<spoiler>
Yoko Sawaki killed Nakamoto because 26 years ago he kidnapped and killed her older brother. Due to lack of evidence, the police was forced to released Nakamoto as the only witness was her who was only 6 years old at that time. She confessed to Conan that she wished there was a person like him in the police so that her brother wouldn't have died in vain. Yoko then turned herself in with Conan speculating that the reason she used Ayumi as a witness is because she wanted either Kogoro or Conan to find out the truth, which is what she wanted 26 years ago.</spoiler>
The killer was Juzo Tonoyama, and Yayoi was "the other woman" in his marriage. She apparently didn't know that Tonoyama was a married man so she angrily started to demand for marriage, and he decided to kill her before his wife found out she was cheated on. In his anger, Tonoyama attacked Eri but she used judo to pin him down, which allows the police to catch him.

After that, Conan uses his child-like looks to try to force Wakaoji to reveal that he wanted to have sex with the girl he was waiting for, thinking said girl was Ran. To his surprise, it wasn't Ran... but it was someone they knew: Sonoko, who angrily calls him out. Conan is confused, and then Ran and Eri meet up. Eri lectures Ran on her too short miniskirt and she calls her "mom", sending Conan into a shock.
Kogoro is recommended by someone to a wealthy family for a routine assignment; the man wishes to find his first love. With the police roaming around the house, though, Conan begins to wonder if that's really all there is to it. His answer comes when suddenly, the son of the wealthy man supposedly kills his child hood friend. Later they celebrate the chairman's birthday, then Nobuko became very angry at Miyuki and goes out of the room. Later they receive a call from Mitsuaki, that he was attacked by a man wrapped with bandages. Later, they saw Hideomi holding a knife in his mouth, and found Mitsuaki stabbed through the spike fence.
Resolution
<spoiler>
The culprit is Miyuki Hyoga. She found out that the fire that killed her parents years ago was started by Mitsuaki Nagato, with Hideomi Nagato as a reluctant co-conspirator. She tricks Mitsuaki by luring him with a plan to murder Chairman Nagato, since Mitsuaki coveted the Chairman's position, only to push him off the balcony to his death. The Hideomi that appeared to throughout the episode were actually either Mitsuaki or Miyuki in disguise, as the real Hideomi had killed himself the day before and left behind a suicide note revealing the truth of the fire. When everything is revealed, Miyuki tried to commit suicide with a firelighter and gasoline that she had hidden inside a geyser, but fails because Conan, having discovered the gasoline earlier, replaced it. Chairman Nagato talks Miyuki out of suicide by revealing that he knew her mother, mentioning that the pen she always carried with her was actually a gift he gave to her mother when they were children. Conan later reveals to Heiji that Miyuki's mother was actually Chairman Nagato's first crush.
</spoiler>

Trivia
* Conan makes a reference to his past failure to stop a suicide in "Moonlight Sonata Murder Case" when telling Heiji that letting a person commit suicide when it can be stopped is the same as killing the person oneself.
In the manga, Conan replaced the gasoline that the killer intended to use by emptying the geyser. In the anime, he replaced the gasoline with water.
Toichi Kuroba is Kaito Kuroba's father, a world-renowned magician, and the original Kaitou Kid.

Background
Toichi's first heist was how he first met his wife. It involved him wearing an outfit that was in homage for the great Arsène Lupin for his next magic show. Toichi saved Chikage which is how they fell in love. When people saw it, Toichi automatically knew the outfit was going to be his costume.

Toichi as Kid was the greatest jewel thief in Japan as well as the best stage magician in Japan until he was murdered in a fake magic accident. Sometime prior to his death, Toichi had his attendant and friend Konosuke Jii promise him that he would never tell Kaito about his thieving. In the manga Kaito's mother was aware of her husband's double life and is aware that Kaito discovered Toichi's secret room within their household.

It was implied in Magic Kaito that Toichi's magic teacher was world-renowned British magician James Hopper, whose granddaughter Kaito defended against Snake.

Personality
Toichi seems to have a playful atmosphere about himself, like his son Kaito Kuroba, as demonstrated by his amusing magic tricks to delight his audience.

Relationships analysis
Family & Friends
Kaito Kuroba
Konosuke Jii
Jii is Toichi's loyal friend and assistant.

Chikage Kuroba
Yusaku Kudo
Toichi seems to have had a friendly rivalry with Yusaku Kudo, as Yusaku successfully stopped one of Toichi's jewelery heists and then gave Toichi the "Kaitou Kid" name when he purposely misread a "1412" a news reporter had scribbled down. Toichi daringly sent a letter as the Kaitou Kid to Yusaku once with only a question mark on it, questioning whether Yusaku would be able to stop him again. (Yusaku replies with an exclaimation mark, meaning that yes, he will.)

Yukiko Kudo
It is subtly implied that Toichi is the very man who taught Yusaku's wife Yukiko and Sharon Vineyard the finer art of disguise. This theory is given credibility by the intricateness of Kaitou Kid's disguises, the secrets of which he has inherited from his father. However, Yukiko remains ignorant about Toichi's true identity and his actual relationship with her husband. Also she called him one of her seven knights.

