when you saw James with akai in ep 259 he looked suspicious. But when you found out in ep 288 that akai is an FBI agent, then you could assume he to was an agent.

his suspiciousness didn't last long

The best part was in his introduction chapter James asked if the DB had seen the long haired man he was supposed to meet with. I don't know who could read that and not think Gin. Then we find out Akai cut his hair...

if at the time we assumed that he was looking for gin (a BO), ai should have had her crazy freak out, but didn't.

at first i thought he was something else, because of that.

That cleared Akai later in the ep as a non BO

Maybe it was a wrong assumption at the time, but it got the answer right

And, along the lines of puns and such, though this is probably just a coincidence, isn't it weird that Agasa and Moriarty are both professors? They are commonly referred to as Professor Agasa and Professor Moriarty.

It's true I'm not a big fan of the Agasa is the Boss theory, but I just wanted to put it out there.

And I apologize if someone already mentioned this.

I just came back from a long "no computer" streak, so I missed a lot of the conversation.

agasa is the boss theory? :-o

*goes to check that out

detective conan is based on sherlock holmes.

the boss is mentioned ( so was moriarty ) and in sherlock holmes moriarty appeared 1 time in the final problem ( thats when the boss will appear in conan, at the end )

just because he said he was mentioned, doesn't mean that it is one of the regular characters

Erm, to those of you who state that DC is based on Sherlock Holmes, I'd like to mention that DC seems to be influenced by many mystery series - I'm sure that Sherlock Holmes has a huge influence, but if you just look at the characters' names, you see that Gosho is familiar with quite a lot of detective stories.

For example:

  • Edogawa Conan comes from Edogawa Ranpo, the author of Akechi Kogoro and Detective Boys series, and Conan Doyle (obviously)
  • Mouri Ran seems to be a pun on Maurice Leblanc, the author of the Lupin series, as I mentioned in my previous post - Mouri may also be a pun on Moriarty, who knows.
  • Mouri Kogoro comes from Akechi Kogoro, written by Edogawa Ranpo
  • Agasa is named after Agatha Christie, of course
  • Cafe Poirot is named after Hercules Poirot, obviously
  • Detective Boys is named after the Detective Boys in Edogawa Ranpo's novels, as well as the Irregulars from the Sherlock Holmes series, it seems
  • Edogawa Fumiyo seems to be named after Akechi Fumiyo, the wife of Akechi Kogoro

So I wouldn't assume that DC's main plot will follow Sherlock Holmes, since Gosho clearly knows a lot of mysteries. In fact Edogawa Ranpo's influence seems to equal that of Conan Doyle's, from the names of the characters.

I spent some time thinking things over, and I noticed something.

I know a lot of people look at Shinichi as Homles and Anokata as Moriarty.

But, what if it's completely different?

What if Akai is supposed to be Holmes and Gin Moriarty?

The first point of interest is Akai's "death".

Now, everyone knows Homles "died", but really managed to survive and was away hiding and healing.

Akai, if we follow Chekhov's theory, is alive and is hiding out somewhere (probably as Okiya).

Another interesting point is where each of them "died".

Akai was "killed" at Raiha Pass.

Holmes "perished" at Reichenbach Falls.

See the similarities?

Not to mention Akai and Gin or more of rivals.

Conan hasn't even met the Boss yet.

How can you count them as rivals?

Holmes and Moriarty have been arch-enemies for ages.

The BO Boss probably doesn't even know who Conan/Shinichi is.

It doesn't really fit if you ask me.

That's just my theory.

Aoyama-sama said the Boss has been introduced in the series at some point.

Yeah, the translation to the "interview" that supposedly happened may not be accurate.

Especially since no traces of that interview exist.

I am not sure whether I've posted this before but I think that one of the possible suspects for Anokata is the old man in the Night Baron Case. He was pretty suspicious as his assistant and him didn't tell anyone on the program that the Night Baron Virus, the virus that was in the hard drive of the BO, broke..... But I don't think that Aoyama-sensei would use anyone from the early episodes and so, this might not be that possible...
