DCW IRL Round 14: Shibuya Infinity

Recommended Posts

Well, speak of the almost-literal devil.

As soon as she had asked the question, said KID impostor was next to them. His/her Noh mask had a crack, revealed to them when s/he tilted his head. S/he seemed unfazed by this, because s/he was pointing a gun at them.

 This...this...this is probably the end...

The KID impersonator seemed to know too. S/he made something like the sign of the cross, as if asking forgiveness for the deed s/he was about to perform, and grasped the gun with both hands.

She and her companions have had some pretty close encounters with Death, but, she figured, he had finally caught up with them. She tried not to think about that and just think of...nothing. She snapped her eyes shut.

.

.

.

There was no sound of any bullet escaping the gun, so she dared to open her closed eyes by just a centimeter or so. What she saw was a mask falling to the ground and a familiar middle-aged face revealed.

It was the man at the ruins of the building.

The gun clattered to the asphalt, and the man sank to the ground as rain began to fall.

Maybe it was mirroring the man's feelings.

----------------------

The police soon arrived and handcuffed the man, accompanied with an ambulance to take them to a hospital. She wanted to tell them that she was alright, because she was behind a wall for he majority of the event, but she couldn't say that in Japanese. Even if they could understand her, they probably would force her to go to the hospital anyway.

When they arrived there, they found out all by themselves that she was okay, but continued to fuss (that was annoying). They discharged her after 5 minutes or such. She just sat on one of the metal benches, wondering where the others went.

"That was a crazy ride. But don't think it's over."

It was the girl with the brown hair, the one in front of Alice's house. "And please tell her that I did not go overboard. It's hard chasing a crazy train, you know."

"You chased that train?" she asked, ignoring her favor.

She nodded. "Your companion beat me to it, though. Effort wasted, but the chaos-maker was apprehended, right? Then no effort wasted."

What...? She got lost on that."But what do you mean about me not thinking that it's over? The KID impersonator is gone."

"We're still here. That's proof that they haven't left this place yet. Meanwhile you can go to your friends now. People are staring at us. Room 411."

She stood up and brisk walked away, leaving her pissed and thinking something like, Please do not abandon me suddenly like that. But she just rolled her eyes and left the bench for Room 411.

------------

She closed the door behind her, inhaling in the usual alcohol-like smell of a hospital. "How you all doing?"  she asked them. Most answered with the usual I'm-fine response. Moments later Misaki entered the room, and asked how their check-ups were. Now it was her turn to reply with "It was fine."

I don't have any ideas right now so feel free to attach anything to this post.

"It was fine," Mari replied. The others gave similar answers.

"I am glad to hear that," Misaki smiled. "Mine was fine as well."

The group talked for a bit, jumping from topic to topic. Eventually, the singer said, "Ah, by the way, we do need to go down to the police station to give our stories. I would rather we not do it tonight, so maybe we could go in tomorrow if everyone is well enough to go?"

"Yeah, that works," someone said.

Suddenly, Misaki felt her phone buzz in her pocket. One phone conversation later, she turned to the group and explained, "It was the police station. I scheduled us for 1 PM. They will interview us at the same time. I made sure to request a translator for Mari too."

"Cool, that means we have time to get some breakfast before we go."

"We should probably get to bed guys; that way we can get out of here early."

"Good idea. Do you think anyone will mind if we sleep in here?"

"I don't see why not."

They quickly found some blankets and pillows to use by asking a nurse for some. As Misaki snuggled into her blanket, she slowly let sleep take her.

The next morning, they woke up and got to work at getting Aster his papers for his release. By the time they had everything sorted out, it was already ten am. "Ugh..." the singer said, massaging her neck as they walked out of the hospital. "My neck hurts from sleeping in such a weird position..."

After a nice breakfast at a nearby cafe, the group headed down to the police station. Once there, they were greeted by two detectives, one male and one female. "Are you Mimori-san and her group?" the female one asked.

"Mmm, we are. I'm Mimori Misaki."

"Nice to meet you," the female replied. "I'm Detective Yamashita and my partner here is Detective Endo."

"So how long can we expect to be here?" Misaki asked.

"Well, we're a bit short staffed at the moment, what with everything that happened yesterday, so we can only go two at a time. But I doubt it will take more than an hour or two."

"Ah, do you have the translator I asked for my friend here? She doesn't understand Japanese. Only English."

"Don't worry," Detective Endo replied, "I speak english well. So who's going first?"

The singer turned to her friends. "Does anyone want to go first? I can if no one else does."