Shinichi Kudo
Despite the fact Toichi and Shinichi only met once prior to Toichi's death, it's worth mentioning Toichi referred to Shinichi as his "older brother" and himself as the "younger brother". This is because of Yusaku, Shinichi's father, being the father of the name of Kaitou Kid, Toichi's secret identity.

Plot overview
Having died eight years before the start of the Magic Kaito manga, Toichi has not played an active role in the plot. However, he still has a posthumous influence on his son Kaito, whose stated reason for dressing as the Kaitou Kid is to find the men who killed his father. Kaito later unearths that his father was killed by Snake over a mysterious jewel known as the Pandora Gem.

Toichi appeared in a flashback episode of Detective Conan, where it was revealed that he had instructed Yukiko Kudo in disguises and that he and Yusaku Kudo were semi-friendly rivals.
clearleft
The characters in Kuroba (黒羽) mean "black feather" and one of the characters in Toichi (盗) means thief.
Thanks to Kogoro, he overslept and made Ran and Conan miss their boat while they were on vacation. Luckily, the island happen to be where the Hatamoto family have their weddings, and when their were just leaving the island, the passengers of a nearby boat noticed them and picked them up. However, trouble strikes when the clan leader Gozo Hatamoto is found murdered.
Takeshi Zaiki who just married Natsue Hatamoto is the prime suspect since his flower was found at the crime scene and Gozo was the reason that his father committed suicide. *Evidence
** Breadcrumbs were found in the crime scene. Gozo Hatamoto's grandson, Ichiro was a skilled artist who specialized in charcoal drawing, and breadcrumbs can be used as erasers when drawing with charcoal. The crumbs were stained not only in blood, but in charcoal; they likely were inside Ichiro's sleeve and were released as he struggled with Gozo.
** In contrast, the white flower that was found in said crime scene (the main "evidence" against Takeshi, who wore it on his lapel) lacked of any blood stains, therefore Conan deduced that it was "planted" in the scene to make it look like Takeshi was the killer.
** Takeshi "ran away" from the storeroom he was thrown into... but the door could NOT be opened from the inside due to how it was built. Therefore, it was impossible for him to simply open the door and run away, so someone should have released him from the outside. Ichiro did that to make everyone believe Takeshi was on the loose and ready to kill again; in reality, Takeshi did run away once he noticed the door was open... but by then he found out about Tatsuo's death and heard the tearful Akie blame him for the murder, so he hid in the closet in Gozo's studio to wait for any outcomes.
** The murder of Tatsuo was not pre-planned. He actually was killed by Ichiro because he saw him drop the knife he used to kill Gozo in the sea, so Ichiro panicked again and beat him with the first blunt object he found: a metal pipe.
** Ichiro's attacker was... himself. He used a trick to make the lights go out, and once this happened he stole his uncle's cooking knife, locked himself in the bathroom and stabbed his own leg, blaming Takeshi for it. It's hard to believe that a struggle in the dark would result in someone being stabbed merely in a non-lethal spot, but in the heat of the moment no one would really notice.

* Conclusion

The killer was Ichiro Hatamoto, Gozo's grandson and Natsue's cousin and unlucky childhood friend. He had not straightforwardly intended to kill his grandfather, but after dinner they got into a very ugly verbal fight. Ichiro couldn't withstand Gozo's abusive treatment and attacked his grandfather, and in the middle of the struggle he took a knife that was on the table and stabbed him to death.

Once he realized what he had done, Ichiro started to cover his own steps, making everyone believe that Natsue's husband Takeshi (and his love rival) was the real killer. Takeshi himself had reasons to be angry at Gozo Hatamoto: his family owned a small business that was absorbed by the Hatamoto company (causing the suicide of Takeshi's dad) and Gozo himself not only knew it, but he abused Takeshi because of it, thinking that he was a mere gold digger (which he wasn't, since he did truly care for Natsue). Therefore, Ichiro easily dropped fake leads that led to Takeshi being blamed for Gozo's death, and later for Tatsuo's.

* Motive

Ichiro Hatamoto, as explained, was in madly in love with Natsue, which was indicated when his sketchbook was revealed with nothing but drawings of Natsue. But Gozo had repeatedly said no when he asked him if he could marry her, and kept mistreating Ichiro afterwards; this specific time, Gozo's taunts were directed to Ichiro himself, calling him a failure to the Hatamoto family and telling him to give up his dreams.

