This is about how parent are overly protective towards their kids. Kids are naturally climbing on things and when parents say "Don't do that or this you may hurt yourself." they can damage their child normal growing. I think trial-and-error is a huge part of growing up, but there are some things that kids just shouldn't be allowed to do. Like cross the street haphazardly. In pre-school we always checked twice that there was no cars around when we went somewhere by foot.  But I know what you mean. But in school half of games or thing even I did in school is now prohibit. So it's nowadays ridiculous. Teachers are supposed to be watching all kids in school all the time.
