Resolution
<spoiler>The culprit is Midori Koyanagi. Her motive was her mother, who was formerly a cook working hard at the inn to support her daughter. When Takami Ohno married Bonzo Ohno's son and the inns of the two families were merged as a result, her mother was callously laid off by Bonzo despite her years of dedicated work. Though her dismissal was not her fault, nobody was willing to give her any paid work afterwards, and she died two years later, completely destitute. Next to Bonzo Ohno, Takami was also one of Koyanagi's targets, but Koyanagi reconsidered after she had seen the injuries on Takami's hands from her hard work at the inn, which reminded her of her mother, and because she didn't want Kohei to go through the same suffering she did.

In the post-credit segment of the episode, Kazuha and Ran approach Heiji for his "confession" about his actual feelings for Kazuha, but Heiji claims that they have merely misheard: Instead of "ore no Kazuha" ("my Kazuha"), he had said "onore" ("Damn you!"). The reason for Heiji's denial is that - much like the way Shinichi did in London - he simply wants to wait for the right place and time to make his actual love confession.

Kazuha naturally reacts to this denial with indignation, but Conan allows himself to have the last laugh. He had erased Heiji's love confession as promised, but had previously allowed his Detective Boys friends to copy the audio file. And to prove his point, he dials the number of Ai's cellphone, which uses Heiji's exclamation as its ringtone.
Resolution
<spoiler>
The theft of the incense burner is actually a ruse for a tragic case of blackmail, in which Shuko Kumado was made an unwilling victim by Naomi Senda. Two years previously, Shuko had been seen with a strange man, who was actually Yasunobu Kotani, an old high school classmate of hers. Although Shuko's marriage with Soichi had started with mutual love, Shuko had gotten doubts about it, but was unwilling to divorce in order not to disappoint her parents, who were overjoyed at her union with a member of such a prestigious family. One month ago, Kotani had asked her to go with him to South Africa, but since Shuko was pregnant with Kazuma, she decided not to elope in order to secure her child's future.

But as they left their meeting place at the Tottori Sand Dunes, they were spied upon and photographed by Naomi, who used this information to blackmail Shuko. In fear of having her child taken away by her family-in-law, Shuko paid Naomi to keep the "affair" secret; but when Naomi had learned from the news that Yasunobu had died in an accident, she decided to raise her demands. Facing the fear that she couldn't procure the ever-mounting hush money anymore, Shuko decided to kill Naomi.

In order to conceal her intentions, Shuko planned the fake robbery and ransoming of the incense burner along with Naomi, who would agree to cease blackmailing her once the ransom money for the artefact was in their hands. Naomi left Shuko tied up in the house and planted the broken urn and the keychain incriminating her as the culprit after they had established Naomi's fake alibi, and they started the fight to throw off suspicion that they were accomplices in this caper. Afterwards, Shuko would lure Naomi to a steep cliffside at the coast and cast her into the sea, then claim that this was done in self-defense. However, the immediate execution of her plan was foiled because of Iwao Kumado's refusal to let her leave the house while the incense burner was missing; hence, she returned it.

The decisive evidence was the delivery Shuko received at the house door during the family meeting. The delivery service man had acutally attempted to deliver the package at 12.00 o'clock, while Shuko and Kazuma were alone in the house. However, since no one answered the door, the delivery man intended to return with the package some other time; but he got a phone call to re-deliver right away. In fact, Shuko was already tied up at that time, and while the clock had been reset to provide a fake alibi for Naomi, the unplanned arrival of the delivery man upset that vital detail. Therefore Shuko was in a hurry to take the mail to hide the fact that the package has arrived as a re-delivery.

While Shuko couldn't execute her murder plan, the fact that she committed a fake robbery and would face the Kumado clan's wrath as a result cannot be dismissed that easily before the law. However, Soichi - who has followed his wife - unexpectedly intervenes, announcing his decision to cut his ties with his family, leave Junji in succession as the clan's head, and make a new beginning with Shuko and his son once she gets out of jail.
Situation
One night, Conan is racing to an appointment. Suddenly he hears a woman shrieking at the sight of someone falling off the top of a roof, directly down towards a man standing in a street at the building's side. Reacting quickly, Conan uses his Power Shoes and Ball Dispenser Belt to kick the falling man off his downward path, right into a nearby dumpster, where he makes a soft landing. However, the man is totally intoxicated and unconscious, so he remains completely unaware of what has happened to him. Due to the account of a witness, the man - by the name of Sadao Fukurokoji - evidently wanted to commit suicide because in his drunken state he had babbled out that things were not going according to his desires at his company.