(Literal? What does literal even mean?! 8couugh8 I've been really sick lately, with the changing weather and seasons shifting and all and I have to get up early for school again so I've been unable to reply. Can't think that straight even now.)

"It was...it was the Judge Doom who framed Roger Rabbit..." Aster recalled. He tried looking around but felt very nauseous, the hated smell of a hospital hitting his nostrils bringing attention to bandages wrapped around his injuries.

"The sane one...I mean Misaki-bocchan, tell the coat (Detective Endo) that I have a license..." Aster said, wondering how many charges were going to be pressed and against whom.

There was no way Azura would get anywhere near the police station. She didn't want to get questioned and have her files on their record. It had trouble written all over it. Besides, her face was too recognizable. She knew that at the moment she would step inside the station, her parents would immediately be informed of what she'd been up to and all the strange mess she got into.

Azura allowed herself to walk behind the rest of the group as they headed to the police station. She planned to put a long distance between her and the others so she'd be able to run off easily and meet them again after the questioning. Making sure the others were far ahead of her, she slipped into a dark alleyway and allowed herself to heave a sigh of relief. She realized how much breath she'd been holding and how nervous she was as she leaned against the wall. She brought out her phone and texted Misaki that she wouldn't be able to go to the station and for them not to worry about her, hoping that her efforts were enough to keep Azura away from the police station.

"It was...it was the Judge Doom who framed Roger Rabbit..." Aster said, looking nauseous.

"Huh?" Misaki replied.

"The sane one...I mean Misaki-bocchan, tell the coat that I have a license..." he continued.

"Wait, do you need a translator too?" the singer asked. "And I am sure Detective Endo can understand you. He does speak english after all, as stated."

"You can explain further about that license when we talk," Endo added.

"And where is Azura?" Misaki mumbled, looking around.

As if on cue, her phone buzzed to signal an incoming text. Flipping open her phone, she saw it was a message from Azura, saying that she couldn't come to the police station and that she would meet up with them later. Well that's weird. They just want to know what we saw, that's all. It's not like they can arrest us since we didn't really break any laws. Though I should remember to call my lawyer if things get dicey...

"Well how about this? I go with Detective Yamashita and one of you go with Detective Endo. The other can wait here for us until it is their turn," Misaki said.

Before either could reply, she saw a fleeting face, one that looked rather familiar. "Wait, is that...?"

(it should probably be Roberts so we can eventually lead the story towards questioning him but i don't care if you make it someone else)

As it turned out, there was another familiar face along with Robert's face. It was your old good friend, the skeleton man. Or as you now know him, Shell. It made a brief gesture of acknowledgement before leading Robert into the station.

Perhaps you wondered what exactly Shell was doing here. That particular instance of Shell was in police uniform, but its actions from before cast doubt on its status as an officer. Should you ask one of the detectives, they didn't seem to recognize Shell either, but thought it was probably a fairly new face at the station.

I guess there's a chance to talk to Robert now. It's a start.

=================================

A voice came from behind Rye.

"Don't worry?" The source of the voice placed a single hand on Rye's shoulder, and broke out in laughter. "That's the most horrible advice I've ever heard!" the voice continued, beginning to recover. Turning around, Rye found that the source of the voice was Lilliam, and probably took a step back or something.

"I think you all have so much to worry about. Like who exactly is doing this, conveniently also giving me a source to draw power from? Like who would try to cause such mass chaos, which happens to be something I really like?" Lilliam smirked, then took a step back. "Oh, enough clues. I think we're ready to set the final stage. The next time we meet," she said, forming a pistol with her right hand.

"You die." She fired her pistol, then a strange thing happened. Her right arm began to twist and grow in size. Mechanical parts stuck out from the arm, until Lilliam's right arm was a large mechanical limb. Using her limb, she propelled herself up onto the ceiling of the nearby building and disappeared.

=================================

And the first reveal?! Lilliam Nevermore is (I dunno if you guys realized this) Aero after all! And she's heavily suggesting that she's behind this incident...but who knows where she is.

She was in the police station when she saw the KID impersonator (the middle-aged guy) with Shell. She half-expected Lilliam (with a gun) to pop into existence and point a gun at them, but no such luck (if that was even considered luck). At least she had slept the night before, even on the cold hospital floor. She was used to it, anyway (sleeping on the floor, that is). If she hadn't, she would have been hallucinating that time.

The detectives Misaki had called didn't show any reaction to Shell, because he/she/it stood out. Maybe it was like the situation two days ago, wherein strange phenomena were invisible to "normal" people. No, not normal people (because what would they be?). People who were blissfully ignorant about the weird people in Shibuya, or something like that.

