He is known to be polite and snarky, as well as of noble descent. He has no close friends, with the sole exception is the cute little chipmunk he takes everywhere with him.
He is a Senior Superintendent in the Tokyo Police, and is the Chief of the Criminal Investigations Division. Not much is known about Odagiri but he has a son, Toshiya Odagiri. Toshiro Odagiri seems to be a very strict person which may be because of his strict upbringing. He spares no hesitation to suspect his son of murder, which shows he is very dedicated to his job. He is also a good swordsman, as Conan notices his sword style in Movie 4.
Tome is an anime only character and, unlike Takagi, Shiratori, and Chiba, has never appeared in the manga. Up until 2008, he only made sporadic and scattered appearances in the show, but starting with the 17th season, Tome's role has increased heavily, appearing more frequently. Conan frequently asks him about forensic evidence he has collected, and Tome is often happy to answer.

Resolution
<spoiler>
After failing to find the vase in possible hiding spots, Conan realizes the vase has been smashed and reveals it is hidden inside the fanny pack of Kimijima's disciple, Shinobu Oki. Conan deduces her motive and has the guest star appraiser reveal the vase was a counterfeit and that Oki most likely destroyed it to prevent Kimijima from being humiliated on television. Oki confesses and reveals Kimijima's wife's dying wish was to prevent Kimijima from learning about the vase's real value. Kimijima accepts Oki's good intentions and reveals he made a deal with a producer who will help start Oki's debut as a singer. There is a happy ending and just before Kogoro, Ran and Conan are about to go home, Yoko Okino tells Kogoro that he has something on his tie he seemed happy that she notices his tie but then got disappointed when it was not for the reason he had hoped.