The next morning, Conan takes his friends to the scene upon their insistence. To their surprise, they encounter a detachment of the Investigation Section One there, led by Megure and Takagi. Because of his involvement as an eye witness, Megure and Takagi confide in Conan that Fukurokoji's fall last night was apparently attempted murder, because Fukurokoji was far too drunk to undertake any actions on his own. Investigating the roof from which the man fell, Conan finds two sets of scrape marks on the roof's saftey railing, proving that someone must have carried him up and thrown him off the roof. But the marks suggest that the culprit must have switched position for the drop-down once, the reason for which remaining unknown... for the moment.
Fortunately, due to Conan's intervention, he survives with none worse the wear but a few scrapes from his landing and the after-effects of his drunkeness.
}}
As Conan looks down to the street, he spots the man on whose head Fukurokoji had almost fallen last night. This man, a somewhat slow-witted and unlucky, but ever-cheerful office worker named Hitoshi Komatsu, is showing his friend and colleague, Daisuke Yukigaya, the place where he was nearly killed. After a brief introduction to Conan as a fellow witness, Yukigaya takes his leave, and Komatsu bashfully comments on wondering how a overly successful person like Yukigaya could ever like an eight ball like him. Then he mentions that he was waiting in his place because he was expecting to meet an anonymous woman who had sent him a love letter, asking him to wait for her at the building at that time. This statement immediatley rouses Conan's suspicion that the killer's intention was to kill both Fukurokoji and Komatsu, making it look like an accident; however, Komatsu can't think of anyone bearing a grudge against him.

The Detective Boys ask Komatsu to show them the love letter he received, which he is keeping in his appartment for the day. As the Detective Boys scoff at the idea that Komatsu would meet a stranger who wouldn't provide her name, Komatsu declares that he merely went there to tell the writer that he couldn't go out with her, since he already has a crush on someone. Another puzzling clue is that the letter's writer asked Komatsu to bring the letter with him for their meeting, considering that following the murder attempt it would be hard to retrieve it, since it would be a crucial piece of evidence that the matter was in fact foul play.

Since Komatsu has gone hungry, he invites the kids to a restaurant he likes to frequent. There, the Detective Boys meet Sakiko Nagai, a pretty and happy-to-go young waitress who is Komatsu's secret love interest. Incidentally, the restaurant is quite near Komatsu's working place and was also frequented by Yukigaya, though he has not come by for the last two weeks. While Komatsu has to go to the toilet, Nagai tells the children that Yukigaya had actually asked her out for a date the last time he was here, but she had turned him down because she wasn't drawn to his success personality traits. In the course of that conversation, the Detective Boys are also surprised to learn that Nagai has her own crush on Komatsu, making this matter (as Komatsu believes) not a one-sided affair.

This is all Conan needs to suspect Yukigaya as the would-be murderer. However, as Takagi and Chiba later tell the Detective Boys, Yukigaya has had no previous affiliation with Fukurokoji, making his murder in addition to Komatsu's appear a rather pointless undertaking. But then Conan figures out the culprit's true identity and his modus operandi, and asks all concerned, as well as Megure, Takagi and Chiba, to meet the Detective Boys for a discussion of the case.
Resolution
<spoiler>Daisuke Yukigaya committed the attempted murder because he has a complex which - as the direct opposite of the ever-unlucky, but ever-optimistic Komatsu - makes him unable to bear any kind of defeat or disappointment. After having been rejected by Nagai, Yukigawa decided to get revenge on her by crushing her feelings for Komatsu - not just by murdering him, but also by sending him the anonymous love letter to make him appear a fickle womanizer. Yukigawa sought Fukurokoji's company merely to exploit him as his murder weapon against Komatsu, hoping to make it look like Komatsu just got unluckily mixed up in a suicide.

However, right after Yukigaya had brought Fukurokoji into position, Komatsu had switched positions after his wristwatch failed and he went looking for a clock to tell the time, which is the reason for the two different scrape marks on the roof's railing. In addition, the crucial evidence for Yukigawa's attempted misdeed is some of his hair which got stuck on Fukurokoji's jacket. When confronted with this fact, instead of breaking down, Yukigawa narcissistically boasts his self-perceived perfection, deepening the Detective Boys' and the police's dislike towards him even more.

The episode ends with Nagai furiously confronting Komatsu about why he would accept a love letter from another woman, with some shrewd comments thrown in by the Detective Boys. However, it is hinted that the blossoming love story will eventually come to a happy end.
Situation
One morning, the Detective Boys are on their way to an abandoned building lot which Professor Agasa has managed to loan from a wealthy acquaintance, in order to practice their soccer skills for an upcoming school match. The lot is located next to an eight-story building, and was formerly the site of a mansion which is already torn down, with only a family-sized pool and a shed remaining. However, when they arrive at the lot, they find the grounds crowded by the police: A body has been found in the pool.
Resolution
<spoiler>
Gecko's death resulted from a burglary attempt gone wrong, with some unwitting contribution from Tomoe Awaji. During the night before, Gecko had tried to burgle her apartment from the outside (unaware that Awaji had her window secured just the day before). Mrs. Awaji, while filling up her washing machine, was lured to the living room window by one of the lightning strikes Professor Agasa has mentioned, and beheld Gecko right outside her window, illuminated by a lightning flash. Reflexively, she sprayed the window pane with the hose; and the rush of water, reminding him of his near-fatal accident, caused Gecko to panic and loose his grip, resulting in his fatal fall.

While Mrs. Awaji has kept quiet about the incident out of guilt, the death of Gecko was not a deliberate act of malice, and therefore no charges are pressed against her. With the case resolved, the Detective Boys can finally start their soccer practice.
<spoiler>

<spoiler>
The culprit is Yasuo Nashimoto. Contrary to his claims, it is he stalking Konaka instead of Someya, who is Konaka's boyfriend.
Trivia
*The film Running in Handcuffs, of which Takagi is such a huge fanatic, is a fictional titular variation of the 1958 film The Defiant Ones starring Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis.