The air seemed a bit tense, but maybe that was just her. They should probably ask the man/impersonator some questions. To her, they had the full right to ask after being dragged into all the KID impersonator's recent antics. The question was what they should ask and if the police would even allow them.

"It is..." someone finished.

It was the KID impostor, walking by with his hands handcuffed and his head down. He was accompanied by Shell, who gave them a brief nod before escorting the man through a door.

"Hey, do you know who that police officer is that's escorting the KID impostor?" Misaki asked the detectives.

"Oh, you mean the one with Roberts? No, I don't. He must be a newbie," Detective Yamashita replied. "Why do you ask?"

"Just wondering... I just thought I saw him yesterday but looking closer, I think I'm wrong," the singer said. "Um, I don't know if this is allowed, but do you mind letting us see Roberts-san? To give a sense of closure to all that's happened."

"... Well, I don't see why a quick peek would hurt," Detective Endo replied. "But don't tell anyone! We could get in trouble if you do."

"OK!" the group of three said in unison as they followed the detectives to the interrogation room where Roberts was being held.

"Where are we going?" Mari whispered quietly as they down the hallway.

"Where the KID impersonator is being held," Misaki replied.

There he sat alone, looking miserable in the harshly lit room. In the viewing room where they were, it was darker, but only a little. They watched silently for a minute before someone spoke.

Azura stood frozen in the dark alley, unable to comprehend what just happened. Regaining her composure, Azura looked up and around, but Nevermore was nowhere in sight. Azura quickly slipped out of the alleyway and into the main road, taking out her phone and dialing Misaki's number. Her sweat was cold, and she felt like all the blood had gone from her face. This is not good, Azura thought, terrified as she knew what all these indicated. Finally, Misaki answered. "Misaki-san," Azura's voice shook as she spoke, trying to remain calm. "Sorry to interrupt, but something's happened. I'm heading to the police station now. Okay. Thanks."

Azura dashed towards the station. Luckily, not a lot of civilians were outside that day because of what happened the day before, so Azura didn't need to worry about bumping random people along the way. After a few minutes of running, she reached the station. She brought out her phone and texted Misaki to notify her (and the others) of her arrival at the station. She was still a bit hesitant about entering the station, but she knew it was too late to back out when an officer approached her to escort her in.

"So-"

Suddenly, a phone rang out, cutting off the person's words. From the tune, Misaki could tell it was her that was receiving the call. "Excuse me," she said as she exited the room and answered. "Hello?" she said, switching to english after noticing it was Azura who was calling.

"Misaki-san," Azura said, her voice wavering. "Sorry to interrupt, but something's happened. I'm heading to the police station now."

"You are? Well, I will ask for a police officer to bring you to us since the rest of us are going to be interviewed soon."

"Okay. Thanks."

After a quick good bye, she hung up and reentered the darkened room. "One of our group members is coming to join us; The girl overslept and just got up," Misaki said to the detectives. "Could you send a police officer to wait for her and bring her to us?"

"That shouldn't be a problem. I'll go find someone and meet up later. I need some coffee anyway before I interview you guys," Detective Yamashita replied. "Meet you there Endo-kun?"

"Yeah, sure," he said. "Come on everyone, let's go. We do need to interview you."

They left the room, with Detective Yamashita taking a left as the rest took a right. The singer noticed a bathroom as they walked towards the more comfortable rooms for interviewing witnesses. "Excuse me," she said to the male detective quietly, "may I go to the bathroom before we start? I'm going to be interviewing with Detective Yamashita anyway so it shouldn't keep you from interviewing one of the others."

"Sure, do you know where it is?" he replied.

"I saw it as we passed by it. I'll try not to be too long."

"You do that. And here," he said, tearing out a piece of paper from his notebook after scribbling something on it. "The room number we'll be in. If you get lost, you can ask one of the officers here to show you where it is."

"Thank you! I will be back soon," she smiled before taking off.

She walked past the bathrooms and headed back to the interrogation room. While the reckless behavior was out of character for her, there was a part of her that just wanted to know why and knew the only way to get a real answer was through asking the man himself. There's also that lingering darkness I keep feeling... It doesn't seem like this ordeal is quite over yet...

As she stopped in front of the room, she then remembered that there was a bit of a problem. She had no way to get into the room without a key. Ah, what am I going to do...? Without a key, I can't get in...

"Need a little help?"

Misaki turned at the sound of a familiar voice and stared as she said, "What are you doing here?"

(yay for NPC help~)
