Ran suspected that Conan is Shinichi. Despite that Yukiko covered for Conan telling Ran that Conan is a smart kid who learnt deductive skills from Shinichi, Yukiko found the last smile that Ran made was a bit weird, realising that the girl wasn't convinced about Yukiko's answer; which turned out to be true in the [[Desperate Revival]] arc.

==== Shuichi Akai ====
Yukiko helped Shuichi Akai go into hiding after he faked his death. She taught him how to disguise himself and cooking. While faithful to and in love with her husband, she has openly commented on finding Shuichi very handsome, to which she likes visiting him every week.

====Hiroshi Agasa====
One of Yukiko Kudo's Friend. In the past few years, the Kudo Family grew closer with their neighbor, Professor Hiroshi, who is making fancy gadgets and inventions.
After Shinichi shrunk into Conan, Yukiko entrusted him the task of looking after her son for the meantime while they work overseas.

==== Kogoro Mouri ====
One of Yukiko Kudo's Friend. In High School, Yukiko and her childhood friend Eri Kisaki were involved in a "Miss Teitan High School" Pageant where the winner gets determined by the number of their votes. However, due to the carelessness of Kogoro, he had forgotten to vote thus tying the two contestants. It was later discovered that due to his clumsiness, Kogoro thought that the "Miss" meant "Mistake" and was going to vote for Eri as a result of that misconception, much to Eri's anger later on.
When Ran questioned his father about the individual he would vote for, Kogoro, despite knowing the true nature of the pageant, still voted for Yukiko and complimented her as "pretty", making Eri and Ran upset and angry.

The name Yukiko Fujimine ({{lang|ja|藤峰}}) name comes from [[Lupin III]] character [[Fujiko Mine|'''Fuji'''ko '''Mine''']] and actress [[Wikipedia:二階堂有希子|"Yukiko" Nikaido]] (the original voice of Fujiko). Her alias, "Fumiyo" ({{lang|ja|文代}}), comes from Fumiyo Akechi, wife of [[Rampo Edogawa]]'s [[Kogoro Akechi]].