It should be noted that in Japanese society, first cousin marriage is relatively acceptable and not that unheard of. Ichiro's own parents Mariko and Kitaro actually were first cousins and in love ever since they were teenagers; 25 years ago they did manage to get Gozo's approval for their marriage, but it actually took them lots of time and much pleading with the old man. Therefore, Gozo was furious when he saw that his least favorite grandson was developing feelings for his favorite granddaughter, whom he also had appointed as his only heir.
Manga to anime changes
List of differences between the manga and anime
* In the manga, while waiting for Ichiro to return from the restroom, Joji Hatamoto comes up with a thought that the one who released Takeshi from the storeroom was the murdered Tatsuo Hatamoto. His theory: Upon learning that the entire inheritance was to be passed on to Natsue only, and not wanting to be cut off, Tatsuo released Takeshi and offered to help prove his innocence in return for a considerable share of the inheritance, and Takeshi, on the pretence of wanting to negotiate with him further, lured Tatsuo to the boat deck where he attacked him there. This is not depicted in the anime.
* In the anime, there is an additional scene not depicted in the manga: After the case is solved, Natsue and Takeshi have a small talk on the boat deck in which Takeshi confessed that he did indeed intially joined the Hatamoto family for revenge, but abandoned his motive after realizing that he had developed genuine feelings for Natsue, and the two make up. Conan and Ran are shown overhearing the conversation.

Part 1
Thanks to Kogoro, he overslept and made Ran and Conan miss their boat while they were on vacation. Luckily, the island happen to be where the Hatamoto family have their weddings, and when their were just leaving the island, the passengers of a nearby boat noticed them and picked them up. However, trouble strikes when the clan leader Gozo Hatamoto is found murdered.
Takeshi Zaiki who just married Natsue Hatamoto is the prime suspect since his flower was found at the crime scene and Gozo was the reason that his father committed suicide. He is then locked in the storeroom. Later, Tatsuo Hatamoto is found murdered too and the storeroom door is unlocked, making it seem that Takeshi have escaped.

** In the manga, while waiting for Ichiro to return from the restroom, Joji Hatamoto comes up with a thought that the one who released Takeshi from the storeroom was the murdered Tatsuo Hatamoto.
** In the anime, there is an additional scene not depicted in the manga: After the case is solved, Natsue and Takeshi have a small talk on the boat deck in which Takeshi confessed that he did indeed intially joined the Hatamoto family for revenge, but abandoned his motive after realizing that he had developed genuine feelings for Natsue, and the two make up. Conan and Ran are shown overhearing the conversation.
Situation
The Detective Boys are commissioned by a classmate to find his missing cat, Akira. When they do finally find Akira, the cat has just emerged from a house's window, covered in blood. The Detective Boys immediately investigate, and see a bloody corpse face-down in the house's bathtub.
They call the police, and Inspector Megure arrives with a squad to investigate. The elder brother, a rough and rude man, lets them into the house but then goes into a room while they search. The soft-spoken younger brother arrives soon after, but is cooperative with the police. However, despite a thorough examination of the entire house, no corpse is found. Inspector Megure believes that the Detective Boys were playing a prank and the police leave, to Conan's frustration.
Evidence:
*When the Tomofumi arrives home, a small leaf falls out from his slipper.
*While the police are there, Tomofumi abruptly answers the phone when it does not ring audibly, only with a flashing light.
*The tree outside the room where Kazuyoshi was sleeping leads to a culvert with a ledge that one person could stand and walk on.
*After sunset, the curtains of the room with Kazoyoshi haven't been drawn, and he hasn't moved from the chair.

Resolution

With his Detective Boys Badge transmitting his deductions to the Detective Boys who are on the phone with Inspector Megure, Conan explains that the corpse they saw in the bathtub was actually the body of Kazuyoshi, whom Tomofumi Tanaka murdered. Between when the kids saw the body and the police arrived, he cleaned the body and set it up in the room as if it were watching TV, then answered the door as his brother. After establishing the presence of Kazuyoshi, he went into the bedroom with corpse and climbed out into the nearby culvert using the tree, sneaking around to re-enter the house as himself. The TV that Kazuyoshi appeared to turn off at Tomofumi's request was set to turn off by timer, rather than remote, and Kazuyoshi's voice was simulated by Tomofumi's voice on the phone's answering machine, which Tomofumi dialed using the cell phone hidden in his pocket.

Motive

Kazuyoshi had been blackmailing Tomofumi to let him freeload there forever and be given more and more money whenever he wanted, or else he would reveal that Tomofumi had been illegally trading stocks. Tomofumi finally snapped at the frustration of being used by the elder brother he had once greatly admired, and killed Kazuyoshi.
<spoiler>
Teruhiko Kasuga is the culprit of the attempted murder. He only married Shinobu under orders from his father to marry a girl from a rich family or face being cut off. Wanting to return to his playboy lifestyle, he decided to kill his fiancee and make it look like an accident by leaving her unconscious in the cave so that she would drown by the rising tide. Conan and the detective kids find her and they escape by traveling deeper into the cave where the water tides carry them out of another hole into a tide pool, where Kogoro and Kasuga are there fishing.

Kasuga immediately takes Ayumi hostage and threatens to kill everyone present, but Ran and an old guard arrive in time to save them. Kasuga is immediately subdued and arrested, while Kogoro recieves a stern lecture from the old guard for fishing in the tide pool, which is off-limits.
